The issue with the water is your rear tail lights, you need to pull them off and silicone the gasket on BOTH sides of the gasket on each tail light. I had the same issue and dealership wanted to replace the lights and its literally just the gasket, all the coupes are prone to this and they only sell the gaskets for the coupe.
Takes 30min to do both. Go fix that water issue.
@@KriDawg420 Great point. Are you talking about problem number 15 with water in my trunk? I don't have an issue with water in my tail light, however, I did have an issue with water in my trunk, until I had it fixed.
@@KLEANTRIX water in the trunk...
Ty
I own a 2015 5.0 and my average MPG is 24.5, with 80% highway driving. I did replace the turn signal bulb once, no paint issues, no trim peeling issues, no water in trunk issues. The audio base is good, but I agree that the leather is one thick cow! Mechanically no issues, quiet, dependable, my headlights are great...love the car.
Similar experience with my 2015 5.0 - 24 mpg, mostly highway driving. Only issue I had was door handle broke off, not too difficult to replace. No water, no sound issues, no paint issues. I really enjoy the car, for me, the look of the sedan has held up pretty well. The engine has a pretty good punch when needed.
other from true degradation i think this reviewer is just nitpicking.. it's personally preferences i get it.. this car has some faults sure but rock chips on a front bumper , doors latching really.. my youngsters either slam the hek outa my vehicle doors or half the time not enough that happens to any vehicle, water in the trunk and after a year no permanent fix just drive with the plug out not good 😐🙄 next thing theres rust forming behind the tale light
Would you say the seats are comfortable? I am picking between a few different options like a 2017 A4, this and a 2014 Equus Ultimate, just want to know what you thought of the comfort.
@@maybecole I would give the seats 7/10 for comfort and 10/10 for durability. Never sat in an A4 but 2015 Equus seats are comfortable. My 2017 Ridgeline has much more comfortable seating. Ironically, they made the rear seats in the 2015 Genesis more comfortable than the front!
@@bluestraw7412 Okay good to know! I am currently sitting in a 2016 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring and the seats are a bit stiff with the tough leather that was noted earlier. Looking for something with better more comfortable padding in the move up to luxury department.
The base issue is an easy fix and I know exactly what you are talking about.
I was a bit underwhelmed with the stereo when I first bought my genesis. I found out that the L7 surround sound settings was turned on….turned it off and got amazing base. Try it and thank me later 😀
Hmmm. Going to check if I have surround on...
Another thing that I do in ALL my vehicles is I fade the music all the way to the rear speakers. I slowly start to move it forward. Once I can hear it out of my front speakers, I stop. This puts more power to the back speakers which are usually your 6x9 or the like. I have never found a car where this did not make it sound better in terms of more base.
I've got a 2015 one, since new. Don't see any of these "issues". I do think you're being picky. I dunno what you've done to the front of your car but your headlights are all pitted up as well. looks like sand blasting. Your back bumper looks fine in comparison. My sunroof is fine, no noise. Never had to change any lights, only had to change one fuse for the 12v power in the front console. Ive had 2 key batteries replaced in 7 years, high brake light is fine. Boot(trunk) button is fine, never had water in my boot(trunk) (Yep sounds like bad seals or an open bottle of water in the boot(trunk), Auto wipers turn on with the first light rain, I have soft close doors so no slamming needed. I love my paddle shifters, I generally use them to change down when starting a hill to pre-empt the auto transmission. I have no problems with the response of the screen, but have the 10inch model with different OS and Nav. Yeah the smart trunk can be annoying, but you get used to it. I have USB adaptors in the back console and in the 12v power socket. I think 'hate' is a strong word for your peeves, but I guess it gets watches. After 7 years my Genesis is as good as it was brand new, apart from a few paint chips and fading chrome edging on the gear shifter knob. But I have a habit of resting my hand on it. Can't wait to see the things you like about your Genesis.
My experience as well with a 7 year old car, I too have the soft close.
Same here, none of these are issues on my 2015.
I had a 2015 prestige top of the line so it had more speakers and I enjoyed the sound system because it had a subwoofer. Never had to replace turn bulbs and my trunk was electronic so I never experienced a spring issue. He’s right about the roof though but was covered under warranty. I truly enjoyed the ride.
These are all minor issues or normal wear, and tear. The seat folding is a preference. I like mine the way it is. 8 yrs I've had mine and it's the most reliable car never had any issues. The light issue is not expensive replaced once. I have peace of mind yrs in and still going. I had a BMW before that & have had a Mercedes. Love the Genesis - no headaches.
You are so correct
I have had a 2015 for 8 years. The only one of these issues I've had is the trunk lid button disintegrating. Other than that, this car looks like it came out of the showroom floor today. Great vehicle.
Lexicon system is AMAZING.. One of the cleanest systems I've had Esp with the volume turned all the way up.. Not alot of distortion... As for the lane keep. Remember this lane keep was newish. I had no. Issues on the highway. Esp on curves it always kept its lane... Check your drain lines are closed. Never had water get into the trunk like that.. As for the mpg. You just got a heavy foot 😂 I used to get around 25-26mpg on 490miles...using the paddles that you hate so much lol. It helped keep my rpms under 2000...city driving is where you it suffers though.
