This man entirely forgot to mention that Starscream becomes planet sized and tries to fight God in TF Cybertron
lmao true
to be fair to the person making these videos alot of those parts of the series were missed by most i had to stream the entire combiner wars and its following shows to my discord so people knew what the new netflix shows were refering to most had no idea about the entire 2nd half of the combiner series
... Didn't Galvatron fight Primus and win?
at 2:19:13 ... the perfect description of ALL the transformers movies.... together with all ruining around and yelling... Until the end.. full of more ruining around and yelling.. and shaky camera of course............... the best of this movies is always the hot female lead...... well at least until now.... in the last transformers movie... there aren't anymore hot female lead...
@@Ramdileo_sys Ah hell nah my man had a stroke writing this 💀💀💀
It was genuinely refreshing to hear such appreciation for the '07 movie, while still being able to acknwoledge its flaws. It's gotten so tiring hearing so many people tear into it and the movie franchise as a whole, and while I get the criticisms I'll still say the '07 movie is genuinely a fun watch every time.
As someone who doesn’t really like the Bay movies now it was nice hearing a positive perspective on it & brought me back to being a kid when they were popular
Right, shit gets old after a while
Having sat down and rewatched the first one a couple months ago for the first time since seeing it in theatres it's... genuinely somewhat sobering, because it actually has its share of genuinely fun, funny, and even charming moments (like, holy crap I forgot Sam started as an actual character)? The movie-verse is really something that started able to go one of two different ways, and unfortunately the stuff that needed to be worked on/pushed back instead became far more prevalent.
Transformers 07 certainly isn't a "good" movie, but neither is it a bad one.
@@danielm.5078 I think what caused the Bay movies to amp up the worse aspects was Kurtzman & Orci not being the writers past Revenge of the Fallen (and of course the writers strike that happened during that movies production). While neither of them have a great track record or reputation in the industry, judging from how good Prime was you can tell they care about telling a compelling story with the Transformers franchise, especially when compared to Age of Extinction & The Last Knight.
The 3 movies were ok but after was a bargain bin disaster. Revenge of the Fallen had no story arc with Dark of the Moon. They said Prime was the last of the Primes but Sentinel Prime still exists? WHAT?!!
I remember watching the 07 movie so clearly. Every seat was *packed*. My family literally had to sit in separate seats around the theater. People literally snuck into the theater and sat on the movie steps just to see the movie. No one cared. It's still one of my favorite movie experiences of all time, even though I watched it as a kid. I thank the 07 movie for introducing me to the transformers. Don't know if I would be a fan now without it.
Keep it alive and go see The new one coming out this June. "Transformers: rise of the Beast".
A lot of people think Transformers was popular before 2007 but it was very Niche. The 2007 Movie brought the franchise to the biggest popularity ever. No matter what you think about them, these movies were huge as hell.
“Even the mini bots have left me now” 😂
I was such a huge fan of Transformers Animated growing up
Animated, armada and the live action films were my intro to the franchise.
I remember being so upset that I was at a sleepover with my cousins when the pilot was airing, but it was all good cus even though neither of them liked transformers they put up with it and watched it air live with me. Good memories.
Animated is very nice. I will say when it was starting off, as a kid I didn't really enjoy the Autobots just fighting human or local problems. Now I kinda appreciate it as it would help build up weight to when they gotta fight the full Decepticon roster.
My childhood show🥲 alongside TF prime and rescue bots.
My childhood show🥲 alongside TF prime and rescue bots.
Your last video was one of the most comprehensive pieces of transformers lore on the internet, looking forward to watching this one all the way through as well!
It’s an anime, of course it’s gonna take 6 episodes to do ONE race💀
Transformers Animated and Transformers Prime really balanced good storytelling, humour, actual stakes and weight, and managed to appeal to both old fans and the kids that would become new fans.
