- This one is easily the most difficult and annoying one to do properly. It involves many steps and if you already finished Emil's quests, you've missed your chance for this ending and must start over with a new save.
Getting started, you will want to have finished the quest Emil's Memories and preferably have already acquired all Weapons in the game. These are both requirements for this ending.

I'm glad, I've noticed a bunch of people skip around in the video and then complain about missing it in the comments. I was very specific in my warning about not completing the quest.

The idea is that it’s missable off you defeat him before the countdown AND you save over the file you have before you started the fight

I had to start a new save file because I missed it on my first one. It was fun replaying the game after 2 years
I had to do the boss fight three times because the first time I accidentally killed the last Emil by swinging before the timer even started, second I accidentally pressed lb to turn off my music on Spotify after I needed music during the annoying second run, but I accidentally killed the Emil again. I think I’m special
Edit: 4 times. Forget getting the ending loads your last save

Unfortunately, yeah... A great spot to grind I would recommend is either the desert area where you fought Adam for the first time.
The enemies there spawn infinitely, but if they are too weak, go to the entrance of the amusement park. Hit the rabbit statue over and over until it comes to life. You'll get a ton of exp for it. Although, it's more for exp than anything else.
You can always go to the super secret shop

Word to those who just run and gun without paying attention to any storyline. Not every game is for everyone though, but it’s a high probability you didn’t finish the game and just quit before the actual storyline began to unfold for you.
As a Nier automata 6 years fan,I can confirm: yes this is really a weird game
Very impressed that people managed to get here. After enjoying 50 hours of play I nearly cried learning that my lvl57 9s couldn’t kill the first Emil. I don’t wanna grind levels for 20 hours to be strong enough to do this bloody thing 😢
The grind isn't bad if you know where to grind. There are a couple of infinite spawn locations that make for great material hunting/exp farm spots. For example the complex in the desert where we fought Adam.
The easiest way to max out your level for sure would be to attack the bunny statue at the entrance to the amusement park section. It you do enough damage to it quickly enough, it'll wake up and attack you and grant you a RIDICULOUS amount of experience points. I only had to fight it like 3 maybe 4 times to reach level 100. However, you will need to rank up higher than lvl 57 to even wake it up. You'll need to get into the 70s to even have a chance.

@@fullyarns of course, no problem. If I may add as well. If you have the DLC, play through the arena modes to make your level up phase more interesting and rewarding. There are a few unlockable cosmetics and very surprising boss battles if you manage to make it to the end.
@@Longardia yea that sounds like a plan, after I calmed down I remembered I still have like 20 quests and the dungeons to do 😂 I was playing along for the story so hard I forgot the gameplay is a good time on it’s own😂

As long as you have gotten chapter select unlocked, you can always swap. Just keep in mind any unfinished quest progress will reset when you do make the switch. Also, for future reference, at the beginning of each of my videos, I add the chapter I start on indicating which character I'm playing as. While the character you play isn't always important, I always include the chapter so that people know where to start and who to play.
Granted, in this video I did put both 9s and 2b in the highlighted chapter making 9s bigger than 2b. Because this ending can be achieved with both characters, however 9s is necessary for at least one step of the process.

After completing Emil’s memories and obtaining all the weapons and upgrading them to max level I went to Emil’s home to take the mask, then after getting Emil’s unique dialogue regarding an intruder I tried to return to Emil’s home but the door is locked, I followed every step up till this point. Could it be that after taking the mask I had to switch to 9S and that messed it up? (In chapter 7.1 btw) do I have to start a new game?
I highly recommend you do this whole process with 9s because you need to hack the chest in Emil's home. If I remember correctly, when you switch chapters, progress on all quests not finished will reset.
You likely just have to start the process again and talk to Emil. (Visit the home for the first time after getting your invitation)
So make sure you have every weapon before starting this quest?
@@tha3immortals Doesn't require to have all weapons when starting quest, but it is good to have since you will need to upgrade all weapons (even those you didn't yet obtained) to max (upgrade lvl 4).

