I love your video! I have been attempting to make a large cement planter with little success so far but now I am going to try again with your hypertufa very helpful ideas and examples of trial and error til we get it correct :) DIY is so fun. I love having nice things without having to spend lots of money.
after molding the sand, "pour" a thin layer of the cement mix over it. let set just a bit. this will separate the sand from the mix, now you can add mix by the handfuls without having it peel off some sand.I love your videos :)
Thanks for the video! I have great memories of a group of us towing our boats up from Oregon several years in the late 70's to fish Salmon. The Big Rock Motel!
If you ever need cement to set up a bit faster (too wet of a mix) you can sprinkle some dry Portland on it. That will absorb the extra water and start to set quickly.
Thank you for this excellent video. I learned a great deal, you working with the soupy mixture lets me know you can fix it if you go too far on the water. I am looking forward to doing my project even more now after seeing what you do. Carry On Madam!
I could not find a follow up video. I would really like to see the finished project. If there is one, please reply with a link to the video. Thank you.
I have to say I did enjoy your video, however, why didn’t you just add more product to the mix to thicken it up a bit, I would think it would have been much easier.
Please add some big rocks to the birdbath - it's too deep and the birds could drown. I enjoyed the video and appreciate seeing mistakes - and how to carry on!
@@janethayes1908. The truth hurts sometimes. IMHO the hostess was very cordial and pleasant to listen to but way too many “not the correct way to do things” moments in the video. The killer, to me, was not doing the challenging ball, not correcting the soupy slop, and not showing the results.
@@FletcherHillier Yes it can over the very long term. But I know people who have hypertufa planters out in their gardens that are well over 10 years old. What is missing here is the leaching period. You can’t really plant directly into it after making them. Here in the PNW we usually leave them outside in the rain for a winter to do that.
Wow! You must be very sensitive to being controlled and brainwashed if you could not watch the video because of that! Holy molly! What a silly excuse to get political!🤔😊 Hard to see her logic....🤔🤔🤔
All of these problems caused by using far too much water in you cement mix and way too much oil! I should imagine that you have worked this out already!
Did you look at the end? You can do a lot with hypertufa. Her mix was a little runny so that was an issue. You can make more regularly shaped containers using a box inside a box for example, or a bowl inside a larger bowl. They end up looking almost like stone planters.

Thank you lady. I will try it. Gardening is very expensive in my country... Greetings from Greece 🇬🇷.

Very interesting video!
bird bath and drinking water hats a cool idea and cheaper too i think

Did your cement mix already contain sand ? Cause I noticed you didn't add sand?
Hi! If you throw handfuls of dry Portland cement on wet product will Anson water and stiffen hypertufa
Absorb
hi, can you use shredded paper in place of sand or peat in your hypertufa?
You have no drainage holes in the planters, are they added atsome point?
What do you charge for a hypertufa planter?
What is the substitute for Coir and peat. I can't get either and need to make a water trough
Lithuanian and Baltic peat moss are available in Greece.
Wouldn't it be stronger if you used a few cement-soaked cotton t-shirts layered over the form? Should still be light weight.
@earlcreamer7838 - That sounds interesting. Do you have videos?
What is hyper??? Is it regular cement??
If you add some crumbled free from Stores or packaging styrofoam the container you make will be lighter
terimakasih

Hello, please tell me which brand the cement mixer is. Thanks!
A lot wetter than usual hypertufa I have made. ... think would just take longer to dry. Looks like an awfully deep bird bath!
it is, the birds will drown!
Thank you, hope to see more! : )
I'm so glass that portland cement actually means your regular cement, I was confused and worried 😂
What is the mixing ratio of cement and those material?
She said equal parts of all 3 so 1/1/1
15:54 here is the recipe
Vermiculite is like asbestos..ware a mask to protect your lungs..awesome creation though.
holes for drainage
So funny watching people try to teach people the wrong way to do things.😂😂😂
But someone being an asshole is not funny!! 😂😂😂

Can i use cocopeat instead of peatmoss
I've been wondering the same thing! Because cocopeat is all i have access to
@@Kylie_Nobody I read that you need to presoak first before you use it, but I haven't tried it yet.
Yes, I have but I like peat moss better
Hi mdm .. may i know what did u spray on the semi~round mould bfor applying the hypertufa mixture? TiA
She used a Baking Spray like Bakers Secret.
would be better if you showed us how ?????
thank you, just want to ask the ratio of them
Ratio is one part Portland cement, one part peat moss, one part perlite or vermiculite.
thanks for the instruction. just an fyi, bird bath's should never be that deep...the birds could drown in them-- they should be a **max** of 2" deep
I want to make a pot that will disintegrate after one month of constant water contact
Then don’t make hypertufa cause that will hang around for years.
@@sazji There has to be a cementitious material which does break down to use as the binder

Hate to tell you but the mask didn't work against covid particles nor does it work against cement.
Otherwise good video learned a lot.
Lol they don't work with sawdust either. Saving my pennies for the Versaflow by 3M
Well, the not so "great" "dr." fauX-ci said TWO masks are better than one. lol
Did you just say thank god for covert????
😂😂😂
Did she say “thank God for CoVid”..??
The mixture was way to sloppy
At 3:26 She says "thank God for Covid" in reference to the mask she's putting on. That was when I had to quit watching.

sound is terrible, barely audible
Why would you bother to make something that looks like rubbish? Kind of looks like a mud pie small children make at kindy!
