Disney doesn’t respect: the original material, the characters, the backstory, the lore, the audience, history, morality, men, it’s own storylines, death…
Although I agree, I also disagree at the same time. Instead of having the thought of "waiting for another messed up movie to happen", the only thing I can do is just hear the announcement, don't watch any trailers or read the comments, just wait, and go watch it upon release to see if it's good or bad. As simple as it sounds, I feel like many people on the internet today is on this cesspool to always expect the worst of things everyday, saying things like "it's gonna suck" or "another woke trash", nvm the fact that the movie hasn't came out yet and we don't even know much of it.
You massively undersold just how unlikable Cassie is, and how destructive she is to the film; warping all the other characters to conform to the unbelievable idea that we the audience should agree with her that scott sucks, when we like him and at best tolerate the others.
What they do with Scott in Quantumania is try to use the "Character becomes famous and becomes a jerk" trope. This doesn't work, because Scott isn't being a jerk. After spending three years in jail, and then five years in the Quantum Realm, he wants to be with Cassie. The conflict of Ant-Man 1 was that he needed to prove that he was a good father to Maggie and Paxton, both are inexplicably nowhere to be seen in this movie. Yeah, Scott capitalises on his newfound fame, but it doesn't change his personality. The dinner table scene where everyone gangs up on him is sickening. Hope, Hank and Janet would still be dead alongside the rest of half the universe if Scott hadn't discovered a way to undo Thanos' snap.
I mean is she really any more unlikeable than She-Hulk, Captain Marvel, or most of the other Marvel characters? They’re all unlikeable for the most part
@@bigbruhking9709Oh no, she is absolutely in her own league. With Jennifer, because she's just as horrid to bruce as cassie is to her father. Carol is just kind of a nothing character by comparison. She's annoying and arrogant, and doesnt have any struggles as a character which makes all the glazing she get cringeworthy, but jennifer and cassie actively hurt the ones who love them with zero consequences, and that's unsalvagable. Whats the worst thing we can really say about like, kate bishop or kamala? they're young and unfunny? Even Riri, who's absolutely vile in the comics, just comes across as average protagonist material on screen. maybe she's a bit cocky? But she never goes out of her way to put anyone down for not being as smart as her.
@@GuiltlessGear I get what you’re saying. But this isn’t on the performances, it’s moreso on the writing. EVERYONE in the MCU now has the self righteousness of Steve without the backstory, and the arrogance of Tony without the charm. So yes. Cassie can be in a league of her own. But if iron heart is as extremely good as it gets, I just struggle to see how she’s head and shoulders below any other characters that have been introduced, in terms of their capacity to be unlikable
My opinion phase five MCU : Ant man and the wasp quantumania : awful Guardians of the galaxy vol 3 : perfect Secret invasion : awful Loki season 2 : good The marvels : awful What if season 2 : meh Echo : boring Deadpool & wolverine : very good Agatha all along : decent
@@nellie4621 I think quantumania was supposed to be the first film of phase five and with Kang they dropped any stakes with the ending having him overpowered by ants, I think alot of scenes were reshot so it’s cohesion is probably rushed in the same way of how it builds the story for the next films to follow. It’d be a decent standalone film as it’s visually pretty good from what I remember but as apart of a franchise it’s just disjointed with nothing to build off of
The MCU has taken me through the 5-stages of grief. I'm now in the acceptance phase. I know all MCU content will suck (all Disney content for that matter.)
Almost all former MCU fans have. Haven't even heard anybody mention the MCU outside the internet for maybe two years. In general it seems like the only time a movie from most big studios nowadays is decent is if the business people don't notice what the actual artists are doing. Served with a side of much tastier, much healthier older and indie alternatives, of course.
They messed up with reshoots. The focus of Quantumania became more, "boss babe! even the jaded, obnoxious teenager who magically knows everything - and here she comes to save the day!" Gone are the days of actual badass female characters that fought through the plot to earn their character arc. Now female characters are just awesome from the beginning - which means there's no story in the first place. And the non-stop lecturing, jesus christ. Pretty much the same formula in every movie and online series. I am sure Hollywood - MCU included - will learn from this pathetic virtue signalling jerkfest, pull their heads of their asses and realise that they are the last people on this planet to lecture others about "privilege" /s
That "girl boss" scene in Endgame was top cringe and so violently shoved in within a fluid fight scene that i immediately went, "Once Endgame is done, im done" Was not gonna NOT watch the movie, since I'd invested 10 yrs of my life since Iron Man was released. But I knew i was done with Marvel because i could see where it was heading. The only Marvel films I've watched since then are Spider Man (which is mostly Sony) and Guardians 3. Both were ok. SpiderMan was mostly nostalgia bait and an extremely silly ending. GotG3 was sort of good but quite frankly, forgettable. And that was the best of the worst phases since Endgame
That Girl Boss scene was straight up cringe. Capt. Marvel is the most OP of them all, her literal intro to the fight was destroying Thanos' Sanctuary warship. All of the additional female superheroes were useless to the needs of her character in the film, and it stood out from the movie as if it was a literal cringe commercial break for things to come. I'm not even a Capt. Marvel hater, I thought her 'Hello Peter Parker' moment was great, just to segway to that mess. I stopped GotG after 2, had zero interest.
@@savioblanc yeah, I don't get the adulation for Spiderman NWH, when it HEAVILY banks on the past franchise and a redoing of the "Uncle Ben" scene (with the usual redefining "muh gender roles" theatrics). People came to watch the franchise connections, not the rest of the teenage Nickelodeon circus. GOTG3 was just nostalgia again and that also heavily relied on emotional blackmailing. James Gunn did the right thing to at least end it.
I knew that after Endgame, the hype and quality will decline. However, I do not foresee how bad they will drop. It's like they sprinting to the lowest level as fast as possible
No it's "outside of time and space". That's why the movie follows an entirely linear timeline in something that is clearly no space at all whatsoever☠️
Even if it was written the same year, James Gunn admitted to have no clue about what was going on in the MCU at the moment so it would've been good anyway bc he was just gonna write an ending to his trilogy and nothing else
@@Kaplykos He also wrote it under the assumption that it'd be out before infinity war and endgame, so he'd have time to tie off the character arcs in a neat little bow. But since it got released after, one of the main characters was replaced by a random ravager with their face stapled on
GOTG3 definitely stands out amongst the Crapola in ph 5, but there were elements to the movie that were irksome. Like I hate the soundtrack. I don't hate the songs, I hate them in a GOTG movie, Adam warlock was awful, and the furries planet was visually awkward, and the mcguffin chase to help rocket was also kind of awkward and a little boring.
On one hand, I don't think the Fantastic Four can be done any worse than it already has. On the other, I didn't think Disney could make two and a half bad Star Wars movies in a trilogy (I still give the ANH clone the credit of not killing all hype immediately somehow).
@@Zevox144I thought the Force Awakens was sparkly trash. Left the theaters confused feeling like a whole trilogy of movies were missing that would explain how things turned out the way it did. The EU wasn't perfect but it was definitely more inspired.

