    This will out last any BMW or Merc in overall reliability...check out 2000-2015 message boards from theses owners, only hurdles Hyundai/Genesis has is Brand awareness and customer perception that this Company has arrived with top tier Sedans that can compete and beat its competitors...

      Genesis hasn't been around since the 2000s. Get this car if you can't afford the German, or British luxury brands. Wait do I see a Chrysler badge, no Bentley, no Aston Martin. That's right this is the clone car from Korea. Why is the exhaust sound coming from the speakers? This guy is praising Hyundai for finally making a car that's not an embarrassment ok but don't insult my intelligence this car a cheap clone of about 5 different cars.

    I just sub'd to your channel. I really believe the German Premium Brands need to start paying attention, as Hyundai's Genesis is pretty amazing. The quality is very obvious, fit and finish superb....I noted in a new W213 Mercedes Benz E class, a few cheap quality plastics were on open display (the back of the centre console), this really shouldn't happen in a "High End Mid Level Executive Sedan." Genesis seems to have a winning formula with the G80 and 90.

    Great review! I have a 2016 3.8 AWD Ultimate and I love it. So far 11K miles with no issues. On my 2 road trips I got 29 & 30 MPG driving conservatively. The advanced safety gear just saved us from a near incident 2 weeks ago. It reacted before i had a chance to hit the breaks. I have never driven a 5.0 V8 but find my 3.8 to provide the power I need. In fact I did a check, on the web, the other day and found that my 1966 Impala SS 427(435 HP) Muscle car is .2 MPH slower in the 0 to 60 test and almost the same in the quarter mile. We have come a long way from the 60"s. My only question is how well Hyundai will be able to service these car's? So far for me, so good. Thanks Sam.

    My one pet peeve is the matte finish wood trim without any alternate choice. The matte finish gets lost within the "matte" finished everything around it. The gloss finish would add a definitive focal point. Carbon Fiber would also be gorgeous. They need to offer some more choices like the competitors.

      Edward Weagle The 17 G80 5.0 doesn't come with heated rear seats or the rear sunshades. For some reason Hyundai didn't think it was necessary on a luxury brand car so they deleted them on 5.0's. The AWD V6 still offers those features. That's why I plan to purchase a 15' 5.0 with Ultimate pkg which has those features.

      Understood, and I will certainly watch your in-depth comparison, as usual, once you will have tested the G90. I meant literally just a mention of it, the positioning, and the highlights. Perhaps one sentence in all, just to have a better understanding of where the G80 fits in the lineup.

    • @mrk2ovtec

      mountainhobo only difference with the g90 is that it offers a lot more luxury. it's like a cheaper s550 or 750. although it doesn't not feel cheaper at all. the Genesis g80 is more of a family car and the g90 is more of a executive car. you're meant to be driven around because the rear seats have all the commodities

    The 5.0 V8 doesn't require premium fuel to drive. You only need premium in order to reach that 420 HP, otherwise with regular you get about 403 HP.

    • @TestDrivenTV
      @TestDrivenTV  7 років тому +2

      It's not a factual error. We quote what factory specifications and EPA government fuel ratings state for advertised horsepower and fuel economy, our policy. This is the case for most cars today, they can all run on regular unleaded in spite of "recommendations".

    • @AirLancer
      @AirLancer 7 років тому +1

      To me "require" is mandatory, as in if it requires premium fuel, then using regular would break it.

      @21cabbagers98 6 років тому

      interesting that they say that. im a genesis salesman at a hyundai dealership in North Carolina and we tell all of our customers to use regular fuel. of course you COULD use premium fuel, but we got 418hp on the dyno out of regular.

    • @TestDrivenTV
      @TestDrivenTV  6 років тому +1

    Interesting that you mention it has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It seems that the 5.0 actually does not offer these... only the less expensive "non-ultimate" models have it, as funny as that is. It's something to do with the larger display system not being made in-house. There is a rather lengthy thread on the GenesisOwners forum. Can you confirm that this model you've reviewed actually has it? Perhaps this is something they've finally addressed, as of the date of this video.

    This is a really nice car and much better value than any European competitors. However, I'm not a fan of the exterior look. The rear resembles the Elantra way too make changes. Why make this luxury branded car remotely resemble a hyundai economy car from the rear? The front looks very generic and unfinished. I understand them wanted to show restraint and style it a bit conservatively for the demographic, but to my eye the face looks like a Chinese knockoff of a collection of other luxury cars. Especially that bland grille. No personality at all. At least the interior is gorgeous.

      Thank you for pointing those points out. I agree... Unbelievable interior too!

      I like the front and grille, but the rear resembles a honda accord.

    Such an expensive car with a ugly ass steering wheel, genesis needs to get that check out.

    So just like the Nissan Infiniti and the Toyota Lexus and the Ford Lincoln? Was it more like the Volkswagen Audi? Maybe the Chevy Cadillac?