@@ProfessorGoobinizerthey are the best
@@ProfessorGoobinizer if you say G1 or Armada is the best I’m going to bully you relentlessly
Im not even a fan of transformers, I'm just in awe of your ability to compile so much information so eloquently and make it entertaining, a fan of your craft , keep it up and wishing more and more success for your channel, it's up there with the best of the long form analysis channels genre 🙏🏾
As being born in 2004, the live action movies are my home. I LOVE all of them dearly as they hold a special place in my heart
As a 2000 baby, rewatching them in my adulthood definitely shows how flawed they are, but I still kinda love em.
Same, also 2004 kid
@@eccodreams I’m a 2006 kid but yeah they have their flaws, but I love them
Damn sucks for your childhood lmao. Bayformers is asscheeks. He killed the turtles too
@@ichigokurosaki1081 To be fair? Me and best friend actually enjoyed watching Micheal Bay's Tmnt as well
I remember going to see the 2007 movie on my birthday, me and my dad walked into that movie a little curious if it would be good or not. We walked out we both agreed it was a good movie, I begged my dad as soon as it comes out on DVD, we needed to get it. That was probably the best birthday present to have in July of 2007.
The Unicron trilogy was my introduction to Transformers. I even learned what the older fans felt like with armada when animated came out. Although I learned to like it.
Jesus man I refuse to watch other retrospectives cause yours are seriously detailed in depth and just well put together better than anyones like your mcu retrospective was insane spent a full day just relaxing and watching it
And he’s not complaining to fit in either
Wow I had no idea that no one liked energon as a kid growing up in early 2000s that was my favourite series
But I did watch all of G1 3 times at least as well
Agreed but I also grew up on g1 beast wars and the unicron trilogy I hadn't seen beast machines till after watching transformers 2
Same
same!! it surprised me so much to learn that people hate Energon. it's my favorite Transformers show.
I was going to say the same thing! I remembered the autobot race as soon as he mentioned it. I had a few toys but none were complete. Optimus missing 2 drones, Omega Supreme missing his head etc etc
Incredibly underrated channel, the amount of quality and information put into these videos are amazing.
Nothing beats boredom like watching Owen Wilson narrate the entire history of the Transformers franchise.
Love seeing animated getting the praise it deserves.
I appreciate beast wars and animated for trying something new with the franchise even if g1 fans disliked both shows.
@@justinarzola4584 I grew up with G1, and TF Animated was fantastic! Loved all the G1 nods in it.
Cybertron was my childhood! seeing that segment was so nostalgic
I love that you actually gave some context by starting off talking about the 90’s-2k’s tf series
Sadly, Sept. 11th changed the status quo for Robots In Disguise. I also remember my brother recording this for me, because I was elsewhere. I still appreciated that he did that for me, without even asking what was in it for him. I went back and watched the DVD version, and fell in love with this. Granted, the English dub could've been better. The JPN original has now been subbed by Karyuudo Fansubs.
I grew up with Generation 1, and I LOVED!! TransFormers Armada, even with its faults. When I first heard about a live-action TransFormers movie, I was totally against it. Granted, Cybertron aired out of order, I loved it. I loved the robot designs (thank you, Gonzo!!). TransFormers Animated was originally known as TransFormers: Heroes, which sparked my interest. When I found out the name was changed, and saw the character designs, I completely dropped any interest.
For all its issues, of which there are MANY, I admit it. I love the murder psycho Optimus from the Bay-verse. Im a 90s kid. I remember watching Beast Wars. Armada is the one I loved the most. I even remember forcing myself to like the redesigns in Energon. I know Optimus has never been a borderline sadistic death machine. But it just does it for me. The Last Knight was offensively bad, but Optimus severing five deceptions with one swing was so awesome. He's what keeps me coming back. Despite how bad those movies progressively got.
Man I love me some TF2! Seen it opening weekend when i was like 7 years old. THE HYPE WAS REAL!!!
Funny thing about JP Armada and Energon is that Megatron never actually changed his name to Galvatron after getting his new paint job during Armada. He became Galvatron after he had been resurrected at the beginning of Energon.