I only agree with you on 2 of your complaints. My 2016 with 61000miles does not experience these issues. No paint chips, no sunroof noise, no bulbs burn out, 1 keyfob battery change, 3rd eye tailight assembly is perfect, doors close fine, tilt mirrors work well, rain sensors work great, if anything too sensitive, satisfying stereo bass response, 22mpg, (30 on highway) and no soot on chrome exhaust trim. Lane Keep Assist gives good haptic feedback and tugs the wheel when I drift out of lane.
Regarding water in trunk. There is a factory bulletin issued by Hyundai to fix this. The dealer can fix it in 15 minutes. Water comes in thru tail light.
Regarding paddle shifters. I use them all the time when in "Sport" mode. As well as using the stick shifter. Hyundai engineers made good choices in their downshift points in Sport auto, but I prefer to use the paddles for upshift. I use Sport manual with paddles , maybe 50% of the time. Sport auto mode 25% and "Vanilla?" auto when on the expressway, Never use Econ mode.
Re: map update, I got the latest update for $25 when I upgraded the firmware to Android Auto. BTW, why are you letting people charge with the USB port? That port is for Android Auto , use the cig lighter for charging 2nd and 3rd devices.
My final point is why do you not inspect the oil change work at the dealer? Before leaving? Tell the agent you want to check oil level, filter not leaking, check if underpanel and all clips are back in place, and that orange plastic dipstick endpiece was not broken. (a common problem) They will bring car back into customer bay and go over it with you. Bring flashlight and inspection mirror.
I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. I have a 2012 genesis 4.6L with 78,000 miles on it, it’s a great car and other no problems with it whatsoever that I haven’t caused! I would recommend this car to anyone.
For me after 7 years of use. I agree with everything u said except the lane keep assistance which works ok with me also the turn light signals are good never changed. My car had +300k Km.
In addition, the headlights are the worst and not enough to give a clear visibility at night.
It is true that I have some observations, but some of them I have not encountered now, the car has been with me for 7 years, but what I agree with you is the headlights are very, very bad, at night I can hardly see the road, but in general it is a wonderful and comfortable car
Yeah honestly the bad Lane Keep and bad rain sensing could just be a dirty camera. Both features use a camera to work properly and just like a phone camera or a home security camera if they're dirty they won't work or detect properly.
How’s the transmission holding up?
So far so good since I change the transmission oil along with the filter every 100,000 km@@Veezeweakass
This is a SUPER HELFUL video. Wish there was more of these kid of videos to look over. Really helpful to those looking into the new future models of cars made by these manufactuers.
I was looking at the newer Lincoln Continental Reserve models, new Toyota Avalons and even the KIA900,
I came to the conclusion that I'm not comfortable anymore with all the new electronic accessories & onboard computers (and their chips) in most all modern day vehicles. I have a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis that is free of those onboard computer electronics, it still has power windows & such but it's kept simple basic old school mechanics & still offers great comfort rather than a bunch of added gadgets that can go wrong.
And I find it a shame that a so-called luxury vehicle's paint went so wrong. I had a KIA Amanti that also had the paint go bad, faded on the hood & top & I kept it waxed twice a year. Then less than 80,000 miles on it, it had computer chip problems causing the EGR valve to go bad & not be able to smog the car. I'm sick of these electronics & bad paint on these so0called luxury cars. I don't even trust Lincoln/Ford anymore even. Nor Cadillac.
I have a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I have been considering upgrading to a Genesis GV80. I keep my cars for over 10 years and I was quite surprised and disappointed by the issues you have had with your Genesis. My Jeep has not nothing close to the issues you have had for the exception of Chryslers UConnect entertainment system, which is garbage. My Jeep issues have been more mechanical in nature. When I hit 100k miles or more, I had a parade of major failures. Radiator, Thermostat, Oil Cooler, Water Pump, 2 (yes 2) AC compressors, Heat Exchanger, Blower, Front Heated Seats Replacement, Cool/Hot Air Diverter Unit (Cha-Ching), 2 Wheel Bearings, Rear Wiper Motor, and Motor Mounts. Whew... I noticed however, you didn't seem to have any major power plant/transmission issues? That is a plus.
Like 90% of these problems are vehicle specific, not an issue on all models
I might just buy this car at an auction… great info I must and glad that you stilll love your whip man, I might just go with it…
Glad I could help. Here is what I like about the car: ua-cam.com/video/VUMKBwwfu4w/v-deo.html
There's absolutely nothing o hate about my 2017 genesis g80.. as a matter of fact, anywhere i go, all eyes on me, because of the car, everyone's always staring at my car 😀
im really considering pulling the trigger on one. i have a 2018 one near by with 48k miles for about 24k
I have a 2016 and the only issue mentioned that I have is the bass. I think bass. The paint is fine, no trunk issues (opening or water). No mechanical issues to speak of either.
How many miles ?
Thanks for this video, i’m thinking about purchasing one next year. So i appreciate you sharing the Cons about this year model.