So I’m on route B atm, and I just completed Emil’s memories. According to the internet ending Y is the only one that’s truly missable so I wanted to make sure I get everything correct. I’m level 46 atm, so I haven’t even bothered going to his residence. I’d assumed it would be ideal for me to come back using chapter select once I’m around Emil’s level. I’m unsure if I should even go to his residence now, or simply do the whole quest during chapter select. Any tips would be greatly appreciated
Without chapter select, you will be limited to using only 9S to do all the fighting. It's entirely doable, just harder. I would definitely recommend returning to this mission after you unlock chapter select and level up a bit more. The missable aspect of this ending comes at the very end of the mission so make sure you save often and use at least two save slots just in case you mess up.

@@alifnaufalmaulana6156 yes, I wouldn't recommend attempting this ending without chapter select unlocked anyway. Just keep in mind that when using chapter select all unfinished quest progress will reset and you'll have to start over. Luckily quests are pretty short though.

So I did the Lunar tear quest, then the fight with car Emil, both with 9s. After playing for a while I upgraded all weapons to lvl. 4, as A2, but when I went to the shopping mall he was absent? Did I mess it up somehow?
The way I have been recommending people switch characters is as follows, complete everything as 9s and start the final part by confronting emil in the shopping mall where he runs away as 9s as well. Then chapter select. The part in the shopping mall counts as a different side quest. So the quest progress should revert back to the point where you confront him in the mall and not further back.
This way will allow you to complete everything in one go without having to redo anything. Based on what you have told me, it sounds like you did everything right, but worst case scenario, you will have to restart the process. Luckily it should be easier this time around since you're much stronger.
This part of the process with people switching characters part way through has always been finicky and this happens to many people so you're not alone.

Question.... So I did all of the steps shown in this video, got all my weapons, they’re all maxed. But I can’t seem to trigger the side quest at the mall to pop up... I’m also lvl 92 and I’m only missing this ending... so I’m not sure why it’s not showing it... any advice?
UPDATE: I think I figured it out... I think I need to not chapter switch after beating him in front of his house?? Is this accurate?
When you use chapter select, it erases your unfinished side quest progress.
Longardia yeah lol I didn’t think the quest was considered to be “unfinished” after you beat him the 1st time. But I guess it makes sense. How do people get to do this with A2 tho?
@@psychokud.4926 sorry for the late reply, you'll need to start emil's determination as your character of choice after you have collected all the weapons (and upgraded them). The one difficult one is the one in emil's home that requires you to get to his home as 9S. Just complete everything as 9S until you start Emil's Determination and you should be fine.
If that doesn't work, you'd have to redo the whole process having already upgraded and found all weapons as you character of choice.
If there is another way, I personally don't know it.
To reach this ending, you must be in run B, or, after completing the main runs (and achieving ending E), you can try to grind and reach ending Y?
To get this ending you will need to have finished ending A. You don't need to get a,b,c,d and e to get this ending. Only A is required, although unlocking chapter select helps a lot

It's a reward for completing part of the dlc for this game. The dlc comes with three arena modes (one for each character) + an extra ending. Each character has a dlc outfit they can unlock by playing these arena modes

After I got all the balls beaten I came up to the emil and there was no cooldown the game just asked me do I wanna save or not

So after emil goes to the desert after I fight him, am I able to switch characters? Or will that reset the sidequest
Emils determination is the last of the quest chain, once that mission starts, you should be safe to use chapter select. I would still drop a save just in case, especially just before the final fight as if you mess up the final fight, ending Y becomes unobtainable.
So I have to finish route C before I can get ending Y? Since you said I need to obtain all weapons?
It's doable on route B, but absolutely not recommended. This ending is one of the last ones the designers intended you to get.

Depends, how much of a completionist are you? And, how much do you enjoy the combat of the game. If it gets repetitive, not at all.
The fact that you're asking this question probably means the answer is "no" in your case. There is no reward for getting every ending beyond personal satisfaction.

