On March 26, 1991, five young boys left their respective homes to head out on search for frogs (salamander eggs by other accounts) on Mount Waryong in the outskirts of Daegu, South Korea. However, these young friends would never return home. Their mysterious disappearance would spark a case that made national headlines and still remains unsolved to this day. What actually happened to those five boys on Mount Waryong...?

Sorry I’ve been slow to respond to comments lately, things have been so busy, but just know that I read and appreciate them all! I have my peepers on you! 👀 Big announcement coming next week, so please turn on your notifications and stay tuned! Thank you all so much for your continued support 🙏🏼💛
Hey Aria, sent you a DM on Instagram.
북한 스파이가 범인이다.
also the police did not handke this case well at all, they at first dismissed the case and said it was just a runaway case, they also didn't handle the crime scene correctly and basically dumped the bones together in piles
Yes, they didn’t even try to organize the bones as bodies like is typically done to help identify them correctly. As you said, they just put them as piles (long bones together, short bones together, etc.)
wtf how could they be so incompetent! and a big national case too!
@@cocolime6496 it was said that the police just wanted to get it "solved " as quick as possible to keep up their reputation
@@backroomsguideno.87 lol what reputation? it's shot to hell now! 😂
Personally, it more like the cops had been told to NOT handle this properly by someone higher up.
If they did know how to get around the mountain, there would be no reason for them to stay when it got cold. They could have just went home. I think there's definitely some shady business in this case. May the boys rest in peace.
I think that their bodies were probably put there after the whole search, that is what makes the most sense to me because it doesn't make sense that they could have made such an extensive search of that entire area and had not found them. Also the way they were placed, from what your describing, sounds pretty suspicious
Hey so in the report made the Head CSI noted that the bodies were so perfectly put together that it wouldn’t have made sense or wouldn’t have been possible for someone to put the there and for the bodies to be put so perfectly together
Although that’s still a possibility
obviously it is one of the uncle
Aria, yes an ID is required, however it is seldom, if ever, done at the scene. Typically it is at the morgue. And while the body can still be bad to look at, it's nowhere as traumatic as these poor people went through!!
I'm in daegu now. I think the boys were really collecting bullets from the barrier at the base because it is a holiday.. but really higher ups can still do shooting even on the holiday. So I think one is accidentally shot leading to cover up.
Oh My Goddess. I have never heard of this story. How tragic for the families involved. Glad they got rid of the statute of limitations for murder. I feel the clues of the investigation lead towards someone important or the police or the military and it was covered up by those in charge.
It's in Netflix. If you are curious about it you can watch more of the story there. Though I think Aria tackled details that weren't mentioned in the documentary itself, but there are also some things that he wasn't able to include here.

This case along with Little Gregory, McDonald Boys and Tan Children and so so many more are absolutely heartbreaking. Because these are kids, innocent little kids that couldn't possibly have done ANYTHING to make someone so angry or so vengeful to want to kill them. I mean murder and disappearences are tragic in EVERY case and NO ONE deserves it, but like with adults and such at least you can somewhat speculate and understand, in a way the motive? Because it's money and jelousy and maybe people cheating ect. Again, no one deserves to die and there is no excuse but there is an EXPLONATION that you can wrap your mind around...that someone is just greedy or jelous or gets angry. But kids? It's always hard to wrap your mind around the "why".
hate. that's what it boils down to, basically. and usually perpetrators who do something like this are driven by a compulsion that causes them to enjoy inflicting this kind of suffering, and gives them a sense of power. and i know it's complex and this isn't very scientific of me to say, but personally I call that hate. I truly believe that "people" who do this are evil incarnate
@@cocolime6496 I'm more inclined to believe that whoever was responsible here killed them because of convenience -- for example if someone at the shooting range injured or killed one or two of the boys and then felt they had to kill the others to cover it up. Being young and probably encouraged to respect their elders, even more so if the perpetrators were military, these kids may have just obeyed them if told to line up together or get on the ground etc.
The fact that there is a 15 year statute of limitations is bs. But I also believe there was more than one person involved in this crime because I don't think it would have been possible for one person to kill 5 teenagers without at least one of them escaping.
I've seen the documentary about the frog boys. I hope that they'll get justice, poor kids and their families.
Hey where did you watch that documentary?
@@ivethdiaz315 Netflix
IDK what kind of frogs or salamanders S. Korea has, but where I come from, it has to be at least 46° F warmer than freezing in order to find any reptiles.
I don’t think they were at that mountain the whole time. I think their remains were dumped back there after some time based on how the evidence was found and when. That area was searched about 500 times by so many people. They would’ve caught that if the boys were there in the beginning or buried there soon after. Just my opinion.
Additionally, the police in this country are rather…unmotivated…for most things, no matter the severity. So them botching this isn’t surprising.
i agree it's very likely, but I'm a bit torn on the scenario...
i follow a lot of true crime and there have been cases where the crime scene is a forest that is so vast and dense that it's possible to miss something even when it's combed over carefully several times over. of course i don't know anything about this area so maybe that wasn't the case.
and then there's the police incompetence to consider. it could be that they did such a shoddy job that they failed these children and basically left them to die of exposure 😒
As someone who knows Korean and worked in Korea for a bit, I just want to say that I appreciate how well you actually pronounce these names and places. I actually just watched another youtube video on this same case a day before you posted this and the narrator didn't even attempt correct pronunciation. You always handle cases from outside the US with such respect 👍
Thank you for shining light on another case, Aria. Would you consider maybe covering the West Memphis Three please? It's technically a closed case, but there's a lot of doubt surrounding the result and it's similar to this case of the Frog Boys
Wait what? That's the end? In most cases locals close to the families always have some leading theory on who did it with just not enough proof... did I miss it or does this case really not have that??? How could there be no real leads 😰
It's truly terrifying and heart wrenching to think someone could just do this with no one knowing and live their lives like nothing happened... 💔 😔 😢
i agree there should be no statute of limitations on murder, but i do see one possible good reason for having one: once it's expired the murderer can relax and maybe even be more open about what they did, knowing they wouldn't go to jail. *however* that's not to say they can't be arrested for something else related to the murder, or another crime they've committed since then. then it's about using the system to your advantage as a judge and give them maximum sentence for something else. maybe allow some social justice to occur.... *or* maybe they can place no limit on filing a civil suit?
