For any one who says CGI effects in films is easy. Just remember that the first computers they try to animate devastator from revenge of the fallen on all combusted trying to render him
@@NovexusNui777 Mine is that Bay made TJ Miller's character in AOE die horribly because Miller was such a pain in the ass during production, so he killed his character like that out of spite. I still laugh at how petty it is.
Despite what the fan base wants you to believe the 2007 film did more good than harm, the movie revolutionised the transformers franchise by introducing new concepts that would later be staples in the franchise, like introducing the Allspark, bringing Bumblebee back to the spotlight, and bringing back Peter Cullen to reprise Optimus Prime
I was 11 when the first movie came out. Without it I would not have watched the G1 cartoons or the 86 Movie or Armada or Energon or read the IDW comics, I could go on and on but the point is, if it wasn't for Michael Bay I would not be the die hard fan I am today.
yeah the sequels did good but also harm like none would know or care who the fallen is without rotf and dotm pretty much started the whole sentinel prime is a corrupt leader thing even though tf animated did it first ultimately the bayformers movie are great if you ignore the writing and dialogue dont worry im sure they are not important
I still stand by the fact that the first 2007 Transformers movie was actually a pretty damn good movie and it even got Optimus’ character right first and foremost.
This is something I can agree with. 👍 👍 The 1st movie has some cool bot designs, Blackout and Ironhide really look amazing. I don't HATE Optimus' design, but something about it just doesn't look right. That's not to take away from the fun ride I had watching my favorite robots in live action. Once you get past the stupid humor, (Lubricating??!!) There's a lot of fun here. "Da WHOLE plate!!'😂😂
Being a bayformer fan in the TF community does kinda suck because it feels like you almost can’t like the movies or search up anything about the movies without everyone bashing those said movies, so seeing interesting videos about the bay movies like cool info and theories is kinda hard to do because all you ever find is other TF fans bashing the movies, even when looking at videos about any TF media and shows that has nothing to do with the movies. I’m grateful to have any UA-camrs that do talk about the movies that isn’t just “the bay movies bad” such as trantheories, even though it seems hard to find any UA-camr that actually like the movies or talk interesting stuff about the movies that’s again not just “the movies are bad” and now I’m seeing people say ROTB will be like the bay films too.
Bro lmao i saw the first movie like 2 years ago and i liked it alot and i was so confused and disappointed when i found yt reviews that were saying that its bad
It was AWFUL growing up loving these movies. One couldn’t even look up anything transformers related without the comments bashing bayformers in order to get some likes.
Nah there is nothing to fear there is no way you can like them that much it's not like you made a one hour masterpiece that fixed a lot of their problems and gave them an amazing conclusion
didnt expect to find you here, btw "Finest Hour" was such a good ending for the Bayverse. You and everyone who worked on it, did such a great job because of the love of passion for the previous films
Not only do I love these films, they gave me something no other franchise has done so well. They really got my best friend to start to really like Transformers. I also like how proud Bay is to have gotten a whole new group of people, a new generation. When I first watched the 2007 movie I fell in love. I knew these characters from G1, and was happy to have unique, new versions of my favourite bots, Optimus, Ratchet, Starscream, all on the big screen. Without these movies, I would’ve never watched Prime, Animated, Armada, the 86 movie, and even Cyberverse. I wouldn’t have gotten to know the wonderful group of people that love this franchise, from my friend that just started watching G1, to bigger UA-camrs like Diamondbolt, PerspectiveEnd, Emperor Kumquat, Theorymus, and Paper Plane. Dispute not being the best person on the planet, the entire team behind these movies, actors, voice actors, Bay, the CGI animators and artists, and even the entire US military all worked together to bring Transformers back to the mainstream in a big way. For the sake of this whole fandom, I hope Rise of the Beasts brings myself, and new fans across the world, the same joy that Dark of the Moon did.
I want you all to prove your arguments in why you think it's okay to consider bayformers transformers and convince me why you're a good person and not some selfish narcissist that needs attention to exist get off social media touch grass Bayformers is not and never will be transformers.
@As Pooped By Anakin Skywalker Holy shit I would had never thought I would had seen a Twitter AND a reddit user hybrid throwing shit at some random guy who is happy
Same here bro, I used to be the only freind in my circles that liked it till 07 came out, all of a sudden there’s people with Brawl, Stockade, Dropkick etc to fight my 2nd form Bumblebee lol
@aidanshowers8366, I’m in the same boat. I used to not like it but I’ve grown to like it, I liked Lennox’s return and 2007-2011 musical motifs returning. Plot is iffy but my biggest gripe is the underuse of Optimus and his easy corruption and his even easier return to heroism
The last night was terrible. The autobots acted like children, fighting all the time the Deceptacon‘s were robbing banks, for whatever reason hound died, but then he wasn’t dead. Megatron was negotiating with humans, because that is a very Megatron and overall the story made zero sense
For me that was age of extinction, genuinely one of the worst movies & acting I’ve seen in my life. TLK had some familiar faces so it was acceptable. AOE was just horrible
I'm not personally a huge fan, but I don't hate them, the haters quite literally just want something to hate. Or crazy G1 fanboys gatekeeping. Best to ignore them if you can.
@@metal_fusion The reboot is trash. I'm not hyped for rise of the beasts. I was at least hyped for bb movie and that was a disappointment. Bayverse on top
Having to see those types of people’s opinions growing up as a kid who just wanted to enjoy what I loved was not fun. I’m glad people are coming around but I wish this attitude was more vocal before everything was cancelled.
