Thanks for the excellent information! Everything looked and sounded great. Just ordered the Sony ZV-1, Rode VideoMicro II, and the Rode VC1 3.5mm Extension Cable!
Hey, Rance! That's so cool! I'm using the exact same setup for my talking head shots! The VC1 is super good! I had it for years and it never failed, the coiled cable helps with cable management as well, it doesn't feel as bulky and crammed up as the other 3.5mm lengthy cables.
2nd test closer (but now at proximity) from mouth is probably the best sounding for UA-cam videos. Closest test, voice feels too present and somewhat saturated, as if you were reporter holding micro to record outside
I tried this same setup on my Sony ZV-1 II and I wasn't getting any audio. I had it in Video "P" mode not "M" but didn't think that would make a difference. My DJI wireless mics work fine via a 3.5 mm so i know its not the camera. I've seen some people mentioning other settings or that maybe the camera needs a mic with a power source but your video shows the Rode VM II works fine. Now I'm wondering if I returned it for no reason or what in the world I was doing wrong.. Great sounding audio with the Rode vs the onboard need to figure it out.
Best video ever! but what about computer app settings? I did not understand ıf we connect computer with USB cable and set audio settings, when we come back to the 3.5mm jack cable and connect our camera what is gonna happen. computer settings will work too on camera or not?
Hi, my friend! Whenever you switch from automatic to manual audio recording mode, the wind reduction is automatically switched off because the camera won't use its software to play with the gain anymore to reduce wind noise.
Hey there. Just make sure you're on manual mode on the audio settings or else The camera will set it on auto and you won't get any control over the audio settings.
Great vid and love the tip about the extension and boom idea. Thanks!

Thanks for this - the mini mic stand link in your notes loads another tripod
Hey, Emma! I suggest you do get the Joby 1k I put in the description. I trust that more to hold the setup safely than the other one I mentioned!
last sec I changed my mind to Rode videomicro II thanks to you 😊
That's awesome man! Did you end up buying it?
@@markfriday I ABSULOTELY DID

Why I cant choose "wind noise reduct" option. it is gray! what does it mean? I have zv e 10 and rode mic go 2

Hey nice video do you use any addition screws with the microphone stand ?
hey i woul like to know if i have to always shoot on M mode for the mic to work. I have the zv1 m2.
Is there a setting that's needed or can you just plug in the Rode lav into the 3.5 jack and it should read it?

@@markfriday Ok so search the tabs for manual mode and set it as such, then the audio cord (3.5) Rode lav should work better?
Is there a way to use headphones to monitor the audio whilst recording?
hi, so would the cable still work for the Rode NTG video micro as well ?
When I listen to the audio recording of rode videomic, I only hear audio in the left side, is there a way to fix this?
I have the TRS to TRS cable
my zv-1 has this clicking noise with any mic I add to it
My Sony ZV2 doesn’t record any sound with an external mic. What could it be?
is this good for metal concerts? gonna get the sony zv 1 ii and need a good mic nothing too pro but good enough
Hey there! It's good enough to capture ambient sound, just don't expect it to isolate the sounds of guitars or drums or anything haha.
