I've seen multiple videos - usually by auditors - where police men and women brazenly use their phones while at the wheel, usually when calling for backup. I have no idea if anything came of it but I'd be surprised if it did. They'll play the "I was using the phone for what I believed to be an emergency" card.
Now we all know why they don't like people to take a photo of their number plates, because some of them drive their cars with no MOT TAX and insurance and get away with it. Its a bit like when they park on Double Yellows is it not. They can't get away with it much longer now.

I think I remember this station. Isn't this the one where Kolee got detained by two female PCSO's? They claimed that even filming into the restricted area was unlawful so they wanted him to ID. After some kerfuffle and eventually a sgt showing up he was 'set free' without ID-ing. I guess they learned from that experience.

Wow, it's not as if this station hasn't been audited so many times before. The Plastic plod at the start had a few policy problems and recording you for his safety was a bit strange, maybe he shouldn't be in uniform, if he is so afraid of a member of the public with a camera. If you check the Land Registry, which is how its done you will find that the legal owner of the station and it's land is the Police and Crime Commissioners Office, not "the general public". We, the people, don't own anything that our taxes pay for. Morally, you might think we do, but legally, (the bit that counts) we don't I haven't checked to be honest, but I'll bet the DVLA has the vehicles registered to the PCCO too. If you've any evidence to the contrary I would welcome being corrected.

No they're not. It's a policy, not a law. Its advisory, not mandatory. It could be argued under GDPR, but that would only apply out in public. On police property GDPR signs posted cover the use of BWV.

With all the memos concerning public photography how do you always seem to find police who obviously can’t read!
