I genuinely enjoyed the first Venom movie. I'm such a huge mark for the character. I thought the humor fit OK for the first outing, it made sense for Eddie to be at odds with Venom at the outset, and while the movie wasn't a masterpiece, the things it needed to get right as the "first Venom movie", I feel it did get right. Then the sequel happened....it is very hard for me to put into words just how much I resent Let There Be Carnage, from start to finish. That movie is the concept of 'disappointment', distilled and bottled with exact attention to detail. I have yet to see Last Dance, and at this point, I cannot possibly be missing anything there.
FWIW I hated 2 far more than 3. They are all objectively bad, but 2 was truly something else. The definition of wasted potential. 3 is a slog but ok in a brainless cgi action movie way. Gives nowhere near the feels it wants to - unless you're 12.
Ight Imma say it, making movies based on Spider-Man's arch enemies without the web slinger is a terrible idea, but even then, that's the least of their problems.
I dont remember which comic it was, but my introduction to Venom opens with Eddie Brock sleeping on a train. A couple thugs thinks he's a bum, and they light him on fire with gasoline. He transforms into Venom, and then drags them into the darkness,, followed by begging and "snap crackle pop" of bones breaking. With that tone being my expectation, the Venom movies were nothing but disappointing.
I saw the first one, didn't realize I missed the second one, and saw the third one thinking it was the second... they stunk. Though, the "third" one felt a little nostalgic... me watching in a theater, a superhero movie... because everything stank. (Though the last Spider-Man was great, but got that on Blu-Ray)
NGL i loved venom trilogy it was a good watch not too much of a brainer The bond between eddie and venom, their friendship, fights and cute happy moments are all worth it and in last dance they made us emotional A great franchise ❤️
Sony was probably just making these things to keep the spider-man license, and it shows. Eventually they need to bite the bullet and sell the rights back to marvel, they lost any good faith they had left.
Aaahhh....an hour-long Cynic compilation video video ripping a sub-par comic book movie franchise...settling with snacks. You're too kind, sir. Not skipping your ad read, to thank you for providing such quality content. 👏👏
@TheMovieCynic I always do, man. I'm working on a new novel, and you'd be surprised how many of your insights I apply to my plots, characters, etc. Keep killing it we'll keep watching 🤜🤛
Honestly, every decision that Sony made ranges from at best "baffling" to at worst "complete and utter insanity". I mean, ffs, who in their right mind would make a movie about Madame Web? If you needed a female superhero in the spider-verse... Um, What about Spiderwoman? Or just go with Spider Gwen like they did in the animation department. Or let's think of Kraven. Dude could have had so many good story lines. Maybe just the origin on how this guy goes mad and starts hunting people after besting every animal he could think of. Make it a horror story. Venom. Damn I love Venom and I absolutely hate the movies. The first one was bad but borderline defensible. The other two, I haven't even bothered to watch since they would just make me sad. Morbius... Good Lord. Of all the villains you went with Morbius, Sony? Why? He's D tier at best even in the comics. Why not go with Chameleon or Shocker or even fucking Jackal. They're all bad but at least you could launch the Clone Saga with Jackal or you could do a fun heist show with Chameleon. Or even a down on his luck loser who gets power movie with Shocker. I honestly think the only two good writers went to that department btw. At least that has been giving us good movies. All I can say about Sony is "Good riddance to bad trash." And now I'm genuinely quite curious about how bad Madame Web can be. Morbius, I could take about 15 minutes of it but damn that was terrible.
It seems to me, all of the new writers do not know nor care about actual history of these characters. Just face value everything and everything is a joke.
Venom 2 was the biggest disappointment for me. If you had asked me to cast Carnage, Woody Harrelson would have been near the top of my list (see Natural Born Killers). What they did with him was just a shame.
One correction, one of the young actresses in Madam Trash, actually attacked people and attributed the movie failure to misogyny etc! Anyways I am reaching a point where I am starting to believe half of Hollywood is just money laundering.
Sony-verse is basically telling everyone "Spider-Man got snapped by Thanos, and will never EVER come back! Move on already! Otherwise you're either racist, sexist, bigot, or all three!"
Instead of dumb villain spin-offs, SONY should just do a continuation of Tobey-Spider-Man with his daughter as SPIDER-GIRL (Mayday Parker), like in comics with MC2 #SpiderGirl 😀
We need to find another word to use instead of "movie." We got rid of "film" after we stopped shooting them on actual film, yet we still keep the even more antiquated "movie", which is just a shortened version of "moving picture" which is just fcking ancient. Sadly however l, I have nothing to contribute when it comes to media related synonyms.
