The Hurt Locker is a 2008 American war thriller film directed by Kathryn Bigelow and written by Mark Boal. It stars Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Brian Geraghty, Christian Camargo, Ralph Fiennes, David Morse, and Guy Pearce. The film follows an Iraq War Explosive Ordnance Disposal team who are targeted by insurgents and shows their psychological reactions to the stress of combat. Boal drew on his experience during embedded access to write the screenplay.

My dad was overseas a long time ago. War is hell but he and his team tried to make the best of it. Some of the locals in his AO called him "The Candyman" cause he'd buy a bucket of candy for dirt cheap and give it out to kids. When talking to people to gather info, some would outright refuse to talk unless they could get "The Candyman".
100% OIF vets had this same conversation at some point in the box ... 50% took him up on the girl on dog. I remember bargaining with one and out of now where he says "Children?" and we said hell no. Half the DVDs went back in the bag. Some gross stuff out there, man.
