The concept of Fire Keepers goes back to Kings Field II (Kings Field in the US) with Meryl. She too is a mysterious woman figure. Though she is not meant for leveling up and such, she does provide the player with valuable information concerning items within your inventory. Of course, she give the description in your typical, vague FromSoftware way, but at least it's there.
To be fair, Fire Keepers/Maidens don't have that much competition for notoriety: by the end of your average Soulsborne game, everyone else is usually insane or dead. Often by your hand. Except Melina who you could easily forget about given how rarely she decides to show herself.
I always thought the Firekeeper archetype from Sekiro was Emma. She is the one who levels up your healing item, and you interact with her much more than you do the Divine Child of the Rejuvenating Waters. And, like Melina after her, if you try to go down the bad ending, she's not afraid to "correct" you.
The firekeepers add so much to the indescribably beautiful atmosphere of these games. Speaking of which, where did you find that thumbnail art? It's so damn beautiful.
In the story of berserk, I see shierke as a parallel to the fire keepers, she acts as a guide and protector of guts through all of his struggles, she aids him, and even gives him the power he needs to trancend his limits and hold back his own corruption. I think this is a cool idea. Anybody who reads this, I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on this. I know in the souls games she has characters inspired by her, but not fully acting in the same roles.
I was surprised you picked the divine child as sekiros fire keeper parallel It is a good point but I think Emma is more of a Parallel a orphan of war who helps you along your journey And aids you from the start Emma also is a bit like Melina in the sense she’s connected to the final boss in a way and also is willing to fight you and actually does if you choose Shura. Similar to how Melina vows to kill you if she’s alive for the frenzied flame
This was a great analysis of our favorite level up ladies. But a part of me feels bad that Sophia from Lies of P did not get a mention. I know the game wasn’t made by fromsoft, but has plenty of inspirations from it and Sophia and her role in the game is quite interesting.

Firekeepers are vigilant guardians of the eternal flame. They ensure it remains lit 🤣
I don't understand, what is funny about that?
@@willkeas39 The word "lit" lol