Dude! I can’t even with your Madam Web review! Your reading for ‘Evil’ (what Little Platoon called him) is hilarious, you sound just like that guy, “I came from nothing, less than nothing…!” Haha…! 😂
I realised Venom 1 only succeeded for 2 reasons: 1. Snyder-ism was at it's peak and anything considered "too violent for the MCU" was considered top tier by default. 2. It was "comic accurate". A term that has become the bane of my existence because you can make the most dogwater movie, but as long as it's "cOmIc AcCuRaTe" it'll get all the praise in the world. Just look at the initial reception to The Amazing Spider-man 2 BEFORE it came out.
Lol... Morbius was the best movie out of all of them. People hate on it because it had moments that became memes, but it was a superior character representation compared to all the other Sony verse films. Venom movies are some of the worst let downs ever

Please do a whole video impersonating the villain from Madam Web.
Where would we be without Spider Man ? In the Spiderless-verse.
You know these movies suck when more people will watch this instead of the actual movie.
NGL i loved venom trilogy it was a good watch not too much of a brainer
The bond between eddie and venom, their friendship, fights and cute happy moments are all worth it and in last dance they made us emotional
A great franchise ❤️
Sony was probably just making these things to keep the spider-man license, and it shows. Eventually they need to bite the bullet and sell the rights back to marvel, they lost any good faith they had left.
Aaahhh....an hour-long Cynic compilation video video ripping a sub-par comic book movie franchise...settling with snacks. You're too kind, sir.
Not skipping your ad read, to thank you for providing such quality content. 👏👏
Hope you enjoyed it!
@TheMovieCynic I always do, man. I'm working on a new novel, and you'd be surprised how many of your insights I apply to my plots, characters, etc. Keep killing it we'll keep watching 🤜🤛
Good luck on the novel my friend 🤜🤛
Your impression of him IS spot on tho. Strong work main
The fart jokes were unexpected, but appreciated. Kinda like a fart!
I was cackling this whole video man. These were really some of the movies ever made
It’s funny that they had double D in the thumb nail and not actually madam web
Venom was a comedic character since his debut* 16:15
100% correct
shriek canonically white goes black in woke movie
I just knew it and I googled and I was right
The concept is awesome. They should've just got better writers with common sense, but Madame Web just sucks.
That was hilarious ❤ and so much more entertaining than any of those movies 😂
Madame Web was made to hold on to the rights.
It seems to me, all of the new writers do not know nor care about actual history of these characters. Just face value everything and everything is a joke.
Kraven the Hunter, sounds like Velocipastor.
Don’t disgrace Velocipastor. That movie is a gem
I'll be watching this one to the end....for your information, I'll be sending you the bills for my psychiatrist!
Let's do this baby!
Venom 2 was the biggest disappointment for me. If you had asked me to cast Carnage, Woody Harrelson would have been near the top of my list (see Natural Born Killers). What they did with him was just a shame.
"The Beautiful Simplicity of Rhino" by Solid JJ, here on UA-cam
comparing a bad CGI fight to a lava lamp is fucking hilarious lol
"Let There Be Carnage"? What? They couldn't get the rights to "Maximum Carnage"?
One correction, one of the young actresses in Madam Trash, actually attacked people and attributed the movie failure to misogyny etc! Anyways I am reaching a point where I am starting to believe half of Hollywood is just money laundering.
I thought the so called symbiotes couldn't exist without being attached to a human? So how did he go off on his own?
0:33 yes i do. No need to check
Good review
what software do you use to edit your videos?
I thought Russell Crowe was John Goodman at first.
Sony-verse is basically telling everyone "Spider-Man got snapped by Thanos, and will never EVER come back! Move on already! Otherwise you're either racist, sexist, bigot, or all three!"
Cynic graces us with another video 🙏🏽. Right on time.
3 videos
Currently watching 80s/90s movies/shows 👍👍😎. I am fine if Hollywood goes away for 20 years (especially Lucasfilm) 🙏🙏
Whover though this was a good idea should get fired
Is this a compilation of old episodes?
3 new reviews in this 3 older ones
I realised Venom 1 only succeeded for 2 reasons:
I don't care if other people think you suck Cynic, I appreciate your efforts!
No hate but that’s how carnage was made in the comics of a drop of eddies blood it may have been dumb how the executed it but at least they tried
I prefer Raven...with a K This is the first time I'm hearing about this movie 🤣
They had it all, except Spider-Man.
I'm proud of how few of these I've seen
