Might be fuel on the dumpster fire, but here's one thing I've learned with mine: Make sure the GPS location function on the phone/device is turned on ANY time you get into the app and/or connect with BT. The app does suck to navigate, but having the GPS on while connected makes it work smoother. The Furitek app is the same way.
If it helps, watching you go through settings opened my eyes to pulse width modulation on my isdt70. It made it way quieter to operate so thank you for that! Out of the box it was at 4… trying to find something positive. Love your videos and I understand your frustration.
I like my esc 70 I got a later version tho still alittle frustrating at first. You can adjust the red dots on the throttle curve . When your in the settings menu it disables the throttle output until you back out. Is it the best no but I'm happy with mine I took my time played with all the setting and dialed in how I like it. App is handy when out on the trail to check batt voltage and don't gotta pack a program card or get your hands muddy to change a setting. To get a slower reverse you can time your motor +12° (or move the red dot on the throttle curve)
I will say, it's at least kinda neat that the RC6GS V3 has battery telemetry right on the mail display, but I can't say I'd swap out a bunch of radios just to get the feature. I never really pay attention. Maybe this is another trailing thing-- meaning because I don't do it, and can change a battery or a setting whenever I need to.

Hi there loving the vids. Your commentary is top notch👍i heard you say for more drag brake you would put in a lower turn motor....wouldn't it be a hire turn? More torque more braking power? Im Just a little confused or misunderstood maybe😂
My brain constantly conflates kV and turns, which go in opposite directions: higher turns are slower, lower kV is slower. I have definitely learned that higher turn count does not necessarily guarantee more torque. On the other hand, more poles or fewer slots definitely do.

The new models would have to be utterly stupendous for me to even consider it based on past history, and I'm quite sure that it isn't. As a person who considers app integration-- sorry, app slaving-- more of a bug than a feature, I don't see the ESC70 as a competitor to the 1080. The best thing Hobbywing did was not put an app anywhere near the 1080 G2.
@@CrawlersCampRc I’ll definitely do a complete rundown video, it probably won’t be until this weekend due to work hours and daylight, but I’ll get it knocked out as quickly as I can. All of my Wraith videos and the majority of my Ecto videos (prior to going brushless) are perfect examples of zero issues running this esc. However, I haven’t recorded the entire process from start to finish, so I suppose some could say that’s inconclusive. So I’ll go back and do a 1 year review and walkthrough of the first and oldest ESC70 I bought (which is still in use).
I feel like you hate this ESC more than the reedy sc480x? With the reedy program card, it's not terrible. Nowhere near a 1080, but not bad for an RTR ESC. I never even considered one of these isdt esc's, and your rants cemented that decision for me. The struggle is real 😂
Oh, the iSDT ESC70 is the worst ESC in the world. As I've said in defense of the SC480x (the worst RTR ESC in the world) at least the Reedy works-- and it is conceivably free, as it comes in every Element RTR. No one (literally no one) is going out an buying an SC480x. People are buying the ESC70 on purpose, and voluntarily engaging with the worst "Bluetooth slaving" I've ever encountered. Some companies have down pretty well with Bluetooth . iSDT is not one of them. Buying an ESC70 is like paying a stranger in the street to kick you in the face.
@@CrawlerCanyon 🤣 I have a bunch of sc480x esc's, all free from various RTR element rigs. I bought the program card with my first element truck, comes in pretty handy to dial down some of that reverse punch.
In the video it looks like user error. You need to understand that even though it has bluetooth it doesn’t mean you should change parameters on the fly. Also you need to understand that whenever you connect the app to esc, it enters some sort of setup mode. When in setup mode, don’t expect to have all the running functions available and don’t hassle everything, just do the setup and save. Then esc will go back to ”running mode”, give little time for esc to connect to the app. Expecting instant connection is just ignorance. Just for example high end hobbywing esc’s needs reboot every time you change parameters in them via bluetooth or program card. Functionality of the bluetooth is basicly the idea not to carry program card with you. Phone is your card.
If you don't have hardware version 1.0.0.4, you basically don't know what you're talking about. If you have a newer version of the ESC, you have a different ESC than I do. Ask any early adopter, we all have the same issues. Beyond that, blaming the user for the poor performance of a product is not a slight to the user, it's a condemnation of the product. There is nothing intuitive about the ESC70 on any level-- nowhere in the menus or documentation does it ever mention how to reduce reverse, we're just expected to figure it out. I genuinely do not understand the vigilante-level willingness of ESC70 owners to defend this thing at every and any opportunity. I have never, EVER, not even once, gotten any indication that this ESC is even 70% as good as a 1080, and those were in the moments when the thing actually functioned... mostly. The app slaving alone is enough for me to NEVER recommend this ESC-- and I have to assume, from over here in my position of apparent ignorance that you've not had yours lose throttle calibration and just go dead on you a few dozen times. Lastly, I have an AXE V2 system, and have used the BT connection like... twice. It literally takes seconds, and that ESC has never once given me an issue of any kind, ever. Because it has app and not the ISDT situation where the app is absolutely required for the operation of the ESC. I will be over here, blissful in my ignorance, but if you truly believe that the ESC70 is superior to other brushed ESC options... then we're on equal footing.
