Great recommendations! I love this little powerhouse camera of ours.
Just got my new ZV1 , really great tips thanks for sharing!
Great video! I've seen many videos mentioning the rig but no one has talked about the fact that it solves the battery door issue and that was one of my biggest annoyances. You sold me on it!! This is a game changer for me. Thank you👌
I really enjoyed the production of this video. The b-roll shots were really well done. Thanks for making this video!
Love my ZV-1 for just about everything! Great job on this edit mate! Definitely got my sub 👌
How's it going would you advice me to get the ZV 1 camera in 2023
Thank you! just bought this camera for my new channel. WOW, that microphone really made a difference! I'm learning so much. Wish me luck! Also, LOVE your raindrops 🥰
actually the built in mic on the ZV1 is great. That is not how it would have sounded if he managed to change "wind reduction" in the settings.
I just bought this vlogging camera and try to search about it and leads me to your video, thanks for sharing all ypur recommendations, i feel like it all great and can't wait to buy all of these
Great list! I have been going back and forth on whether I want to keep my ZV-1 or return it. I think ultimately I will wind up keeping it. In part thanks to this video! Keep up the great work!
Glad to hear the video was helpful for you. Thanks for checking out the channel.
@@RickEvansTheThird You're welcome!! :)
I have been doing tons of research on this is the camera I'm getting it with some of the accessories that you mention.
Great video and information. I like your pacing. Easy to follow. Thanks!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it
Great video my man!!! Just got the camera, it's fantastic
Thank you!
Thank you for this, I'll be buying zv-1 soon and your recommendation comes in perfect timing 👌
Glad found it helpful. Thanks for checking it out.
super nice tipss!! thanksssss
I found your page just in time! I finally got my Sony Zv1 and have binge watched alot of videos...your the only one that's mentioned an alternative to attaching the Wide angle lens without using the adhesive! I purchased your suggestions for that reason! Thank you! New Subscriber 🙋🏽♀️
This was quite helpful. Great affordable add ons! The Small Rig was just what I was looking for to deal with the SD Card issue and utilizing other cold shoes. Thank you!
Thanks for an outstanding video!! This is exactly what I was looking for.
Absolutely the best explanations for the best use of ZV1 ... Thx a lot..i will follow your recommandations with no doubt.. you are so clear, honest.. a real pleasure to follow..! In the middle of thousands..you are the One..good job..!
Thank you! Glad you found it helpful.
Watched it just today and bought 4 out of the 10 things. Thanks for your knowledge and the video!
keep helping the planet bro. love seeing folks like you man and like myself that actually care about our home. Blessings
Thank you!
Thank you for this, i just got my ZV1, still learning how to use it
Awesome! Glad the video helped. Thanks for checking out the channel!
Really good review 👍 normally I film with the fx6 but I bought the ZV1 last week for family holidays 👌🏻 it is a great small cam 😅 best cinematic greetings from Germany
Great video with great suggestions! I'm about to buy a ZV-1 and all this stuff will come in very handy! Thanks!
Love your reviews!
Thank you!
Hey man awesome video! I have my ZV-1 and its been great to me so far. Im going to stay up with your videos and this one in particular was extremely helpful!!
Thanks man👍🏼
It was great
Love my ZV-1 and this video! I got my ZV-1 almost a year ago and im ready to step up my game. This video is great and that L Bracket will be game changing for changing batteries while filming. Great job!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video. Being able to get to the batteries...Life changing, right? 😆
@@RickEvansTheThird man I can’t tell you how many times I’m in the middle of filming something important and then I have to change it and hope I can get the right angle again🤦🏼♀️ but you got a sub from me!
@@KimberlyHerzog I appreciate that support! Thank you! Hopefully I can provide a lot more useful tips going forward.
Love this video, love my ZV-1 more as well. More of my videos will be from it, can't wait. Thank you!
Awesome!
