    I am a naturally suspicious person who goes out of my way to stay informed. I had a scammer try to con me with a tax bill. All I had to do was ask which office of the IRS they were calling from and to give me their number so I could call them back, and they hung up on me, never to be heard from again. Sometimes a little bit of knowledge and composure can help you avoid a lot of trouble.

      I did near enough the exact same thing, but I was 13 at the time and I only questioned it because earlier that day we had a police officer come into my school to give a talk about phone scammers. I am so relieved I actually listened to the lecture that day and took note. Scary to think how gullible I was back then and a day sooner, I probably would've given away so many personal details and such.

    Pls do a video on all types of scams, not just internet scams. Like pyramid schemes and hotel booking scams, Aria. One time a hotel called me and told me I won a free stay in their resort hotel, any branch! All I got to do is go there and watch the presentation. Im a very pessimistic person and I immediately knew this was a scam. They kept calling and calling me for 3 weeks non stop and I kept trolling them. They got frustrated. "Don't you want the free stay? When are you gonna come?"

    Aria I work in banking and I see the other side of phone scams, it’s impact on people, genuinely can ruin lives not just financially but mentally, so many times I’ve cried myself at the impact of this after the customer has left - all ages affected, all genders, so horrible. Thankyou for sharing I learnt something!

    Wow ... To randomly have $46k laying around to pay off at a moments notice and lose it all like that .. super sad. These scammers are working harder than usual these days. Thanks for the video!

    I was scammed (although I stopped it in time) and yes, I should’ve known better because I follow this and also just generally but scammers know jargon (just as the Ex-Scammer) that are mentioned to avert suspicion.

    I really enjoyed this video! Good on him for speaking out and he’s 100% right, you can buy off pretty much anyone in those countries which is so scary to think about. Even if scams will never be under control, I hope more people become more aware and educated on the situation. Hope your enjoying your travels, Aria. As always, much love.

    8:22 I was shocked to know that Kolkata/Calcutta, a city that I love is a hub of scamming. It is indeed sad news that this is a step short of a legitimate industry.
    P.S. I think it’s prevalent because of corruption, faulty laws and quick money.

    I fell for a scam… I was only a few hundreds into it before I caught on but some of these scammers are so good and make it so believable that you have no problem handing over money, if money you need for something else. Mine was for what I thought was a work from home job. They asked for money up front for equipment and shipping so I paid. They said they need money up front for software so I paid. But they kept asking for more and more before I was like… the reason I’m doing this is cuz I need money, need another job. Why are they continuously asking for money? So I caught on but took longer than I ever thought I’d get into something like that.

    think your being a bit disingenuous as i doubt having any vpn will stop scum bags contacting on phone or computer.

    • @Aria.Inthavong
      @Aria.Inthavong  2 роки тому

      It won't stop scum bags contacting you via the phone or computer but a VPN does make a difference when they CONNECT to your computer via remote viewing software like TeamViewer (which a lot of scammers do). I remember when I first started scambaiting, experienced scambaiters would tell me to use a VPN.

    These phone scammers are as difficult to get rid of as cockroaches. I use an app to block them, so far so good.
    What's really peeving me now, is I keep having to replace my debit card (including this week) because of hackers getting into my account. I don't give out my info, I'm extremely cautious with how I use my financials, yet still I get hacked. Keep up the awesome work, Aria!
