I love these glimpses into your life. You remind me a lot of my brother. He's also a tall AF cyclist, cinimatographer, documentarian and news videographer here in the colonies. I don't spend nearly enough time with him (we're both old, career driven and live 3 hours apart). You really do good work, as much as that means coming from some interwebs rando.
Your film work is so inspiring to me the tone and depth that the films have is incredible and I love how passionate you are about your cameras and film! As someone studying cinematography and looking to get into the industry these sort of videos really compel my creative spirit! I'm currently working with a fujifilm x s10 which I think works great with the lenses I have and the in built stabilisation works wonders!
I recently changed my major to film production and it’s fun that I now understand what you mean with all the technical bits and whatnots. As of current, the cameras I use alter between my iPhone 11 and the Canon XA50.
The OG Pocket Cinema cam has SUCH a nice vibe to it, it really creates that homey, wholesome feeling. Using it at parties and with groups of friends warms the heart for sure. :)
That’s exactly what I’m looking for. I’m trying to get that vintage sort of look. Is that what I can achieve with the OG bmpcc or can I also get it with the 6k? And someone mentioned that get a Helius lens but does it really matter what lens you use if you have the OG pocket camera and you’re trying to go for that vintage look?
You mentioned being more interested in light and composition and it definitely shows it's something you're passionate about from everything you shoot! It really makes me want to watch your videos even if sometimes it's not a topic I'm necessarily interested in and they're always so inspiring to me as an artist! As for what camera I use, it's just the camera on my galaxy s7 as it's enough for my photography needs. I take a lot of pictures of nature, mostly my plants, and I love the way those turn out!
Fuji x100v is the coolest vintage looking camera i have ever tried. it gets that old looking feeling too it. pictures is sharp and cool. and the pocket cine is what i call the memories camera. that brings tears to everyone or laughter if u show your kid or family after a decade what u have recorded. and camera can hit so diffrent what u are after. i like the high quality and the vintages feel. somthing feels better on older camera or newer that is what is amazing if u like to take pictures. i am not taking editing on it because you can make a new high end camera to look old trough editing. i just like the good old stock photo
I use a Canon 90D for photography and video! it is the first camera I ever purchased. I look forward to the day where I can afford more cameras and accessories! :)
You and I live really local- like within a couple miles according to Google. I recognise the paving on the floor and sea huts at 0:25 and know where you took it. I think I recognise a couple of the other pictures too, including the tree in the field at 0:30. Very cool to see someone so local.
My personal camera is a Sony a6100 with the basic 16-50 kit lens. I've been making videos for years using my phone and recently upgraded to the Sony and I couldn't be happier
I just started out photography and im using my dad's olympus pen ep-5 from 2013. I think its a really good camera, its compact, it can shoot at decend quality and I just love the feel of it in my hand.
I recently got into photography and shooting videos, I started on my iPhone 12 Pro Max and shot some of my favorites using the raw mode and Lightroom and for this Christmas I got a Sony a6100 and use it for both stills and video with it, I am very happy with the results
I've personally really gotten into photography and filmmaking lately; I use a Sony ZV-1 handheld camera, but it totally gets the job done! Love the video Mumbo (Jumbo) :)
fuji xt3 for video is it good? I was thinking about a sony a6600 but I dont think that its colors and footage are near to these film looks that fuji provides, am I wrong?
@@vagasbundo it really depends on what you shoot. If you need really good autofocus I would go with the Sony. I use vintage glass 95% of the time. So autofocus is not important to me Color wise I prefer the XT 3 because of 10 bit. But on the other hand I like slog 3 better than flog. If you don't want to Grade your Image in post I like the rec709 profile of the Fuji better. I hope that helped
I shoot on a Sony a6600 for both photo and video! Thinking of getting some accessories for making it more ready for bigger video projects, but for now it does just fine! Great photos and videos out of that camera!
For photo, I use a Sony a7ii, and for video I use a Blackmagic Pocket 4k and BMPCC OG as a B cam. When I finish college and start to earn good money, I plan to get a Kinefinity Mavo LF, and maybe two Ursa Mini Pro G1s for genlock HDR or full spectrum stuff.
omg this video is so good. I love it so much. So stylish and clean and fun. I'm currently rocking a 1+8 pro, GoPro Hero 7 Black, Sony A6300, and a Fuji XT4. Really want to get the X100v someday!
For me I'm filming on the original big ursa 4k and the ursa mini 4k with the same sensor. They both have a global shutter and the images are just gorgeous! I do photography on a Canon 5D mark II for more serious photography and portrait jobs and the panasonic lx100 for casual photography. I also have the original bmpcc for casual filming and as a b-cam to my ursas on professional jobs.
