I've played for 40 years and never thought I'd be so inspired much more by anyone, and then came you ladies! Love the way you and your band plays. Love your technique, tones and gear. I am writing a surf tune now thanks to your enthusiasm for the music.
I'm not a musician, but I never fail to be impressed at how rich & full your sound is. Even sitting there on the couch, playing solo, there's so much depth & resonance to your playing. Love it!
I had a Fender '65 Jaguar back in the '60s......sold it to buy books for College (kicking my ass for that)........dropped out of music for many years and just picked it back up about five (5) years ago with a great instructor......I 'hooked' him on to surf music and now he asks me to send him songs so we can work on next lesson ;-)) You guys are great and hope that you keep up with the 'surf music'..............no singing involved ! ! !
Wow, a rotary telephone! My son started learning surf guitar a long time ago at private music lessons because that's what he heard me listening to. Today he's a hoarder of guitars and equipment. He has one room at his house dedicated to guitar stuff. He must have over 30 guitars now. There's nothing like surf music.
That color speaks compellingly, I would have listened. 😸 My amplifiers insisted, then demanded, that I buy them a Bass VI. I am not man enough to play Bass, so I will just tune it down to C or D, but who am I to argue? A black Squier is on its way. 🎸
Considering Leo Fender's last place of employment was with G&L in which he fixed a ton of things like engineering the bridge completely different. I would say the Fender Strat is subpar in the eyes of the guy who invented it. There was enough wrong with the original design to make Leo want to address some of the quirks and kinks. That was his reasoning, not mine. So if you want the best playing guitar and one that Leo was actually proud of then its G&L not Fender. If it says "Stratocaster" on it then it is broken according to the standard of Leo Fender.

One of the first things I noticed when I discovered you guys on UA-cam, besides all of your talents and good looks, was that guitar. I don’t think I have ever seen that color. The maple neck makes it pop. Keep rocking ladies and stay healthy👍👍👍👍
What I love most is the interaction between Shermy and Nicole, switching from chords to lead, much like Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood while Sarah and Annie lay down the groove!!!
Nicole that is a good looking Strat. Love all the music that the band does. Look forward to new videos from y’all. Greetings from Lubbock, Tx. Home town of Buddy Holly. Maybe someday y’all will make it down this way to play. 🤠🎸🤘
It was that Strat that made me click on the thumbnail of one of your videos! ( but you guys playing made me subscribe) Burgundy Mist a classic and beautiful Fender custom color from the 60's. Ill bet your neck is a 'modern C' just like the one on mine. If yours was Olympic White they would be twins. Mine came with Fat 50's pickups that I love. Your Awesome . Rave on !

When its creator applied that fabulous colour although he or she didnt know you .....it was you pictured in their mind. You guys are the very best......much luv....old guy here👍😻🌞
Nicole, i love the videos with you and Shermy (and the band videos as well). Thank you for sharing them they always bring a smile. Id like to hear you play some of your favorite Jimmy Page riffs as well!
Fantastic gear Nicole! Fenders are the ultimate surf guitars. You and the Surfrajettes are are outstanding! I'd love to hear you cover Ennio Morricone's theme from For a Few Dollars More. In fact any of Morricone's classic Spaghetti Western tunes would be groovy!
OMG that guitar just jumps to life in your hands!!! Incredible sound, and I love how you said it's just so easy/ friendly to play! Oh and purple is my favorite color too 💜
That guitar is so nice; the color is really unique and cool and it sounds excellent of course. It'd be cool to hear the story about how excactly the Surfrajettes formed or just a little more about your history as a band. "Behind the Music: The Surfrajettes"
Hi Nicole to have always enjoyed surf music and your band inspired me to get a Fender Original 60's Jazzmaster. And have been working in a list of classic songs. I use the Surf Rider reverb pedal. I understand that the Dano Electric's are good surf guitars and can reasonably priced. Look forward to your touring. Had planned to see you all play in San Jose, CA but then Covid struck. Love the band and can't wait to see you all playing live!
Nicole I love your guitar. I bought an American Standard new in 2008 and it's perfect. I also inherited my brother's mim strat. It was a great feeling guitar but sounded buzzy with the ceramic pickups. I found a loaded pick guard with all new, vintage pieces. The pickups are Flying Mojo Purple haze. There was a family that had a contract with Fender in the mid 60's making pickups. When CBS bought Fender they lost the contract. All the parts to make the pickups got stored and forgotten until a few years ago. The bobbins, wire all of it. So these pickups are 1960's Fender. Just assembled recently.
It is so nice to see beautiful young Women with no tattoo's body piercings or multi colored hair. Beside that you all have integrity and are so good at what you do. Thanks for taking me back to the early 60's surf band era. I was on the front lines back then playing bass for several So Cal surf bands. I've caught several of your covers but haven't seen any Dick Dale stuff (Misirlou, Hava Nagilla, Let's Go Trippin, Surf Beat) or some of the stuff that became known as surf music even though that wasn't it's initial inspiration. Boss by the Rumblers comes to mind and not to overlook the early stuff by the Fireballs (Bulldog, Torquay, Footpatter) plus Caterpillar Crawl, original by the Strangers...covered by the LIvely Ones. All of these were staples with every band I played with and they all allow for personal interpretation. I'd love to hear you guys cover some of these.
Love the band…so true to the original spirit of surf; love your playing; love that beautiful Strat (and hope you kept the Les). .…and love your Mary Weiss hair style.
I have been searching for all the videos you and others have posted featuring your band and I really appreciate the great surf music you and the rest of the Surfrajettes produce. I have a Fender Deluxe + guitar with a roller nut and attempt to play all sorts of songs in a surf style; I enjoy your efforts with Britney Spears' and Beatles' songs. I try to pick music with minor keys for the best surf sound. Anyway, please keep on doing these videos and I'll buy that dvd about The Ventures that you're a part of, plus dvds of your group, too!