“Your daughter built a subatomic Hubble telescope in the basement.” Yeah. I am sure it was real hard to do too. Considering it was ANTMANS BASEMENT! It’s not like she had to go far for those Lego bricks. Also. You can’t have a dialogue if you refuse to look at reviews or audience feedback you complete buffoon. ONE of the most profitable balls was fumbled in Entertainment to the point where No Fan cares as much as before or downright giving up on the movies and TV shows. Stories just repeat or reboot nowadays.
The thing is Phase Four and Phase Five *could have* been the tale of passing the torch down to less tested heroes, raise their profile like what they did with Guardians of the Galaxy, promote lesser known faces... all they had to do was *not drop the ball.* The ball is approaching the Earth's core.
I got a better question: why the hell is it fury's fault that he couldn't find a planet? Wasn't captain Marvel the one who promised to find the skrulls a planet in her movie?
The show invented a past for Fury off screen. Which is a terrible way to go about it, cause it character assassinates him without us being able to comprehend anything
A day after watching this, I stumbled back over the 7 year old Honest Trailers' Russo Brothers' Honest Reaction to Winter Soldier Honest Trailer, that hosted the Russo Brothers. They stated they were big fans of the series, and made it a point to "Honest Trailer proof" their script. Something Kevin Feige and Phase 4+ directors had completely abandoned.

Although I agree with you regarding the current state of Disney, that doesn't mean you should discount several decades' worth of movies, because they USED to make good stuff.

