Most people aren't knowledgeable about guitars but I AM a master luthier and I have been for over thirty years. I do EVERYTHING inside and out of musical instruments - not just guitars. I make my own parts not just necks and bodies. This is really cool to look at. You could've started out with the Johnny Marr signature Jaguar as your building platform. It has the three way switch although it's very expensive. Those gold foil pickups sound great although the original ones were in garbage guitars back in the day you can do some really impressive music with them. I know they're not cheap because of the DeArmond name but that's all hype. I live in USA but I am three hundred miles or so from you. It's good to see that there are women out there that understand music and surf music at that! It's also good that you know your guitar and how to make the best music with it that you can. Thank you for sharing this with the rest of us although I just watched it for the first time today.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I have been watching your videos for a couple of years now and admiring your Jaguar from afar. This up close look and detailed description of how you got it and how it was modified is fantastic.
What an awesome job on the Jaguar! I did something of the same to my Fender MIM Classic Player Jaguar, but went a bit more vintage traditional (Olympic White, Red tortoise guard, Upgraded bridge, Fender noiseless stacked single coils, rewired to custom specs and electronics). This is something all you, and completely unique. There's no words for how cool your instrument is, love the finish, love the pickups, love the whole thing, You guys are amazing!
Top tip from a scale modeller who uses lacquer over decals every day, is just brush a small amount of Johnsons/Pledge Kleer floor polish over the decal and allow to dry prior to the lacquer coat. You dont need to coat the whole headstock just enough to seal the decal edges.
Tru Oil is the secret weapon .Even a lot of younger luthiers don't know about it, - old school.Originally used on gun stocks, and you could find it at sporting goods shops, but now it's only on line.