24:21 I'm so happy you brought this up, I used to have a couple of these sets as a kid!
For as much as the some of the dialog has aged in the '07 Film, the effects haven't aged a day and the action is outstanding. I'm glad I was born at the right moment to be a kid and be there for that film and introducing me to not only the franchise but one of my favorite artists, Linkin Park. Thinking back on it more, Transformers was a big part of childhood in the mid-00s as I got more into a longtime love of all thing mechanical and science fiction.
Optimus laughs when he finds Sentinel's head lives in my head rent free.
Bay was destined to direct Transformers. God I love that movie. The soundtrack and sound design are incredible.
I absolutely loved your work on both part 1, and part 2 of this mini series. keep up the good work, amigo!
1:48:19 why does his narration sync so well with Optimus's dialogue?
Bro i thought they changed his voice and it was Optimus prime talking,😂
Wow, this has been the single most introspective, and fun video I’ve seen on this platform. Super underrated, you’ve earned my sub, and I’ll be sharing.
These are genuinely some of the best, most concise and well put together videos i’ve ever watched on UA-cam! You either have the greatest memory known to man or you really do your research because as a life long transformers fan, your takes and opinions on almost every single property are how i remember feeling or how i remember general audiences feeling. Great stuff man.
I never watched armada except for the dvd I had of the episodes about Unicron and they are so nostalgic to me, I'm gonna get the dvd out tomorrow and watch it. Great video, your retrospectives are amazing, you're going somewhere
If this retrospective proves anything, it's that Retcon is the most powerful force in the Transformers universe. If a definitive series finale stands in your way, just summon the mighty Retcon and all your problems are solved. It doesn't even need to transform lol.
I remember watching the first transformer movie in 2007 it gave me goosebumps
Not many retrospectives take the time to research production history and fan reception. Just know we appreciate it as it makes it all super nostalgic!
I still yearn for a return of Armada Starscream; the tragic and noble warrior who only sought recognition from a man he admired, recieved nothing but abuse, and learned what true comradary was before a poingant sacrifice just to make a point.
If any series needs a re-master, it is Armada. That show was only held back by scripting and animation errors.
One thing you gotta love about Michael Bay is that it seems like his only goal when making a movie is to make the rawest shit possible and he damn near always achieves just that
Yeah but the movies aren't really good just explosions. Like he takes the whole " turn off your brain and watch" to a new level. usually movies like that are alright but idk I didn't like any of them except for the first one.
Thank you for making this. It's probably one of the most important piece UA-cam content to exist in my humble opinion. Sleep good handsome man.
I actually currently work with one of the navy personnel that served on the aircraft carrier in the film. And as it turns out there was only one aircraft carrier in the movie they just copie pasted it.
Thsi was the era I grew up with. I started with Cybertron with the first Bay film and animated cementing my love
Armada was MY first proper transformers show. I saw Robots in disguise before yeah, but Armada was the one that really hooked me and made me a fan. Especially in the last third of the show it REALLY picks up and has one of my, still to this day, personal favorite endings. And no Starscream is as interesting to me as the one from Armada honestly. Learning it wasn't all that popular with the larger fandom later on in my life was a shock to be honest. Rewatching it now...yeah I guess it has its issues, but i still have a warm place in my heart for it.
this video is amazing! i love how in depth you went through everything and i learned a lot that i didn't know beforehand
I have a softspot for the unicron trilogy. It's what got me into this franchise in the first place. Even to this date armada stands as one of the best transformers cartoons ever. Energon is... Well energon but i can't hate it cause it was the first transformers media i ever saw so even if it's not that good i still like it. Cybertron was an all around good show although it was the most "toy market" heavy show of the trilogy. So i have a lot of nostalgia for the trilogy and i love all three of them. Great analysis!