@@xshxr I don't, I'm saying you don't have to come into a comment section like this and be a dick to everyone trying to be positive about his movies. It just makes you seem immature.
I'm heavily nostalgic towards the first 3 movies. As someone who was introduced to the series thanks to Cybertron, the first Bayformers film had me hyped because the concept of a live-action Optimus Prime made me nut my 8-year-old pants. Even if they have issues, I still have a good amount of respect for the Bayformers trilogy. Now AOE and TLK, absolute dogwater, and very little positives I could point out.
Couldn’t agree more. I’m glad Bumblebee managed to pick things back up after the absolute disasters that were AOE and TLK, I just hope ROTB keeps that momentum going and isn’t a total train wreck.
@@xshxr exactly what were the racist and sexist jokes? If you think the jokes weren't funny, okay thats your preference. its writing is decent at best and has enjoyable moments.
I have loved these since i was a child, my mind was blown by the cgi and just how realistic it looks. I'm glad that everyone is starting to see them as i do.
This is genuinely one of the best video essays I've ever seen on UA-cam about anything! This is some of the most objective and subjective look at the Transformers movies yet! Yes, we've all heard and we all know the flaws and shortcomings these movies have. It's all been said over and over and over again... But to have something new to say about these decade old movies and for it to come from such a genuine and authentic place is so eye opening to me. I grew up with the Michael Bay Transformers movies and if it wasn't for them I would've never become a fan of the franchise. As I grew up, I saw that the fanbase HATED these movies, calling them stupid, racist, dumb, NOT good Transformers movies yada-yada-yada... I was heartbroken! I was heartbroken that the same people who call themselves fans disliked the movies that made ME a fan. I started hating on them as well, I started seeing the flaws, started to really dislike the thing that made me love in the first place. I started watching the "REAL" Transformers media that "REAL" fans watched and loved. I liked them for the most part (G1, the 86 movie, Beast Wars) and I genuinely enjoyed them, believing that this is what Transformers is actually about. Now as I grew even older and finally got a grasp on how movies are made and how extremely difficult it is and more so creatively speaking, I think Michael Bay gave it his all! Yes, he wasn't "THE GUY" for the Transformers franchise, but these movies? These movies are his BABIES and he loves them very very much! He looked after them, he nurtured them, he LOVED them! And to know that his passion and love touched me on an emotional level when I was yonger and didn't know a lot about anything, just goes to show that he did something RIGHT!
Aside from the all of their flaws, the one thing bayformers always gets right is the fucking music. By far the most underrated thing in cinema history. If I was the director for endgame and infinity war, I would have swapped out their entire score for the dotm soundtrack
I recently rewatched the first three movies after like 13 years form when I first watched them as a 5 year old and I'm ashamed to admit that I enjoyed them in a strange way. It might be nostalgia, but I was solidly entertained by the weird, juvenile and ridiculous over the top energy of both the action scenes and the human dialouge with some ironic enjoyment sprinkled in. Like I know they aren't high art and when I was enjoying myself watching the universally panned second one, it made me question myself if I'm plain stupid or have bad taste. Related to this when I was talking to a friend about recent movies we watched, me mentioning Dark of The Moon made me feel legitimately embarrassed. I'm glad that I now came to peace with enjoying low art turn your brain off movies and that I'm not the only one. Also they're pretty quotable and it's worth noting that when they came out, they introduced a new generation to the franchise wich included me, so that's something. Hope this brick of words from a foreign person is readable. In the end good video.
Totally readable, and relatable. I'm so glad to just see a new generation exposed to this amazing franchise. I was 7 years old when the 86 movie came out, and everyone I knew was hooked on Transformers. It's was great to see it happening again amongst my kid and their friends.
Never understood the phrase "turn your brain off" movies. When I watch a movie especially in the theater I'm focused in on what's on screen I don't just turn my brain off. The people who say turn your brain off I don't think find these generalized films (blockbusters) as films worthy of paying attention in the theater. What's funny is sometimes you'll have people say certain elements or motivations for characters don't make sense and weren't explained. Then when you ask them if they actually watched the movie they'll respond "why would I have paid attention it's just mindless action." That's more suspect to me whose the ones turning their brains off then and what makes these kind of blockbusters unworthy of paying attention to vs other films that try and be dramas. It's as if only movies with people talking for most of it with drama or melodrama is worth paying attention to which is harmful to movies in my opinion.
Well, put man. But what I appreciated the most, is when you pointed out, not only how many practical effects the first three movies had, but that c.g.i. isn't even half the labor lacking cheat!
I've loved them ever since I watched the first one, and I will never stop loving them, sure they have a lot of problems and plot holes, but no matter what they will be one of my favorite franchises of all time.
This is such a w take and a great video. It preaches exactly what I've been trying to convey for years. It's okay to like something if you resonate with it since that's just how art works. Just because you dont like a certain creation or artwork doesn't mean everyone must hate it as well. Furthermore, it's okay to see the flaws in something but still enjoy it. A great example of this is cw's the Flash, a show I hold near and dear to my heart. Although I enjoy the show greatly, I find the criticisms of its inconsistent writing, valid, and somewhat interesting. These issues shouldn't have to take away from the art piece as a whole. The transformers series is a great example of this as well. The movies, without a shadow of a doubt, have a multitude of issues narratively, comically, so on and so forth, but that doesnt mean the art presented in the work as a whole is absolutely meaningless. Great video. Take my subscription.
Haha, yeah, that is why even the bad ones are still great. The movie around them may not be great, but live action Dinobots are just awesome on the screen.
