redemption Had a good look at some of Canyon’s endurance bikes, and one that comes in blue is absolutely amazing! If only Trek could offer more bikes in blue. 😣
Thanks for the great video! I actually bought an Ultimate last year and also went to the factory (5h drive) for a test ride. The shopping experience there is absolutely unique. You are taken care of like in no other shopping experience. It's kinda like buying a car but cool and with great people. Love that company!
When I ordered my bike, I was told I had to wait 2 weeks for assembly. The day after, I got a mail from DHL saying a package was on it's way. Love my Grand Canyon, and my next bike is guaranteed to be another Canyon.
Great film! The Canyon rep does a great interview... not overhyping. Love Canyon and the company behind the bikes. I wish they had a shop here in Florida
I see a quite a few bad opinions on Canyon so I thought I'd share my experience. I have been very happy with my Spectral for over a year now, it arrived to my house in Mexico City on the fifth day, including one day for costums. I had a tyre ripp out of the rim when cornering after a couple of months (Conti Mountain King II) and the guys at Canyon were kind enough to send me a replacement free of charge. So I get some people have had bad experiencies, however after seeing my bike, 4 of my friends have bought Canyons and their experience has been just as good. Also you just cannot beat the value for money.
I was at Canyon Home and tried out an top specced SLX just for the fun of it some ~10 years ago. I got a very good impression of the place and the people working there. Today I'm waiting for my first Canyon bike ordered a couple of days ago.
My dad bought a 2016 Canyon Exceed CF SLX 9.9 LTD a year ago and told him he was are crazy! Never heard seen/heard much about Canyon... Yesterday I bought a 2017 Canyon Aeroad CF SLX 9.0 LOL... Amazing bike, at a great price and can be order online with few click. I live somewhere lost in South Pacific and ordering directly to the factory online is perfect!
+Jos Smyth I must have gotten super lucky. From the day I placed my order to my bike arriving was less than two weeks. I know my experience is the exception to what has happened to most people.
Thanks GCN for this video! Happy to see how a canyon production facility looks like. Those who complain that the frames are made in Asia, I really don't get your argument. That's outsourcing, perfectly normal for a profit maximising firm. Since raw materials, or in this case, quality carbon fibre can be made cheaper in China or Taiwan, why shouldn't they do it there? Factories in Asia have safety and quality standards as well. Why else would a leading brand in bicycles get it done there if it compromises its reputation? Remember: cost of production =\= quality P.S. I'm neither from China or Taiwan. Happy riding guys!
Bryan Lee --> I get your point, manufacture low, sell high. But one knock off rim manufacturer has a video on here of their factory, they're dropping pieces of carbon fiber on the filthy floor, picking it up and using it in the rim lay-up. They are sanding the carbon fiber without masks or any kind of breathing protection. You can't do that for the 12hrs a day they work. 4yrs and the workers lungs give out, I can't support that.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. The guy taking Si for the tour is such a nice guy... Honestly, I have become quite a bit of a fan of Canyon after watching this video. Extremely good product publicity this :) I hope Canyon sees this comment
Jos Smyth Wow! Just saw man! Thanks for the tip! When you think of Germany you think about punctuality, righteoussness, etc. Not this kind of neglect to the costumer. Shame on you Canyon!
I`ve got Grand Canyon CF SL, perfect bike. After some time, saddle was producing cranky sounds ... they replaced with new peace very shortly, so it is not true that customer service is bad (since mine experience was fine) Wanted road bike, so I`ve got Ultimate CF SL - it is dream road bike, really like it. Wanted to replace my stolen city bike ... so Urban SL is it and riding it every day everywhere in town. Canyon bikes are superb, light and working as I wanted. no complains, since performance for the money is best Yes, sometimes you have to wait long for the new bike, but it is worth it!
Really appreciate that you presented although having that rough voice SI. "Side note" if any one from gcn sees this please send over si to reply if he is around
Really interesting to see the production line - now I understand why there aren't any Grail 6's in stock in 3XS - well, aside from the supply chain issues, of course!
GCN should mention the part where two weeks after you order your bike they e-mail you to tell you it is going to be a month later than they originally said. Then they e-mail you again to tell you that it's been delayed again. But don't worry, they are going to give you a free scarf if your bike ever arrives.