This would exactly be the video I would make for trying to convince my wife to upgrade her Genesis. On the playlist for later tonight. 😂
I have a 2017 G80 and have not had any issues. It still looks a beautiful as the day I bought it. I'm not sure where your located but it looks like it's been pretty weather beaten. The only thing I agree on is the dealership is horrible with replacing the plastic fasteners. As for the lane keep assist, that generation G80 only warns you of staying within lane. It does not auto correct. Remember, this generation car was in it's infancy with some of the navigation and driver assist features. Hyundai/Genesis has come a long way since then.
> As for the lane keep assist, that generation G80 only warns you of staying within lane. It does not auto correct.
I came straight to the comments to make sure I wasn't missing something. My 2015 also only vibrates the wheel, does not steer for itself. I can only assume he misunderstands the system
I have a 2017 G80 3.8L. Not one of your issues has come up with my car. It's been an excellent car.
They probably fixed a lot of the issues after 2 years. Good to hear!
Own a 2015 ultimate 5.0. With 68k miles. Have none of these issues.
From a brand that sold a new car for 5k back in the late 80s hyundia has come a long way .
I never had ANY ofthese issues with my 2015. Only thing that bothered me was no place to charge anything in the back. Surprised they never added anything for this bicycle over the years it was out.
The dealership wants 4000.00 to replace my sunroof. It doesn’t want to close sometimes. They say it’s the motor.
Planning on buying a 2015 5.0 Genesis with 155K miles on it. Do you think it’s worth it?
It shows there have been a three recalls for electrical fuse or something but everything works when I took it for a test drive
Please suggest!
I honestly really enjoyed driving it though
They addressed the electrical fuse in a recall. When I purchased my 2015 Genesis 5.0, the dealership took care of all those things.
🖐🖐🔥😳 I owned a new 2010 Genesis when they were fairly new to the market, after five years sold it due to major engine problems that Genesis wouldn’t cover. I love the recent model design and wanted to look again, hoping the problems were worked out. Yikes! A Genesis sedan was at the top of my list but after your video I’m running the other way! Explains why even recent Genesis models prices in the basement! You get what you pay for applies here.🔥🔥🔥 Thanks for the warning.
As someone who has only had older cars 90’s-early 2000s and is thinking of getting something. 2015+ the Genesis was my go to and this video has given me something to think about.
I have one and the only interior issue I had in terms of materials is that the glove box latch isn't designed to hold any weight. They're pricey too. Perhaps your issues are more about being in a sunnier climate. I looked at lots of other cars with higher mileage and one of those and it's buttons and things actually hold up very well.
As for seat comfort. I agree they don't feel initially so but I found after taking long distance drives and I was really comfortable with almost no adjustment in my seat.
I live in a cooler climate and my turn signals have never had any issues.
Helpful video! I was really considering buying this model year. Thanks for this!
Have had 3 Genesis sedans not sure what happen with his but the only thing I can really agree with is the factory touchscreen and if you update your radio through Hyundai website problem solved 🤷🏾♂️ test drive one
ive dealt with literally every issue you talked about. one thing i'd add is making the rear tires bigger than the front so you can't rotate the tires and the rears wear out fast.
I have a 2016 Equus with the same Lexicon system. You can dial in more bass manually if you want to. I did and now it sounds great 👍
125k on my 2015 - no issues with my turn signals - zero replacements. 2 years is normal replacement for batteries on any car. No trunk springs on the electric liftgate. If water is pooling in your trunk you have a leak somewhere - you need to identify it. Never 1 drop of water in my trunk, and it is parked outside all the time. No mirror tilting problems on mine. You should always close all doors firmly. Don't be a wuss. No screen issues on mine - but I have the Ultimate. Very quick and works great. My smart trunk works great. Just leave cables plugged into the USB ports. Your mileage is due to you putting your foot in it. I have the 3.8 AWD and get 28-29 on the highway, 25-26 mixed, and 22 city. Sooty exhaust is a byproduct of any GDI engine. Use additives or run premium if you are that worried about it.
My 7 year old Genesis that I owned since new is the European model. I keep it garaged when not in use. Every problem you have, I don't have. The USB is a bit of a nuisance. I have soft close doors that work so well. The seats when adjusted are super comfy. The leather quality is better than yours, really nice. My paintwork is fantastic/ beautiful. The paddle shifters work really well. The gas mileage is not the best, but it is a big powerful limo, and what I like way out ways the gas issue. My car still drives and looks, inside and out, just like new. Maybe the US model is inferior. Maybe your car has had a hard life. I see other long term reviews and they love this car. Oh, and my sunroof does not make a noise. In fact, the car is whisper quiet inside. If you were thinking of buying one I would still take a look at it. I think this guy is just unlucky. I love my Genesis.
I loved my 2015 5.0 so much that I upgraded to a 2018 5.0 HTRAC. No regrets.
I own a 2015 5.0, and I agree with all your points, ALL OF THEM, except gas mileage. I will add the "plastic back of front seat(s) covers"..there is an internal latch that brakes and has to be repaired; this is common. I'm also having problems with the sunroof open and close mechanism. Also, there is no sensor for low coolant in the coolant reservoir. I'm up to 125,000 and more things are starting to have small issues...so we are going to sell it.
i have same car as yours and I agree my back up camera broke, cant open trunk, etc, etc, etc. As a former Mercedes owner once I am done with this car I will never get another one. Great review.