@@CrawlerCanyon you got it all wrong. I’m not defending the esc at all. I’m just saying that your friustration to the product comes from expecting the product to do something that it’s not supposed to do. One more example, the throttle calibration. How about restart the esc when the throttle shows 70% on neutral? I did buy this when it came out, so I do know how it works, but I still didn’t use it more than twice since I just prefer brushless setups. I never said this esc is actually good and you talk about me hc defending it. :) I just said that in the video it looks like user error, since you don’t seem to undestand the state the esc is at when the bluetooth is connected and you jump into the parameter table. What I meant with high end hobbywing systems was also all the race stuff like xr, xr pro etc. They all need reboot after changing parameters.
22.12 this is by far the most hilariously frustrated I've seen you yet mate. Please make a monthly series on this esc it really made me chuckle 😂 (Yes I'm one of those annoying people who have two and they just seemed to work okay, super smooth low end and modulation, good luck !)
I bought one of these when they first came out and it's still new in a sealed box lol. I never even tried messing with it. I bought it simply because it was new and had Bluetooth but never could justify not using the many 1080s I have. So, in box it stays 😂
Just curious. maybe do a video on the hustlers one more time. But this time shave them down about 30%. I'd be curious to see if a shorter knobby would help. I know it going to be painful, but it would be entertaining..
Every once in awhile, people will comment on the original ESC70 videos (about a year before this one) just to tell me that their ESC "works just fine." Still not anywhere near being better than a 1080, and never will be.
These must be hit and miss I’m with you sir! Buy 1080 this I have been trying this esc every other month now for almost year! It makes mt d90 tritch and Ah not worth it 😂
I have a esc90 on my workbench right now and I’m about to smash it with a hammer. Your experience echoes mine. Incredibly unintuitive piece of kit! Can I charge ISDT for the time I wasted on this thing? I will NEVER buy one of their products EVER again.
I had a fair number of people ask me if I was going to test the ESC90 after my absolute disaster of a time testing the ESC70-- and I was like... why would you think it would be any different? It's the same ESC with more power output. I think I said it in the first episode I suffered through with the ESC70: iSDT should stick to making chargers.
@@CrawlerCanyon I somehow managed to get mine working. However, I can’t update the firmware and some of the changes on the app will fail to upload (with an error on screen.) It works (kinda) right now, but I simply do not trust it. Can’t imagine running a fast machine on this thing and losing control etc. Regardless, thank you for the video!
😂 hi! It’s me again! First off I respect that you took the time to try again. I will tell you that my hardware is 2.0.0.1 and I definitely don’t own the monster of an ESC you have. Admittedly there are times that the ESC times out when sending parameters but mine always takes what I’m giving it. The app isn’t perfect and once in awhile requires a little patience to resend. A few things I saw in your video. I like that you ran the 1080 for comparison. One of the huge things for me was seeing that after you stopped on an incline and gave it the littlest bit of throttle, your rig seemed to coast and pick up speed. The ESC70 will maintain your input on an incline. I’ve never tried running the ESC without the button and it seemed to make things cumbersome for you in the beginning of the video. I agree there should be an update firmware within the app (I looked for one In mine while watching and didn’t see one) maybe the difference in hardware also comes with a different firmware? Who knows. I talked the most about this in your previous video and I’ll stand on what I said. Again, thank you for showing us what you’ve dealt with. No, I wouldn’t buy one with that experience. I do feel that ISDT sent something out that was way ahead of it’s time.. probably to their detriment in cases like yours. I’ll stand on my word and I’ll send you one that’s current. Let me know how we can get that arranged.
I think we basically have different speed controls, and therefore completely different experiences. So far as I can tell, mine updated to the most current firmware (though the most recent post from ISDT talked about 1.0.0.10 and that was in December of 2021, before the thing was even available, so I have no genuine idea. They haven't made an FB post mentioning ESCs since February of 2020, so I wouldn't even know where to find what is supposed to be the current software version. The ISD GO app sits on 2 stars in the App Store, and I thought that those complaints would be about the ESC70, but they aren't-- the app is just bad, and I'm over here trying to use a bad app with a bad ESC. There's apparently an ESC90 out now, and literally NO ONE is talking about it. No videos, no reviews, not even press releases from ISDT. They're busy making MagSafe chargers now, and have seemingly all but abandoned ESCs. If you wanna send me one, I'll go down the rabbit one yet again, as I am a glutton for punishment. Send an email to crawlercanyon at gmail dot com and we'll work it out.
In fairness, @donaldsneffe had the same bad time with the ESC70, and was every bit as forthcoming about it as I was. But I feel like he and I were (and are) in a vocal minority.
Isdt esc is hot garbage. They need to stick to making battery chargers. Your pain is comic relief though, hahaha. 🤙🏽 Edit: If these people from the comments say its soo good, sounds like a crawler canyon giveaway! Be gone pos esc.