@@lavaswim for sure, for photography it certainly still holds up. For photography I actually used to also have a Canon EOS R but I liked it less even though it is more practical. The colors of the 5D mkii are just so nice and it works certainly well enough even for professional portrait work. If you have any questions or want to talk about the camera just let me know.
Mumbo Jumbo, I am shooting on a pink Nikon Coolpix S3000 that I got as a gift in 2010 when I was 8 years old. At first I only used it because I found it a bit funny that my blurry childhood vacation photos were on the same SD card as pictures of me and my college friends. As I've gotten a bit more into using it, I actually find it to be a lot of fun. It's small and easy, I don't have to worry about lenses or really much at all. I actually don't even mess with the modes or settings ever. I have found that the photos on it are so much happier. Maybe the camera is nicer than a phone, or maybe people are just laughing at the sight of a 20 year old with a little pink camera, but it's a hoot. I'd like to shoot film, but don't really have the budget to develop it all the time. Low stakes, lots of fun. Plus, you get the pleasure of using Nikon software from 2010 to upload the photos. Highly recommend :D (cool video!)
First video I have seen of yours but I want to answer the question you posed. I shoot on a Pocket 6k fully rigged up and usually on my easy Rig, I also have a Canon R6 as B-cam and for stills. Can't wait to see more that you put out! Subbed!
My cameras right now are a Polaroid SX-70, a Canon EOS 1n for Kodak Portra film, a Sony a7iii for photography and as a B or C cam then two bodies of the Sony a7siii. I love the low light ability of the a7siii especially when I film events where the light can't be controlled. I'm getting more into narrative work though with my own lights now (Aputure 300x and 200x). I also would like to shoot a project on Super8 film, so working toward that.
Stills: Canon 1100D, Panasonic Lumix G7. I use the Canon for larger framed shots and the Panasonic for macro and multiple exposure/focus stacking Video: Sony RX0 for HFR footage (haven't done much with it tbh). I'd love to eventually get my hands on an Arri or Black Magic video camera.
Please make videos like 'disconnectreconnect' or 'I hate everything I create'. Those were absolutely great, especially the disconnect one. Your channel is one of the best on UA-cam if I do say so myself.
Awesome video! I use 2 Pocket 6Ks, a Pocket 4K for gimbal and car/dash cam rigs. A Canon 80D and Mamiya RB67 Pro SD for photography. I mostly hang out with Portra 400 and 800, and Ektar 100 for my 120 film backs. Fun times and I think it's even more interesting that older cameras aren't obsolete. Everything has a purpose and that how it should be.
For someone who's interested in shooting more vintage style music videos, what camera would you recommend? I personally really like the films you've shown previously of the bmpcc, but would that be too much for someone starting out?
I personally use a bmpcc 4K for all of my work. BRAW allows you do color grade your footage to whatever look you’d want, so you can get that vintage looking color. The main thing you want to look into is vintage lenses. There are some really affordable ones that have a lot of character in the image, you may want to look into the Helios lenses. Hope this helps
@@bettemusic fujifilm x-t3, x-h1 or x-t4, the panasonic gh6.... these are all really amazing for video, way more affordable than anything black magic ever released and you can record in log and grade to your hearts desire, they all can do 10bit with an external monitor... and they have a lot of inbody options for giving footage the vintage looks so that you can skip the whole learning to grade and doing it process (eterna profile on fuji with a bit of setting magic, -2/3 sharpening, -2/3 noise reduction and 5 minutes in your editing software and you have super8 look) the x-t3 and x-h1 are also really affordable used, with a nice M42 adapter and for example some Super Takumar lenses you get an amazing vintage look for less than 1k$
For both photography and streaming I use a Fuji XT-3, I originally bought it for stills photography but with a camlink it works great for streaming. For casual stuff I have an iPhone 12 pro as well
I'm using the Canon SL3/250D. It's a great camera as long as you don't shoot video in low light, but I do. I'm saving for the R5C to have a good low-light camera and also try full-frame.
I'm still rocking the Pocket 4k as my A camera. I ordered it just before they announced the 6k though I didn't have budget to upgrade. I managed to pick up a second hand BM Micro Cinema Camera which does 1080 in DNGraw or ProRes, but still has the great dynamic range. For stills and always have it with me factor I have the Olympus E-M10 mark iii which is great for even low light stills and does reasonable 4k video in good light. Also still got a GoPro hero 7 black for tight spaces, bright days and quick and dirty stuff.