I feel like revenge of the fallen is slowly becoming more liked and nostalgic for fans, as I watch it now, it’s different than back then
Tbh revenge of the fallen is a gulity pleasure of mine just because I grew up with the unicron trilogy and seeing Optimus combine with jet fire in live action got me really excited in the theater
ROTF was the coolest movie I had ever watched when I was a kid. The toys were cool as hell too but I could never get my hands on them. Leader class Optimus prime was everything I wanted...
@@jerry3408 leader class Optimus was probably the most accurate Optimus from the three movies
@@chino19963 totally agree, there has not been any thing that can top that figure
It's better than the piece of shit last knight
It's actually so cool to get to learn more about the series in this regard
I'm from 88 and I grew up with the toys, the G1 toys. And bought the beast wars toys. I enjoyed all of them. And the introduction of the movie blew my mind! And I watched the first movie with my dad and it's a precious memory of mine. And hate me all you want, I enjoyed every. single. second. of. it.
Took me back so hard hearing about the huge explosion of fans for the 07 movie. I remember scrolling through tfw2005 for concept art or speculations of the robot modes. 😊
i am amazed how good and well made are these documentaries by you, it's obvious that you are huge fan just like me by watching this, this is must watch for every TF fan. I have already watched the first one, got amazed and entertained at the very beginning. Thank you so much on your determination and love for TF for leaving us this beatiful documentary series!
While the Unicron Trilogy was a messy sort of shows, with Energon being actually my favourite when i was growing up in 04... I was a kid with the attention span of a gnat and enjoyed whatever was put in front of my dopey face. I can safely say that the unicron trilogy is still in my top 5 Transformers series and still holds a great deal of nostalgia that i will got back and watch it every now and again in full.
I've found your channel through these last two Transformers videos and I have to say they're really impressive. Can't wait for part 3!
My new favorite channel, Thank you Prime of Grammar! I can't get enough of your content, keep up the great work!
The transformers: cybertron intro is one hell of a takeback for me. It's possibly the first ever transformers series i have watched. As soon as the intro played, feelings of familiarity and joy came to me instantly.
This one is the best episode, 'cause it's got TFA in it.
(But fr these are all peak)
Thanks for saving me the pain and frustration of having to watch the A/E/C trilogy! This was exactly how much of it anyone should ever be exposed to, like a dental x-ray through a lead blanket.
I admit I was one of the naysayers for Animated because _How does this design work? How do you make THAT shape fold up into THAT shape? This is an impossible task!_
And then they released the toys.
And I was like "... Well, okay then."
And Animated is pretty much the pointiest peak of Transformers media I've experienced.
Peter Cullen may have been Cartoon Robot Truck Dad when I was four, but his show was bizarre and disjointed when I go back and watch it today.
David Kaye was a role model for a young man learning to be an adult.
Armada was my "G1" as a 90's baby and I'd watch it when it aired on Toonami, it has my most favorite incarnation of Starscream.
"Defeating Megatron once and for all."
It gets funnier every time Lol
I was 8 when transformers 2007 came out, i LOVED it so much, the mindless action is what made the movie so good to young me and the nostalgia from it is why im able to enjoy all the movies following it 😂
Honestly, I feel like Transformers Cybertron is the Best in the Unicron Trilogy for if you watched this as the Japanese Release (TF Galaxy Force), especially separating from Armada-Energon, it's all the more Entertaining to watch...
You're efforts in putting all this together are greatly appreciated, I've binged watched the first two instalments and have barely blinked.
For years I've been meaning to re-watch the Bay movies, you're enthusiasm for them has pushed me a little closer.. well, maybe with regards t the first one.
I absolutely loved the sheer brutality of the Bay films! Finally! The kid gloves are off and the real Transformers can shine!
I just finished part one this morning! Awesome!
Absolutely love this series! Fingers crossed you get all the ad-revenue you can since so much love and effort is put into these. It's also so refreshing for the live action movies to get praised when they deserve it! I can't wait to go and watch part 3 since since DoTM and Prime are my absolute favorite bits of TF media
These retrospectives give me all the little details that make me laugh, cringe, and all the while feel complete excitement for what was and is my childhood. Can’t wait for the new movie next year!
this is really good, and that turnaround is just great
These vids have been a fun little trip down memory lane. Keep up the great work!
