After not touring for 2 years, throwing a group together last minute, and having to follow Queen after one of the biggest moment in music history. This Chad of a man walked out in a suit and rocks live aid as hard if not harder than before. Bowie was in a league of his own and it’s not close. Rest in Power you beautiful soul
Dolby apparently was instrumental to the line up. Wait what.. DOLBY was there, how did i miss this. Fucking Chad Thundercock and Dolby on the same stage? (if you ever see bowie in the US flag bathing suit picture with Iman yea that works.. umm yea lol)
True words.
@@StrategyInformer-sjgoldoh, yeah I remember that picture 😊God bless America, whoo ! David thundercock Bowie
Spot on! This man changed the world (more than once), through music and his character which can never be matched!
An alien to the species.
How can you NOT love Bowie?
It's impossible.
if loving bowie is wrong.... then i don't want to be right.
@@thevoid99 I don' t love him I am woman and I am straight.
peggy suicadal tendecies pretty sure they weren’t talking about it in a sexual way
@@zero-gj8ss what does that have to do with anything?
Bowie is not dead, only his physical body.
His spirit lives forever in our hearts thru the music he created.
He is immortal

I guess he arrove in 1984...

you clearly don't know anything about the 80s lol
He also was the second singer in WHAM, LOL. The most 80s group
Called Pedro Ortiz
Unpopular opinion but I love Bowie much more than Queen
Me too
Louie R i agree Bowie rules

Laura Jong de it’s a Red Hot Chili Peppers album cover (the album’s called Californication)
I am still in so much ”Modern Love” with Bowie….never gonna fall with anyone like this again…..RIP
Modern Love is my favorite David Bowie song. I still remember listening to this non stop on my cassette player when I was a teenager back in the 80's.
Thank Nile Roger’s from Chic.
look at the joy with which he performs. was there anyone more charismatic, charming, talented, or just downright cool as David Bowie? I think not
Lowkey probably me but ya know
Well, he just followed Queen, with Freddy Mercury hailed as the most charismatic energetic singer
In my opinion London had the best artists and the most memorable presentations, and the clearest proof is David Bowie, what a magnificent version of Modern Love RIP Mr Bowie 🕊️💐
Speaking of great performances in London, Earl's Court has had some of the greatest shows ever!
R.I.P DAVID BOWIE
BEST OF BEST
THE LEGENDARY
BRITISH 🇬🇧 BEST SINGER EVER
Forgot Elton John and Freddie darling ! But yes David Bowie was such an AMAZING artist ! (And i m bloody sad that elton didn’t like him ! But.. 🤷🏽♀️ not my problem ! I love both SO MUCH ! ❤️)
I miss him!
@@anaisb5271 Elton John is not dead yet
David Bowie isn't british
@@mr.nahuel8478 Okay, let's hear it, what nationality is Bowie ? Or to put it a different way, since when is Brixton not part of London, which happens to be the capital of Great Britain.
Those back up singers and really the rest of the band look like they are having so much fun ❤
When your grandmother was once a backup singer for David Bowie...……….
Thay c Really?
wot
which one?
C'mon now, luv - you can't leave us hanging like that...
Tessa???
The sad part: David Bowie is dead. The good part: David Bowie LIVED!
The other good part, we’re alive now to hear his timeless music!!!
The magnetism like that nobody will ever compare even close
How can you not just adore Tessa Niles 💞💞💞she has sung with so many of my favourite artists and stands out like a shining star in her own right ! 💞
Bowie is such a legend....And his back up singer with the blonde hair has me mesmerized.
Her name is Tessa Niles. She was (retired now I believe but not sure) one of the more heavily sought backgournd singers in England. She sang with the likes of George Harrison, Eric Clapton (I first became aware of her on his Unplugged), Elton John, and of course, Bowie.
Awesome info Brian M...Thanks!
Tessa Niles doing her Olivia Newton John thing. Backed EC on the memorable Knebworth '90 show, also on MTv.
Tessa still does some backing vocal work. She has just done BV’s on Sarah Jane Morris’s new album. She also has a show that she regularly performs called Unsung Singers which is all about the British backing singers and their contribution to British music. It features Tessa, Gina Foster, Mim Grey, Keith Murrell and the MD is Mike Moran ( Co writer with Freddie Mercury on Barcelona )
Same with me. The smile, the eyes, the voice - stunning!
How cool is Bowie??!
Pat Donnelly well...he’s cooler than you
@@MrFranganito he certainly is...he's cooler than anybody!
Cooler than the Arctic Circle, my friend.
The coolest
Pat Donnelly extremely 😎
I saw an interview where David said about Queen, " How the hell am I going to follow that?"
He did a great job actually
He followed it just fine!!!
hollybeat6901 But Queen was better 😉
@Carl Buffer even though I love Bowie, it's the opinion of the majority.
@@stoox006 really
He followed Queen and killed it as only he could
A beautiful day in the world
Brought together by music and love
We need this now in today’s world
Miss you David and Freddie and all the other greats who brought us so many lovely moments
🌻
We need days like this now
I think David Bowie and Queen were the best of that Incredible day! I wish I could travel on time to see them :c
Yea and 1 was gay and 1 was bisexual...o shit did I dare say that hahaha love it wat a pare xx
Elton John... Queen, Bowie and Elton