As much as I hate to pour water on one of your videos, I do like them! I was looking at a canyon, The initial price was oh so tempting, by the time I add the small shipping cost the substantial duty and taxes… Yes I might as well go to my local bike store and support local business.
Thanks for the tour. It's good to see bikes being built in such an elegant manner. Probably Robby Ketchell of Sky couldn't design a better production line.
Very cool, especially how the Canyon tour guide is so matter-of-factly and never boasts, just lets the product and factory speak for itself. I saw one of the display bikes on Campy Bora wheels; but apparently Campy components are no longer available on Canyon bikes today. Are they ever going to offer that again?
You didn't cover the bit where you order a bike from Canyon and then 3 months later when it's supposed to be delivered they tell you there's another 8 month delay until you'll get it!
When are they going to enter the US market? Why is there a 5 month leadtime on their bikes? So many questions I want answered. I also want to see GCN riding the Canyon CX bike.
the leadtime is there because they build and ensemble the bike especially for your order, so they don't have the bike sitting around in a warehouse or something, they need to build it up first. they have a lot of orders coming in so it takes some time to finish each order, but sometimes you are lucky and it takes only 3 or 4 weeks
+Francis Paulin I live in koblenz, I've got a lot of friends who work there and I've got 2 bikes from canyon and as much as I know, you order a bike, and then they ensemble it for your order, so there aren't any bikes ready to be bought....I'm from Germany so I don't exactly know what build in batches means, but in my knowledge batch production is a term for the process of ensemblig a product on more than one work stations, so the term batch production has nothing to do with the bike being build for your order or not
+Vince X Building in batches could for example mean that in the first week of the year they make a load of Aeroad's, the next week they make Ultimate's, etc (I think the German translation is "die Partien"). It may well be or have been as you describe, but in the video they clearly state building in batches as the reason for the long waiting times, which can sometimes be months.
+Francis Paulin oh ok, now I get what you meant, haha, ok, my bad, I think it's a mixture of both...batch production and a lot of orders to work at what makes it that so. at the moment they are veeery slow because they have software (IT) problems, so if you would like to order a bike I would wait a bit till the leadtime is at
Great, and timely, vid. This has convinced me to pull the trigger on a new Endurace. Plus Canyon do XXL for us long lanky buggers (and actually have it in stock) 👍
I'm still waiting on my Canyon mountainbike here in Germany. It should be delivered in November 2105 and this date got shifted again and again and now I hope, that the latest date in late April is the final date of delivery...
Furious with my Canyon MTB that arrived last week. The instructions for assembly did not correlate with the components on the bike. The dropper post connection was completely different and I ended up searching Reddit and finding a thread on this common problem. It was an awful experience which took a few hours to resolve. With that and some damage in the bike I’ve sent it back and will go and purchase from a store where the assembly is the responsibility of the bike shop. An awful experience with Canyon for me.
I wonder if going to their factory will allow you to skip the 6 month (some say 8-11 months!!) wait for online delivery. That'd be worth a trip to Germany in the summer for sure, then you can go for an epic ride right away!
I seriously been thinking to get a mtb from Canyon, but after reading about all the serious problems of shipping, missing date lines and customer service Canyon is having ... I dont know anymore
Hey Si, don't suppose you could grab my Ultimate CF SL for me while you're there? They've had it 3 months! Must be mended by now? I live in Bath, so I'll meet you at Society? 😀🙌🏻 Cheers
if u can do more of other bikes factory tour that will be awesome, thank you. its really interesting/good. more on R&D of wats coming up cycling industry. :)
Canyon Ultimate SL frameset for £999 or Enigma Echo or Evade Ti for £1299 (frame only). I am looking for a fast but forgiving frame on our British (rough surfaced) road. Does anyone have any experience of either of these frames?
Would be nice to see GCN remake this factory tour video with the latest and greatest Canyon tech. Also with Si having a full voice
THey should do it now
2:21 I didn't think I would ever say this about a pink bike... But DAMN, that thing looks gorgeous!
+gargoyleex Nairo Quintana's bike on 2014 Giro d'Italia :)
The Canyon blue shade color that they have is sweet...
redemption Had a good look at some of Canyon’s endurance bikes, and one that comes in blue is absolutely amazing! If only Trek could offer more bikes in blue. 😣