It really is impressive how bad the MCU and all of Disney has gotten. I know it wasn’t over night.. but in 2019 they looked unstoppable and that was true. The ONLY thing that could kill the MCU was Disney. No other studio stood a chance.
Adam Warlock is a perfect example of marvel not understanding how to rework an idea into a new one. If they planned to have him in phase 2 and he got cut that is fine, but they could have made him a compelling character that could be used in future movies. They didn't do that and are now confused on where to go. It's like they continuously shoot themselves in the foot and it is so painful to watch.
How can a superhero, so over powered, she can fly through a sun, have difficulty fighting with such a low level villain? Her power level is all over the place. Basically whatever the script calls for at any point in the story. They wonder why no one can get into this character?
The purpose of the kill switch is to goad Rocket into Returning to the HE because he's supposed to be the only one who can save him. How he devised such a contingency at such an early stage in his career, and when he never saw Rocket as a threat in the first place, I have to wonder.
How ironic that the only three movies post Endgame which have been any good, No Way Home, Guardians 3, DP & Wolverine, have been third installments, which are typically the worst in any series.
The woman who plays Cassie in Quantumania is so bad in everything. She was just as bad in Freaky and Detective Pikachu and she doesn't have that Gal Gadot, "can't act but she's gorgeous so we all ignore that", thing going for her.
GOTG3 is the only good MCU film or project I have seen since No Way home. It has; -a good villain, wonderfully played, layered, well explained, and not made to say silly lines or be a joke villain. -Quill is not made a joke and gets some good development, with this Gamora actually respecting him and seeing what her other self saw in him by the end. -Rockets backstory is heart wrenching and not brushed aside. -Adam Warlock is well done and portrayed as he should, a god like being who is mentally a child learning what everything is. -Quill coming back to his grandfather is quite nice.
I guess Deadpool will make jokes, and point out the celestial in the ocean and bring up Emilia Clarke being overpowered...that will be the last Disney/Marvel thing I'll ever watch.

I really wanna give a huge shoutout to Loki S2 for finally abandoning the phase 4 blueprint of "stoic and superior female version is better, so let her hijack the screen time!", actually correcting their course and primarily make the show about the Loki we know and love again AND in the end tying it together with one of the best character development arcs out of any character in the entire MCU. Was it perfect? Hell no, the Kang variant and TVA stuff were all over the place in terms of writing and they didn't didn't seem to know how to use them a lot of times. You mentioned the camerawork and aesthetic of the show and I agree, but I found the soundtrack pretty great as well. Overall it felt like a candle in the dark for the rapidly dying MCU.
Mfs really pretend that Feige didn’t work on the X-Men movies and made 20 bangers movie after movie. Feige isn’t the problem, as a matter of fact after Endgame he gave directors more control than ever which was clearly a mistake with Taika and Zoey.

7:40 - to be entirely fair, the guardians were A: Focused on the immediate danger and safety of their friends B: Almost all of them were either trained killers, died already at one point, or generally morally bankrupt and familiar with death. They all also just lived through the snap and such (or died to it) so massive amounts of death isn't new... and they weren't super attached to these people. Like yeah, it was horrible, but they weren't given hours to go grieve about it.

I reckon Deadpool 3 won't be enough. I barely go back to the first 2. We've had a barrage of films with cameos, groovy soundtrack and lots of quips. Not quite sure why people are putting all their eggs in one basket.
That's why they brought Hugh Jackman's wolverine back from what was the greatest send off given to a marvel hero. With all the hype dune 2 had, it barely managed to collect a little over 700 millions at worldwide box-office. And with Deadpool 3's over bloated budget, I think it will need 700 millions to just break even. And now the situation is such that we cannot really predict how the general public is going to respond. It can easily gross over a billion, but it finishing it's run before breaking even is a real possibility too.
I was done after End Game. Emotionally completely drained. Maybe they did the arch too well, because everything was closed off for me personally and I had no interest in any of the characters afterwards.
One thing that was weird about What if? Was that. I had a Connected Storyline. It wouldn't be bad if each sorry had their own meaning, but they all were connected through at least one thing. But that wasn't the case. Isn't What If? supposed to be one off stories?
I stopped doing that when there was a mention in the credits of the live action 'Mulan' thanking the police service that secures a prison for political prisoners.
You know, Jeff Loveness was quoted by Bill Murray as 'writing this as he goes along'. He also admitted to never writing a screenplay before Quantumania thirty seconds into the directors commentary.