I've always had a soft spot for the Micheal Bay films, I've been super nostalgic for them, and I still remember them to this day. As someone who experienced the 2010's, these movies were basically my intoduction to Transofrmers as a whole. Even though I'm not much of a Transformer guy anymore and I've shifted to new hobies and interests, I will never forget these movies. I have all of the films on DVD (Except for the BumbleBee movie, although Micheal Bay didn't direct that one if I remember correctly), and It's so I still have them on me. I'm mainly talking about the first three of Bayformer, since Those are the ones I mainly remember. Even then, I remember when AOE and TLK were brand new. I used to own some TLK shirts when I was younger. (Only one I specifically remember is an obvious "optimistic" pun). I remember being obsessed with Transformers made Lego around that time. (of course I DO own the Optimus lego set) For some reason, despite the hate for ROTF, I remember actually liking ROTF. In fact, dare I say, I remember it being my favorite of all the Bay films. While I understand if anyone is more nostalgic for the G1 era, these movies were part of my young childhood, and they remain in my memories.
The making of these movies are amazing like as someone who didn’t like phase 4 of marvel most of the time at least I still watch the behind the scenes and I appreciate all of the work they make for theses movies and shows even if I don’t like them at all I can’t bring myself to hate them like a lot of others cause you can tell they put heart into them and the making of them puts a whole new perspective into them especially hearing about design the hero’s and cgi and practical effects of all of it these movies deserve to be considered how heart and hard work was put into them at least before saying it’s all terrible and stupid
I defend all of them except for The Last Knight. They are guilty pleasures, but the first one came out in the same year that my son was born. So the Bay-formers was a bonding experience between me and my son.
These movies are kind of like junk food to me. For the most part they’re bad and unhealthy, but at the same time they are very nostalgic and kind of fun to me. While they ain’t perfect, that I know very much, but I really do look fondly at them from time to time.
I do love the bay verse movies, I will put them on as backround noise or something and get caught up in it because of how good the action is. And it always has me coming back for more
For everyone curious, a youtuber called Pointlesshub is making a review series where he reviews the Bayverse. It's a pretty entertaining review series and it feels fair to the Bayverse, both in its highs and in its lows.
Conceptually, yes. You can like the Bay films. But if I hear another Bay fan trying to ruin stuff because they love Bay so much, then I'm going to flip.
@@benjamingomez1761 and yet Geewuners are the ones who bully anyone who likes TFP over G1 while us Bayverse fans praise TFP doesn’t sound like we’re on the same coin unlike Geewuners we appreciate change
These movies and Transformers Animated were my childhood. The first three movies are good, (yes even ROTF imo, I remember loving it as a kid) AoE is okay and TLK made me braindead. But the first three hold a special place in my heart.
One of the biggest things I loved about the Bayfilms is the crazy, outlandish and alien designs of the Transformers. When I was a kid, it caught my attention immediately because I loved (still do) aliens and humanoid aliens with distinct, mysterious cultures. I remember watching the Bayverse Transformers and completely teleporting to a different world, even if it made me very paranoid as a kid that a car on the road would randomly transform and blow something up. A big part of what did that is the crazy loud designs despite not being super colorful even though a lot of people don't like them. Some of my favorite designs are some of the most hated designs too, like the flying dorito, the unicycle robot women and robot Einstein. They're exciting and interesting. Over the years, I've come to love them more and more especially as the fandom moves towards this Return to G1 which gave me near immediate burnout when I knew what to expect. Even with RotB, there's only a few Transformers that I really want to see but I'm sure they won't get a lot of screen time, Pablo, Nightbird, Battletrap and Scourge are really the only ones I'm really curious about and/or want to see. When it comes to the live action, I have and always will love the first three Bayfilms. Anything after that, Bumblebee included, hasn't really done it for me since
It was the first movie that introduced me to the Transformers as a kid. The Bayverse movies are really nostalgic to me as those were my favorite movies growing up. The visuals, the soundtrack, the characters, the action, and especially the toyline all got me into the wider Transformers franchise as a whole. Might have also influced me a lot, the Camaro became my dream car cause of the movie. Fast forward to now, I know now that these movies aren't perfect, and some might honestly not be that great (Last Knight being an example), but I still do love the movies, especially the original 3, and can't help but enjoy the movies and watch them whenever I get the chance.
Thank you for putting out there that people shouldn’t be bullied for liking these movies or seen as stupid. I know many people my age could relate to this when they were younger but telling people they were into transformers was always such a hard thing to do and often was just looked down upon or childish. I recall making the unfortunate mistake of telling fellow classmates about my transformers review channel in middle school and that’s when bullying started. And yet oddly enough through all of that, I just kept moving along and making videos and enjoying the franchise I loved because the community around it was always as eager as me to share their excitement for it. I think that says a lot about how much these people cared, and how it inspired them to push forward despite what others may think.:.
I’ll give bayverse transformers massive props for getting me into the franchise in the first place. Some of my earliest memories as a 5 yr old who learned how to pop a disc into the DVD player were watching tf 1 back to back with narnia. that love continued with tf prime and with every tf movie installment. Anyway I’m trans now
A plus that these films have is being consistent in the robot mode designs with changes happening when the story deemed it necessary. which is a thing that knight verse does not do.