Im pretty sure canyon has 0 shops in the entire world, online only
I see a quite a few bad opinions on Canyon so I thought I'd share my experience. OMG.. I am loving this tour! Props to Canyon
..and to Si for going where no non-staff has gone before!!!
What are the chances that I order a GCN hat and it comes with a Canyon bike thrown in?
Joseph Seitz --> The hat would cost between 6-10k..
Joseph Seitz 🤣
LOL
Slim at best
Zilch
That was fascinating! Thank you for the tour! Just got my first Canyon bike (Precede 7) and I absolutely love it.
@chrysalis congrats on the new bike! today my grail 7 arrived, i'm so hyped for the first testride tomorrow =)
I was at Canyon Home and tried out an top specced SLX just for the fun of it some ~10 years ago. I got a very good impression of the place and the people working there.
Today I'm waiting for my first Canyon bike ordered a couple of days ago.
I felt it in my well conditioned cycling groin that a GCN video had been uploaded and clicked to my subscriptions straight away.
My dad bought a 2016 Canyon Exceed CF SLX 9.9 LTD a year ago and told him he was are crazy!
Never heard seen/heard much about Canyon...
Yesterday I bought a 2017 Canyon Aeroad CF SLX 9.0 LOL...

Great video for behind the scenes and introducing Canyon a little more. Splendid work! Thanks
The voice makes it more epic :D
totally agree
+Jos Smyth I must have gotten super lucky. From the day I placed my order to my bike arriving was less than two weeks. I know my experience is the exception to what has happened to most people.
+Jos Smyth I got my bike one week after ordering, even though I was told assembly could take up to two weeks.

I'm afraid if the video had taken a little longer, he would have lost his voice ;-)
Thanks GCN for this video! Happy to see how a canyon production facility looks like.

Happy riding guys!
Maybe GCN could do a similar video for Giant or perhaps a carbon production facility in China? That would be really cool!
Yes, then we could see what the average Canyon bike looks like during production.
Bryan Lee --> I get your point, manufacture low, sell high. But one knock off rim manufacturer has a video on here of their factory, they're dropping pieces of carbon fiber on the filthy floor, picking it up and using it in the rim lay-up. Wow! These factory videos are just fantastic. Thank you.
i love those bikes ..... GCN guys are doing a great job ....congratulations from Canada
Very nice vid. I live nearby the Canyon HQ, and yet this is the best insight I ever got into all that is behind the showroom
German engineering, design and quality - just amazing!
Been riding a Canyon Ultimate CF love every bit of it. I will never switch to another brand.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. The guy taking Si for the tour is such a nice guy... Honestly, I have become quite a bit of a fan of Canyon after watching this video. Extremely good product publicity this :) I hope Canyon sees this comment
Legend said Si came back with a couple more Aeroad ;)
It looks like that person who gets that lucky bike might also get tonsillitis.
Its a double surprise.
How come someone can dislike a vid like this? This is like Disneyland for bike lovers!
Jos Smyth Wow! Just saw man! Thanks for the tip! When you think of Germany you think about punctuality, righteoussness, etc. Not this kind of neglect to the costumer. Shame on you Canyon!
Oh my gosh...... Bike envy to the max have defiantly seen my dream bike
Plus now I understand why one bike costs a fortune
I`ve got Grand Canyon CF SL, perfect bike. After some time, saddle was producing cranky sounds ... they replaced with new peace very shortly, so it is not true that customer service is bad (since mine experience was fine)

I really like my Endurace CF, nice tour guys :)
nice design, works well and very easy to set up.
Great video! This week I recieved my Canyon Aeroad and it is perfect!
Really interesting to see the production line - now I understand why there aren't any Grail 6's in stock in 3XS - well, aside from the supply chain issues, of course!
This video was very interesting! It is great to see the production facility of a Bicycle Manufacturer
U guys are killing it on UA-cam!
Can you please do some more "Inside the ... Factory's" ??
Would love to see Lightweight or Pinarello.
That was a great factory tour....if I didn't have a nice bike, I'd buy a Canyon!
Looking to buy one of their mountain bikes so this is great to see.
02:21 Direct-buy from factory doesn't work for now, you can see his discomfort when Si asks it.
impressive factory
Great video thanks for sharing 👍🚲
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell him to sell to North America! These bikes look phenomenal and we want them!
Woo, Koblenz! If only I had known you were coming to my hometown :-D
canyon are so chill
I'm loving my 2019 Ultimate!
Amazing video! Cheers Guys
Canyon is my favourite bike brand
Excellent video thx! I’m considering a canyon and this video sure did help me w my decision. Love GCN!
Thanks for the support, Andris! Enjoy your Canyon!