Seeing this video as someone who knows next to nothing about filmmaking and photography it was so interesting to see how much of an impact the camera has on the overall composition of the shots! it's truly amazing :D as for the camera that i use i just use my silly little phone camera ^-^
I don't do professional filmmaking or anything but for when I want to film things and want something better than my rubbish phone cam, I use a Sony FDR-AX53 camcorder, which doesn't allow all that much manual control, but is super versatile and gets very smooth footage from the built in optical stabilisation
Still use a Nikon D3300 for all my stills and videos... It's paired with an Nikon 35mm 1.8, 18-55 kit lens and an Old Nikon 35-105 F3.5-F4.5. It's getting old but still works good enough for most of my UA-cam videos.
I shoot with the Sony A7Riii and the BMPCC 6k Pro, got it after seeing your video on it, had to decide between that and the Sony A7Siii as I already own many glass but to get more into cinema I decided to leave autofocus behind. Will get the Sony A7iv for run and gun and as a bcam for blackmagic.
I use a Sony FS700 (old but gold) with an Atmos Shogun Inferno for some sexy 4k pro res raw. Not quite an Ursa but it shoots some brilliant footage! Great video Mumbo.
I've gotten into photography recently and I have a few Nikons: My mirrorless COOLPIX B500 and my DLSR D5600. I also will use a D3600 for more casual shoots and am planning on buying a D780
never ever buy the D780 it's the ugly step child of Nikon... it's a D750 just that Nikon forgot to add a bunch of features and more importantly compatibilities
Im a teenager, and am extremely interested in cinematography and video. Your videos are incredible and so inspiring. Thank you for it all. Ps. I use my 13 pro and am planning on buying a Sony a7 iii soon
Fuji X-H1 for video and X-Pro1 for stills, the x-trans sensor is just magic... the colors...... ohhh the colorrrsssss.... don't work on huge productions but with a bit of janky rigging it has been enough to get some smaller music video productions going
A7c is my pocket rocket of choice at the moment - small form factor full frame goodness! Looking at a7siii if I'm opting for something more video orientated! Would be tempted by BMPCC but as a one man band I love too many features with the Sonys. Just need 422 10 bit! Love 3:51 it kills me every time haha
My workhorse camera is a Panasonic GH5S, while it is micro four thirds the image it produces is lovely (same sensor as the bmpcc4k). It has 4:2:2 10 bit video with log meaning there's enough information and dynamic range for colour grading and some room for exposure correction. I personally love its inbuilt time lapse function (that I use far too much), which I use with raw photos for editing.
Pocket 4k/6k, iPhone 13pro, Red Komodo, Fuji xT4. I’m getting Red vraptor soon. On another note I’m looking forward to the 16k Ursa Major Medium Format Cinema Camera 🙃
As someone who love photography but doesn't want to spend money on a dedicated camera, my phone is Invaluable. Sensors these days are amazing for how compact they are but I lose a lot of depth. Editing in Lightroom helps bring back some life but they do come out flat sometimes.
Didn't really have a lot of money to buy stuff currently, but I do have Sony HX99 and Canon M50 for stills and 2 Canon M100 (one for the manual gimbal, one for "webcam")
I currently shoot on my 7D mkii. I'd like to upgrade at some point to a Pocket 6k Pro or a C100 mk2 due to ergonomics and them being dedicated cinema cameras.
I used to use a Pentax K-50 as a cheap little starter camera and would switch between that and my Galaxy S6 camera. I now rarely use the K-50 and have an S21 so I mainly use that for any photography or video.
Great video, good pacing, excellent information, reasonable. Great. I shoot with the A7SIII, beautiful imagine but I hate the ergonomics. I fly an Easy Rig all day and it's just crap to have a flip out screen as my primary controls, even with an Atomos Ninja V atop. An FX6 is on my radar, but so is a Komodo, it's just hard to justify a complete system shift (especially from FF). Great stuff!
every time I see Mumbo's face i'm lowkey disappointed with the lack of mustacheo there -______- but I guess the great content does make up for it. a soul for a soul
For my railway filming outings I wanted decent camera quality but nothing massive. My most recent camera is Panasonic HC-X1500, and it produces brilliant 4K 60FPS quality, though at night its a challenge with its small sensor, but its also, for what it does, very compact. A good bit of kit to take with you in a backpack, for instance.
Love it! I'm currently using the Sony A7iii for Stills and Video, and the Insta360 One X2 for fun. Trying to upgrade to the FX6, but sadly that's not available at the moment.
