A story. A man fires a rifle for many years. and he goes to war. And afterwards he comes home, and he sees that whatever else he may do with his life - build a house, love a woman, change his son's diaper - he will always remain a jarhead. And all the jarheads killing and dying, they will always be me. We are still in the desert.
After being deployed and building those strong bonds, when you come home and go your own ways in life, you never come back the same, and you still keep in touch, trust me, i know and can relate to this ending all too well!
Yes, because You want to be a part of this brotherhood. Feel that in every fellow soldier there is a part of You, and everybody else see You as a part of them. Army (or Marine) is always one thing, it depends on the bond of every soldier with another.
@matthew1232k Jarhead was never intended on being anti-war. It wasn't intended on being pro-war either. It's purely a story of a marine's life in the military. I saw nothing political in the movie at all. It just wasn't violent because that's how things really were for Swofford.
@Onedemonchild His mind is still there reliving what happend When he got back he had a mental collaps it seems and... He still thinks those that were with him are still there but there not. :/ My grandfather never adjusted back to civilian life I onnly saw him twice in my life. In a V.A hospital R.I.P Richard Lantz You are missed
right but guessing from your name you're not a female, I was talking about what she was limited too, and as her being a female the closest she could get to infantry is being an MP
@jordanjaloudi96 eh not necessarily. so far so good, except for when I started with some scenes from a movie (can't remember what it is) they removed it after a few days. yet most of them are alright. songs are the same way too, it's a 50/50 chance - who knows
the only thing you can't do as a female is be infantry or SF and don't worry those are shit jobs haha, you could become and MP which is what I do and its as close to infantry as I'd want to get and it's open to females

Lucky those who didn't come home. Lucky those

I love the part where the 6 Marines are walking in the desert. Reminds me of myself when I was in Iraq 6 years ago with those I served with.

@Tr3v3336 It's ironic you say that, in the book he talks about how that he knows most movies are anti-war, but they motivated him.
I am a woman veteran and I will tell you it is not an easy road but if you want it take it and let no one tell you different.
Best part ever!!
This is epic. I love this film

Ah, Laserdiscs. Gotta love the '90s.
@Tr3v3336 To be quite honest with you, if this scene makes you want to be a marine or serve in general, you should.
Thank you Jacob
I'd join any branch of the military but I can't because I'm blind in my left eye.....
My buddy told me troy overdosed
@Tr3v3336 I'm not quite sure that it was meant to be an anti-war movie..
Beautiful song
What song is it?
Edit: nvm didn’t realise that this comment was posted 8 years ago. It’s called “A soldiers things”. If you’re still interested.
@MW2Soldiers he died in car accident
i remember when i went to my battle buds funeral years ago. :(
That chi cheng as your profile pic? Im a huge deftones fan.
@tr3v3336 that's exactly how I feel. Kind of ironic with it being an anti war movie.

@jbyrsm1 that's silly. there's a lot of opportunities for women in the military. USMC too. so many different positions. don't be daunted
they're fools. lol. good luck and if you're strong at heart, you're sure to make it. thumbs up @Ashakat42