"I never wave bye-bye."
Proceeds to wave bye-bye.
Ahahahahahhahahahahahah
But he tried
@@Sleepflowrr Can't say he didn't try.
The quality of 80s music artists you never find today... I am so lucky to be teenage in 80s
I remember when this song was playing on the radio charts in the height of 1985. I was a 13 year old teenager. It was a trip. Old times that marked my life.
Eternal David Bowie!
To be here, buddy, that would've been epic. David Bowie seems to be genuinely energized to be on stage. He seems born to do this.
He was born to do THAT!
Not too many performers could have followed Queen's dynamic performance, as well as Bowie. He also opened The Concert for New York City, post 9/11, with a FANTASTIC version of Pail Simon's, "America". Then ended with "Heroes". There was never a moment too big for that man. RIP DAVID!
the day Bowie died, I listened to Modern Love in the evening, dancing by myself, and crying.
I remember this show... I was 30... was great! David Bowie.... the soft rock idol... Amazing!
But now through this video, I can see the special presence of the singer Tessa ... she was like a jewel... an explosion of emotions! A very pretty woman!
He wasn't "soft rock", he was rock just not like Thin Lizzy or AC/DC.
He was art rock
Always come back to live aid and BOWIE for me this was the highlight.....and Claire on sax was a stand out ...... David the genius
Longing for those wonderful years that will never return...what a wonderful world we had then. Thank God I grew up in the best decade.
Soo much energy and happiness back then. God I miss those times!
Where you born at that time? Or are you dwelling just like me? ❤😢
If Queen and Bowie were there, why did not they sing Under Preassure together?
bris fry no stupid...
there are probably several reasons; lacking of preparation time, lacking of time to perform it (limited time slots - and Bowie used a part of his for a film about the people in ethopia!) and I'm not sure how close they actually were at this point in time
Thats a great question.
Freddie's voice was shot, and that's a tough one to sing. (He had laryngitis at tge time)
@@Leefryyinc That's completely incorrect...
Tessa Niles on backing vocals a legend in her own right.
There are only a few acts in music that are so beloved by so many people that fans would pay full ticket price to go to a venue and sing an artist's entire catalogue at him while he stayed silent.
Bowie was just such an artist.
Bowie was just the coolest
All credit to the backing band......but by God.....this song is just all Bowie, his entire presence is just overpowering. Whenever he appears he just overtakes everything on stage. His voice, his style, his mere presence.....Absolutely masterful. A demi-god amongst us. And yet we never knew...... This man will live forever, no matter how many tearfully remember him after so-called death, he is immortal. (wave)
I worked with Mick Rock (photographer) for years, who had contact and hands on experience with all the artists at that time. He said it ALL STARTED with David Bowie, and all the artists that followed. David had influenced, and was very generous in giving advice on 'THE PERFORMANCE" and they emulated him:- Michael Jackson, Madonna, Billy Idol, Duran Duran etc. and EVEN QUEEN!
thanks for sharing this with us. 👏👏👏
Thanks for tell us. David Bowie was a Gentleman
He was the Duke, and many tried to imitate him, but he is the only one . The only Duke on Mars and on the the music World. Sweet !
Coolest dude there. Probably more blow in Wembley than all of Colombia that day.
Clee Torres lol! Best comment award goes to you!
Yes and it was probably supplied by Francis Rossi the biggest cokehead of them all
Ethiopia had more blow.....Millions of Kids, blowing, away, due to their light weight and all. Wave Bye, Bye to the Kids, being blown, away, by the 2mph Breeze.
Fucking A! Those were the days!
The song " do they know is christmas" was recorded after all performers enjoyed a bagbof cocain e that Status Quo brought to the studio
How lucky we are to have shared the same timeline of existence with David Bowie
He seems so energetic and happy here, god I miss him so much😭😭
Anyone still watching this in 2022 and still makes you happy?
Music is the only worthwhile thing in this crap.
The best song, the best singer, the best songwriter, the best artist, for me he is number 1.
Bowie was definitely in his beautiful prime right here ...rest peacefully David ⚘🙏🕊
One of my all time favourite songs, Bowie you'll be a legend forever
I’m glad I wasn’t born before I got to experience Bowie
This was funny from Rickey Gervais...
"On his 57th birthday I wrote '57, isn't it about time you got a proper job? Ricky Gervais, comedian, 42".
"He sent back 'I have a proper job. David Bowie, Rock god."