I mean I loved the game all the time, it woke up so many emotions that I still wanted to try my best on the current difficult I'm playing on (hard) I enjoy combat, but my problem is the time, I won't have the game for much more and I won't be able to afford it in a while, so many hours of grind are waiting for me now, thanks for the video and your references to grind guides, and weapon guides, and your efforts as well, I bet this video took a long time in the making, thanks
@@many3226 you could always lower the difficulty to speed up the grinding process, then crank it back up once you max out. But if you still don't think that'll be enough, as long as you got endings a,b,c,d,e and the secret ending through the DLC, you've seen 95% of what the game has to offer.

@@many3226 depends on your level. If you are under 50, the desert area where you first fought Adam (infinite spawn Location),
Or, if you're at least level 65 or 70, the rabbit statue at the amusement park entrance is the largest single lump sum of exp in the game. To wake it up, you need to do enough damage within a short period of time. It might take a few minutes to wake it up if your level isn't high enough.
You can get from level 75 to max in less than an hour easily if you kill that rabbit enough times!
Well i killed Emil and didn't get the ending. Now i have a Save file with all endings (even the triangle) except the ending Y. That's unfortunate you can't play the Quest again. Now i have to stare at my Save file and Cry. (I will not create a new game i put over 50 hours in it)
I accidently killed emil in the end rather then waiting for the countdown. Is there a possibilty to redo the whole quest in the same safe file?
Quests once completed stay completed. Unless you have a back up save file, you will not be able to go back and get the ending.
i don't understand, i "killed him" and when i go to the shopping center, Emil don't appear. (i've tried to do the quest 2 times but nothing changed)

I mentioned in the video that this ending is missable if you kill him. If you finish the quest it autosaves and there is no going back without a back up save file.
If you let him explode like in the video, it'll kill you too giving you your ending this allowing you to redo that final fight if you saved your game like I recommended.

It worked! I tried making 2B passive towards the end (used the game menu to switch her mode) right towards the end when Emil starts talking (and not using missiles, they have a bit of a delay so I thought that might be an issue).

Thanks for such a detailed guide. I wanted to ask something though. After upgrading all the weapons to max, can I save the game and do a chapter select to complete the quest as A2? Cuz ya know... it’d be much easier to defeat the huge heads as her, imo 😅
I'm not 100% certain, but I do believe that works fine. When you do chapter select, the only thing that doesn't carry over is mission progress, including side missions.
I think what you're suggesting is what most people do anyway.

So I finished Emils memories, and currently working on getting all weapons and upgraded. Once after that I talk to Emil(might have reseted), go to his house 2 times, fight him on the second time. Do you have any tips for that? Along with a good weapon combo + Chips. I hardly fight as 9S as he only carries 1 weapon. Once I defeat him, talk to him at the mall and meet at the desert. Once I destroy his clones, I LET THE LAST ONE EXPLODE, in order to get ending Y. Will that delete my data/ can I go back to the same datsI really don’t wanna mess up on my first data.
Its been a while, but which weapon you use doesn't matter so much as long as your character's level is really high. Leveling up your weapon helps a lot too. My favorite pod program for sure was the hammer since it appeared to deal the most damage when it hit it's target fully charged.
If you need to grind head to the desert where you first fought adam, or go to the amusement park entrance and fight the giant bunny statue if you're around level 75. I wouldn't take on the Emil unless you are at least level 85.
Your data will not reset. You have the correct idea though. Defeat Emil and when the countdown begins, just let the timer run out. Do not finish him off once that timer starts. It'll complete the mission and you won't be able to do the quest again.
If you let the timer run out, you'll for sure get ending Y and you'll respawn back at your most recent save. That's why I recommend saving before the fight so that you won't lose progress.
I recommend getting ending Y, then doing the fight for real and completing the quest on your second attempt.

How do i get my plug in chips from when i die because it puts me in the fight when i dont wanna so it
Your plus in chips should be on the ground near where you died most recently. However the will disappear if you die again. Being replaced with the chips equiped in that second life but again where you died the second time. Its essentially the same rules as dark souls.
Cant find him at 4 minutes part. Hes not showing after a get this mask.
However, with A2 last chapter he showed.

I'm not really sure what the problem could be. There are several different places he could spawn. If you use chapter select at any point before finishing the quest your progress with that quest will reset.
He should always spawn somewhere within the main city hub. I'd recommend using fast travel to possibly reset his spawn.

