Me too i got a phenix titan slow jig rod pair with accurate vilant spj 500n and a kyoto rod pair with ocea jigger 1500 matter of fact i go out san diego this week for yellowtail and see how it go ! Tight line!
Cool video! I picked up the same temple reef rod too. Heading out on a 2 day trip out of San Diego in a couple weeks, looking forward to trying SPJ either on some pelagics or bottom fish. Either way just excited to get out there and try this new method. Hoping to get lucky and score a bluefin on my Benny Ortiz rod!!
Thanks, John. I'm still at my very beginning stage of SPJ, so I'm just trying different setups and exploring. To be honest, I'm still a bit scared of using 20lb, but since it produced good results for my last trip, I'll continue to use it. Worst case scenario: I broke the 20lb braid and lose a jig/fish. It's the price I'm willing to pay for learning this technique :)
That Temple Reef Innovate Rod is almost impossible to find these days with the popularity of SPJ taking off here on the EC.
Awesome video🤙🏼🤙🏼I have the same innovate rod Benny Ortiz edition. Can’t wait to use it. Thanks for specifying the line and jig weights👍🏼👍🏼
I'm glad you liked it! Do you also fish SoCal waters?
@@JimFanFishing i do and I can’t wait to use my rod I had it paired to an accurate SPJ 500N. I have slow pitched a couple of trips only.

with the size of fish you caught at deeper 500-600 feet, is it worth as these sizes in swallower water?
Do you put mono between your mainline and jig?
I put fluorocarbon in between jig and braided line. 10-15 feet.
What is the slow pitch setup? The rod and reel?
my current setup: Temple Reef Innovate MH. Accurate BV 300 SPJ
Great video Jim! What's your Instagram?
Just created one for fishing: JimFanFish I've been following some of your videos and jigs as well, cool stuff!