So funny! My Mercedes had nothing but issues, interior didn’t hold up, freaking valves had to be replaced - - - it just became a money pit. And I’m not too impressed with the service engineers - they just kept leading me on - taking more money…….so I bought an Audi
I have owned a 2015 3.8 tech for a little over a year now with about 52k miles and here is my opinion on what you said.
#1: agreed. Hyundai has some of the worst paint quality in the business.
#2: agreed. The sunroof in mine rattles a bit and it doesn't close reliably if I open it. I have yet to lube it but it's low on my priority list because I rarely open the sunroof part, just the shade.
#3: partially agree. I actually really like the Lexicon sound system as I am more of an audiophile and it's a very balanced clear system. However, I do agree on the bass. I like how it's balanced and clean and tight, however, there's just not enough punch for when I want to crank it up and blare my music. You have to remember that sound is subjective though.
#4: I have noticed my third brake light seal coming close and dangling down in the last couple of months. The light has always shined in anyways and I'm probably just going to tape the seal with scotch tape for now.
#5: partially agree. The lane keep assist in the 2015 and 16s isn't great, but it does work. Make sure it's in pre departure mode and it will keep you in the lane. It will even take slight curves in the road, but it's hit or miss. Still better than nothing and good enough to show off to friends and tell them your car can kind of drive itself.
#6: yes, mine has soot on the exhaust ports too and it looks ugly.
#7: This isn't a really big deal to me as I don't want to carry lots of crap in my car, but yes, it would be nice if we had the option to fold down the backseat.
#8: partially agree. The front seats aren't terrible and I find them comfortable but the backseats are more comfortable. But then again seats is another thing that is very subjective. For example my step mom doesn't like the front seats and headrests in mine.
#9: agreed. Even my dads old 2011 v8 genesis and his 2018 G90 has softer leather than my 2015. The leather in my 2015 is just not up to par for some reason even though it's supposed to have "ultra premium leather" with the tech package.
#10: Since I've owned the car, I only have had to change the driver side turn signal. I find it annoying they decided to use the turn signal as the DRL for 2015 in the US market. I'm trying to find a way to make the DRLs the LED strip like the Canadian models and the 2016 and newer US models.
#11: I just had to replace both of my key fob batteries, but then again, I got the car used a year ago so I don't know when they were replaced last.
#12: Yes, I noticed my clips missing if I remember correctly when I got my engine air filter changed last year. They are kind of hard to put in so my guess is the techs are just lazy and don't want to put them back in.
#13: My trunk has never opened since owning the vehicle. It probably wore out under the last owner. I've thought about maybe retrofitting a power trunk.
#14: I haven't had an issue with that trunk release button, even on my dads old 2011 it's still in decent shape.
#15: I haven't noticed any water in mine and I check quite regularly recently because I just had some minor rear end damage repaired and want to make sure the shop put everything back together correctly.
#16: Now that I think about it, I think you are right about that. It does seem my mirrors slowly over time keep tilting more down from my setting to the point where I have to hit my setting button every now and then to get them back to where they were.
#17: Funny enough I was just writing about this on the Genesis Fourm. I don't really mind the rain sensor besides the facts you had mentioned like mist, but they really should give us an option to revert to intermittent wipers like gm vehicles. Considering you can turn off the Lock Beep and customize the number of flashes for the lane change function it puzzles me why they don't have a setting for the wipers.
#18: I haven't really noticed that with how I close the doors. I have considered retrofitting soft close doors as the KDM model had them but I think that would be too much work and wouldn't be worth it.
#19: Yeah, I can notice some of my interior aging, but it's not terrible.
#20: I rarely use the paddle shifters it does make the driving a little more fun, but yeah, they are terrible, they feel cheap, and they have so much lag. I mean I don't really care that much as it's more of a luxury car anyways.
#21: I partially agree. Yeah, it is slow and dated, but I don't know if you realize you can actually update the map data for free from hyundai at home. It's simply an SD card and the program to do it is a free download. Just go to update.hyundai.com and it will guide you through the steps. Based on the look of the interface, it looks like yours hasn't been updated in a while. I just updated mine the other day to the october 2022 update. Yes, carplay does definitely save the datedness of this screen which is funny because the higher end 9.2 inch screen in the ultimate package doesn't have carplay.
#22: Yeah, I agree. I don't see the point of it if it's not going to open. I guess it makes since if the trunk actually opens.
#23: Yeah, that's really not a good place for the usb port.
#24: Yeah, the fuel economy on my 3.8 isn't the best either, but then again, I didn't buy this car for fuel economy. I actually average more like 15 MPG because I do a lot of stop and go traffic driving, but when I drive on the highway more, it's closer to 18-20MPG>
Great video summarizing all of the issues. I do love this car a lot but there are many issues I do have with it as you mentioned in the video. Can't wait for your love video! Also, if you still have this car and license plate you might want to blur it. BTW I'm in Texas too!
