The Surfrajettes played Tiki Oasis this past summer and very generously got me on the guest list so I could come film. I FINALLY FINISHED EDITING THE FOOTAGE! I might have gotten a bit ambitious with 4 cameras running at the same time but I think it turned out pretty decent. Anyways huge thanks to the Surfrajettes for getting me in so I could share my favorite bits of their show with you.

I was there! Just off camera, but right up by the stage. They sounded great! Having seen them a couple times before, I can confidently say that Samantha's drumming has elevated the group.

Sarah plays a stand up bass, and has a killer voice as well. Would be a cool distraction. I dont hear any lack in the drum area either. The new drummer is great. Has a bit of "Animal" in her from the Muppets.

The drummer is Samantha Maloney she has played with Hole, The Eagles of Death Metal, and Motley Crue to name a few! She is completely amazing.
That's a different Samantha Maloney. But our Sam's done some great stuff too. Check out Kalli Horse for starters.

Shermy & Nicole talk about their guitars on their website or youtube channel. When they tour, they don't bring their amps. They use whatever amps are provided.

@@vintagetubeamplifiers I have my channel "Dave F", used only for surf music live videos. I posted several videos of the Surfrajettes at the 2019 SG101 convention. I always seek band approval before making any video public. I was not able to contact them to approve the videos. Eventually someone from Hi Tide approved them. Surfrajettes are not easy to contact. If you can make direct contact, you are better than I am.

Thanks for sharing. This is great, would love to see the whole show. I have been a Surfrajettes fan since I discovered them on UA-cam back in Jan 20. I just love what they do. I live in hope that one day they might visit us in the UK for a tour.

People feign being music experts while they critique the sound of a video someone made with a phone or any other type of video camera. It obviously isn't mixed for a broadcast and has no bearing on how the performance sounded live.
I wouldn't call myself an expert (just have A level musjc) but I think what this band does is brilliant and the audience experience is captured well on this video - people bobbing around in front but not too obtrusively..just got it perfect

They seem to have trouble keeping a drummer. If it's an image issue maybe they should look a little deeper.
The root of it appears to be that the Greater Toronto Area has a thriving music scene, the likes of which has largly deserted some countries including my own. Accordingly The Surfrajettes have to find personnel that aren't busy doing their thing. Annie Liilis will be on drums at the next event - The Beach Boys Cruise a couple of weeks from now.

You don't have to tell me about the Surfagettes. I'm already a big fan. I saw them back in April at viva Las Vegas 25. I met them there and they signed my LP. They are 14 kinds of awesome and Sarah Butler is nice on the eyes.

One dslr on a tripod. Two go pros on stage and an iPhone in my hand. And I still felt nervous that I wasn’t getting the shots I wanted lol.
I never knew I would hear a band that cover two tracks from the Yardbirds and actually delivers both of them better than the originals.

She IS great, but almost certainly has had the most "exposure" of any member of this band.
I enjoy guitar instrumentals so I liked their presentations. Being from the 1960's and 1970's era I certainly like the short dresses and the go go boots, took me right back to that time frame. These ladies aren't as young as one might think.

I love their sound, however I can’t help thinking a vocalist on their version of heart of glass would sound awesome, I get it’s all about the instruments and how they resonate, ( I play guitar myself), but it would be interesting to see how that could work, I love the new drummer as well………..?

Notice the hot Rod Deville amps sitting behind both guitarist! Can anyone argue how good these amps sound with the sound that they are getting on stage in a live setting!? As good as these amps sound, I would even give a slight edge to the blues deluxe reissue… Just my own personal experience owning both of these amps. Just my opinion, fender got it right with the circuits in both of these amps as they both present a very fat well-rounded sound/tone. These young ladies are very talented and I’m sure they will enjoy success for a long time!

How long have the Surfrajets been playing? I swear I saw them back in the late 90s in WPB FL. Small club that was way too small for the band they were.
After watching them a lot and following them, I just now noticed this drummer (who isn't with them currently) did not have the same retro hairstyle. The new one does, though.