I would put "Mantis sense the fear of all the people in the ship so both go to save them" and that would fix this stupid move to put 2 characters in the ship without being force by the universe and the movie or the writer 😂
What pisses me off the most about modern marvel is just how fucking bland it is. You would think that even though these movies and comics get put through the disney machine that maybe something interesting or cool MIGHT slip into the final product just by virtue of how big their budgets are, but they can’t even manage that. The modern MCU has some of the worst writing in big budget filmmaking, arguably the worst CGI in big budget filmmaking, and Indisputably THE worst action/fight choreography out of any big budget action focused media coming out right now. Disney needs to let passionate, driven creators make what they want to or the MCU will collapse under its own weight in a matter of years if even that much time. Imagine a Blade movie by the guys behind John Wick. Imagine an X-Men movie by the directors of Everything Everywhere All At Once. Imagine what could happen if Marvel Comics lent some of their characters to legendary mangaka like ONE or Naoki Urusawa. Now keep imagining them. Because Disney isn’t going to do anything near that exciting with Marvel for the foreseeable years to come.

I want to note on the VFX comment in the Guardians 3 section. (I haven't seen the film yet.) The VFX team certainly had the resources to make it look great - but I don't think that's necessarily unique for the MCU. Every VFX team likely has the technical resources. The problem with recent MCU productions is the sheer amount of changes that happen during the VFX process. One thing that Gunn really shines at as a filmmaker is his insistence to finalize the script before production happens. Guardians 3 was written years before filming began. I'm sure some changes happened, but not near the overhaul that other productions have been cited to have. More than resources, the VFX team on Guardians had TIME and a consistent VISION.
15:10 I really hate the telepathy guy. His power is basically useless the way it’s shown and he has no respect for personal boundaries when using it. The movie implies it’s involuntary, but you’d think if he lived his whole life with it he’d be better at coping without whining about every stray thought someone has. I had hope for doctor strange continuing the good mcu movies after endgame but boy they threw that hope into the shitter, after endgame only Guardians of the galaxy 3 and spider man was canon for me, with this trilogy closed and the actors off the project the mcu is officially dead.
For me it ended with Infinity war.

It's incredible how far the MCU has fallen in quality and interest. What used to be a must-see is now not seen. That's all gone...now instead of "I can't wait to see what they'll do" it's "I can't wait to see how they fuck this up". what a shame...
Disney doesn’t respect: the original material, the characters, the backstory, the lore, the audience, history, morality, men, it’s own storylines, death…
Nope. For mouth breathers maybe but I've never gone past Ultron.
For me it has become "I can't wait to igonre their entire catalogue and watch someone entertaining make fun of it on youtube later".
I remember seeing Avengers twice in theaters; the line was so long it went outside in the MORNING. And now it's this...
Whats the worst thing we can really say about like, kate bishop or kamala? they're young and unfunny? @@GuiltlessGear I get what you’re saying. But this isn’t on the performances, it’s moreso on the writing. But if iron heart is as extremely good as it gets, I just struggle to see how she’s head and shoulders below any other characters that have been introduced, in terms of their capacity to be unlikable

My opinion phase five MCU :
Ant man and the wasp quantumania : awful
Guardians of the galaxy vol 3 : perfect
Secret invasion : awful
Loki season 2 : good
The marvels : awful
What if season 2 : meh
Echo : boring
Deadpool & wolverine : very good
Agatha all along : decent
Guardians of the Galaxy vol3 was easily the best of all of these
Though it wasn’t a high bar to clear, I personally *loved* vol3
I don't even know what echo is 😭
I don't think Quantumania was awful..? May you elaborate why you think that?
@@nellie4621 I think quantumania was supposed to be the first film of phase five and with Kang they dropped any stakes with the ending having him overpowered by ants, I think alot of scenes were reshot so it’s cohesion is probably rushed in the same way of how it builds the story for the next films to follow. It’d be a decent standalone film as it’s visually pretty good from what I remember but as apart of a franchise it’s just disjointed with nothing to build off of
The marvels was not awful it might’ve been whatever but it’s above mediocre
I have nothing but sympathy for Paul Rudd. It wasn't his fault Quantumania died on arrival. He deserves better.

yeah Disney content in general. The song that girl sang in the “Wish” movie also sucked too, lyric wise and rhythm wise.
Can’t believe they ruined Kang. In the MCU movies he’s just not a big enough threat if he got bested by ant man
I'd have gone with Michael Korvac. He has a very human motivation, and it would provide a chance to introduce the future Guardians of the Galaxy.

Was not gonna NOT watch the movie, since I'd invested 10 yrs of my life since Iron Man was released.

Adam Warlock is a perfect example of marvel not understanding how to rework an idea into a new one.

