- After watching a couple hateful reviews on the ESC70, I felt obligated to do a bit of a review myself. Since I’ve had nothing but good luck with these esc’s for the last year, I had to at least put my two cents in. This is a long rant filled video, so I don’t imagine many people will make it through to the end. Regardless, I hope this is at least somewhat helpful. If you’ve got any questions or want to see something I may have missed, leave a comment and I’ll do my best to answer. Thanks for watching.
New to your channel, voice sounds awesome, like the dj from super sounds of the 70s in reservoir dogs.
ESC 70 worked fine for me and was super smooth compared to rtr units. It does seem to be hit and miss for some people.
The curves and pwm control are super useful.
They've released the esc90 now....
I think it's important to get the message out that rc crawling doesn't have to cost a lot of money and you can have plenty fun on a budget. Products like the esc70 definitely help.
Loved the spinning rock intro, hilarious 😂
I really enjoy Mr Canyons channel, it's a shame he did not get on well with 70, he did give it a fair go as well but oh well, were all just playing with toy trucks so it doesn't really matter.
Liked, subbed.
Thanks, much appreciated! I’ll stand behind the ESC70 100%, I’ve had far better luck with it than I have with the 1080. Actually about to upload another video comparing the two in my Basecamp. It’s not even close, when it comes to the overall performance, as far as my personal preference on handling goes. As far as Crawler Canyon goes… I have been watching his videos for a couple years now, haven’t agreed with everything, but didn’t have any complaints. Solid content. However, the last two “reviews” of the ESC70 were complete bias bs. I don’t expect him to convert everything to ISD, he is a Hobbywing guy through and through and I’ve got zero issue with that. My issue with this whole ordeal is that he has got a fairly large following of people who seem to take his word as gospel, which means when he fudges a “review” he is actually steering people away from an otherwise great product. Especially people who may be new to the hobby and/or don’t want to drop a bunch of money on parts, and now they will completely avoid a product that is cheaper and potentially performs better. That is what got my blood boiling a bit. Now I’m no saint, but I won’t mislead anyone who is listening for advice. I’ve always been of a mindset that, the bigger this hobby grows… the better it’ll be for everyone. So I do my best to show the true performance of the products I run, and let the parts speak for themselves. Hopefully that comes through in my videos as intended.
your video format is real life. its just fine you show it doing its thing. i say keep doing what you are doing. real life is better than all the smoke screens some out there do! role camera bloopers and all makes better imho!
Thanks. Yea, no smoke and mirrors or fronts here!
Have u tried the Esc90
Not yet, but it’s definitely on the list.
Besides the 70a & 90a the user experience seems to be the same. I’ve only been using the Esc90 for few days. Pls share your experience when u do get it. Thanks!
I’ll definitely share whatever happens when I end up with the 90. It probably won’t be real soon though as I’m working on a couple brushless rigs at the moment, but the next time I dive into another brushed build, that’s gonna be what I go with for sure.
Good review opinions matter. Opening up your mind not closing always makes things better.
Thanks. Agreed!
Enjoyed your review of the ISDT ESC70. It's thorough, clear and simple😊
Eyeing the newer ESC90, hope it's trouble free as yours
The latest firmware update according to the ISD Go app for the ESC90 is 1.2.26 updated on May 29, 2023
Thanks. They’ve been good to me. I saw that there was another update a few weeks back, that’s always good to see that they’re keeping up with it.
@@DRZ-RC hi, i would just like to ask if you're still using the ESC70? If so, how is the performance? Still problem free and works flawlessly? Thanks
Yea, I’ve still got both of them in rigs currently. No issues. I still very much prefer the ESC70 when I’m running a brushed setup. Until someone comes out with something new, at a similar price point, that gives all the options for tuneablility that these do… I’ll continue to run these.
@@DRZ-RC thanks for the reply
I'll be ordering one soon can't wait 😁
No problem. I know some people have complained about having issues with them, but I’ve had really good luck with the 3 that I’ve had over the last couple years. Hopefully they treat you well too!