Genuinely such a sad case, as you said, others that have been covered can be infuriating or sickening but something about this one is just deeply saddening
crazy you posted this around the time new evidence popped up, it's back in the news
basically someone figured out the weapon used could be caliper. a post on internet forum pann went viral but now it's deleted and gone, but press already started reporting on it
I'm guessing that whom ever did this had some form of authority in order to "immobilize" verbally the kids. I mean when i was a kid especially when doing kids stuff as part of a gang we would run fast and as far as we could each time some adult would come up on us for whatever reason. But a uniformed person could have another affect on the kids..
this will only make sense to people who are fans of always sunny in Philadelphia… but when I first saw the title of this my mind automatically went to Frank ‘trying to find the frog kid’
I know it has no relation to this case but all I’m saying is this isn’t the first time I’ve heard bout someone tryna find frog boys
With that said, sad story ): RIP salamander boys
I feel like all the cold cases around that time, they were taken to the “Brothers Welfare”, which was 1 of probably several, S. Korea’s version of concentration camps, hidden w/in mountains, along countryside’s etc.🤔🤯
Wow I think so too....
Holy crap. Never heard of this until now. How terrible. :(
Thank you for keeping them on this channel!! I work dumb hours and can't catch the live streams. Love your content!! 😁
I think of of the leading reasons why the nearby military base was involved in the disappearance was it was not investigated immediately or at least enough at the height of the frog boys' investigation. The military base merely denied that they were having any shooting exercises at that day and weren't prodded further. I've watched a couple of documentaries relating to the frog boys. People found it weird that they would get lost to a very familiar place and their bodies would later be found on the base of the mountains after people plowed through that mountain for years during the height of the investigation.
Authorities sometimes have family ID a body by a photograph rather than taking them to the actual body. Or if they are too decomposed, they can try to identify them by dental records.
Just followed you on Twitch I had no idea you were on there till now. I'll be following my great friend ! 💜
Yes!! Thank you, Aria! You made my day 😍 love seeing these videos on your channel here 🤩
I love this style of video and you're content!
Was waiting so very eagerly for this one! 🔥❤️
hello sir!!!!! missed these videos, haven’t seen them in a while since i started working 🤣
What if they were huddled together in fear?
Just commenting to tell you we have the same name! Never met another one
Love these videos! So raw and real reactions! Keep them please!!! It's different from other UA-camrs and I don't use Twitch cos I'm too old to learn new tricks lol.
Aria, if possible, can you make these vids longer? 15-20 minutes seem wayyy too less. Thanks!
I seen gray tv cover this case! I have a strong feeling that the military had something to do with it..this case is very sad, those poor boys :( 😓
it's possible they accidentally hurt or killed the children but didn't want to accept blame so they covered it up
Peace and blessings to youuuu ☮️👏🏾
this is so sad . I was hoping they would trace the call hoping it would be the killer :/
So 300000 police officers were searching, plus some volunteers, and they searched for 350000 man days? That sounds like they all searched for a day and then gave up.
The police couldn't have been that insensitive or that dumb. 1) They could've spared the parents (some grief) by asking them to provide DNA samples and to identify the clothing ONLY! 2) 10:30 Their only explanations for these children's death were, either they froze to death...IN MARCH! Or, an unknown assailant without a motive but is suffering from a psychosis 🤨Who are they covering for?!
i want to know why did this happen and who did this...there are so many unsolved cases around the world and it's so depressing
Happy Pride Month! Also, it’s my birthday so I’m happy to see a video from one of my favourite Content Creators. (ALSO, LIVING FOR THE EARRING)
Frankly I love watching the stream than the edited video
안녕하세요! Thank you for covering a case from Korea. Purple you! 💜
I'm so mesmerized by your gold earrings ✨️ I didn't hear anything you said in the first 2 minutes 🤣
Love you aria 😍😍😍
LOTS OF LOVE TO YOU TOO LIZ!!! 💛💛💛
GOD knows who did it and they will not escape HIM. So heart breaking for those families. How horrible for the boys and the fear they must have felt.
What bodies? They found remains. Forensic experts could have done that with technology.
Bro what happened with your mma fight?
Just curious because of your last name and if you don't mind me asking... what is your nationality? THANKS! Love to hear you answer my not so important but very personal question. God bless!
I think he has family from the Phillipines
My conspiracy theory is that the boy that returned early is the killer.
Can you talk about winnifred teo suan lie case🙏🕊
UA-cam Keanu wassup?
Yeah, police or army cover up. I'm leaning more towards army. But I'm glad their bodies were able to be put to rest
Yes that's a good point, I'm glad their bodies were at least found for a degree of closure.
There are documents on you tube.
Ariaaaa
Another awful story 😢
Aria can we see you fight again?
💙
