      @MARSHA POWERS A smile back at ya for your kind words. I found "was a drummer" to be an interesting choice of words. If you ever have the opportunity to build a home there's a worthwhile additional expense in adding insulation to every interior wall, ceiling and floor. We raised 3 sons without having to ask them to be quiet when they're not wearing their space suits.
      Cheers for the Great White North.

      the ways provided here are not really helpful.
      the first and the cheapest way of soundproofing is to seal the gap for the windows, doors with the "closed cell foam".

    My advice after hours of watching more videos about cheap soundproofing:
    1. Start with easy things like adding a door sweep, sealing gaps with acoustic sealant, heavy curtains, one video even claimed putting heavy 'soft' furniture against your wall helps lessen the vibrations of it.
    2. if you are allowed to put screws in your walls (and they are straight) MUCH better than using mattrasses, fabric or even reinsulating: buy 5/8" (1,6cm) thick drywall, put some green glue on it, then glue and screw it to your wall. It only takes off 2cm of your wall, is clean, not expensive and not as hard as it sounds especially if with 2 people. Only downside is the screws and I suppose its not that easy to remove. Ceiling is possible too.
    3. acoustic panels are a waste of money unless you use them for sound treating which is something else entirely

  • @aba22125
    @aba22125 3 роки тому +11

    Look guys, if you want to soundproof something you'll need to add thick materials to your walls/ceiling/floors and leave no gap unsealed. It's no joke. That's the only way u'll have good soundproofing

    You can buy new moving blankets pretty cheap and they are thick and heavy. They absorb a lot of sound. You can also use them to deaden a room's reverb when it affects recording quality. I bought several for about $8 each at Harbor Freight.

    Door Sound Proofing Idea: A door frame that goes over the door frame -- a metal hinge screwed into a stud near the door hinges themselves (but some rubber washers perhaps and a rubber sheathing between the hinge and the new frame). The frame will be an insulated box with foam. The idea is that the frame will shell the door's size exactly plus an inch on all four sides. Then around the shell frame, wrap it with an inch or two of insulation so that also it touches outside of the cracks of the door to trap the sound coming through the 4 spaces around the door. Thoughts?

    so ive just recently moved in with my mom again, my house is big but the walls are thin and ppl can hear everything i say in my room all the way from first floor. i realised that i cant voice act with her around (i do leeewd voice acting) or even call my discord friends cuz we tend to talk about mad tingz yknow. ive barely called my friends/done voice acting the past 3 months and im at my limit so no matter how much it costs im boutta make my room hella SOUNDPROOF.

    Cheap and easy sound baffles from 1X2 wooden frames and about 6 cotton towels work very well. You can hang them up like a picture but I recommend you make them free standing. If you do the "roomception" method do your best to suspend the inner room to maximize the effectiveness. Thanks for the video! You get a free sub my man :)

    So I am looking for some info. Been hunting around and can't really get some advice. I am remodeling and I am thinking of making a great theater room right under my master bedroom. I need it to be silent even at 90-110 decibels. You think it is possible?

    I think I'm going to have to go with the room-ception option. I'm going to build a smaller room around my setup with wooden pallets, staple rubber mattes to the inner walls and the line the inner walls with sound foam. I'm also going to fill the inside of the pallets with sound foam and staple rubber mattes to the outside of the pallets. Does this sound like a good solution?
