Dilute sealant with a bit of white spirit to make it thinner. Penetrates fabric and stitches better and makes it easy to clean away excess without leaving any mess. Great review and tent. I have lanshan 2 with 3 and 4 seasons inners. Love it, but can be a bit of pain to pitch if very windy.
I've heard that before but I haven't tried it. I'd be hoping that I wouldn't have to seam seal many more tents 😄 I love my Lanshan 2 with the 4 season inner, I'll be getting it back out soon hopefully 🤞
I have the Lanshan 2 pro. Seam sealing was straightforward using the supplied brush. I replaced the pegs and have configured the door pegging out as per some other videos. Condensation isn’t generally an issue. Love the inside space.
I just found your channel and watched this video because I have my eye on this tent. I appreciate your direct and detailed review and also the fact that you don't ramble on and on. Thank you. Cheer mate.
Nice Job man. Brilliant bit of kit. Would love to try out the Lanshan 2. Would really love to see what kind of wind it can handle. For the size of it and the weight its amazing. Nice Job. 🙂
This should be better in the wind than the original because of the tear resistance of the fly sheet and the reinforced patches for the tie outs. it's a nice tidy tent, cheers man 👍
Haha..you've got yourself another Lanshan! I love (&hate..but mainly love) these tents! As a fellow backpacker with reoccurring back problems; weight has to be a priority. And these tents; which are far from perfect in many ways, (no tent ticks every box) definitely and massively tick the "not gonna break your back" box..haha I have the Lanshan 1, like yourself..but would like to try the 2. This great post will have me having a look at trying to find a second hand one before the spring arrives. Great post Jason, thanks buddy!
I love/hate the lanshan 1 Pro but looking back, it was my main tent this year. I thought it would be interesting to give this one a go. Hopefully you will find one at a good price 🤞
awesome video, i bought the lanshan 2 pro on sale on aliexpress and its coming in 20 days. didint know i needed to bring my own poles to pitch it, i ma bit bummed because i dont want to spend more money but this vid did save me from not having them
Good review! I have the Lanshan 2 (not the pro). I have been happy with it. You do need to make sure your trekking poles are seated properly at the top of the tent. If you don’t, you can knock them down getting in. A royal pain when you get out to pee in the middle of the night! I have also just used sticks instead of the hiking poles. Works great.
Oh yeah I have done that a few times myself, it can be a right pain 😄 I think they may have sorted that with this version. I will have to do a comparison video now that I have the Lanshan 2 and the Lanshan 2 pro version. The sticks are great and the original is definitely a more versatile tent
Nice review. I have the 1 Person version. I bought it directly from 3FUL and paid $35 for them to factory seal seal. It's an awesome tent and lots of room for all my gear inside the tent itself. I only leave my shoes in the vestibule. I'd like the 2 person, but some of my trails are very rustic and the smaller the footprint the better to squeeze into a tight spot. Be sure to tell us what you think of it!
I heard about that service, you can order it as a separate item. It's a pity that they don't supply other companies with sealed versions to sell as an option. That way you can shop around to get the best rice instead of having to order direct from 3FUL . That is a big benefit of the Lanshan 1, I might do a comparison video. I have both tents so if it is something that would help people out I am happy to do that. Either way I'll let you know what I think of this one once I get it out and about 😁
Great video Jason another Lanshan thumbs up from your viewer comments too. Lovely looking tent, I'm just not a fan of single skin as I don't enjoy the condensation 😳 Looking well again mate and good to see you getting some videos out again. 👍😊
Thanks Lee, the single skin has it's benefits but as you know I am also not a fan of condensation. I have a love/hate relationship with the Lanshan 1 Pro for the same reasons. It's great to be back out and getting into the swing of things again. I was even out camping last night, it was horrendous 😄 I still loved it 😁 I hope all is good with you man 👍
Fast, no nonsense review….much better than ‘rambling on’ for ages saying the same thing. 😂 That tent will freeze da balls of ya sir, it is basically a tarp. Sold mine for the regular L2 4 season.
😂 I hadn't considered my balls, I must add that in to the long term review 😄I thought it would be cool to try. I have the original lanshan 2 with the 4 season inner which I love so I might compare the two
Great review 👌Looks like a cracker tent in so many ways but the condensation issue (plus the need to seam seal) really puts me off. Shame too as it's so light and roomy. Hope to see you out camping in it soon 🤞💪
Cheers Niall.. I've had dark thoughts about my Lanshan 1 Pro because of condensation 😄 I still used it more than any other tent this year. I'll take this one out over the summer and see how it goes. I've two other new tents to use this winter 😁
Great, now my obsession w/ getting one of these tents & trekking poles starts afresh. Wife was just shooting down my sound logic & reasoning; it does seem she's working against me on this one. Perhaps this is partly due to the fact that I recently purchased a new tent... Oh well, she'll come around eventually.
