In my opinion this is the most important mechanic in going from champ to go. You may want to consider changing the video title to reflect that. This video deserves more views, just saying.
So true. Thank you so much. Puts it all in perspective as a new a RL player from since free to play trying to break past champ 3 now…. This is such an important video for the fast track to GC
In my experience, one of the biggest problems is that at lower ranks people develop a bad habit of just hitting the ball away into the opponent. You don't get punished for giving away possession when the opponent gives it right back. Low rank is almost like a derpy game of pong. Once I ranked up, and players started to actually control the ball, I had this bad habit built-in over hundreds of hours of playtime. So in addition to learning to perfect ball control, you have to constantly consciously remind yourself to hold possession, in order to eventually break out of this bad habit.
I was messing about recently and I believe that you slow at the same rate by either releasing the accelerator, or holding brake whilst still also holding the accelerator as they cancel each other out. So you can do either of these. I find it easier so maybe others may too
I did most of the editing but anything that looks especially pretty is most likely the touch ups and effects that my editor Caleb added! He’s the best :)
I actually just got myself a Thrustmaster eSwap x and I have to say it is a really good controller. I was hesitant to give Thrustmaster another try but I have to say that the responsiveness and shape of the controller is amazing. My only grip is the lightweight feel to the controller which some people may like I personally don't but it was easy to get used to. Definitely recommend! Great video as always.
Great video. I found your videos a while back they explain many factors of rocket league that others do not touch. The finer details, the real game changers. Thanks for uploading your content. I have ranked up one full rank every season for the last 3 seasons.
Holy crap sharing to everyone I play with. So true. Thank you so much. Puts it all in perspective as a new a RL player from since free to play trying to break past champ 3 now…. This is such an important video for the fast track to GC
Great Video! I was hype to see you pop up on my homepage. Also, I can confirm the eSwap is the BEST controller I've used in 20+ years of gaming. Its premium and built to last. It's already lasted me longer than any other controller I've had.
@@bigcrayay9993 I've had mine for a year and half and normally controllers only last me 6 months because I am rough with them. I've tried Elite controllers, SCUF, custom modded, default xbox/PS4. Nothing has been as good!
Learning to catch the ball from a variety of angles and speeds is probably the one thing I can point at and be like 'yep, thats the thing that got me through diamond and champ'- great video!
Bro this is the best mecanincs video I have ever watched. I've really struggled with the set up of my plays in game and have tried to work on my first touch. This helps a ton
Awesome video Virge! I love how you really break it down. Your video on kick-offs/50s was just as good! That video has helped me so much, and I'm sure this one will too. Thanks again!
another underrated mechanic in rocket league that i use and not see many other people use are fake jumps. Just tapping jump when the other team cant see you (if they're on the wall or the ball is right above them) causes them to freak out and usually give up possession
The idea for this video is great and it's a very important concept to apprehend. This was a nice attempt at explaining it but I still feel like there's more to it.
I mean If I watched this video years ago when I was a lower rank, this explanation would be such a profound help to my improvement. The explanation was spot on, common sense
Can you do one of these for how to eliminate recoil on your car as you hit the ball? This is all well and good but when the ball hits your car and causes it to recoil all out of whack, the rest is useless.
That won’t happen if you are grounded when you get the touch. But if your going for a first touch in the air you usually have to anticipate the recoil and use it to recover
I have grown accustomed to using powerslide to help absorb the ball's impact. Are there any downsides to using powerslide in addition to the methods you described?
Perfect video but the training packs are rough. I'm a gc2 and I struggle with those packs. It would be awesome to have one training pack that slowly builds in difficulty
oh lord i have to train my brain, which has recieved 5.7k hours of rocket league, to let go to accelerator... ive been playing since 2015 and ive developed the habit of holding gas in the air, through flicks, through everything except when i need to 1/2 flip
I have the Thrustmaster s eswap pro, but it is difficult to stall, half flip and musty flip or breezi. Could you try to find a fix for this or help me?
When you're looking to go from ground to air with your first touch is it usually better to let the ball bounce before hitting it or trying to use your hood to pop it up? I've seen a lot of people jump with the ball after a bounce to get hits but I'm not too good with that quite yet
Letting it bounce is the easier option but it comes with more risk. The ball gets further from you, leaving more room to be challenged. Touching off your hood is harder to execute but keeps it closer, giving you more options and less risk
Thanks for watching, I hope you enjoyed the video!! Much love ❤️

Nah man the most underrated mechanic is the tripple flip reset pogo double tap
Hands down, the best add ever. bruh, lmao.
Virge the GOAT coming back with the tutorial. This one is really well explained and is definitely not talked about enough good stuff!
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed it ❤️
@@Virge ooh shazanwhich and virge is goated
Thanks bro didn't realise how much I needed this, I need to train this more it will be so helpful!
I hope this helps!! Learning how to do this will make everything that comes after it so much easier :)

That’s me, that’s where I’m at now
I think I am the one who passed the ball to you right back
Your vids give me motivation to get better at RL, thank you 🙏
I was messing about recently and I believe that you slow at the same rate by either releasing the accelerator, or holding brake whilst still also holding the accelerator as they cancel each other out. So you can do either of these. I find it easier so maybe others may too
Loving the more consistent uploads, I hope you are doing well❤️
Much love for the support my friend. Thank you, you too ❤️
Holy hell the editing on this video is fantastic! Did you do it yourself, Virge?
I did most of the editing but anything that looks especially pretty is most likely the touch ups and effects that my editor Caleb added! He’s the best :)

That transition into the sponsor was smooth. Change my mind.