Upgrading the weapons is a prerequisite to finish the quest. If you can't start the quest from where I do in the video you probably didn't complete Emil's memories. That quest is a prerequisite to this one so make sure you have that one finished, then use chapter select to go to this particular chapter (07-01) and follow the steps in the video

What chapter is this? Restarting from chapter again. I've finished game and this is last ending and bonus ending
Chapter 7-1 reporting to pascal. I always put the chapter I started at for these videos at the begining.

You don't need to be max character level no, but it certainly helps.

After completing either route C or D, as it unlocks chapter select. It's "doable" on route B, but much more difficult. This is meant to be one of the last things you do in the game. I wouldn't even recommend attempting it unless you're at least level 85

Yeah, of course. Just make sure you complete "Emil's Memories" otherwise you won't have access to the quest line in this video.
Also keep in mind, Quests you COMPLETE will save when using chapter select. But if you only halfway complete a quest before using level select, your progress on said quest will reset.

so I’m on my ending C/D playthrough. I started the quest but didn’t finish it as I’m too underleveled to fight him. If I use chapter select to go back I’ll still be able to do the quest right? It’ll just reset to the first part where I have to talk to him on the surface and then go to his house and steal from him again?
Exactly. All side quests that are unfinished will reset when you jump between chapters.

I am currently on route B and have missed it. (I'm entering the part where Eve causes the machines to go rampant). Where do I go from here and what do you suggest?
You might as well power through and finish route B and Route C or D to unlock chapter select. Or do you need help with this specific part?

I'm currently trying to max all my weapons but can't find meteorites. Any suggestion where they may be or the best farming spot ?
If you have completed Route C/D you can buy them from the halfwit inventor assuming you finished his side quest. You can find him on the long 2D scroll section between the amusement park and the robot village in the forest.

Only if you have another save prior to getting that ending. There is no way to repeat the mission on your current save file.

How do you make your HP bar to regenerate?
There are a couple different plug in chips that you can equip that have healing effects. Auto heal, damage heal, etc. I don't remember what I used, but I definitely had more than one.
Can i do this quest without chapter select? Cause i have unlocked chapter select now but i want to make a new final playthrought get this ending and also ending E and then sacrifice my data. Can i do this quest without chapter select? And if yes with 2B 9S or A2?
You can, but you'll have to do it on route B without messing up make sure you have a backup save file just in case.

@@G_Kostop In order to use other characters besides 9S, you'll want to use chapter select. 9S is required because of the locked chest in Emil's home. I suppose it may be possible to do the final fight on route C/D. assuming you already collected all the weapons prior to starting route C/D. But I have never tried to simply wait out the game instead of just using chapter select.

@@G_Kostop I'd recommend at least level 80, but if you're that high anyway, just grind out the last few levels by taking out the giant rabbit statue in the amusement park. It'll give you an insane amount of exp.
If you don't know what I'm referring to, the statue of a rabbit just past the entrance to the amusement park will come to life if you do enough damage to it. It might take a while depending on your level.

Unfortunately, without another save to go back to, quests stay completed. There is no way to redo finished quests. (Without starting over)
This is why I put a warning in my video to save before the final fight so progress wouldn't be lost.
Bro i ended up killing him before the timer reached zero and now the quest won't respawn, any idea how to help?
Unless you saved prior to finishing the mission there is no way to undo completing the quest. Quests once completed on any run, will stay completed. Sorry, but unless you have a save prior, you'd have to start a new save file.

i don't understand why i can't trigger emil's line about someone stealing from him. im lvl 99, i went to his house and stole the mask but when i came out, he was nowhere to be seen. i loaded the game many times but he just wasnt anywhere. so i thought that maybe i was in the wrong chapter (i was at 17.01) so i switched to 7.01. i saw emil, yet he didnt say his new line (even though his mask was still in my inventory). can someone help me? i have 100% on almost everything on this save and i rly dont wanna miss an ending
Well, considering you used chapter select to switch to 7.01 your quest progress likely reset. Any unfinished side quests will reset when you use chapter select. You might have to try and back track a bit. Confront him out in the central city area.