I’m also in TX with a 2015 g80! Austin for me- I got mine in August. Mine is the Ultimate edition but one thing you should be able to do fairly easily is install an additional amplifier in the trunk which will give you a lot bumpier bass out of the stock subwoofer. There’s a forum post explaining it called “Adding bass to your 17 speaker lexicon with new amplifier” but people in the thread also seem to have been able to get it working with the 14 speaker system.
I also just recently updated my Navigation software to the latest version rolled out to the 2017 models considering the head unit is the exact same from 15-17, but perhaps it wouldn’t be as much of an upgrade for you considering the tech packages have Carplay and the ultimates don’t. Enjoying my car so far!
@@OMGItsBirdmanArchive Okay, so you're saying you put the 2017 firmware on the 2015 9.2 inch head unit and got carplay? Does everything still work properly?
@@prestocartalkandreviews.9705 No there’s no way to get carplay on the 9.2 as far as I know- but I’ve got the 2017’s software now; and this might be placebo but i think the lane keep assist might have upgraded itself as well
Wait so what’s the befit of the 2017 software over the 2015? Did you just download the software for a 2017 Genesis G80 and put it on an SD card and upgrade the system?
What did you expected? Some idiots complained for 8 yrs old used car.
So he says 24 things he hates about the car, then says he likes the car. If I could come up with 24 things I don’t like about my car, I wouldn’t have kept it for as long as I have, 13 years.
Nice video bro, I have a 2018 G80 sport, and I have the same issue with the dealership for not replacing the clips, also if you are interested there's a full interior carbon fiber cover, it will cover all the wood, center console, doors armrest. Also your MPG is horrendous, you should get your spark plugs replaced and your ignition coil as well, because it's the same coil in the Elantra! One more thing replace your headlights turn signals with LED ones, or can costume fit the Genesis G80 headlights they have built in turn signals!
Great car tho!
Hi Hasan, great comment. What spark plugs and ignition coil did you use? Also is there a G80 retrofit that works plug and play, because I would assume that I would have to do modifications?
@@KLEANTRIX I used HKS 2 step colder spark plugs, because I'm tuned, and for the headlights turn signals, just get a replacement from Amazon find an LED with the same power consumption, so you don't have the fast blinking effect, for the coils I went with OEM, or you also buy them from Amazon, 3 coils for a 100$
And for the retro fitting of the 2 projector style headlights, you could buy a used set from eBay and check them if they fit.
@@hasanfadhil6404whred did you get your plugs and coils installed? Also do I need to get the coils replaced too? I bought some densos cuz I put in a jb4, but haven't been able to find a reasonably priced person to get them in for me. Haven't bought coils. 2018 g80 sport rwd, lil below 70k miles.
@@korkser plugs and coils I replaced my self, coils I bought directly from Korea through sparekorea, I do recommend to get your coils replaced if you're planning on using E30.
It usually costs 150~200 to replace the spark plugs on the 3.3 engines.
Has your mpg improved at all after changing out the spark plugs and coils?
The biggest problem I had about my 2015 genesis 3.8 is replacing the gas cap numerous of times my engine light would detect slow leak. My trunk works great n to avoid my trunk from opening I just walk on the side of the vehicle. I just replaced my turn signal light in Nov last time I replaced that was 2018 that didn't bother me to much but it cost me $123 bucks on the side I couldn't reach to do it myself. One issue I do have after sometime is the double closing of the sunroof in the inside wouldn't close all the way you could still see light shining through. One feature I do LOVE is that you can watch movies in your car! Just throw in a movie cd and boom date night lol. Overall I love my Ginger the Genesis!
ua-cam.com/video/59c5AeMksZc/v-deo.html
Thanks for the review. Was looking for a 2nd road trip car and think ill just stick to a ES350 or Avalon XLE
I agree with everything you said except the sound system and brakelight. lane keep assist was new, but I never had a issue.. luxury cars rear seats do not fold from what I've seen.
@KLEANTRIX as you said the front seats are truly horrible I'm at a point where I started to get pains & aices on my left thigh because of it, is there a way to make the driver seat less uncomfortable?
Nothing at the moment.... They aren't the best.
Crazy how Hyundai is so different now. One of the best driving assistance now. Lane keeping etc...
Repairing my turn signal socket brought me to this video. Ive experienced atleast
85% of what you mentioned from cheap paint to rear brake light seal.
Oh and as far as the radio... I had an 09 lincoln mks... It literally had the same system screen and format. Old af.
I thought surely my system needed an update but nope... Same 6yr old system.
And even that mks with the thx sound system had a better sound system than my Hyundai.
Can you tell me more about your rear brake seal? Mine just went out and I was quoted $635 to replace just that light. 🤬
@@lipglossswag4128 the plastics are cheap. From the trunk door knob to that rear tail light seal. I haven't replaced the rts and probably won't. It looks like entirely too much labor.
@@morwaze I see. Much love for responding.
My headlights turn off when I use the turn signal. Not every time but randomly.
The rear seats not letting down isn't a problem my Mercedes e430 rear seats has the same design. The concept in mind is not to use your luxury cars to haul things to big to fit in your trunk. the only time I found the rear seats letting down useful is to get to the battery located in the trunk if your car happens to die but the key unlocks it so.
I have a 2017 Genesis g80 It's pretty good, with No Paint issues at all, and no issues that you have. I think you better go Camry man ... Very nice car .