That hat thing was so cool
oh~canyon long live the canyon with gcn
This made me laugh a lot, please send Simon mountain biking in Ibiza!
Nice video guys.
Verry intressing
I live like 15k away from the factory :)
Thanks for the tour. It's good to see bikes being built in such an elegant manner. Probably Robby Ketchell of Sky couldn't design a better production line.
Nice to see where my bike came from
I love canyon bikes
that's ace love seeing video like this

I saw one of the display bikes on Campy Bora wheels; but apparently Campy components are no longer available on Canyon bikes today. Are they ever going to offer that again?
Very nice bikes!! Well...I think the frame set are made in Taiwan.
beautiful facility. I think I am ordering the CANYON Inflite AL SLX 5.0 Race bike today! its on sale for $1499!
You didn't cover the bit where you order a bike from Canyon and then 3 months later when it's supposed to be delivered they tell you there's another 8 month delay until you'll get it!
There's no such thing, and even if there was I guess you were very unlucky
@@DoomNerd67200 of course there is, just look at Trustpilot...
Gab riel mine came in less than a week so 🤷🏻♂️
They are all mostly made in China "Taiwan" , and it is well known that they can have heavy delays in the delivery.
Thats bull shit I order my bike and got it in 9 days. Why are you lying.
Love this kind of content!
Thats it, getting a Canyon next. I love my last two Ghosts, but they better keep up before I move on.
The people at this factory seemed less friendly than in other factories that CGN tours. At lest the host finally smiled at the end lol
When are they going to enter the US market?
Why is there a 5 month leadtime on their bikes?
So many questions I want answered.

I am loving my Canyon :)
Can't wait till the new Aeroad comes out, and when it does, it'll either be that or the Pinarello F12.

get well soon Si!
I was going to buy a canyon bike but the order said it would take 2 months! So I bought an Orbea instead and it was delivered in 3 days.
their bikes always seem to be out of stock
Aw, look at the little boy in the toy shop. Si's face is a picture early on.
Thanks Canyon.
Just ordered my new Canyon Grail: On CF8 from this factory, hope everything turns out as expected i.e. delivered on time and no parts missing?
Awesome.
I seriously been thinking to get a mtb from Canyon, but after reading about all the serious problems of shipping, missing date lines and customer service Canyon is having ... I dont know anymore
I think this video is intending to make us believe than Canyon is out of problems
WHY IS NOBODY TALKING ABOUT THAT SHORT VIDEO OF SI HYPING UP?!
Get well soon Simon! :)
Hey Si, don't suppose you could grab my Ultimate CF SL for me while you're there? They've had it 3 months! Must be mended by now?
I live in Bath, so I'll meet you at Society? 😀🙌🏻
Cheers
Loved it. May I suggest you to visit other bike / components factories ? Would love to see GCN at Ridley's for example
- Apologizes for for voice
- Sounds better and has better diction than 20+ year TV talking heads
thanks for blowing out my speakers.
sick how big it is.
now I'm convinced that I should get a canyon bike :)
Got one in july 2016, driven 33.000km, absolutely great.
Wish they open a hq where you can test ride in the uk
Nice!!!
I have one from Canyon, I would recommended.
if u can do more of other bikes factory tour that will be awesome, thank you. its really interesting/good. more on R&D of wats coming up cycling industry. :)
super, super cool. THANKS!
but that hoodie string is killing me :)
Mais salut toi
GCN can you make a show about the advantages and disadvangtes of buying direct vs. buying from your local shop?
You succeeded in making a few of those germans smile.
I was your 670,000th sub :)
awesome
Canyon Ultimate SL frameset for £999 or Enigma Echo or Evade Ti for £1299 (frame only). I am looking for a fast but forgiving frame on our British (rough surfaced) road. Does anyone have any experience of either of these frames?
Have the ultimate cf slx sl. . fantastic bike. . . Great frameset. Outperforms my Storck completely despite costing half the price. great bike.
The Canyon rep stated that brakes are reversed depending on the country (left versus right side driving). I did not know that.
Campagnolo Factory Tour Please!!