I am just a student who has gotten himself really into photography through the past year and I use my handy dandy phone. Honestly it gets the job done but if I could I would surely upgrade to a beginner's level DSLR. Probably a Fuji.
I use a Sony A7III mainly for work related photography and because I don't always want to carry this big boy with me when I'm out shopoting on my own I wanna get my heads on a X100V but it's been on pre-order for like half a YEAR
I have a Google Pixel 4a which not a lot of people would choose to film with but becomes shockingly capable in good situations and takes awesome photos (especially when paired with a camera app with pro controls and camera2api). For any more professional situations, my EOS 250d works okay but unfortunately has no raw video and really is best for photography. Finally, my EOS M (yep the first one) is modified using Magic Lantern which gives it the ability to shoot raw video in up to 5k anamorphic which is really awesome and produces the highest quality footage. Ironically, it is the oldest camera I own 😂.
Dude magic lantern is literally magic. I got to experience it with my old 1100D but it's just clearly not powerful enough for higher quality video. I really miss it on my newer 800D
@@bryan.w.t You are so right, it was mind-blowing when I first saw a before before and after. Literally one of the best things I've ever seen 😂. It definitely isn't enough to compete with the newer Pocket Cinema 4k that has a great sensor to begin with, but mind-blowing considering you can find the EOS M for just above $100!
My photography cameras: Nikon 810, Nikon D3x... Both were from sponsored sources, so, don't exactly have the heart to sell them. In the future, I will buy another Nikon D3H... I have had to sell it for financial reasons a long time ago. Haven't gotten around to replacing it. Video cameras: Panasonic GX85... It was the first video camera I owned, and kitted out with SmallRig parts... I am going to take it to the grave with me. 😆 I do have an Original Black Magic Pocket camera, it's something I always wanted, I don't have batteries or anything. It just sits on my shelf, mocking me. I don't care, cause, that's not going anywhere either! 😅 I know, you're not gonna read any of this, but, just thought it was funny that you made me think about my gear.
Hello there, i have made a few tiny short films with terrible acting with some friends on holidays :D Also been doing lots a fotos on my camera lately. Im shooting with a fujifilm xt-20 with some wooden handels for better handheld. I only got a slider and a tripod for shots but it works alright. Really like the camera for its simplisity and the good pic. Might buy an old lens soon. Love your work on bouth of your Channels!
I am currently using a canon eos 500d with a plethera of lences. I get some good and some bad stuff, started shooting night sky pictures and then moved on to a bunch of other stuff.
I personally am a hobby photographer and I really love nature. Im very bad at taking pictures of people, but nature photography is what I'm good at. I use my phones, a Samsung Galaxy A6+ and an A51, to make quick pictures, but for real photography I always use a Canon EOS 80D as my main camera and a 400D as my secondary/ camera for second person. The lenses I use: A Sigma 150-600mm telezoom lens A Canon 90-300mm telezoom lens A Canon 28-90mm zoom lens A Canon EFS 18-55mm wide-angle zoom lens What do you think of my setup and the EOS series in general when it comes to film making?

Hey Mumbo! Ive always used my phone, or some cheap 14 MP camera from years back. Always loved colourful stills from hikes and all that.
For both photography and streaming I use a Fuji XT-3, I originally bought it for stills photography but with a camlink it works great for streaming. For casual stuff I have an iPhone 12 pro as well
gotta love that black magic colour science
I'm using the Canon SL3/250D. It's a great camera as long as you don't shoot video in low light, but I do. I'm saving for the R5C to have a good low-light camera and also try full-frame.
Shooting on a Sony fs5 with raw update into an atomos shogun inferno for prores hq. Love the setup.
Seeing this video as someone who knows next to nothing about filmmaking and photography it was so interesting to see how much of an impact the camera has on the overall composition of the shots! it's truly amazing :D
as for the camera that i use i just use my silly little phone camera ^-^
The title was fixed, but the thumbnail of this video still contains an incorrect apostrophe between camera and s
One piece of history survived XD
All i have is my iPhone XR. I don’t do cinematic pictures often but when I do it works well enough for me in my opinion.
I don't do professional filmmaking or anything but for when I want to film things and want something better than my rubbish phone cam, I use a Sony FDR-AX53 camcorder, which doesn't allow all that much manual control, but is super versatile and gets very smooth footage from the built in optical stabilisation
My main is a Canon c300 mark 3, great camera to rig up for any production. My bmpcc 6k pro lives on my gimbal.
I use a GX9 for stills. Sadly never do video but I do have a OG pocket. And using a bunch of old lenses between the two.