2015 Onwer here..
#1 Agree, my back bumper is looking terrible, and the front looks like yours, but my car is white.
#2 no sunroof..
#3 bass could be better
#4 I removed that seal but I dont have that light problem interesting..
#5 I dont have this. I wouldnt use it if I did
#6 yes, very dirty, i gave up
#7 meh
#8 I can sit for hours, but it used to be more comfy
#9 yea
#10 my signals dont go out.. but Ive had to replace the front lights already a couple times
#11 yea Im replacing batteries today smh

#13 ditto. no fancy going up here either
#14 Dont have that problem, yet.
#15 Does it really? will have to check now
#16 dont have that. would kill me I wouldnt of used it
#17 works when it wants. yea.
#18 and I yell at people when they slam my doors
#19 I have a couple of those. But not bad.
#20 piece of garbage in the way
#21 nissan altimas giive me screen envy
#22 its silly
#23 pshh skip that port.
#24 mine is at 16 cus I havent driven far in a freeway in a while
But I still love it also. My old charger would of had way more problems... I want the G90
Omg a great comparison from your Genesis. The car does have some frustrations, however we love our vehicle.
I can concur the cheap paint! My panaramic roof is going bad will open but i have to force it to close! But I still love my car!
I am from Saudi Arabia and I have a Genesis Royal 2015. The car is wonderful and comfortable, but some notes are now available to me, such as the peeling of the decoration and the leather of the trunk door, and the sound of the roof opening is very annoying, but the most annoying thing is the headlights that you did not mention in the video. The lights are very weak at night, I can hardly see the road. Thank you
When opening and closing the sunroof make sure the car is on a flat surface.
Yeah I agree with some of the other comments. You're being kind of trifling. I don't care if the rear seats don't fold down. Don't like it? Get an SUV. Thick cheap leather? Wears like iron and holds up really well. No leaks,no turn signal bulb problems, no remote battery problems. Not sure why you don't like yours but I love my Equus.😊
OMGG you got rid of your honda😮😮😮😮💨😮💨. I have seen just a handful of people driving these and they look nice so I always wondered how they were so THANK YOU for this video! Still got my 2015 accord sport!
I have a 2015 top of the line Genesis 3.8 liter....45,000 miles. Garage kept.
I'm not sure why you're complaining about the gas mileage. It's rated by the mfgr at 19 mpg. Doesn't matter if that's good or bad, that's what the mfgr said to expect. Why would you expect better....I get about 20.9 mpg
Smart trunk works fine, and my trunk goes up all the way every time.
Turn signals do fail routinely, and I've just now replaced the socket on the right turn signal. Other than breaking the bracket that attaches the wiring harness to the headlight assembly, it was routine, but the part lists for $129!
I have white leather, and it's severely stained by rubbing against my belt.
90% of the time I spent replacing my turn signal bulbs, and now the socket is spent realigning and replacing the (apparently single-use) clips on that beauty cover under the hood. I will add that there are 26 clips and screws necessary to change the oil and filter on the care, and no one ever replaces all of them, either. I'm to old and infirm to do it myself. It's very annoying.
LKA works fine for me, though I no longer use it much.
I use the fabulous active cruise control routinely, and it works perfectly, down to a dead stop if necessary.
I also use the automatic high beams, and they work great.
I update the software on the system every year (for free!) and that has revealed how underpowered the map/entertainment system is. Still, it works, and the company has helped me through several update failures caused by illogical instructions, but they did help, and it did work.
Part 2. The paddle shifters work fine read the manual. If you don’t put the vehicle in sport mode and move the shifter to the left. The car will shift automatically by using rev limiter. If it’s being used appropriately you should have the car in sport mode and shifter to the left. Just don’t blow your car up if you don’t have experience with a manual lmao this bypasses the rev limiter. You can do the same in normal mode however the car will still shift automatically using the rev limiter
I just got a used 2015 with about 100k on it. I got it REALLY cheap so I didnt expect it to be perfect. I have notice this video is just about spot on to whats going on with mine. The paint is faded and clear is gone on the door handles and mirrors. The brake light seal is gone, multiple speakers are blown out entirely, the lumbar on the front driver seat is stuck all the way forward which is terrible, the trunk latch button needs to be replaced, the driver door plastic is worn like your, the trunk springs are worn and dont open fully. If you have a list of part numbers you replaced that would be super usefull.
Hey there! Sounds like you got quite a project on your hands with that 2015 model. It's awesome that this video is helping you out. I don't have a specific list of part numbers, but I recommend checking out online forums or your car's manufacturer website for parts and part numbers. You might find some great advice from fellow owners who've tackled similar issues. Good luck with your repairs! 👍
@@KLEANTRIX Hey man, yes the video was helpful. also made me realize im not alone. I jumped on ebay and found quite a few parts I needed. Already got some OEM rubber floor mats in. On the way I have two sun visors (somehow both mirrors were broken), the truck button rubber seal, I was missing the piece that goes under the mat in the trunk so I ordered that. Ordered a brake light and some pillar post covers too. I got the car really cheap soi dont mind spending a few bucks on the new parts. seems like they wear anyways.