Did the writers know what they were doing when they gave the character the nickname "Alpha Q"
I've been playing this series over my truck's radio on the drive home for the past few days. It's so well written that you can follow everything by ear.
The 2007 should get big credit, I was still a teenager when it first came out. Just seeing those cars and trucks transform and hearing the transformation and that iconic voice from Peter Cullen man it still gives goosebumps to me. I still have the original Truck Trend magazine featuring the GMC Topkick that transforms to Ironhide. That movie alone I played almost 50 times to the complete dismay of my neighbors because I always put that movie on blast surround sound.
I found your channel today by chance and it's easily one of my favorites now. Your voice is a fresh one and these retrospectives are amazing!
loving these videos, exited for the next part
That first movie was sooo good, I love the second movie too but wow that first one was great. I was instantly obsssed, I had tee shirts, toys, games, everything all because that first movie. I owned it on every format. It’s just unreal.
omg! i thougth it was over after watching your first video. did not realize it was just part 1 and it is a 4 part documentary…
man u are the highlight of my Christmas… tnx foe all this nostalgia…
I love watching your videos dude, this was way better than the last and I can't wait for your next video
Yet again another awesomely detailed and long form video of yours. Cant wait to see Part 3 and 4!
I think my favorite part in first bayformer's movie is where all the decepticon doing the roll call when summoned to the damn and they like speaks in cybertronian, that is super cool.
dude!! just.... THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
Another incredible video!
Honestly when I was 6 or 7 I used to "try" to act like the transformers in these movies I was just amazed at their scale the fighting and the transformations😅
These videos are unbelievable. I've watched them all a few times each now. Very well done.
Transformers Cyberton was a badass show, it introduced me to the franchise and I remember my cousin and I were hyped af for the movie
"alright everyone, we'll attack Unicron and defeat Megatron, let's do it!"
-Optimus Prime, master tactician, Transformers Energon
These videos keep me sane at work, thank you prime
Found your channel from the series on the MCU. Amazing work there and here. I didn’t keep up with the shows or anything after my childhood years until the 2007 movie. The Michael Bay let’s blow stuff up negative narrative is what people act like that’s all these movies were. I get it but there were some great moments in there. Watching these clips and coverage of the 2007 film it was such a jaw dropping portrayal of the Transformers for those like me who hadn’t seen them acted out on screen since childhood. Amazing work on these retrospectives!
Holy shit the transformers energon theme activated an ancient dormant part of my brain...
just discovered this channel & this series; amazing background noise for studying, really
thanks for this 👍🏽
My dad rewatched the live action transformers movie like 11 times when we got it on hi def dvd. We had a full surround sound system and high definition tv. That film is quite something amazing.
Can’t wait for the next part
Fantastic job with this. The Armada era happened while I was in high school and thus I totally skipped all those anime seasons. Thanks for summing them up so I know I wasn't missing much.
Terrific vid! Ah, yes… Memories. I still have my uber collections of toys from every show spotlighted in this epic vid. Subscribed!
Great vid. Takes me back to my college years. And informed me of many things I missed.
Going to go buy Transformers Animated and watch it with my son.
I legit just died when he said "But he does ski around space while yodeling... so there's that.
This series is amazing so far, I really love it.
I remember, my sister and I went to see the first live action
movie, as her first transformer exposure. AND SHE LIKED IT.
I was almost in tears when you highlight S2 of Armada. We were just kids and we used to love that show.
Just randomly stumbled across your videos and honestly these videos really reminded me of my childhood of watching these shows and movies! Keep up the good work!
Best Documentary Ever
Transformers Energon was my introduction into the franchise im happy to see someone talking about it
Your documentary style of video is Awesome love your content.
I'll be honest I was born at the beginning of the unicron trilogy some of my earliest memories are from when I was 4 watching the 07 movie and I really enjoyed it