Still use a Nikon D3300 for all my stills and videos... It's paired with an Nikon 35mm 1.8, 18-55 kit lens and an Old Nikon 35-105 F3.5-F4.5. It's getting old but still works good enough for most of my UA-cam videos.
bruh mumbo lives close by to me that bridge in his photos is just up the road from my house
@@LoFiAxolotl Oh really? I haven't looked to much into it yet but thanks for the info!
Im a teenager, and am extremely interested in cinematography and video. Your videos are incredible and so inspiring. Thank you for it all.
Ps. I use my 13 pro and am planning on buying a Sony a7 iii soon
same here And ive got an 80d eos
That's a solid kit! Love your work man!
I am on a Nikon Z6 for stills, and Blackmagic Pocket 6k for films
Hahaha the 8mm part... so relatable.
Same thing exactly - bought, used ones and realized how f*cking expensive it is. Never used again
0:59 looks like he’s holding a light saver
As someone who love photography but doesn't want to spend money on a dedicated camera, my phone is Invaluable. Sensors these days are amazing for how compact they are but I lose a lot of depth. Editing in Lightroom helps bring back some life but they do come out flat sometimes.
Loved every second of this video
Didn't really have a lot of money to buy stuff currently, but I do have Sony HX99 and Canon M50 for stills and 2 Canon M100 (one for the manual gimbal, one for "webcam")
I shoot with a Bmpcc 4k, 6k pro and I just got an ursa mini g2 this year when they sliced the price in half.
I currently shoot on my 7D mkii. I'd like to upgrade at some point to a Pocket 6k Pro or a C100 mk2 due to ergonomics and them being dedicated cinema cameras.
I use a cannon 80d with an 18-135 and a 10-18 wide angle also have gopro hero 7 black with the karma gimbal
I have the Red Komodo as my workhorse and I love it!
every time I see Mumbo's face i'm lowkey disappointed with the lack of mustacheo there -______- but I guess the great content does make up for it.
a soul for a soul
I use an Ipevo VZ-R document camera to livestream D&D model painting. for photos, just my Samsung s10.
i dont take photos that often but when i do i always use my phone and its pretty good
I'm currently using my M6 mark ii for UA-cam videos, but I plan on upgrading to the Lumix S5 soon as I want to get more into cinematography
I bought the S5. It's beautyful
GIVE US THE PASTA CUT
For my railway filming outings I wanted decent camera quality but nothing massive. My most recent camera is Panasonic HC-X1500, and it produces brilliant 4K 60FPS quality, though at night its a challenge with its small sensor, but its also, for what it does, very compact. A good bit of kit to take with you in a backpack, for instance.
Love it!
I'm currently using the Sony A7iii for Stills and Video, and the Insta360 One X2 for fun. Trying to upgrade to the FX6, but sadly that's not available at the moment.
Ahhhhhhh! Grammar, it’s not “camera’s”, it’s just “cameras”.
Heyyy it’s fixed! Not in the thumbnail though
I am just a student who has gotten himself really into photography through the past year and I use my handy dandy phone. Honestly it gets the job done but if I could I would surely upgrade to a beginner's level DSLR. Probably a Fuji.
damn fk the cameras. your colorgrading is incredible!
You just know every time Mumbo makes one of these he's going to paranoid about pasta sauce being on his lip.
Cameras* 👀 great video though
To answer your question; I shoot on a fully rigged out Lumix GX 80 in combination with Meike 16mm Cine glass.
It definitely isn't enough to compete with the newer Pocket Cinema 4k that has a great sensor to begin with, but mind-blowing considering you can find the EOS M for just above $100!
i use a nikon d7000 mainly for photos but i sometimes use it for video at 25-30 fps 4k
I do have an Original Black Magic Pocket camera, it's something I always wanted, I don't have batteries or anything. It just sits on my shelf, mocking me.
I don't care, cause, that's not going anywhere either! 😅
I know, you're not gonna read any of this, but, just thought it was funny that you made me think about my gear.

The lenses I use:
A Sigma 150-600mm telezoom lens
A Canon 90-300mm telezoom lens
A Canon 28-90mm zoom lens
A Canon EFS 18-55mm wide-angle zoom lens
What do you think of my setup and the EOS series in general when it comes to film making?
I currently just shoot videos on my phone, which is a Samsung Galaxy A10e, and it works pretty well! :)
Hey mumbo. I filmed my brothers rc car the other day and did some editing and it turned out good even though I used my phone.
I use and R5 and Eos R and XT4 :)