The GP-VPT2BT is great. It makes one-handed photo and video shooting super easy. I was pleasantly surprised to find out it has a 2-speed zoom button. Press lightly and it zooms slow, press fully and it zooms fast (cool!). However, I just also started using the Inkee Ironbee. Handle is a little smaller (girth) so it's a tad more comfortable than the Sony AND the remote is removable remote. Thing is all metal and tough as nails. Both grips work great on my A6400 and both are quite pack-able in a small camera bag (e.g. Ruggard 15 or 25).
Cool, thanks for the info
Thank you for this very informative video. I've had my camera for about 2 years but I'm now just learning how to use it.
I think you've convinced me this needs to be my new vlogging camera !
It's seriously a fantastic camera for vlogging. Glad you enjoyed the info.
Just know, that the RX100m8 slated for 2021 will fix the not-wide-enough wide-angle and give you some other cookies, to get you to upgrade...
I predict that ZV-1 cameras will become very cheap on eBay when that comes out. Not withstanding those who will smartly just relegate the ZV-1 for B-Roll.
Sony is priming the market with the ZV-1 and then get another $1200+ out of everybody who is serious about their vlogging.
For this, they will actually spend the money to redesign the RXV's F1.8 24mm-70mm to an F1.8 18mm-55mm lens.
(this is not inside info, but an educated guess from someone who has watched Sony's tactics since the 80's)
Always leave some warts, so you can sell the same camera as a new camera with the fix.

Great video! This was quite helpful.
I just got this camera sent to me by one of my subscribers! I’m so excited 😭 thank you for this video
Wow that was valuable!
Very informative thank you!
*Love this Camera so much that I bought the a6400, lol!!! BUT as a Point n Shoot this thing is AMAZING and Paired with the Remote and it's PERFECT. So I got both this AND the a6400*
They always get you with the accessories
Nice video. I'm loving my ZV1
This is an Awesome video! Love my ZV so far but it DID need this stuff haha
Thank you! That's awesome! Glad you found it helpful.
Great Channel! Wish you a lot of SUCCESS 💯💯💯
Thank you!
Awesome thank you 😊
Great video! Thank you for putting it out there! Question. After installing everything you have here, I am getting some vignette in the corners on the widest angle setting. Did I install something incorrectly?
Really cool video. New UA-camr here and im thinking about picking this up!
Thank you for this vid, we love our ZV-1 Best, ODTRP
Awesome stuff. There's a lot of videos covering this topic and I think a new stuff starts at @10:45 for me. Thank you for making this video :)
Thanks for checking out the channel! Glad you found the video helpful.
Nice vídeo! Do you know ZV1 can shot thru usb charger? Or I need to keep swap bateries? Thanks
Great video! 👍🙂
Thank you!
Amazing video!!!!
LOVE THIS VIDEO. I'm crazy thinking whether I sell my zv1 or gonna keep it. But I decided to keep it ❤
Great informative video. You should have way more subscribers that you do. Well, so should I but that's another thing. Anyway, I'm just about ready to pull the trigger on a ZV-1 and I especially liked your tip about mounting the Ulanzi lens.
Great video and good luck with the channel!
Thanks for checking it out! Glad you enjoyed it.
Great vid!
Thanks!
Awesome video, my man! And that’s not fake news haha
Good job I liked and subscribed:)
Thanks for the support! Glad you enjoyed it
great video. I have some of the items. I picked up the Ulanzi MT-16 which I think is a better value than the vlogger kit. I have the Rode Wireless and the
UURig ZV1 Camera Cage (which is AMAZING)--I have the wide angle lens on my list and the Gimbal down the line--maybe as a Christmas gift.
This was such a thorough video. You should have more subscribers!
Good tips
Thank you.
Thanks for sharing.. I want the wide lens 😊
Really helpful video - I was waiting to see if Sony made noises about a ZV-1 mk II with a wider lens - I think time to buy now with the lens adapter :)
So far, only rumors. I don't think we'll see a mkII ZV-1 anytime soon, especially with their new FX3 they just announced.
@@RickEvansTheThird That's true. FX3 does look incredible and being part of the Cine FX designation, probably a crowd pleaser - out of my budget so ZV-1 for me and I'm sure I'll be very happy with it :)
I love my zv-1!
the mount is somwthing I need!!