That is the content we need before even looking for any mechanical skill !!! Thanks you very much Virge you'r the GOAT
Needed this bad. Kept hitting it too hard but seeing it broken in this sorta way helps so much

How long bc I might purchase

Great video Virge. Awesome information put together really well. Thank you!

Thank you Virge, i love this kind of videos, we're you always learning something new. Thx ❤️ 😊
I’ve missed your videos so much. Thanks for the help!
Nice tutorial, haven't played much recently, but this is an aspect of my game I could work on.
Make's sense. So nice to see the Big Brain himself is back!

Huge working in this video I really appreciated
some insane shots in there man! just watching opened my mind. Not to take away from the lesson that was pretty amazing too xD
More video's! Keep 'em coming, buddy it's so much better coming from someone who is an actual trainer/coach 💖
The idea for this video is great and it's a very important concept to apprehend. This was a nice attempt at explaining it but I still feel like there's more to it.
great video virge :) thanks much! love how you explain mechanics.
This was so incredibly helpful. Thank you
Welcome back virge Its been a while
you are too good at explaining things its amazing
I actually only recently realized how good it was to do this! Thanks!
6:15 never heard that in my life that you need to get a first touch like that. Holy that's insane, thnx for the tip
applying real science into this, i like it!
Hey Virge, love the video and keen to put it into use. Can you make a video or give tips or insight into first touches when arialling and in the air?
Welcome back virge we missed you!
You warned us that it would get technical and when you mentioned this "grass" thingie, I knew why you needed to give us a heads up 😅
Thank you for all these videos,
I mean If I watched this video years ago when I was a lower rank, this explanation would be such a profound help to my improvement. The explanation was spot on, common sense
That transition into the add 👌

Informative and a great quality vid! 5/5
BRO THIS IS THE BEST COACH ON EARTH
the hand and egg animation really gets me
SMOOOTH sponsor transition lmaooo
Thx man for the amazing videos and packs but I find in the second code even holding down boost I can't reach the ball
thought that this was learnt along side dribbling. most dribble packs already include this in every shot
This is very helpful the demonstrations make me under stand easy
Noti Gang! Loving the uploads Virge! Keep up the consistency I reckon everyone is loving it!! 🔥❤️😁
At 01:17 it should´ve said "'Thrust me bro"
I have grown accustomed to using powerslide to help absorb the ball's impact. Are there any downsides to using powerslide in addition to the methods you described?
You should do more 3v3 comp practice type vids
You couldn't be more right, this is the kind of stuff I need to grind
thats a difficult topic, but you explained it pretty perfect
the music at the beginning of the video reminds me of wii sports
Perfect video but the training packs are rough. I'm a gc2 and I struggle with those packs. It would be awesome to have one training pack that slowly builds in difficulty
I actually don't like the 1 sec timer at all on these packs. I want to be able to catch the ball and do whatever I want for training purposes.
Virge: welcome back to another tutorial on how to touch the ball
what a great video man, I probably didn't even think this may be a problem but what's the name of the training pack in the video?
oh lord i have to train my brain, which has recieved 5.7k hours of rocket league, to let go to accelerator... ive been playing since 2015 and ive developed the habit of holding gas in the air, through flicks, through everything except when i need to 1/2 flip

Great video I'm hitting freeplay instantly
That was the best tutorial ive ever seen
smoothest sponsor person

your the goat my guy
Dank video!
Thank you birge
I love the vids virge I use you controller settings
Best RL coach around
❤️
How did I know he was gonna talk about this, found this out and gained about 200+ mmr
"Vortex generators" bro built octane irl
Force= mass* acceleration. That’s why the force will be too high if you’re accelerating
do you have a good training pack for catches?
There’s 3 packs in the description to practice these types of catches in the video!
Imagin using anything but a stock ps4 controller
It is completely logical that the first touch is always the most important.
Linus Tech Tip level of ad segway
You flip reset on Xbox I flip reset on Nintendo switch in the bus with 200 ping off my hotspot, we are not the same😂
This is so good
:) thank you!
Shit, I defnitley need that! Thank you
Ayo what is this thing in minute 6:50 is it a new Rocket league ball😀?
I always watch the outro cuz of that song.
It’s a banger 🤩
lol we can touch on this channels sponsor haha
7sec in and I'm calling: FIRST TOUCH
Also I'm calling the last, it's momentum. Like airrolling through the ball ect 😉
Sick!
WHATS THE TRAINING PACK CODEEE
IN THE DESCRIPTIONNNNNNNNNN
You need to get musty to promo your channel so all the plats will actually improve and stop going for flip resets.
Eggsplosion
Why is lama having those colours🥲
Thus proved:
Ball is egg
Great video tho
All heil ba- I mean egg!
Wait.. so youre not just meant to hit the ball as hard as you can every time?
Super Sonic Force sounds like a Power Rangers movie
when i first hear "mechanics" i think of cars
First Touch is not a mechanic. Unless you come up with a working method to train it.
Of all the tutorials I watched no one thought to teach the first touch wtf
Hey i saw waytons car