You can, but it would complete the quest and make the ending un-obtainable. (Without a previous save)

Idk what went wrong, but whenever I fight emil when he punishes me, and I pick up his stuff, when I get back to the surface he spawns and tells me someone broke in, making me repeat it over and over again. I have all my weapons maxed out and I’m playing as 9s
You're not using chapter select are you? That's the only thing that I can think of that would reset progress
@@Longardia I used chapter select to get to 7-1 and followed the guide from there. Then after I got his heads I maxed em out and he spawned again

If that's the case the game has to be bugged. I would recommend restarting the quest from the beginning (using chapter select). Since you already have all the weapons, you'd be able to play as any character at least

Wait do we have to do this our first 9s play through? I thought you couldn't go back and retrigger this if you used chapter select.
You don't have to do it on your first playthrough of route B. However, you will need to use 9S for at least part of it.
i got hit by emil once, and died instantly. even though i play on Hard, and not extreme, what the hell. Can someone explain that to me? It also happens in those flight levels like the in the prologue ... weird ....
This is one of the games that actually is "Hard" on "Hard" difficulty. Make sure You're taking advantage of the plugin chip system to upgrade your android. Otherwise the only way to get stronger is by grinding to a higher level.

If you have chapter select unlocked it should be an easy fix. I would recommend attempting it until you have.

Unfortunately, yes. Not sure why this is a requirement, but it doesn't take as long as you might think. If you check the wiki page, you can find farming spots for every item you need to upgrade your weapons.

You need him to unlock the chest in Emils hideout. After you complete that specific quest, (before the final fight in the desert) then you can switch to whoever you want. Or you'll have to redo the previous quest. Whenever you use chapter select to switch characters, all unfinished quest progress is reset.
So I'm not sure if I screwed myself, I maxxed every weapon in the game before doing any of emils quests. Am I just screwed now

Surprisingly not, so my process was to get every weapon to max, then I realised to get the ending it was to do emils quests. I have got the elevator key now, but Emil wont spawn. I have been using chapter select a few times

@@twnte_8399Okay, they might be saying not to worry about it until a certain point where it becomes necessary. I don't think upgrading weapons early will lock you out of getting the ending. However, using chapter select will reset unfinished quest progress, so if you already spoke with him and got access to his underground home and at some point used chapter select before finishing the quest, then the quest itself resets and you'll need to speak with him above ground again first.

I had a problem. I have leveling all my weapons up to maximum but i do this for the fight in emils Cave and i cant play the Y ending is this a bug?
Did you by chance happen to use chapter select at any point while doing this whole process?
It's also possible a step was missed. Maybe there's a weapon you haven't found, did you max out the weapons using the robot blacksmith?
@@Longardia I have all weapons 100% and all on lvl 4=max lvl, and yes i have been used the chapter select to switch in a chapter with emil and kill him in his cave
@@robroyroyrob1245 that would likely be the reason then. If quests are unfinished when you use chapter select, quest progress resets.
I recommend doing the whole thing as 9S, but if you need to switch, make sure it's after you start the final quest in the quest line. That way you can be sure everything up till you starting the quest where you have to find/fight him in the desert.

@@robroyroyrob1245 the Chapter you do this quest on only matters as far as the quest being available (which is impossible for me to recall at the moment) and the character you want to play being available. (This aspect doesn't matter so much)
I'm referring to the side quest itself where you fight Emil in the cave. When that quest ends and you start the quest where you fight him in the desert, that's where you should use it. Just make sure the quest is finished in your quest log before using chapter select. All unfinished quests will reset.
What weapons and pod programs would you recommend?
For the final fight? That's entirely subjective. Considering the distance will vary often though I probably would use the OG pod for the consistent accurate damage. I've always been a fan of the hammer for my program since it's does so much damage and is satisfying. Weapons though don't matter too much since they will all be max upgraded anyway. I tended to play a little bit of everything and I'm not sure what is considered top tier. There are other videos on UA-cam for that.
Can someone help me because I can't trigger this boss fight again for some reason. The first time I follow the steps and beated him but I didn't know about the y ending so I'm trying to do it a second time and for some reason he's not appearing at the mall he just rides around again on the map and keeps mentioning that somebody broke into his home and took his stuff over and over again.
Once you complete the quest properly, you can't redo it. I mentioned in my video how this ending is missable. You need to fail the fight during the countdown to get the ending. Unless you have another save file previous to the final confrontation, you won't be able to get ending Y.