Gonna just paste this comment I made on a video about Bayverse Optimus because I feel it's relevant here: 'Yeeaaah, G1 fans can cry about his characterization all they want- I cry about it a lot too -but the fact of the matter is, it's thanks to this guy that Transformers got so much life breathed into it's mainstream presence. War for Cybertron, Fall of Cybertron, Prime, Bumblebee, Devastation, all the stuff that's come out in recent years that Transformers fans love? Yeah, we have Murder Prime to thank for it. Watching Optimus shred Deceptions in a summer block busting trilogy is what reignited the average joe's interest in Transformers, not Able Lincoln Optimus preaching about peace and playing basket ball. (Stuff that I love, don't get me wrong) People saw Bay's Optimus and went "Damn, this Transformers stuff is pretty cool. Let's invest our time, interest and money into it". The guy deserves respect for that much, mane.' In addition, I'll also add to it by saying that the first Michael Bay Transformers movie was genuinely a good film. Not perfect, but more earnest and source-accurate than people give it credit for. It even has a decent score on Metacritic. It had incredible FX for the time that still hold up now, a fun and terrifying take on Decepticons- That admittedly got stale as more and more sequels got shat out -and a *very* accurate interpretation of Optimus Prime who put peace first unless humans were in danger. The franchise didn't go down hill until the sequels, starting with Revenge of the Fallen. If you hate the first one... I think you need to tone down the nostalgia bias and give it another chance, man. If you disagree tho, you disagree. I'm not trynna pick any fights here, I swear.
And that's a truth I don't think people are willing to, or ready to hear. It brought the franchise to a huge audience, and honestly the Cybertron games wouldn't be the way they are if not for the first three films.
Always defended the first three, and continue to do so. The guy had passion, and actually done something new and interesting with a small little franchise, that prepelled it into worldwide fame!
I liked the first three transformers movies and I wish that it ended after dark of the moon. I kinda wish the original ending for the third movie wasn’t rewritten.
That would be horrible why would you truce with someone who played a major part in your planet and entire populations, generations etc. downfall? It just does not end like that. Eons of battles of both sides trying to stop the opposite and their leader, only to be let down by a truce between said leaders that could have happened long ago and saved the entire planet from doom. You will never walk away from that. Also 4 and 5 > 3
Name me one franchise that has a combination of these 17 things: Amazing action sequences, aesthetically pleasing sci-fi elements, funny comedy, hot sex appeal, attractive looking cars that can go fast, a large scale, amazing sound design, amazing visual design, nice songs and scores in its soundtracks, genre blending versatility on top of the action sci-fi elements, Transformers elements, characters with strong, unique, entertaining personalities that were sometimes relatable, emotional moments, romance factor, real life elements incorporated into their lore or just realism in general, high stakes and layered storytelling I love all 5 Bayformers films and I don't think any other movies comes close and I'm not apologizing for that, it hurts being in the minority but that wouldn't stop me from fighting for my love for these films against these cynics, much love to Michael Bay and everyone involved in the franchise, the fans, and this video, hope to see more love given to these movies in the future, they deserve it with all the ambition put into these films
Man, I'm so with you. I know they are critically not the best movies ever but the Bay Transformer movies is a franchise that I can never get tired of. The human characters ,comedy, the action, effects, scale, sound design, the glossy way it's shot just gets me. In fact I just love Bay as a visual director. To me the bumble movie is boring compared to the energy I get from watching Bay's Transformers. I wish he would direct more instead of produce. Oh and the music in those movies from Steve Jablonsky is underrated.
@@brealll9647 It's a shame we're in the extreme minority, even Bay himself has succumbed to the consensus and let other people direct as he believes they might understand what the people want more while he just takes the producer role, these movies check off all these boxes more than any other movies can
Every critic (especially on UA-cam) acts like they only have the highest and most exquisite taste in film, but the fact is people can enjoy action films with big explosions, impressive CGI that holds up after all these years, and practical effects that could've EASILY been done in a CGI sound set and most likely would have if these were made today (not a dig against ROTB, I'm excited for that movie, and I can't wait to see it). But for people to act like these are a sin against cinema, or that this hurts the Transformers franchise... clearly not true. These movies made billions of dollars, it revitalized the Transformers franchise when it was at its lowest point, and breathed new life into it, as well as bringing in so many new fans. They aren't perfect, I agree, and I'm not saying you can't criticize them or say why you personally dislike them, and Bay is not the ultimate TF fan, but at the same time, he still gave us thrill-rides to watch in theaters every few Summers, and to this day has inspired many new fans with their stop motion series to make their own stories, whether based on the film continuity, or just their own thing. And they're growing up to become filmmakers, who may very well make their own films for us to see in theaters one day. Maybe future Transformers filmmakers.
I liked RiD 2015. It was my first transformers show. So I understand why some people form a special attachment to the movies if they have seen them the first
This is actually the one i grew up with. I really dont know why people loved the Gen 1 designs. I really liked the bayformers design, especially soundwave
Of course, I love bayformers personally, except last knight of course. That movie frazzled my brain so damn much in terms of continuity it turned itself into a smelting pool of its own
i love bayformer transformers, the first one he made was the first time i was introduced to robots, see those big ass robot’s compared to Sam and Mikaela blew my little mind, the first movie will always have a soft spot in my heart, i didn’t like the second one that much but i enjoyed the fighting scenes as a kid a lot, same with dotm, the last hour of that movie was insane and I loved it as a child, and when age of extinction came out i was excited because i just loved transformers, and i watched the last knigbt and i wouldnt say i enjoyed but the first time watching it still gave me that childlike feeling of transformers 2007, i cant really ever see myself bashing these movies, i guess im a little bias
Here what I think about each film. 2007: Okay ROTF: A guilty pleasure. DOTM: A good ending for the og trilogy. AOE: Pretty Good just has some missed potential. TLK: WTF!?