I really enjoy this camera. One question, if you have the ulanzi wide angle Lense, would the included adapter work with the filters you mentioned? Or is it necessary to get the first adapter ring out mentioned? In other words does the Ulanzi adapter ring work with other lenses?
That's a very good question. Honestly, I'm not sure. I had the filter adapter before buying the Ulanzi. So I never tried the configuration you're describing. It sounds like it might work in theory though.
I got this camera at a pawn shop for 200 bucks, I love it! I got a Deity mic to go on it, the one that shoots shotgun and to the back, it works well
But that Rode Mic sounds better
Nice video, the big USP apart from the f1.8 is the unlimited recording time. The RX100 and most others are limited to 29minutes, this is a deal-breaker for many film makers
Thank you! That's a really great point.
Helpful
Great video! Thank you! I have a question though: The lens mate no longer seems to be available 🥲 do you have any recommendations for this particular product
Sony zv 1 🔥
Thanks
great vid
Thanks!
2:55 Every phase detect camera from Sony and Canon camera can do that "Product Showcase" feature, it's great that the RX100 camera line has this amazing phase detect technology, too. 4:10 that Sony handle looks amazingly versatile. You are talking almos always on selfie vlogging, but really great content is not only talking head.
Don't forget to get a comparable SD card reader as well otherwise read speeds of the physical card won't matter. Sony actually makes a fantastic USB reader.
Great vid, thanks, I just ordered one with the handle!! Anything to increase the video quality and options for my channel, this will be an awesome addition!!
Thanks,
Adam
Wow this was a good video
Thank you!
Awesome video! With the vlogger kit handle, can you hinge it down then re-screw the camera so you can hold upright and shoot vertical videos?
Thanks! I think I understand what you mean, and yes you can. If you use the Smallrig bracket it has mounting holes on the side, and then you can screw the handle into one of those mounting it vertically. The cool thing about the ZV-1 is it automatically flips the video vertical on your SD card. So you won't have to rotate it in editing. Pretty awesome.
@@RickEvansTheThird Ah very cool! Thanks man I appreciate the response
@@evanfarrar3360 No problem!
Badasserer! 😄 I'm having trouble uploading my recorded files to wevideo. Any suggestions?
I am obsessed with this video I have watched it at least 11 times. I read all the comments and bought just about everything you suggested. I know nothing about cameras but I'm learning. Do you think I can get away with no stabilization (eliminating the crop) with my new gimbal and wide angle and still get smooth results? My content is quilts. With that said any ideas about any filters I need for indoor filming of quilts? Thank you times 10 million for this video it is one of the best by far.
First, thank you so much for the kind feedback and support! I truly appreciate it. Second, the standard stabilization won't crop in the image, only the "active" version will do that. So, you should be able to use standard with no problems. Also, if you find the footage is still too shaky for you, turn the active stabilization on and give it a shot. It only crops in a tiny bit and can be useful in certain situations. And, as for shooting indoors, just make sure you have plenty of light. Keep your ND filters turned off, and no polarizer will be needed either. Hope all that helps. Best of luck with the quilting and your channel! Reach out if you ever have any other questions.
P.S. I just checked out your some of your videos. Those quilts and paper art are AMAZING! Love all the creative designs and colors.
@@RickEvansTheThird Oh my goodness I can't believe you checked out my channel. I can't tell you how much that means to me. Thank you for telling me not to use the ND filters and Polarized inside because that is the first think I would have done when all my stuff gets here. I think I'm about to purchase a field monitor and a light now. When I'm filming in the craft room I honestly don't see things very well. I have been using my cell phone for most of my footage this far but it is time to learn photography since it is such a huge part of content creation. Again I really appreciate you checking out my channel any suggestions are welcomed with open arms at any time.
Watching it cause he’s so handsome and I’m looking to buy this camera
@@MACoutureCrafting it's cause you want is D
New creator here, getting mine today. New subscriber alert, great content
Awesome! Thanks for checking out the channel. Good luck with your videos.