I'm not sure if difficulty makes a difference, but I wouldn't recommend doing this quest line on anything lower than 75. You'll have to grind. There are a couple infinite spawn locations you could hang around in for a bit. But once you're in the 70s go to the rabbit statue at the entrance of the amusement park. If you deal enough damage to it quick enough, you'll wake it up. Destroying it will net you an immense amount of XP. You'll hit max level in under 30 minutes.
What happens if you destroy the last emil head before it explodes.
You complete the quest as intended.

I'm not sure, as far as I know that fight should not have any trick to it. If he's one shoting you, he's either hitting you with his 'judgement day' attack or you level is just too low. You shouldn't attempt the fight under level 70. You'll keep your sanity that way.

Did you at any point happen to use chapter select? If you use it before you finish a quest line. That quest's progress will reset. Check to make sure your quest progress matches what it should.

@@slurmp5109 there are a lot of requirements for starting the last of three (Technically two with some stuff in between) questlines in this ending. Most importantly that you complete "Emil's memories" then follow the psuedo questline I explained in this video until you begin the last quest "Emil's determination" which I assume you are having trouble finding. If you used chapter select prior to starting Emil's Determination your progress most likely reset and you will have to find him again driving around and start over.
Also make sure you have found every weapon and maxed out their upgrades, it's easy to miss one.

If you haven't saved over your current file, then reload your save.
Otherwise, no. Unless you have another save to reload, you won't be able to. Quests stay finished once complete and you can't replay them.
I really wish you said that you need to be basically level 99 to even attempt this ending. I'm level 61 and I can't do any damage to him at all. Two hits and I'm dead. Welp, time to grind I guess
This is definitely an "end game" quest that the developers expected you to complete last. A really good grind spot, once you get into the 70s, is at the entrance to the amusement park. Just whack the rabbit statue a few times. Your attacks have to do enough damage within a short period of time to "wake it up". If you manage to destroy it, it gives an enormous amount of EXP.

The games base difficulty also matters. There's a big difficulty difference between normal and hard difficulty. I'd never suggest fighting Emil at level 49.
I am level 99.
If you need to level up I know several easy ways to power level. Especially once you hit level 70+ there's an enemy that will give you so much XP that you'll reach level 99 in under 20 minutes.

You didn't use chapter select at any point before finishing the mission did you? If you use chapter select even to just switch characters, quest progress on unfinished quests will reset. You might have to redo the first few steps. That could be it, not sure tho...

To be safe, I would start Emil's determination (meeting Emil in the shopping center) then chapter select so you know for certain Emil's memories has been finished.

@@kattt3474 yes, but don't chapter switch till you start Emil's determination or it'll all reset. You'll have all the stuff you need, but you'll have to fight him the first time again. Not too big of an issue considering your level, but still time consuming.

@Reza Pahlevi Yes, just be aware that all unfinished quests will reset when you use chapter select. Just make sure you only use chapter select after finishing the quest leading up to the final fight. Otherwise, you'll have to restart the whole Emil process shown throughout this video.

You're under leveled for sure. This is end game content, one of the last things the devs expected you to complete. There are several good grind spots available that could have you at max level in an hour or so though.

Are you hitting him while his shield is up? I know during the end phase of the fight when you fight his heads individually, he should the heads you've already beaten and you can't deal damage to them.

You should get Japanese voice on. Eng dub sounds lame, not to mention subtitle is already there.
80%+ of my audience come from English speaking countries, this makes sense considering I use English text to guide my viewers. So for recordings I keep English voices on. I don't know what the Japanese voices sound like for this game, but I have heard the Japanese soundtrack which was stellar.