I believe the general consisence is most like the first 3. A decent following for the 4th and everyone hates the 5th. And Bumblebee was a great step in the right direction just too small in scale but thats ok since it helped correct the mess of the 5th.
Thank you for making this video! The bayverse was the introduction to this franchise! Sure sometimes robot get a little screentime and so on. But even as a kid, I don't really care, I just liked the explosion, the actions, and more! I especially loved how Optimus fucking murder decepticons with no remorss. Without theese movies , I will never ever know many about Transformers like shows, games, etc. Hopefully, ROTB can revive this movie franchise in an awesome way!
I WILL ADMIT I LOVE THE “BAYFORMERS” Too!!!! But no seriously I LOVE TRANSFORMERS THEY MEAN ALOT TO ME EVEN WHEN I WAS LITTLE!!! This is a franchise I have been completely invested not only by the toys but the franchise was so interesting! A very cool premise in my opinion, but then 2007 came along and Transformers got its first live action movie!!!! I ABSOLUTELY STILL LOVE TRANSFORMERS (2007), it’s so NOSTALGIC!!!! CGI STILL HOLDS UP 16 YEARS LATER, SOUNDTRACK IS STILL AMAZING!!!!!! I actually had the chance to see this movie in theaters last year to celebrate its 15th anniversary and had a really good time!!!! Enjoying every moment!!!!! 2 is ok, LOVE THE INTRO SHANGHAI BATTLE SEQUENCE, FOREST BATTLE IS AMAZING, DEVASTATOR COMBINING ( minus the adult joke in that like really… was that necessary) 3 IS AMAZING!!!! 4 IS OK, DINOBOTS ALL THE WAY!!!!!! 5 is terrible Bumblebee restored my faith to the Transformers franchise, G1!!!!!!
What i love is how alien the transformers in the movies are, and how the Decepticons and Autobots distinguish themselves based on their ideologies. Ofc the decepticons have unreadable, insectoid and even horrifying faces, because thats what they are and they dont care to hide their true selves, unlike the Autobots, who changed their faces to look humanoid and assimilate themselves with human culture to show that they are not here to harm us. Only when they were threatening humans would they speak English (except Nitro zeus, who wants Enriques wife to know he says hi), while the Autobots never spoke cybertronian while on screen. They have tattoos, which implies art and creativity on Cybertron, smth we dont see a lot in most transformers media that isnt the comics. I just love it all, dont get me started on how all the minicons with the Decepticons are clearly much more appreciated than the ones with the Autobots, and also how ravage is a giant 7 ft kitty i-
While the Bayverse movies legitimately have awful stuff such as how they treat the female characters and…the less said about the twins, the better, they do have great stuff such as the visual effects, characters such as Crosshairs and Hound, the action sequences, and characters such as Optimus shows that there’s legitimately great stories buried underneath the garbage. It’s been a mixed bag for me when it comes to these movies, but it doesn’t mean I’m gonna diss people who genuinely like these movies. 🤷🏽♀️ Maybe in another universe with better writing and more cohesion of the stories, these movies could’ve been more. 😔
Bayformers is genuinely one of the most entertaining franchises I've seen. Not good, or well-written, or even decent. But God damn is it fun to watch giant robots tear each other limb from limb while everything around them explodes as if there's TNT built into the streets. The utterly impeccable CGI helps with that.
I love TF1 and TF3. They are just fun to watch. And i knew how awesome the practical effects and stunts are but goddamn alot of this video is making me go "THAT WAS REAL?!?!". lol
I absolutely hate 3 personally, despite being a huge fan of all the others, but I'm glad you enjoyed it. The falling skyscraper and Starscream getting his head 'sploded were the only parts I enjoyed, so at least we agree there.
This is probably the first time I've heard Michael Bay speak. No hate towards him, but I honestly didn't think he'd sound like that, he's more nasally than I expected.
The hardest part for me is to tell others that I like all of the first 4 bayformers movies more than the bumblebee movie, just find them more entertaining
I have never seen any of the transformers movie’s until a few weeks ago when I decided to watch all of five of them in a row and I actually really liked them
Dude I swear that day we watched that featurette on discord was a rough script for this video!!! I owe my channel, my collection, my channel, friendships, discovery of g1, everything to the bayverse. People need to get out with the “oh they suck” no. They have problems. If you read idw it makes you enjoy the movies wayyyyy more. One of these days I’m gonna break that down on my channel one day Dark of the moon is a genuinely good film and I will defend it endlessly. Awesome video. Gets me right here❤
for a long time, I had these thoughts that, if a movie didn't have any good morals, or themes, the movie is just terrible without any redeeming quality's but when I allowed myself to shut my brain off for some hours, I imminently love these kind of movies again, not every movie needs to be a "visual representation of x,y or z, some times its alright to shut ur brain off and enjoy stupid stuff. I think many yt movie critics are having a bad habit of just looking "objectively" and therefore can coming across looking down at people who genuinely like movies like Transformers....
3:15 This is why I watch bonus features before and after movies. I want to see the dedication out into the film and how much the actors and crew enjoyed doing their job. Are they miserable, are they having fun, is the reunion fun for the og actors? I can never bring myself to hate movies because of the bonus features showing me how much love they put into it. It’s why I can never really hate any movie shown to me. Except for Twilight and Wish, those movies can burn in hell.