He's great, and what a bummer to have to follow Queen.
Queen stole the show but this was great also
Bowie was in his own zone. And still killed it. He's a legend for a reason.
@Ted Ozdowski omg I thought I'd pass out for sure !!! We took a cooler and drank every drop of liquid we had then drank the melted ice !!! Oh wait, not every drop. We didn't touch the vodka !!
no, that's not what happened. god was freddie for that performance and then decided to do an encore as bowie.
He did a stellar job though
As if he was going "So Queen stole the show, okay then, let's get down to business!"
Still in love with Tessa Niles! Bowie came out of nowhere to put in this performance. Still missed!
Bowie really WAS the man that fell to earth!!! He was just the best!!!
I love the style Bowie had love in that , he always played the song a little different , a little charged , he kept it alive for the listener.
Happy 75th you icon.
You can see the happiness in every single member of the band.... A real gent
Bless him in heaven. Thank you for the songs. 🦋🦋
Still don't understand why people thought Queen were the best act at Live Aid. Must have gone to make a cuppa or something when this bloke was on
You state the absolute truth... Bowie was burning the deepest art of singing. He was the total and greatest artist of all!
I love Queens performance. But wow. This touches me so much.
I'm 68 and play Bowie all time
thank god bowie followed queen... the best back to back live sets ever!
Bowie: has a girl for the high vocals
Queen: has roger...
Lmao
👏🏼👏🏼😂😂👌🏼
jajajaja amé tu comentario
Cause bowie is solo artist and queen is a fucking band
Abdul Rahman Still funny tho
I just don't get why people consider stuff like this "selling out". Modern Love in particular is amazingly soulful.
People think that just because Bowie grew his eyebrows back and stopped dying his hair red he'd some how given up on being a quality musician. Truth is, maybe he just wanted to make a fun album that could get his fans on the dance floor
Agree. No problem. David said I am gonna make a great album that, BESIDES, may contain some HITS. he achieved that. Though, to be true, it´s not as good as Scary Monsters, his absolute peak IMHO. But Modern love, good selling or not, is a hell of a great Rock´n Roll great piece. Its a bit like MFN by Dire Straits. Commercial, hit focused? yes. Absolutely GREAT, yes, too :)
Bravo 😁👏👏👍
Bowie himself referred to the '80s as his "Phil Collins years." Let's Dance was a solid-enough album, but his run of albums and tours in the years that followed were the very definition of "selling out" - I mean, do you *really* consider Tonight or Never Let Me Down to be classics in the same vein as his entire run from The Man Who Sold the World to Scary Monsters?
@@LetterNumberPeriodDashUndersco I was referring specifically to this period. The let's dance period
people fall in love with ir initial discovery of an artist because they have nothing to compare the debut to anything else of theirs. when you hear a new band and get all🤩😍🥰😍🤩😍😍🤩🥰😍🤩 is an oxytocin feeling. I think it's why a lot of times an artist sophomore album is not recognized as great until way there in their career. Sometimes the sophomore album actually sucks though. I agree Bowie's creative artistry had merit all throughout his career in every phase. He is a type of artist where following all the different phases was a fun part of knowing him and going through the journey together. I LOVED "Let's Dance" and "China Girl" from this early 80'a era of Bowie.
bro on the bongos is having the time of his life
What great backing singers! They kept up :)
This is a great song.
What an amazing talent Bowie was. His music will stand the test of time.
I love him, I still miss him
Bowie fantastic 1985 / 1986 at his best. Camped in my lounge with a friend for the duration of live aid concert. Fantastic
I really think that bowie is better than queen. I mean, bowie apart from being a singer is an icon of culture. and for me he is (and will remain) the king.
Queen has the hits and the larger than life frontman. But Bowie is more than that. I love them both, but I’m obsessed with Bowie.
This was David’s best stage act. So much energy on that stage! Miss you Mr. Bowie may you RIP.
coolest guy to walk earth
I really miss the 80s!
I don't think it would've been such a tough thing to follow Queen's amazing performance! Think about it - the crowd was all fired up and happy by that time, and Bowie stepped in to keep the energy going. It was already good vibe, the only way you could possibly lose would be to suddenly kill the energy with a slow tearjerker or something! Excellent performances by Queen and Bowie alike!
A Joe Walsh dirge would have killed the energy.
I was 10 at the time wasn't drive played by the Cars?
Grande approvo Io che sono una fans dei Queen da sempre . Su quel palco sono saliti i più grandi. Una musica così non ci sarà mai più 😢😢😢
1985, and this concert in particular were the absolute high point of modern music. Period.
I love that Bowie pulled out one of his old iconic 70s "Bowie suits" for this performance.
We could never wave bye bye to David Bowie, but we try,the world isn't the same without him...

Bowie and Queen stole the show. They had best performances. Bowies band was awesome they made the songs sound even better then the record. Queen were heavyweight Showmen! Great musicians and live stage performers!
En este concierto se dieron las mejores versiones en vivo de varias canciones, como es el caso de “Modern Love”! Cancionón de Bowie!

I do believe that is Tessa Niles, the blonde back up vocalist. She is a legend in background vocalists. She has appeared on LOADS OF TOP ALBUMS as background singer.