Couldn’t agree more, mine has sat in the parts bin just because I’d feel bad about throwing 50$ in the garbage, what a waste. The app is garbage doesn’t sync.
I have told you a few times that my ESC70 has been fine., but I do not think you should torture yourself over it, nor is it better than the 1080 even when it works. As good...hmmm...maybe. Now I say that and I'm thinking about my experience with the Castle Bluetooth on a mamba monster x. 1/2 the time it works, rest it resets random settings. GRRRRRRRR. You don't trail, and on the trails pulling up an app is way better than pulling out the tool bag, removing body, and adjusting with card. Then the group of 12 is waiting for you and then nobody is happy. If I had your exp with it, I'd have tossed the $26 headache and moved on. I've only noticed the firmware update once or twice, and it happened on app start. I'm on a non-super-ancient-Android phone though. Which is another question I have for you. For someone who likes to tinker with everything, why Apple?
As a person that doesn't trail, exactly what settings are people messing with out on the trail? I make changes during setup and initial testing, then generally never touch them again. The biggest change I might make at any point is turning punch down or drag brake up, and only after changing a motor. I absolutely LOATHE futzing with computers or anything related to computers. I've built a couple of gaming PCs for my kids, which was easier than I thought it would be, but I wouldn't say it was a particularly fun-filled experience. I've been an Apple guy since I got my Apple IIgs in my freshman year of High School. A Performa 638 a few years later, and nothing but Macs between then and the M1 Max Studio I'm working on right now. I literally only own that chintzy Windoze laptop for programming ESCs and radios. I hate it. Windows is still non-intuitive, software updates are nightmarish trips to a hellscape, etc. I don't participate in the phone thing. I don't give a damn what phone someone else uses (this is reference to the insane Android vs. iOS people) and prefer if they don't tell me about it. Apple makes killer camera software paired to a decent lens setup, so I take the lazy route rather than the more expensive one that would produce better/more tunable images. I don't have to deal with removable media, I just AirDrop all files from the phone directly into FCPX and start editing. It's as quick and easy as I am lazy.
@@CrawlerCanyon we have a few hundred members of our local group, and quite a few are new and need help adjusting. Sometimes people don't test and tune (if you can believe that) so drag brake, drag brake rate. And you'd be surprised how many don't flip motor direction in ESC, and do it via transmitter and wonder why they dont' get full speed FWD.
Isdt 70 esc absolute garbage. I have bought 4 and throwing them all in the bin. I have latest i have updated and everything and total garbage. Hobbywing 1080 all the way. Maybe doesn't have loads of settings or Bluetooth but absolutely just keeps working exactly as it says on the box. I would rather pay extra for Hobbywing 1080 and be able to enjoy every crawl without any problems. Isdt esc70 just keeps loosing memory, doesn't set, runs away, glitches and just makes me want to hit it with a hammer. PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON ISDT ESC70 GARBAGE.

Please make a monthly series on this esc it really made me chuckle 😂
(Yes I'm one of those annoying people who have two and they just seemed to work okay, super smooth low end and modulation, good luck !)
22:12 ?
@@rccrawlingaddict207 yup still haven't worked out how to do timestamps
@@thindigital It's got to be a colon in between.
I bought one of these when they first came out and it's still new in a sealed box lol. I never even tried messing with it. I bought it simply because it was new and had Bluetooth but never could justify not using the many 1080s I have. So, in box it stays 😂
"You cant polish a turd" well said!
And friends don't let friends by esc 70's
I'm routing for this to work for you! (This time)
maybe try the boom hustlers one more time. its very entertaining.lol
🤨🤨😟😕🙁 😫
@@CrawlerCanyon lol. I'll take a Hobbywing fusion and 1080 all day long. Even my Spektrum 2n1 was easy.
Just curious. maybe do a video on the hustlers one more time. But this time shave them down about 30%. I'd be curious to see if a shorter knobby would help. I know it going to be painful, but it would be entertaining..
I’ve bought 3 in the last 2
Months and each work perfectly….. not a single issue with any of them……I do like them better than the 1080’s!
I think there’s a massive difference from what was First released vs currently. I’m dead willing to send a new release!
Mine was absolute garbage. It went back to Amazon. Wouldn't connect to the app, junk.
Sorry you had to suffer through this. I'd rather punch myself in the Nutz several times than to deal with that😳.
I know this is a older video isdt70 is a terd with icing on top
Every once in awhile, people will comment on the original ESC70 videos (about a year before this one) just to tell me that their ESC "works just fine." Still not anywhere near being better than a 1080, and never will be.
I feel the very same 1080 p is held to a higher standard in my book
This is the only channel I could find that tells the truth about this POS ESC
In fairness, @donaldsneffe had the same bad time with the ESC70, and was every bit as forthcoming about it as I was. But I feel like he and I were (and are) in a vocal minority.
Yeah that ESC looks to be turd as far as adjusting it goes. 😂