My favourite was always the first one. Third has good battles, 2 has sideswipe. And that's it for me Now, the whole deconstruction of the dotm skyscraper scene gave me a new love for that scene
As massive massive Transformers fan that grew up with the Michael Bay TF movies and who is tired of only ever seeing hate for my most favorite movies from my childhood, I am very skeptical if I will like this video from hearing you start out saying these movies are worst movies ever made. Edit: Okay so I finished the video, and the first thing I'd like to say is thank you. Thank you so much PaperPlane for making this video. I will admit that I am heavily biased towards the Michael Bay TF movies, and most likely blinded by my nostalgia to some extent, but I have always genuinely loved all these movies, and they changed my whole life. For just over 10 years starting back when I was 7 in 2007 I was at my grandparent's house, my Grandpa asked if I wanted to watch any movies he had. The first live-action Transformers movie had recently come out on DVD, and my Grandpa told me about it. It sounded very cool and interesting so I agreed to watch it. This was my first time learning about what Transformers even were, and after watching this movie, they instantly became the coolest, and most fascinating thing I had ever seen, and my most favorite thing ever in life. This did not change for over 10 years. I loved Transformers so much, that for just about every single birthday and Christmas, the only things I ever wanted were new Transformers figures. Very occasionally I'd want something else like a Transformers video game, but It was very rare that I was interested in something that was not Transformers related. After watching that scene where all the Autobots first arrived on Earth and I see Optimus Prime transform for the first time, and hear his voice, Peter Cullen's voice say for the first time "Are you Samuel James Witwicky, descendant of Captain Achibald Witwicky? My name is Optimus Prime. We are autonomous robotic organisms from the planet Cybertron." I had fell in love. From that moment on Bay's TF movie Optimus Prime had become my most favorite character ever. And throughout those 10 years, as much as I loved these movies, rewatching all of them at least dozens, but some of them close to or maybe even over 100 times, I had encountered so much hate online. I've had many arguments with people about how amazing these movies are to me for years and often felt like I was one of the only few people who loved the movies. I felt kind of isolated, and maybe a little depressed sometimes, but I eventually learned to just ignore all those people who hate the movies, and only ever say bad, or often extremely vulgar and hateful things about them. As I have gotten older, I have absolutely started to notice hundreds of flaws in all of the movies that have slowly made me like them a little less over time. I myself have become hypercritical of almost everything I watch now, but I always try to watch everything with an open mind and have the appropriate mindset for whatever I watch. Even when I am critical of some media I consume, I always try and focus on what's good about it. Something has to be exceptionally bad in my eyes for me not to see anything good about what I watch. With the way this video started out in the first 1:20, I was getting the vibe that this would be another video just hating on the movies and ignoring all the good things about them, but looking at the title I was guessing there's no way this whole video is just another hate video, and I am so happy that guess is correct. You pointed out so many reasons why I still love these movies to this day, and what I miss when watching a lot of new movies. There is a loss in the magic you feel in many movies today that do everything entirely in CGI compared to how real everything feels in the TF movies with how so much of what they do is using real practical effects, doing real stunts, at real locations, and seamlessly combining all of that with CGI. I think the UA-cam channel B Boundless Entertainment's videos on this topic perfectly explains why I always thought the TF movies always felt so much more real than most other movies I watched. It makes me so happy to hear how honest you are with how initially blindly hated the movies for years, but now you've actually gone back to watch them and actually pay attention to what's going on. I have always been baffled by people always saying that "These movies are pure garbage." and other things like "You can't even tell what's going on." or the worst I've heard is "The fight scenes look like just two junkyards smashing together." Hearing all this hate for so many years has really made me hate a small part of the TF community, and this video is a breath of fresh air. I do completely agree with and relate to you thinking there are too many human scenes in the Michael Bay TF movies as a child though. This is one of the biggest criticisms I still have of the movies today. There are definitely many others in regard to things related to the plot, or how little screen time some of the Transformers characters get, or how Decepticons started to become fodder for the Autobots, and even the humans in the sequels. All of these things and more are completely valid criticisms, but I have never overshadowed all the many things I find so amazing things about the movies. So once again, thank you so much for making this video PaperPlane. I may not agree with everything you've said, but this is still such a great video. I hope to see more videos like yours where people actually analyze why the TF movies are good or bad, without blindly hating on them. I hope you and everyone have a great day or night. Thanks for reading.
I saw several trailers for these movies, and they peaked my interest of this concept of mechanical robots turning into trucks, planes, dinosaurs, and more. Eventually, I watched the G1 movie and became enthralled. I’m currently watching G1, and I do admit, these movies are the only reason I discovered Transformers.
Honestly I love these movies and always have. They may not be G1 accurate, storyline may fall apart a bit but I still enjoyed them. The designs, the detail of each bot, the battles! Love them all. I love the stories aswell, the later films still have good stories on their own.
Yeah, I love the Michael Bay Transformers movies, but I actually do agree. There is one there is 1 thing that I fear about the Transformers. Movies are being bad movies. Cause that really scares me a lot. Because I love Transformers much as I like Pacific Rim. Or other robot movies.
People who complain about the cgi in Transformers confuse me. For 2007 and in general...Transformers has the best integration of CGI model interaction with humans/real world objects of any movie i've ever seen lol
They're good movies with bad stories but great vibes to the characters and story to give them that mainstream Hollywood appeal. Not what I look for in transformers movies, or transformers stories and characters in general, but they certainly made Transformers at least be a bigger known franchise. It's a lot like what people view as the worst of Snyderverse, movies that conflict with what the fanbase want for their own ideal movie franchise over time once the honeymoon period is down. But the engagement and craft to those movies are PEAK.