I'm predominantly a metal guitar player with some blues and yes! A bit of surf. Fender Strats are great for surf. The twang is what your after. Beautiful guitar.

It probably does, it's from when things were made to last. But you couldn't actually use it, cos the system is digital. They could wire up their own system in the house & clubhouse. I had a railway historian pal who collected trackside telephones from the abandoned Erie Railroad in Indiana, along w/110v AC to 12v DC transformers he got from abandoned interlocking towers he raided, & in the 80's & 90's, he had them in both floors of the house, the basement, & the non-attached garage. They had cranks instead of dials, cos they were on the railroad's dispatch system, not connected to the normal phone network. If his wife needed something & he was in the garage, she just cranked the kitchen phone & he'd answer the garage phone. Bear in mind that this was 1980-2002, before cell phones, so it was a neat thing to have. In winter, for example, she didn't have to get all dressed up to go say things in the garage, just crank the phone. When he moved to his 10-acre ranch in the boondocks, he installed the system there, where the house & garage were 200 feet apart. The basement & kitchen phones were connected to that, as usual. There, he also had a parallel system using 1950's-60's pay phones.
Great video! Especially liked hearing about the Canyon reverb, I hadn't noticed how nasally the reverb pedal I use is, just knew there was something off about it. Thanks for sharing!
Oh, no shit! I guess I'm not the only one that uses an Ehx Canyon for reverb. Like you, I've tried dedicated reverbs and found the Canyon works as well as most of them, and then some. Love your Strat and your playing. My 96 Strat Plus is my hands down go to, but I've been wanting a Jazzmaster lately. Keep rocking the surf!
Beautiful guitar. Great drippy surf tone. I put those string-trees on my old vintage fender strat and it improved the tuning stability . . . tremendously. oNe LovE from NYC
You ladies not only have chops, you are spot on with your equipment! Your great looking Strat, all the tube stuff, that really cool Jaguar of Shermy's and that new guitar of hers (all single coil pickups.) The reverb is superb, both your foot pedal and the Fender Reverb sound awesome. One of my faves is Driving Guitars by the Ventures. You four would kill it in that one, as you do on all your other stuff! Keep the great music coming!
Great story and pretty guitar to go along which inspires me as a guitarist and to top it off we get to hear great Surf guitar which I always love from you guys!
Love it! Maple forever. Such a classic retro-color too. On mine I went for the "Space Theme" Translucent Blue over ash, with a Galaxy (blue with stars) fretboard from New Zealand. 🤩 That thing is perfect for you. It chose you, not the other way around. ⚡
Hello Nicole Great Guitar and I'm a Massive Fan of your Band !!...Love the Vibes I used to listen to the Ventures as a child and you guys sure play wicked songs !!!...All the Best and stay safe !☆☆☆☆☆🎸🎸🎸🎸
Thanks for the rig rundown Nicole. I had the Boss FRV-1 (Fender 63) Reverb pedal, I also found it trebly. I sold it a while ago, now awaiting the EHX Canyon to arrive 😁. Keep up the good work, love the Surfrajettes; keeping these classic sounds alive and well. Not forgetting Toxic, which although not a vintage song, has been transformed by the Surfrajettes 🌊🌊🌊.
Such a beautiful Strat! I’m sort of a delay hoarder, I could make a pedalboard just out of my delay collection/obsession. Then I bought the Canyon, quality and quantity of sounds, mind blown! Most of my other pedals are gathering dust. I love your simplified, perfect rig.

Some of my favourite guitarists have played the Strat. Ritchie Blackmore. Jimi Hendrix and Tommy Bolin to name but a few. I like your Surfing sound and how you play the Strat.
A clean Strat with a nice reverb is one of my favorite sounds in the world. It’s so pure.
"Way more than I was planning on spending, but I had to have it." Probably what my wife will have put on my tombstone.
That also applied to my wife!
I am guessing she sold the Les Paul in order to purchase the Fender.
You can't put a price on quality.
If my wife only really knew how many electric guitars i have! I enjoy this Band's love for guitar/music.

Thank you Nicole!🎶🎸👍
Some of my favourite guitarists have played the Strat. Ritchie Blackmore. Jimi Hendrix and Tommy Bolin to name but a few. I like your Surfing sound and how you play the Strat.
