      I love your videos but someone needs to say it, Ed Gein wasn't a serial killer. He would have had to plan out and follow through on killing 3 or more people.
      The thing with his brother was never proven to actually be 1) intentional 2) Ed's intent. The next was Bernice Worden that the psychiatrist basically said was an accident that turned into opportunity. The only murder he some what planned was Mary Hogan's.... idk why 1 small wrong sentence needed a book summary but I couldn't continue the video without saying it 🤦

      @@paige8916 omg your desperation to make this at best spurious point is embarasding , Ed Gein is widely spoken of as a SK for numerous reasons including FACT u assume the ONLY definition of a serial killer is that of the FBI, (its NOT) & fact is that even FBI is looking at changing this definition. There is also as with most of these guys, differing opinions & ability to prove all of Ed Geins crimes, so if we KNOW Someone committed 30 murders but can only prove or only bother to prove 1 in court that person suddenly not a SK, or offender caught sentenced to life without parole after first obviously ritualistic sadistic sexual murder so can't go on to re offend then they display SK behaviour but can't b a SK under your strict unbending definition u r so very desperate to apply on everyone's behalf. We r ALL entitled to our opinions, beliefs & sources guides to how we sort information. Your desperation to show your knowledge by disrespecting someone else's has only displayed your own ignorance.

    Let me give you some pretty disturbing insight on one of the reasons I think cops won't listen to sex workers (or in my case, a former sex worker and at the time willingly did it,I quit a few years ago but the incident I'm gonna tell you about happened the year before last,and obviously this event wasn't in any way shape or form consensual) I'm a bit hesitant to comment this with it being pretty recent that this happened, also since I'll be exposing law enforcement which is always scary to do. Plus of course I'm afraid people either won't believe me or harass me. But the year before last I was abducted in broad daylight by 3 men and sold into sex trafficking. It was a month of torture and tons of abuse that made it feel like a year,before I finally took the risk and escaped.Well more than once a cop would come knocking on the door of the room I was chained (yes literally chained) up in, and at first I thought "finally! I'm saved!" Only to see one of my captors get out a wad of cash and hand it to the cop, and after that they'd leave. And we would always make eye contact so they knew damn well I wasn't there willingly. Im mentioning this because I believe that it's not just the stigma that keeps cops from listening to sex workers, but also because you'd be shocked to know how many of them are actively involved in that world. Of both consenting sex workers, and hostages being forced into being sold and assaulted. It runs so much deeper than most people could understand. I couldn't report it because I'd be reporting it directly to the ones who take payouts to look the other way, while some either participate, or do both. It's so sickening.

      @@Aria.Inthavong thank you so much for listening! I genuinely do appreciate it! I talk with a therapist about this, but not much with anyone else because I'm trying to move on and live normally but sometimes after the rare occasions outside of therapy I talk about this, I actually feel a little better. Since of course they wanted to make sure they owned me mentally and physically, and wanted to be sure id be too scared to ever speak a word to anyone, I feel the chains (sadly literally and metaphorically) getting looser and looser, and gradually falling off with time and talking about it more and more :) again thank you so much for taking time out of your day to listen to my story! You always talk about these cases with upmost respect and I admire your effortless respectful manner! And I've been recovering slowly but surely! Like I said I see a therapist, but I'm also taking self defense classes as well! They're helpful so I can possibly protect myself from this ever happening again but also helpful because its helped empower me and not feel so small and useless like I previously did as a result of what had happened. But even before this I have to remember I did something that not many sadly can say: I survived and I escaped. I gotta give myself credit sometimes and remind myself that alone makes me strong no matter what. I do feel myself having survivors guilt though. But I feel like any woman who's experienced this is always glad in some way if anyone escapes, and I hope one day the world won't have to worry about this awful part of our world.

    this can honestly be solved through circumstancial evidence/s. if the bodies were found, assuming that the bodies were submitted to autopsy. it should be reviewed on how the death was being done like certain wounds or openings (since serial killers in general can have a preferred type of killing or execution). since the case is in the loophole due to the fact that some victims are still in questioned so i guess, examining the modus operandi (like i said earlier) is the key to know because the location nicknaming isn't entirely enough to cover the whole agenda. it can save a lot of time narrowing down and if ever there are locked up ones that have the same type of killing. maybe it can be plausible for them to be questioned if it were possible to track those of their style of executing.
    in hindsight, DNA testing can and should be done on the victims and their location of where they were found should be searched again since it will play a big role in determining and matching up to potential killer/s or interogate the last people who were the victims in contact with since they are the only ones who can answer the questions before the death of those victims. it is a heavy case since there are no leads which can potential be put through the cold case files but i hope the justice will not prevail and let them rest in peace truly.
    and also, since corruption in the police force is really prevalent. it is too bad that these people are being subjected to such atrocity. and the underlying misogynistic approach towards these women are a stench. so im also with the thought of this is a cover up.

      Nopey! Great to see you on UA-cam! Thanks for watching and for this detailed breakdown. We certainly have the technology now to be able to do extensive DNA tests. Outside of any potential cover-up, perhaps the bodies were too badly decomposed due to the elements they were exposed to? Not to mention that there was a body from the 90s. Or perhaps you and others are right in that the police know a lot more and are just covering it up!