Honestly I've always felt nostalgic for the Bayformers films (but I wouldn't call it the best Transformers content--that would go to TFA). It wasn't always a hit, but when it was, it was ON POINT. I also think the spectacle--at least in the first 3 films anyways--was always masterfully done and sure, the designs weren't the greatest, but hot DAMN did the CGI look good. There's just a lot of shots in the Transformers films that look like absolute eye candy (the car shots were what made me absolutely love vehicle modes for the Transformers). And again, action scenes were fire. The forest battle in 2, Chicago in 3, Mission City in 1--they were stellar. (Also the first film shared so much with Animated and that was so FUCKING COOL. Transformers continuities where the Autobots are portrayed as underdogs and more like civilians against Military is cool as hell)
@@xshxr you're trying so hard and it's funny, positivity and there just *has* to be that one hating gate keeper. You people are the cancer of this fandom
I got a DVD of the first transformers film. Watching the behind the scenes was like seeing the Burj Khalifa of filmmaking as a kid to the point where I literally got curious if an actor died on set because of how dangerous the practical effects were. I think I have never seen an action movie that can compete to it besides John Wick. And in that last portion, Michael bay was right. I rewatched the first two (Soon i'll rewatch 3 and 4) as an adult. And damn do they still make me smile regardless of both critic and youtube hate the sequels received! Not to mention being the sole movie series responsible for brining back Transformers from dying obscurity. I don't know if I would ever watch transformers armada or animated series because studio execs never gave a greenlight to make the film. I don't know if I'll ever buy an action figure of both optimus and megatron as a kid. Heck call this conspiratiorial connection. But this movie series seems to have born my favoritism of really obscure characters. Like Braw/Devastator (The tank, not the construction abomination with wrecking balls for testes) and Blackout. And countless unpopular characters outside transformers media
I genuinely really like the 2007 movie. And while I don’t like the others, they still have great scenes, like Prime vs Megatron, Starscream, and Grindor, and as you said, the building scene from DotM.
For any one who says CGI effects in films is easy. Just remember that the first computers they try to animate devastator from revenge of the fallen on all combusted trying to render him
I think they used multiple computers to process each body part separately…
That shit was my favorite fun fact because I just started wheezing uncontrollably.

Despite what the fan base wants you to believe
the 2007 film did more good than harm, the movie revolutionised the transformers franchise by introducing new concepts that would later be staples in the franchise, like introducing the Allspark, bringing Bumblebee back to the spotlight, and bringing back Peter Cullen to reprise Optimus Prime
And took aspects from every transformers series preceding it and not just g1
I was 11 when the first movie came out. Without it I would not have watched the G1 cartoons or the 86 Movie or Armada or Energon or read the IDW comics, I could go on and on but the point is, if it wasn't for Michael Bay I would not be the die hard fan I am today.
yeah the sequels did good but also harm like none would know or care who the fallen is without rotf and dotm pretty much started the whole sentinel prime is a corrupt leader thing even though tf animated did it first ultimately the bayformers movie are great if you ignore the writing and dialogue dont worry im sure they are not important
The issue is it got dumb quick and they didnt give a fuck about telling a coherent story
The 07 film was not the origin of the Allspark. That was Beast Wars.
Yeah, it's an objectively good movie.
I heavily agree, it went downhill after that
Tf1 is the best sci fi movie of all time
It absolutely didn't, but it was still entertaining

Same for liking the Sequel trilogy of Star Wars
It's the sad truth
I can almost never find anything movie related without some angry fans spitting all their hatred towards these movies...
I loved them all from the moment they were released. Fear me.

didnt expect to find you here, btw "Finest Hour" was such a good ending for the Bayverse. You and everyone who worked on it, did such a great job because of the love of passion for the previous films
The first trilogy is best! Aoe and Tlk aren’t even movies to be calling worthy
I hope so but I don't see it doing the same

Revenge of the fallen is way worse. At least the last knight was kind of funny.
The last night was terrible. The autobots acted like children, fighting all the time the Deceptacon‘s were robbing banks, for whatever reason hound died, but then he wasn’t dead. Megatron was negotiating with humans, because that is a very Megatron and overall the story made zero sense

Here’s the brutal truth Stories might be okay but Bay’s “Transformers are digitally Masterpiece”.
Underrated in many ways.

It’s like if family guy did transformers but it’s official
Nah it had nothing to do with you being stupid or with bad taste, these movies are generally hood
Then when you ask them if they actually watched the movie they'll respond "why would I have paid attention it's just mindless action."
That's more suspect to me whose the ones turning their brains off then and what makes these kind of blockbusters unworthy of paying attention to vs other films that try and be dramas.
Great video! I loved your description of the skyscraper scene and how you narrate things XD
I see you've taken the Michael BAYSED pill.
The reason i LOVED all 5 movies was alot simpler than anything you discussed; i love giant robots beating each other up. 🤷🏻♂️
Anyway I’m trans now
The designs and transformations will always be cool.
Dude reached Nirvana. No more words needed, wise words.
I grew up with bayformers, I love most of the designs, it was like my g1.
A plus that these films have is being consistent in the robot mode designs with changes happening when the story deemed it necessary. which is a thing that knight verse does not do.
9:28 “titanfall player of the group”
And I smiled
If it wasn’t for bayformers I wouldn’t be a transformers fan.
"If you attack either side, you are a dipshit"
That is so true!
Gonna just paste this comment I made on a video about Bayverse Optimus because I feel it's relevant here:
'Yeeaaah, G1 fans can cry about his characterization all they want- I cry about it a lot too -but the fact of the matter is, it's thanks to this guy that Transformers got so much life breathed into it's mainstream presence. The guy deserves respect for that much, mane.'
In addition, I'll also add to it by saying that the first Michael Bay Transformers movie was genuinely a good film.