>Peter says "stay Drax" and says that to Mantis so Drax can't do a stupid move (for some reason they stay even if they can go at least Drax with Groot and Peter)
>They do a stupid move and both with Nebula are in the ship of the High Evo
WHAT KIND OF WRITING IS THAT, Peter made a plan and gets the win and this 2 GO WITHOUT REASON AT ALL.
After watching deadpool n wolverine, id say its a total 180 turn of what disney marvel has been releasing lately. Recommend every marvel, blade and gambit fan watching it
Beautiful video, and the ending was wonderful, it gave me a quick breath out the nose kind of laugh. Ggs
It goes to show me how uninterested I’ve become in the MCU, I didn’t even realise these were phase 5 properties I thought we were still in phase 4. Hell I didn’t even realise that The Marvels was even a film or that What If got a season 2
Finally an MCU followup worth watching.
The pistol and joban call signs are huge for me bro. I love you, man.
Amazingly, phase 5 has so far been WORSE than phase 4!
The only good thing was Guardians 3
@@chasehedges6775yep, the only bright spot
@@GIBBO4182👍
@@chasehedges6775Ant Man getting 3 movies, the same as Cap and Iron Man is weird to me, and Captain Marvel getting a 2nd movie, which The Marvels was essentially is why they are failing. We all wanted a Guardians 3…no one is asking for these other movies!

1:54 Betterhelp, out of all sponsors you choose it?
What's wrong with Betterhelp? I don't really know anything about it.
@@Roach_Milk they had unqualified therapists who were negligent, there’s plenty of videos about it and more iirc
@@Lezm Ah, damn.
I agree SO MUCH about Jonathan Majors. Did not EVER get the hype about his performance. He makes the same face in every single scene, in every single appearance.
I literally binged your phase 4 vids last night. This was perfect timing!
Brother, your editing is fucking pristine. I love your insights, but goddam if I don't laugh my ass off all the way thru these videos
0:23 nah fr i flew myself into the dc side
For me, there are only two Ant-Man movies. There is no Ant-Man 3.
W.
The fact that you reference it tho means you know there is.
I thought Loki season two was enjoyable enough, ant man 3 was bad but the main problem I had with it was modok who’s cgi looked like absolute crap, secret invasion was so bad I couldn’t even watch past the second episode, the marvels was pretty bad but it was enjoyable enough and beast in the after credits scene was cool. Honestly, marvels recent movies are all missed opportunities that could’ve been amazing if done better
Deadpool and Wolverine are in this phase too. Except it was one of the few that was actually good!
One thing I gotta say is how I hate the term Pseudo-Storm you kept using to describe that ugly Marvels villain. Storm is one of the hottest characters from X-Men, and comparing that African beauty to this gross mannish-looking character is an insult to the 90s cartoon and the beautiful art of the comics.
If I were a character this movie, I’d probably tell him to f-k off after his first scene, but then again I’d say that about a lot of characters in this movie.
Majors has been fired? Well, he does not remains anymore.
12:22 I *did* watch Loki first...and completely forgot that Kang was in that series. (And I *liked* Loki!)
Genuine question. Why? Whats to like about the Loki show?
@@Werewolf.with.Internet.Access I like Tom Hiddleston, and the multi-verse idea seemed interesting...so much so that Loki sometimes seemed like an extra in his own show. Now, the multi-verse bit seems played out already, and I still haven't watched Loki Season 2.
the fact th big ending was guardians desperate to save lab animals while a billion lives died below them and they didn't save any says a lot
Can't wait for this man to talk about Echo, I love his analysis and that thing is pure trash, keeping the tradition of the rest of the post-Infinity War MCU.
0:25 the greatest Seth Rollins clip ever is in an MCU review... I love it.
I really love guardians 3. It may not be the best but it’s refreshing and i love it
Remember when they didnt have to tell us what "stage" we were in? Because you could just tell by the story? And like the actual tentpole Avenger films?
I wish James Gunn respected Drax as much as you say he respects the audience.
I have the artbook for Endgame. When you reach the chapter about the final battle, you'll see a piece of concept art which depicts Drax pinning down a Chitauri Gorilla as Hulk is about to bodyslam it.
The artists respected Drax more than the directors.
@@dannypalin9583 Man, that would have been so cool
@@dannypalin9583he should have had some moment with Thanos in Endgame. What a waste.
@@DavidMartinez-ce3lpthey spent all that time playing hot potato with the fucking gauntlet when we coulda seen new and interesting team ups against thanos.
@jinmali we should seen an actual plan. We used to get Cap laying out the strategy and then adapting the plan to the situation. This one it was just 2 sides running at each other. Would've been way cooler to see the leaders communicate and lay out some strategy to their team. I felt it was a little lazy to not do that
