Is there a specific chapter I'm supposed to do this on? I have the luna tear and the elevator key and I already spoke to Emil. Yet the door stays red.
Try chapter Ch 07-01. You will need 9S to hack the locked chest containing Emil's Mask.

I dont have the game at the moment, someone borrow that from me. Anyway a brief explaination from memory:
System Chips: Default one
Attack Chips: Counter, Weapon Attack Up, Ranged Attack Up, Last Stand
Defense Chips: Max HP Up, Auto-Heal, Deadly-Heal
Support Chips: Moving Speed Up, Evade Range Up, Vengeance, Overclock
The level and the chips memory usage is depend on what available to you. If you have something that high level chip with a low cost, then use it or forged it into a more powerful and low memory usage (lowest possible).

emil's house door is red, cant open it. am i doing something wrong? i did emil's memories quest
You'll need to revisit his shop again on the 2nd playthrough. Or else the game will consider you still not meet him yet. Just talk to him once and you are good to go. 1:40
He always self destructs and insta kills me, but I noticed he didn't do it on this video. Is there a way of stopping this?
Attacking him from a distances like throwing spear, using pots and such. Also jumping and evading with slow motion. Hacking would help so much in a battles, since it will reset enemies behaviour and restore health with time.

You will need 9S to hack to box, so either route B or C as long you meet with Emil and done with Emil's memories sidequest. To have that option, you will need to enable "Online mode" option under system setting.

Ah, sorry. It seem that you will need to use 9S hack to open Emil's head treasure box. So only 9S can do this mission. I was confused with Emil's Determination sidequest.

I try to do it with 2B, I got the mask and I can't hack with 2B, so I switch to 9S and now how I have already the Emil's mask I can't stole it and Emil doesn't appear now
Never heard about this glitch yet. Perhaps you can try with chapter selection since it is practically reset everything. Try talking to Emil again?? he should reappear on the field every now and then.

Refresh the map by teleporting through the save point. He should be somewhere in the Ruins City.

Aww, man. That was super disappointing. I went through this whole thing only to beat him in like, twenty seconds. I thought he'd be god-like.
Good to know. He not that tough either. With a large damage damage output like yours he will be down in seconds. If you want to fought tough boss, beat him on route Y ending, that will be easily too if you take this fight within seconds.
Yeah, I got to level 99 with double weapon damage and healing strikes on fully upgraded weaponry. He was literally nothing. Guess I'm officially OP, yeah? lol
Level 99 is basically too OP for any booses in this game. If you want some challenge, play the hardest difficulty, and a low level if possible. I want to do this but someone borrowed my game till this day and still not beaten it yet. The 1-hit game over difficulty I mean.

It was lol, but as I seen his health drain pretty fast, so I just press X and stay away from those bodies.

lmao i tied doing this at level 64 and I can't even damage him. even when I hack him, it does so little damage that it doesn't even show the red damage indicator when I successfully do it
Maybe upgrading your weapons, bots and using chips that increase output damage will help.
have most weapons in game maxed out, two Pods at level 2 and the Starting one at level 3. For everything else i do decent damage I guess. What's a good strategy for fighting him/chips to use as 9S?
That was totally fine. I suggest using Ranged Attack Up, Evade Range Up, Overclock and Auto-Heal for the chips will do. Just keep an eye for his upcoming attack and proceed to attack him from a range. Throwing spear work well too.