    As someone from Long Island thank you for bringing light to this case. I’ve been obsessed with this case since it happened and it just doesn’t make sense that no one has been arrested yet. Many believe the killer was or is on the police force and are being covered up by the force. It’s just insane that so little information has been found about this case that would help with it. There are still new things coming out to this day but nothing that can solidify who the killer is
    Edit: It’s ON Long Island not IN Long Island

    I'm inclined to believe that the killer could be a police officer / security guard that has access to a business where burlap sacks were used. Also, if he was in uniform at the time of Shannon's bipolar episode, that could explain why he could've been able to get Shannon to go with him without causing a scene.

    The one victim could have been just related to getting lost during a manic episode - her suddenly running away from the guy who drove her there suggests something was going on and people don't realize how deadly mental illness can be. Like the Elisa Lam case where she was had a history of bipolar depression that included auditory and visual hallucinations during manic episodes and had a history of hiding strange places and people tried to make it into a ghost story. There was an unsolved mysteries episode in the second season where it was a very obvious suicide identified as a suicide by the police and they took advantage of family members clearly in denial who spouted off every cliche about suicide. Just sad

Them being a former law enforcement worker, and possibly learning extensively of their viticms, they would probably also know which law enforcement officials have partaken in affairs and drug usage, hence the coverup, inside knowledge, and motive.

    Shannon Gilbert dying from a psychotic episode is much more believable. She was freaking out, ran from her driver, she called the police, so did neighbors, so did Joseph Brewer. She also would have had to be randomly caught by the serial killer after running from Joseph and her Driver. That is a very low chance. Then 2 SEPARATE CORONERS said she was probably not murdered. Her running out to the beach, falling, getting lost, hiding, drowning, etc is much more possible. Unless Joseph Brewer is the killer, which I imagine was investigated, then she just died.
    We shouldn’t put fear of offending people over Justice. Finding the truth is always more important. If it “stigmatizes” mental disorders, then oh well, but go find the truth. Especially when it’s almost a dozen murders…

She was waiting there the man said the moment he mentioned he called the cops she freaked out and bust out the door running. Odd because she was on the phone with 911. Phone call never released and the force there was unwilling to work with fbi.

No matter how many times it happens, no protocols are put in place to ensure it doesn’t happen again and it’s these issues that cause institutionalised racism, victim discrimination, criminalisation etc. etc. etc. to not only continue on but worsen with time. • @sarahfreeman5703
      @sarahfreeman5703 2 роки тому

      Mainly the reason I say that Long Island can be dangerous is because it’s a very open natural area and if you really need help or assistance and because the service here is kind of trash it’s very difficult for people to find each other in time. And to get police to come to certain places it’s very difficult for them to find one another.

    Serial killers who use prostitutes as victim pools or to 'practice' is the main reason I believe the profession should be regulated/legalized, they should all be given buildings to do their business in etc. Get them off the streets and less friction between them and the police and keep them in a clean and safer environment. There will still be those on the outs but I still hope that most of it will clean up. If there's battery or anything the prostitute did not agree to they should have an option available to them etc.

    I grew up on long island not far from gilgo beach and so this case has always been on my radar. This video left out a lot of important information that further implicates the Suffolk county police department (most of which involves former police chief james burke). It was clear from the beginning that they not only had no real interest in solving this case, but they went out of their way to obstruct justice. They're notoriously corrupt and the general consensus is that although the lisk acted alone, he was most likely in law enforcement or had close ties to it. I doubt this case will ever be solved but at least the lisk is most likely too old to successfully commit new murders now.

    Multiple serial killers, I believe. Why the spread and differences in method. Shannon Gilbert had heightened instincts and likely felt in danger and her subsequent behavior is a result of underlying mental illness. Trauma, fear or panic can easily trigger an psychotic break.

    • @Aria.Inthavong
      @Aria.Inthavong  2 роки тому +1

      I agree that, horrifyingly, there's definitely a very strong possibility of multiple killers. How terrifying to think that there could be multiple killers using the SAME beaches to bury their bodies. Thanks for watching, Michael!

    • @fuku1331
      @fuku1331 2 роки тому +1

      There's no way that there were multiple serial killers with the same signature operating independently at the same time in the same area. Its completely normal for killers to change their mo as time progresses, its their signature that must always stay the same. Also, insinuating that shannon had a spontaneous psychotic break because of mental illness is straight up ignorant. Vaguely pointing to "mental illness" as a way to justify your own unfounded theories not only further stigmatizes the entire spectrum of mental illness, but it's an insult to shannons memory.

      @Aria.Inthavong  2 роки тому

      Completely understand that, Fernando. People have different tastes. For myself and others, I think having little bits of humor helps bring some levity to some really upsetting stories. That's why lots of popular true crime podcasts like Last Podcast On the Left or My Favorite Murder lean into humor and banter to break up all the horrifying information being told. But I also understand people like you who just want a straightforward case and to sink into a more serious mood/tone. For me it depends on the case, as certain cases I avoid humor in at all, but unfortunately I don't think I'll ever be one of the more "100% serious all the time" true crime hosts.
