    Correction: What I called "Chucklehead" in the video were actually Green Spotted Rockfish. Apologize for the misconception!

    I think your Chucklehead (7:15) is actually a Greenspotted rockfish...which are also very tasty. Great video, I always enjoy your footage and commentary.

    Awesome video. Me and friends are about to go on our second charter. This time for rockfish around Catalina. Your video was very helpful for a new technique to try. Looking forward to new videos.

      @@BRODBK009 Yes, but 6oo' is quite a long haul. At least for me, these days. It takes away a lot of fighting pleasure, however. Maybe some type of foam ring might help protect the rod.
      Thanks for sharing Jim!

    Great video but Shouldn’t your main line be attached to the side of the jig with the eye on it? Just curious. Never seen it attached to the bottom of the jig.

    The sea's pretty calm. Nice video! It seems you were targeting bottom fish during the trip. Did you use 300 g jigs for the 600 ft deep water all day long, Or try different weights of jigs?

      Never done SPJ fishibg before. I want to get into it. What was the deepest depth you can fished for rock fishing? Don't think 500g can hit the bottom when fishing 600ft with current.

      If you want huge cows and reds you need to fish deep 1200 to 1600 feet

    • @BoringFisherman
      @BoringFisherman 2 роки тому

      100' is very shallow. I usually fish 300+ for rockfish whenever I can get out to do long leader. If I am on the nearshore reefs I'm between 100-200' and that's on light tackle.
      I guess it's all part of where you live
