I used to watch his videos for entertainment. Now I watch out of admiration, and maybe more importantly, education. Not just on RC stuff, but kev drops helpful pearls of knowledge outside of RC stuff often, and if you're paying attention you can learn from them. He's self made and I really appreciate and admire that.
I'm really into engineering and I watch so many videos to learn about it. but it seems sometimes I learn more about stuff on this channel instead of videos with the main focus of leaning engineering lol
Kev, I think the carb it running good in the higher rpm but the low end is bogging bad. I’d adjust the low speed needle abit. Always start with one and a half turns out and tune half turn at a time until you get it responding good. Carbed 2 strokes need tuning all the time, elevation and air temp all play factors. Factory settings are probably set for 20c at sea level.
@@KevinTalbotTV hey Kevin! I like the videos a lot and was wondering if you could make a video on the Redcat shredder? I’m debating between that or the traxxas slash 4x4 vxl! I’m a small youtuber and want to make videos on rc cars! Do you have any suggestions?
Great Video Kev put the stock gears back in it for muddying , skate park run the middle gears. And I moved the tank back to put the air filter on a higher angle, sort of tuning the air filter adapter reverse. Pointing up , Other then that a good tune on the 46 engine it’s a good combo for the Raminator 👍
hi keV .. I'm an old guy who has fixed engines since young.... u r the only utuber i've seen correctly oil those type of filter..... goood stuff man👍 edit. now ive watched all... probly saved engine.....?
You see RC videos usually it's some guy with something like 5k subs who is incredibly quiet but this guy never disappoints I've been watching for 3+ years now and I watch this channel out of pure inspiration
I typically start engine turn air fuel screw to the right until it starts to sputter... I then turn to left until it starts to run rough... I set in the middle and fine tune up or down as spark plug colour indicates
Dude that thing screws!! I’m amazed with the way you run in your engines. Just balls to the walls dude!! Compared to me anyway. I baby them till I feel comfortable pinning it.
TIP: When reducing the head size of a bolt or screw. If you put them in the chuck of a cordless drill and and spin against a file etc you'll get a more even finish.
@Andrew Edward sure. It just depends on yer end goal i reckon. If you want machined precision without a lathe, a drill press is yer friend. If looks aren't a concern, get down n dirty with an angle grinder 🤘y'all have a badass day🤘🍻🤘
We need to see more 2 stroke! You should build a big bore baja or hybrid! Love your videos Kev always waiting on the next one as I’m addicted to watching them😂
I love how Kevin knows so much about rc cars! I am 14 years old and I live in Michigan, I have a friend who likes rc cars as well. I have only recently wanted to get into the hobby of rc cars. Thanks Kevin for teaching us so much about rc cars.
This was great content man! Need more 1/5 scale petrol videos, they just have so much going for them with how awesome they sound and realistic.. sold my Baja 5t but keen to get a rovan LT for that wheel drive goodness 😎
Next time you water foul it, hold your finger over the spark plug hole and crank it over. It helps get more water out faster... I used to do it to my dirtbikes.
@Kevin Talbot no, cause your finger pressure isn't enough to seal the hole. The engine compression will push your finger off the hole and blow out more water due to the slight pressure increase in the cylinder. Try it next time. You will see more mist come out when you do this after getting the initial water out. Also heat the tip of the spark plug to dry it off a bit..
Hey Kev, deciding between the xmaxx or the XRT. Cant get both sadly and my terrain ranges from skate parks and pump tracks to off-road rocky rough terrain to construction sites to fields. I hear the XRT with xmaxx tires makes it the perfect RC. Could you possibly do a video with this and see how well it does? Thanks

That brake bolt, you should drill all the way threw and add a nut on the back side. So the factory threads but jam nutted on the back side. Had to do that on 2 of my losi's works good.
Next time you can bring some carb cleaner, flood the carb with cleaner while you pull it over, then pull it a few more times to clear it out, the carb cleaner wont hang out anywhere after its flushed the water out, no need for spark plug removal usually
Use vet wrap around your filter, it allows it to breath but keeps the water out and the filter cleaner. When you get the vet wrap dirty just remove it, inspect filter and then rewrap it and you're good to go!!!!
The fact that the losi looks small in this video is just crazy. I think i have got to start saving for one of primal's trucks. Prob cost as much as a decent actual car by the time it gets shipped to me in Australia.
I do want to see that thing take on more mud bogs, maybe not that deep muck, but still more mud! After all its a mud truck - you got other Raminators you can keep clean and do monster truck stuff with, keep getting this one dirty.
Sick! But its a bit strange that the raminator does not use a cvt or like a scooter clutch or something. It’s below it’s peak power like 90% of the time it sounds like

One thing that's never really mentioned in these videos, is your driving is actually really good with solid axle bashers.
Kev is a pro now at removing those motors now compared to his first time doing it .

he can't even modulate the throttle properly, just keeps mashing it over and over

I absolutely love Kevin 💯 a real attitude plus a world of honesty! Great video as always 😎
The fact that that car costs more than my jeep and half the mud trucks out there 😂😂😂 it's cool af tho
I saw one of the losi 5ive’s at a hobby shop the other day, and it’s unreal how big it is. Can’t imagine how huge the raminator is in person
Hi
I think it would be awesome if somebody stuffed a scale 4 stroke V8 in one of these, would definitely be a bit difficult but cool nonetheless
hey kev had an idea maybe take one of your NOS kits and hook it up to the raminator so can blast some mud holes.
yes!!
Quick question, maybe you could to do test budget crawler - FTX Mauler? Many ppl would like to start crawling with budget model, maybe one day? Thanks
It would be interesting to see if you did some upgrades to the reed valves or the exhaust to make it have better low end torque
I was thinking the same it has no torque on the low end and when it does start to move the tires it just spins them

I just realized something. The blue medal panel on the side of the truck looks like a skull, or the punisher.
kev have you ever tried putting extra exhaust silencers on the end of the stock exhaust to change the sound?

My favorite Raminator video ever.. I wonder if the red one with bigger tires would go through the mud ?
Hey Kev….I learned the hard way about the air filter oil and dust cover…. You should try a after market exhaust
Kev, get some Outwears for your filters bud, makes a massive difference to the clean air entering the carb.
while relocating the filter you need to find a way to direct the exhaust out the hood like a lot of mud trucks and old monster trucks did.

Why not fit both old steering servos on the brakes then you can adjust the front rear balance from the radio while making them even stronger.