I didn’t need you to tell me this plane. I’ve been gladly loving this shit since day one
Like it or not, they saved the franchise .
Heavily agree with what you said in the beginning. Watching the behind the scenes footage of ‘07 Transformers movie made me love it even more.
Also 4 and 5 > 3
Name me one franchise that has a combination of these 17 things: Amazing action sequences, aesthetically pleasing sci-fi elements, funny comedy, hot sex appeal, attractive looking cars that can go fast, a large scale, amazing sound design, amazing visual design, nice songs and scores in its soundtracks, genre blending versatility on top of the action sci-fi elements, Transformers elements, characters with strong, unique, entertaining personalities that were sometimes relatable, emotional moments, romance factor, real life elements incorporated into their lore or just realism in general, high stakes and layered storytelling
I love all 5 Bayformers films and I don't think any other movies comes close and I'm not apologizing for that, it hurts being in the minority but that wouldn't stop me from fighting for my love for these films against these cynics, much love to Michael Bay and everyone involved in the franchise, the fans, and this video, hope to see more love given to these movies in the future, they deserve it with all the ambition put into these films
Everyone has their own preferred flavor of cinematic junk food.
That movie frazzled my brain so damn much in terms of continuity it turned itself into a smelting pool of its own
Shia Labeouf holds that trilogy together really.
i love bayformer transformers, the first one he made was the first time i was introduced to robots, see those big ass robot’s compared to Sam and Mikaela blew my little mind, the first movie will always have a soft spot in my heart, i didn’t like the second one that much but i enjoyed the fighting scenes as a kid a lot, same with dotm, the last hour of that movie was insane and I loved it as a child, and when age of extinction came out i was excited because i just loved transformers, and i watched the last knigbt and i wouldnt say i enjoyed but the first time watching it still gave me that childlike feeling of transformers 2007, i cant really ever see myself bashing these movies, i guess im a little bias
Here what I think about each film.
2007: Okay
ROTF: A guilty pleasure.
2 is ok, LOVE THE INTRO SHANGHAI BATTLE SEQUENCE, FOREST BATTLE IS AMAZING, DEVASTATOR COMBINING ( minus the adult joke in that like really… was that necessary)
3 IS AMAZING!!!!
4 IS OK, DINOBOTS ALL THE WAY!!!!!!
5 is terrible
Bumblebee restored my faith to the Transformers franchise, G1!!!!!!
I just love it all, dont get me started on how all the minicons with the Decepticons are clearly much more appreciated than the ones with the Autobots, and also how ravage is a giant 7 ft kitty i-
I think the general consensus is that the first one is a good fun summer action movie. It even had great word-of-mouth during its release.
Maybe in another universe with better writing and more cohesion of the stories, these movies could’ve been more. 😔
That's not Hound. That's Bulkhead in a John Goodman mech.
i’m so glad to find someone who appreciates Crosshairs and Hound
Controversial opinion… I think the bayformers designs are actually super good… at least 1-3 where you could tell they actually transformed…
My alltime favorite film series is this and my favorite is the Last Knight.
You can never change my mind.
@genyakozlov1316 Please tell me you’re joking. Especially about the Starscream head thing.
This is probably the first time I've heard Michael Bay speak. No hate towards him, but I honestly didn't think he'd sound like that, he's more nasally than I expected.
“Appreciating and understanding people’s responses to art is the reason art exists” is the best way I’ve ever heard that put
They just hated Michael Bay's movies because thay are so perfect.
The hardest part for me is to tell others that I like all of the first 4 bayformers movies more than the bumblebee movie, just find them more entertaining
That's easy for me to say tho 😂 they are way better than bb movie individually
Gets me right here❤
The first 4 are all great
the thing i actually enjoy about the bay films is they actually feel like the original show
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, it's never okay to attack anyone for something they enjoy and love it.
for a long time, I had these thoughts that, if a movie didn't have any good morals, or themes, the movie is just terrible without any redeeming quality's but when I allowed myself to shut my brain off for some hours, I imminently love these kind of movies again, not every movie needs to be a "visual representation of x,y or z, some times its alright to shut ur brain off and enjoy stupid stuff. I think many yt movie critics are having a bad habit of just looking "objectively" and therefore can coming across looking down at people who genuinely like movies like Transformers....
The only reason why I watch Transformers and love it it because of the Autobots and Decepticons fighting
15:05 Finally someone says it
Dark of the Moon is one of my favourite pieces of Transformers media. I love it.
And that's it for me
Now, the whole deconstruction of the dotm skyscraper scene gave me a new love for that scene
These movies aren't bad at all, this coming from someone who studied these movies for 9 years
I saw several trailers for these movies, and they peaked my interest of this concept of mechanical robots turning into trucks, planes, dinosaurs, and more.
I have seen all these movies more than 3 times. Love all of them
People who complain about the cgi in Transformers confuse me. For 2007 and in general...Transformers has the best integration of CGI model interaction with humans/real world objects of any movie i've ever seen lol
Wait. So I won’t get flamed at the stakes if I like them
They're good movies with bad stories but great vibes to the characters and story to give them that mainstream Hollywood appeal.
The Bayverse brought back Bumblebee after being obscure for 20 years, not to mention it revitalized the TF fandom. Screw the haters!
@@xshxr I'm going to appreciate whatever water is in that glass.
Yes, why wouldn't it be okay to like a movie? Because what society says should dictate my tastes?
I genuinely really like the 2007 movie. And while I don’t like the others, they still have great scenes, like Prime vs Megatron, Starscream, and Grindor, and as you said, the building scene from DotM.