Thanks for a good vid. My son has just bought sony zv1 for slow motion videos but it doesn't seem to be a great quality at 1000 fps. We haven't tried any different speeds yet. But I wonder about our choice of memory card. Is SanDisk extreme pro sdxc uhs-I u3 v30 4kuhd 256GB speed up to 200 mb/s. Is this good enough for to support the camera?
Very helpful video indeed. May I ask: Does that Zhiyun Crane M2 Gimbal need setting up - balancing the camera etc, etc. > Cheers
Thank you! And yes, the M2 does need to be setup and balanced before using. It can be a little tricky. I think I'm going to shoot a quick video explaining that. So stay tuned! Thanks for watching!
Amazing video love from Pakistan ❤️
Thank you!
We'll done bro!
Great video! Zhiyun Crane M2 was also one of my list to make my ZV1 better. But I heard from other, after 6 months is become dead. How is your Zhiyun now? Is it still good?
Yeah, works fine. Zhiyun doesn't have the best warranty unfortunately, I think it's only like 90 days here in the U.S. Would be nice to have at least 1 year. Oh well. I'm happy with mine, no problems.
@@RickEvansTheThird : Thank you for replying.. appreciate it! Subs your channel..
@Revi Chippy Thank you!
Awesome vid! I'm still deciding whether I should get the ZV1 and which accessories I should pick up. I saw this package deal in my local online shop for around 1139 USD. It's got the BT handle, 128GB SD, Rode Video Mic Micro, DJI Ronin SC Pro and 2 extra 3rd party batteries. You think this is a good pickup?
I'm not a professional photographer though... I might be using it for my mini-vlogs and for my video game streaming :p
Seems like a decent deal to me. And one of the great things about this camera is it's made for people like you who aren't professionals. It's very easy to use and get great footage right out of the box.
@@RickEvansTheThird thanks for getting back to me... I was just a little worried about how big the Ronin SC is. LOL!
@@UnrupturedTV Sure thing! It is a little big, but that will give you the ability to add on larger cameras and lenses in the future if you invest in them.
فديو جميل♥️🙏🌙♥️
You forgot the uncheck the "wind reduction" on the onboard microphone settings that is why it sounded muffled.😝The onboard microphone is actually good! Good review though.
The autofocus is ridiculously awesome. How do they do it? That's Sony for you though. Best autofocus in the business so it can instantly focus on all of your skin imperfections and tint you green. Lol... I kid I kid... But no for real set sharpness -7 and turn down green and reds.
How are you not getting vignetting when using the clear UV lens and wide angle lens? I am using the method you state and it is showing a lot of vignetting with the lensmate kit.
Ok, I’m buying the rode micro mic, finally someone convinced me
🙌I love it! For that price it's really hard to beat.
When you attach the Ulanzi wide angle, you place a clear nd. Which one of the links has that clear attachment. thanks
This one amzn.to/3hmjuwi 😂 Sorry about that.
Hi, can you use the wide lens and adjustable ND filter together on the ZV1? Thanks Icecy...
Yes, you would just need to put the ND filter on first and then screw the wide angel on top of it.
@@RickEvansTheThird Great thanks, that would be an adjustable ND filter? Do you recommend a good filter also please as I am very new to all this? I use the Ulanzi wide lens. Thank you so much. Icecy :)
@@ThaiMyStyle If you want a variable ND filter try this one amzn.to/3hQJWQl . I don't have any experience with it, but I do know the brand is good. If you just want standard ND Filters go with the Urth filters amzn.to/3iv7ppe
@@RickEvansTheThird Hi, I bought the 52mm filter below but wouldn't screw to the Ulanzi wide lens after I screwed it to the camera with the adapter as you said, it fitted after I had taken the micro lens off then attached it then with micro lens first on but left a shadow on the outside of the picture, is it better to order another filter for the front of the wide lens to stop the dark edging or did I order wrong ND? Could you do a video on this please :) Thanks Icecy. www.lazada.co.th/products/kf-filter-cpl-fader-nd2-32-nano-cplnd-i1645414758-s4559174089.html?dsource=share&laz_share_info=207869176_5_100_100083072432_197723513_null&laz_token=c5a30facb6b8d5ecf5498c3ac6e89c8e&exlaz=e_iqeJxmuQOjPGip8qo24MCSTeQCjDld4siVQ4kY1ODqrCXvTKdNAtBb55%2BgIiSkmNnXkPoNuoMIIpR8IEI%2FLi1U0sC6tUOx2TD3WnASIas1Y%3D&sub_aff_id=social_share&sub_id2=207869176&sub_id3=100083072432&sub_id6=CPI_EXLAZ
@@ThaiMyStyle I've actually had quite a few questions about this. I will do a quick video to explain the way I use it. Sorry to hear you had a problem with it. That shadow is called vignetting. You could try a filter for the front of the Ulanzi. You'll nedd a 58mm set like this one amzn.to/2WcN14W
The main thing which is not present I this camera is Stability. I wish it can give us electronic stabilization like GoPro (which is a must for a vlogging camera). Otherwise I love it !