Bro!!!! You should do voice overs more! Like hearing you talk about stuff. Maybe like a 50/50 . Anyhow really enjoyed seeing a review on this with someone who understands throttle curves and using a app. Running fpv I love using the speedybee Bluetooth app! Esc looks great with someone who knows how to use it. Gate keeper is coming along very nice to bro
Thanks. Yea, I don’t know how or why these esc’s get such a bad rep. It took some fiddling with at first to figure things out, but after that everything has been great. In some situations, I absolutely believe that this esc is a better option, but not everyone is in the same boat here. If I’ve had a good experience with any product, I’ll stand behind it 100%! If not, I’ll speak up on it, but if I hear that it’s been improved down the road… I’ll give it another shot with an open mind right from the start. Especially with something that’s got this many potential benefits and programmable parameters.
@@DRZ-RC Everything is learning curve. At the price there selling it for I mean it's take some learning! Is the a way to update firmware or is it just being sent out with latest and that's what u get?
I honestly don’t have a clue about the update situation, I’ve never had any of the issues other people have, so I’ve never done any digging to see if you can actually update anything through the app or not. I’ve got to assume, from what I’ve seen in other videos, ya get whatever ya get. But the next time I get this rig fired up, I’ll get in there and do some digging and see what I can figure out. Never even thought about looking for any updates, when it comes to technology, I’ve always been of the mindset “if it ain’t broke… don’t fix it.” I’ll see what I can figure out, and I’ll get back to ya on that.
@@DRZ-RC lmao I'm with you on that!! I'm thinking it's what you get to and they probably have did there own updates since release. Ok cool man thank you,🤜
No problem. It may be a few days before I get back to either of the rigs with the ESC70, but I got you whenever I do.
Hi from across the pond. I'm at 7 of the esc70 so far, had one failure, went haywire switching off and on. I can buy 3 of these for less than the price of a 1080 in the UK. Not had a single problem setting them up, throttle curve is fantastic and low speed modulation is awesome. The jitter that you get on yours is easy to get rid of, all you have to do is back off the drag brake one level at a time until it no longer does it. I have found that getting this set right makes no difference to the effectiveness of the drag brake, it just stops the jitter.
Yea, currently I’ve got 4-ESC70’s and 1- ESC90 and I’ve got zero issues with any of them. I’ve actually acquired another ESC70 that another UA-camr has reviewed more than once and swore it was garbage… however, after setting it up properly, it works great. I’ll have a video on that whole thing once it uploads. The ESC70 is hands down my favorite brushed speed controller.
Mine was great, had it set up nice and smooth. Then all of a sudden would not turn on, so back running a 1080.
That sucks. I’ve not had any issues with any of mine. They’ve been ran hard and put away wet, literally, for a solid year and still working great. I definitely prefer these over the 1080 enough that if one or all burn up, I’ll just buy more.
Great video 👍 Crawler canyon didn’t have great luck and I’ve not yet tried one but going brushless kinda negates the need.
Yea, I’ve had awesome luck with them so far. Definitely my “go to” brushed esc now. I just got that exact ESC70 that Crawler Canyon was having issues with, ended up paying shipping just to have him send it to me. So I’ll be doing a video pulling it out of the package and seeing exactly how he had it set up… then I’ll set it up how I do all the others and see if it works, or if he was just one of the unlucky few to get a junk esc. Either way, it should make for a good video.
@@DRZ-RC definitely be watching that one👍
@NEO-RC hoping to get that one done this weekend, just depends on the weather though.
How many turns are the best with this esc ?i mean want the less heat as possible?
I’ve only run this esc in crawlers, so usually between 21t and 35t is what I’ve used. I’ve never had any heat related issues at all.
Very Naice Review
Thanks
@@DRZ-RC You're welcome!
Yooo nice ì just put esc70 in and must say that throttle control setting is where at you can really dail in that throttle with it if you could do that with the 1080 it would be unstoppable 👏 check out some my videos doing some esc70 soon yooo
Heck yea! Totally agree, if Hobbywing would give us the same programming options that Castle and ISDT do, they would probably be top dog in the game… but the lack of tuning options keeps me going with the ESC70 and now the ESC90 as well for my brushed setups.