1/ Bad paint
2/ Sunroof noise
3/ No base (I don't care for this)
4/ Brake light degradation
5/ Bad lane keeping assist
6/ Tail pipe exhaust
7/ Rear seats do not fold down
8/ Front Seats are not comfortable
9/ Leather is tough
10/ Front turn signal are halogen
11/ Key battery dies quickly
12/ Hyundai does not replace pins back
13/ Trunk springs weaken over time
14/ Trunk button degrades
15/ Water pools at the back of the trunk
16/ Mirror tilting feature
17/ Rain sensing wipers
18/ Doors needs to be pushed in harder
19/ Materials starting to wear out
20/ Paddle shifters are useless
21/ Screen is not good
22/ Rear trunk does not open due to compromises
23/ Ergonomics of usb is not the best
24/ Mpg is not good
Interesting … I have “Degenerative Disc Disease” and the front drivers seat is great for the chronic lower back pain that comes with it. The lumbar, plus rotating between hot/cold on the seat, has kept me going on the 1700 mile road trip we take twice a year … Personally, I’d say it’s easily the most supportive/comfortable drivers seat of any car I’ve owned, and I’ve had a few…
Part 3. Agreed on usb port location it’s horrible and my 12v acc outputs constantly blow fuses and never work so I gave up
I've had 0 issues with the sunroof, exhaust system,or cyclops light. The paint has some "buffer burn" from a overly enthusiastic detailer, but other than that,no issues from the paint either.😊😊
My 2016 Genesis has 52k miles and I have experienced zero of these issues and I live in New York with brutal winters. You must have a dud
I think the bass is pretty good once you use the EQ, if youre streaming from a iPhone make sure its not set to FLAT EQ. Lane keep is assist not autonomous driving. E class mercedes seats didnt fold until about 2015 and its an option. I have a 2018 with 98k and love the car, Ive only had mine for 7 months and few of the problems you have. WTF were you thinking gas mileage would be with a 3.8 in a 4200lb car?
Never had to change my turn signal lights on my Genesis 5.0 V8
Hey, where did you get the key fob. I really like it. I have a 2016 genesis and am looking for something similar.
I had it custom-made. They don't sell it.
Bro i thought at one minute u were talking about my 03 S500 man what a car but much of what u said was my 03 S 500. Great car but yeah. Air suspension 2 replacement in one year $ 2500, muffler both $1400, driver front seat actuator$600, key fob $250, water coming through sunroof a plug $100, odometer used $3000, I could go on and on. I purchased the car in 08. Traded it in 2014....Good car but after 5 yr of ownership problems. I believe cars will give you problems but cost well now that is the difference
damn thats a lot of repairs, no wonder why most luxury cars values sink like rock once the warranty is over.
Bro where did u get the key fob from?
I own a 2016 Genesis which is similar to yours. The trunk auto opened the lid while in my garage and hit the inside of the closed garage door causing damage to the car. Yep, it's now turned off. I recently have had the electrical system completely shutting down. I have had the battery replaced and that seems to have solved the problem. I hope ! A $400. battery. What sucked is it damaged the SD card for the navigation. Luckily only $40. to replace. My leather seats etc. are starting to wear. Seems a little fragile for leather. Like you, I still love the car and people always take a second look. I have to replace the flying H with the wings, been on my list to do for years.
I've owned my car new to present...only replaced turn once. The sunroof however...should never have had to be replaced, but cracked once & second replace the gears stopped working. Yes to the trunk...uuuugggg. antenna came off on mine a few weeks ago..was hand washing & bam
How did you get the CarPlay on the 2015 Genesis?
I bought a wax called Luster Finish and it did wonders for the shine on my G80.
What material did you use the 3rd brake light?
the seats can't fold. that's not cool. i've opened back seats many times for whatever reason. could be a stuck trunk, or you park next to a wall and wanna pick something, or you pick something from a shop and it's lengthy.
I’m pretty sure you’re trunk seal water issue is due to trunk emblem replacement needs to be sealed I replaced my H with wings and had similar problem
Great thought, however it’s not that actually. Because the water comes from the side.
Perhaps it’s because of early production in 2015. I own a 2017 G80. Bought it used in 2020. It is six years old now and I have not experienced any of these quality problems except for the leather not being very supple. Also, I change my own oil and filters. Precisely because Hyundai dealerships are sloppy. Otherwise, I love the car and will keep it long term.
Great video! Thanks for making
Wait, we can get apple car play? (I have a 2015 also). Please tell what to buy?! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
It’s free actually. Just take it to the dealership and they should be able to update it for you.
@@KLEANTRIX omg!!!! THANK YOU. IM SO EXCITED!!!
With 70,000 miles my 2015 Geneiss the oil pump died, dealer wanted $5500 to replace it. Trade in value about $8500. I got rid of it. It was a great piece of crap from day one.
i’m thinking about buying this car. do you have a video uploaded about the things you love about it?
I haven't however I will.
I’ve had mine almost seven years and love it.
It looks that you don't care about your car the way the engine compartment was so dirty. You should have complained when the clips were not put back in place. It looks that you are not bringing your car from decent shop doing service on your car. The only problem that happened to me is the back up camera and weak spring on the trunk. The Genesis has a good quiet engine and one of the best regarding the soft comfortable ride.