The ZV-1 does have stabilization. Sony calls it SteadyShot. I even demonstrate it at 15:48. Check it out. There are two modes, standard and active. Works really well. Hope that helps! Thanks for checking out the channel.
Is there a compatibility issue between the bayonet mounts for the URTH filter adapter and the Ulanzi wide-angle lens?
Technically, the threads on the lens adapter ring are the correct size for the Ulanzi. But for some reason it doesn't seem to attach properly. So, I use the clear Urth filer between the adapter and the Ulanzi and that works perfectly. There is no vignetting or any other issue using it this way that I have encountered. Hope that makes sense.
We have the new IDOLCAM VlogStar V2 shotgun/Lavalier microphone in one, small size, perfect for ZV1, can we send you one for the next mic review you are doing?
Sounds interesting. Shoot me an email with the info and I'll take a look. Business email can be found at the bottom of the video description. Thank you for reaching out!
How does it compare to Sony gamer Xperia 1 IV? I used that phone on my trip and it does everything and more. Even 4k I’m 120fps.
I heard that the adhesive that comes with the Ulanzi Wide Angle filter is not great so that the lens eventually falls off. What is your experience with the Lensmate adhesive?
Been using it for about a year now. No issues.
If you had not attached lensmate already and had lensmate and ulanzi in front of you, which adapter ring would you adhere to camera the ulanzi or lemsmate? If Ulanzi adapter was attached (not lens mate) could you add Ulanzi lens or instead attach any 52 mm filter directly to Ulanzi adapter? Is there any advantage to getting lensmate and ulanzi like you did? Or is lensmate not needed if Ulanzi is Purchased first? My goal is to mostly use filters without Ulanzi lens but sometimes use ulanzi wide angle lens instead.
I would attach the Lensmate ring if I had both in front of me. The reason is this allows me to use the filters on the original lens without adding the Ulanzi. Basically, it comes down to flexibility. You could attach a filter to the Ulanzi without buying the Lensmate, but then you'd always have to attach it if you wanted to use a filter. This means you'd always have a wide angle lens on the camera. Sometimes I'd prefer not to shoot that wide. Does that make sense? Hope that helps.
@@RickEvansTheThird I think so.
Would you be able to give a written list of the accessories you’ve recommended here? Thanks
If you look at the written description below the video and click where it says "show more," you'll see the complete list of all the items with links so you can purchase them if you choose.
I think uurig is better cuz it has a built in Arca Swiss plate at the bottom. And also the lense adaper its pretty cool, there's another one made by MagFilter. It's magnatic and it's cheaper in my region.
So, can i put the Ulanzi + filter without biadhesive?
Hello.. just had a question regarding Sony ZV1 before I buy. Does it shoot mirror videos.. like the camera selfie videos? Does it have mirror mode off and on?
No mirror mode that I know of. But if you need the image to be reversed this can easily be done when editing.
@@RickEvansTheThird just was looking at whether I can do at the camera level as usually the screen of mobile shows video or selfie in mirror mode and that is what I get precisely in recorded content (unless I click on flip selfie). Many a times I have felt mirroring has captured better photos or videos than normal and if it's in camera it helps to do a quick review of what is captured and help me decide to whether or not go for a retake. Thanks for your reply.
