In this video I go over the Irod Gen 3 764C light flip and Junk Rod. This rod is versatile, light and sensitive. All the great attributes and at a price that is way below its competition.
Irod for the win!
I have a 754f Magic Stick that I use mostly for pond duty. I've used it to throw a 6" Magdraft, big Ploppers, buzzbaits, frogs, jigs and swim jigs. It shuts off a tad further up from the seat than the 764. Also have a Bailey Swim for when I can only take one "big" rod. It's a great all around swimbait rod for softies and 2-3oz swimbaits. The detachable handle is a big plus on an 8' rod. Great rods for the price.
I really like the 754 Air. Can’t remember if I also have the 754F but I’m partial to that size rod and they have a ton of power. I talked to Paul about the glide baits and I think I’m gonna get the Jr Swim for those.
Thanx AA. Shimano Bantam, so much for Diawa. If you went SLXs maybe you would have stayed Diawa but a Bantam it's all over. I've bought a couple Diawa and Lews but the Shimanos always get the nod. From the SLX XT thru the Curado MGLs is my playground and best bang for the buck.
Never tried IROD rods, probably because I've never had a chance to feel one but I'm going to give one a shot. Set dat hook!
Thanks man. I’m not done with Daiwa at all, but I did order another Bantam. I have special needs (lmao) that I plan on using the Bantams for. Mostly swimbait stuff. I know you will like the Irod. Let me know if you have any questions about certain models.
It would probably be a great Carolina rig rod
It would. I’m not sure if I’ll use the 764 or the 754 Air which is a bit faster for my Carolina rigs. In other brands I used a 765 and the 764 is real close to those.
I am a St. Croix rod guy for the most times fishing and have a Loomis rod. Most medium heavy heavy, couple heavy and couple medium. Am gonna get a couple for pan fishing , so how does this brand compared to those if you don't mind me asking?
Thank You,
Joe
@@josephrodriguez5566 I have both Loomis and St Croix rods as well. They stack up well. The different series are all a bit different from the Gen 3 to the Air. The Crush is probably most like my St Croix rods action wise. The Air series is amazing. The Gen 3 is the most popular with tons of technique specific applications. The Gen 3 models feel lighter than the Victory models I have. Both are great rods. Loomis really depends on which line of rod. I won’t say they are better, but their higher end will be lighter.
@@TheAverageAngler Thank you for the reply. I will give them a shot. Iam like a woman with shoes. I have probably like 50 rods.....lol
@@josephrodriguez5566 totally understand, I’m over 100 and in the process of selling off all of my Powell rods. When it gets out of control I purge some stuff out.
In the Powell, I couldn’t find a good spot for that rod. But, I bet that would be a great swim jig rod.
@@kurtrindgen4708 the Powell is a MH and this is a Heavy. I have both and enjoyed the Powell. That said it was for lighter techniques, they were also a bit fragile. Irod is not fragile. This would be a great swim jig rod for those that prefer a longer swim jig rod. They also have a 7’2 swim jig rod that is great.