I also had to replace that light and my gas cap wired that opens the cap . I had ro repace the whole mechanism.
I have a 2013 genesis 5.0 modded and I honestly didn’t have that much trouble with it, like the only thing I’m dealing with is the heavy doors. And plus the 2015 Genesis are the worst ones because they rushed in making it.
How did you get Apple car play on yours? Mine doesn’t have it 😫😫
Update your navigation.
The bass isn't bad, it's just not the insane loud, overpowered bass people are used to. The sound system was tuned to be flat. Flat in all frequencies.
Man, There are so many problems in the car. My 2010 Accord looks like a gem. I know it is not as good looking as genesis is. But, My 2010 Accord is great
I have 2015 and I have all these same problems it is not near a Lexus quality. Nor do they have their own showroom. Do not use Lane Keep Assist in the rain it will get you in a wreck which is what happened to me. I do like the leather but it is not padded enough. My trunk springs are fine and my light bulbs are better than the ones in this video. Never had water in the truck problem. The trunk opens fine. The leveler for the trunk has disintegrated. My wipers work fine. Slam door close problem too and the doors make a weird noise. They are charging as if they had their showroom prices in the service and parts departments.
Which wired Apple CarPlay are you using?
Its actually from the factory! They were able to download apple CarPlay for me and it worked.
Hmmm, are you sure you have a 2015? You have a Genesis badge on the trunk. 2015 and 2016 have Hyundai badges on trunk. They didn't switch badges 'till 2017. Or did you rebadge it yourself?
If you're having a problem with the tail pipes you may need to see if you have a recall for the canisters I'm going to get my done in an hour that maybe the issue. And your seats don't fold because you don't have the V8. The seats on the V8 fold down
I wish you would have shown the plug you removed in the spare tire area to keep the water drained. My wife just bought a 2015 a month ago and I haven't had a chance to check for water after it has sat out in the rain yet. Of course I wouldn't have looked for water until I saw your video.
It’s right under the spare, you won’t be able to miss it since it’s large.
I was listening to your list and attempting to objective about all of it. I own a 2015 as well and I've had very few issues. My car has been well maintained and looks like it could have potentially rolled off the showroom floor. I heard your cosmetic complaints and from what I can see, it appears you don't mIntain it on a regular basis...example, your motor is filthy. When was the last time you ran some clay bar over that paint and have you used a ceramic coat. I very done all the above and it looks amazing. I use F11 about every 5th or 6th wash and wat a difference. I noticed you have driver seat wrinkles which is normal if you don't condition the leather. Yes the roof is a hot mess and yes to the lane assist and a def. yes to the irritating trunk lid.
I wonder if they improved these issues with the next generation. Especially the seat comfort.
I haven't been having these problems and this is my second Genesis
How do U Change the key. I don’t like the way mine look
whered you get that key?
Buddy custom made it for me.
Wack video you just wanted to complain about something. I'm a owner of a 2017 none of those issues 👎🏾
WOW !!! thank you for sharing these points. I buy used vehicles. man!!. so. for me to buy one of these. with this type of poor quality control. and poor use of material. it's not a pleasant thing to have. oh!! and the Dealer for servicing luxury vehicles!! their behavior is very unprofessional. I'm glad I knew that now. I'm a Toyota owner for the second time both bought them used. now I have a 2012 Toyota Venza. good quality engine oil change on time never late. I take very good care of it always waxed and cleaned V6 AWD. is awesome and reliable. but I like sedans a lot and that's why I was digging around the reliability of this Genesis. everything you mentioned is important to know. I can't believe it. they actually didn't care about their product quality
I have the same issue my seal is all broken up.
JHC. Sell the damn thing and buy something else. I don't have any of the problems you're having. I think you're just a natural complainer. Half the damn problems you're describing you should have identified BEFORE you purchased the car. And not replacing the pins????? How is that a problem with the car? Tell the dang dealership. I have a 2017 G80 I took delivery of in December 2016, and in the last 7 years I have not had one turn signal bulb burn out. My trunk springs open nicely. I did have to replace the trunk button seal, but they did it under warranty (5 years) and they also completely replaced the headlight housings, covers and lights because they just wanted them to be nice and bright. I didn't notice any problem with them, but now I have totally new headlight housings and all components. Never had water in the trunk.
I have mine 2015 Genesis i did had to replace the turn signal lights the paint is not the best but it is a great car and i love that i don't have to worry about breaking down this cart has taken me everywhere out of states . I do want to be new g70 beautiful car Genesis is stepping it up.
Where did you get that key fob. Btw it's not the trunk springs there's a damper/strut back there that wears down you can get one for the equus and it'll open a lot better. Just replace 1 with the power lifting strut or it'll fling your trunk up so fast and you'll need 2 people to close it.
I wanna know where he got the key from
I had a 2014 Titanium Ford 2 liter turbo that drink gas like that... it was suppose to save gas since it was a 4 cylinder... it still drunk gas like a V6 so that angered me...19 MPG avg... LOL
Amazing video bro. Thanks 🎉
