  • In July 2016, after an argument with her boyfriend, Kaylee Sawyer left her apartment complex and walked out into the night. Before long, her phone had turned off. When she didn't show up to her job the next day, alarm bells really started ringing, and the awful truth about what had happened to her, would soon come to light.

And park your car so the drivers side is facing cameras as close as you can get to them, - i've seen too many car park kidnaps where the investigators can't see what happened or who the perp is because the footage is too grainy or too far away or whatever happened was blocked by the car.

You can't live your life, afraid, like that.
Sure, abductions happen in public places; but the best advice that can be given to anyone, is DO NOT get in the car with anyone who attempts to abduct you.
If someone approaches you, with a gun or a knife, in a public place, and demands you come with them, or get into their car ... don't go.
Call their bluff!! Tell them, "Sorry, but I'm not getting into the car with you. If you're going to kill me, then you're going to have to kill me here."
Because, if you get into their car, and ride away with them, you know damned well that you're not going to survive. So, force their hand, and make them have to kill you where someone might see them do it. If you're a woman, and the abductor is a male, then he's obviously attempting an abduction because he wants to rape you. Force him to act without getting what he's really after.

If you watch a few more videos or read a little more on Edwin Lara himself you get the picture that he'd actually had fantasies of abducting and killing women for a long time. Men like him don't just snap one day and decide to kill. They think about it for years - sometimes decades. He just found that one opportunity with poor Kaylee Sawyer (and later with Aundrea Maes) and decided that he was finally going to act on his urges. He really was a potential serial killer hiding in plain sight. Having a wife, family and good job would have meant nothing to him as soon as he had a chance to fulfill that urge which was what mattered more than anything to him. I was more surprised that he didn't kill Aundrea Maes but in Lara's mind she acted like a human shield for police not to shoot when they arrested him. Unfortunately, Lara is not in a minority.

LOL I was just about to post my comment about my cat sitting and watching this video with me (which he never does bc he always has the zoomies in the morning) when I saw your comment. It must be a cat thing! No snow here (just rain... Seattle, you know!) and no coffee, but a cat and TC still really makes the a.m.!

this story got crazier and crazier, wow. I feel so bad for the girl who lost her life. I'm so glad the other was not hurt, she was smart to say what she did. I'll never forget when I was like 5 years old I was riding my bike and grabbed the mail before heading inside because it was getting dark out. I noticed our mail was mixed up with our neighbors (he was a single male, he would always wink at me whenever I saw him), and I decided to bring his mail to him. I remember him opening the door snd inviting me inside, and as soon as I stepped inside he shut and locked the door behind me. I was just a baby but I can still remember the fear that ran through me at that moment. he asked if my parents knew I had come over, and I somehow knew enough to lie and say that my mom was the one who told me to bring it over and we were just about to have dinner, that she was waiting for me. he questioned me on this, and tried asking if I'd rather have dinner at his house, but I said no and repeated my mom was waiting for me. I just remember staring at that doorknob as he unlocked it and turned it slowly and I RAN home. it's crazy what comes to mind in the moment, when your body recognizes the danger you're in. I feel so lucky because idk what wouldve happened had I thrown a tantrum or hadn't lied to him like I did. this was back in the 90s.

Wow that is scary! It’s like the Lovely Bones! I had someone ask me if I wanted a ride one time and I said no, then they followed me home and turned into every drive on the way. I finally walked into a little grocery mart & waited until I couldn’t see him anymore. I understand that fear you’re describing

Best true crime channel by a country mile. Plenty of other channels get credit for acknowledging the victim when they actually do a bare minimum. This channel comes across as more genuine than any other and the storytelling is excellent 👍🏼