😄 She'll come around, just give it time... Wait for her to treat herself then BAM, oh look that tent is on sale.... Works every time 😄 I am very interested to hear what new tent you bought.. I have also bought a new tent as of yesterday, another trekking pole tent 😁
@@RamblingOn I bought the Tegimen hammock hot tent, which is a palace. Not for backpacking unless it's a short distance/ multiple trips carrying in gear ... lots more car camping opportunities here in Oregon than Ireland. I love being able to stand up and walk around in a heated tent... it's pretty sweet. And thank you for the brilliant bit of tactic there ;)
@@johndoe-lr9if At least you know that if you decide to buy another tent and end up in the dog house. It can easily be upgraded to a tiny house with a wood burning stove 😄
Hi, really good review thanks, i have my eye on this tent but can someone explain me difference between 3 and 4 season? Isn't 3 season one better? Because of 20D nylon?
4 season is a mostly solid inner which means there is very little mesh. It reduces the draughts and the effects of the wind chill. That is the main difference. It does not make the tent a true 4 season as the outer flysheet doesn't contact the ground. I wouldn't pay much attention in this case to the 15 and 20 denier as the function of the inners and what you need for the camping that you do is more important. Mesh for better ventilation in hotter weather/climates which helps reduce but not eliminate condensation, solid for cooler conditions where the wind chill would make things uncomfortable inside the tent. Apologies for the delay in getting back to you
Thank you very much for reply, you helped me a lot, it is really helpful to hear that from active user. After your info i decided for 3 season and bought it today. Thank a lot again.
It really depends on what you want it for. The original is a better all rounder and more versatile as you can swap out the inners. The pro version is lighter with minor upgrades and more interior space but with more condensation problems. Both are nice tents, but if I had to chose I would go with the original and the 4 season inner to help reduce drafts
I own the original lanshan 2 with a 4 season inner. I haven't had any issue with condensation in that tent and I have used it a lot. You can chose between a 3 season or 4 season inner. You can also buy both and swap them depending on what conditions you will be camping in or remove them completely and just use the fly sheet. It weighs approx 1.2kg if memory serves me right. Here is a video for it ua-cam.com/video/ljV74iVU9uw/v-deo.html
I don't but I have the original Lanshan 2 which has held up well in bad weather. The Pro version has two additional tie outs, reinforced peaks and a higher tear resistance than the original so it should perform even better. I have a lanshan 1 pro and that is excellent in the wind
While I like this tent, the size, the colour and the quality, they should offer a sealed and none sealed version and the customer takes their choice. Also, the condensation issue is another problem, this seems to produce a lot of it, in comparison to other tents. But it is a good tent.
I mentioned the exact same thing to another viewer. It would make a lot of sense and honestly I think a lot of people would be happy to pay the little extra for the sealed version. It should be widely available too so that each person has the option to shop around for the best prices. Condensation is definitely a downside to this tent. I know from my Lanshan 1 Pro how bad it can be but I still go back to that tent, it's a love/hate relationship that we have 😄
@roastntoast7550 If you are going for 4 seasons, then I wouldn't recommend either tent. The pro is a stronger tent but would be very bad for condensation in a four season version. The original lanshan isn't wonderful in the wind and the flysheet really holds onto the water, which makes it sag quite a lot. Plus, it's not a ripstop material. I'd be more inclined to look at a tent like the MLD Duomid
@@RamblingOn Thank you very much for the time you took to answer. I got it now. I would use the tent until late fall since it's not really a four season tent. The price, size and weight ratio is really unbeatable, it is currently available on Ali Express for 110-120 euros. I think I will take the Lanshan 2 Pro because according to your information it is more robust and more resistant to the wind. Many greetings from Germany and thank you again for your answer.
@roastntoast7550 It is hard to argue with the price 😄 Here is a tent that I have really enjoyed using. It might be worth a look. Although not without its flaws, the price at he minute is very good. backpackinglight.dk/brands/luxe-outdoors/luxe-outdoor-mini-peak-ii-tent
I have a question which one would do you think is best the regular 3F UL Gear Lanshan 2 or the pro which one is more waterproof if you don't mind me asking anyway keep up the amazing videos I am newly subscribed to your channel and your channel is very awesome
I prefer the regular. The Pro version has a better tear resistance but a less hydrostatic head rating. As the pro version is a single skin condensation will be an issue. It will be difficult to stop your gear from touching the fly sheet and which will result in them getting wet. The regular having the separate inner gives you that barrier to protect your gear and it also does better with condensation. It is a slightly heavier tent than the pro but each tent has their pro's and cons. I'm delighted that you are enjoying the channel, I have three videos to edit at the moment and more on the way 😁⛺
