Love these videos...... Ive picked up dual sporting in my late 30's and now at 43 am riding and doing things with my crf250L that I never thought possible :) So much fun annnd, amazing exercise!!!
I found that out the hard way today… Didn’t know not to down shift .. lol My kayo k2 230 took off out from me , she took a punch n still goin , messed up my tail plastic.. buddy told me always clim in 2cnd from their on every climb was perfect.. I’m new to the game… thanks for the info.
Keep the bike on the power band. Know ahead of time where that is. Feet on the pegs, weight forward, let the rear wheel find traction and steer with the front wheel, preferably straight up the hill. Don't get cute. Stand up and look in the headlight if it gets really steep. My XR350 would just walk up almost any hill. The XR500 was unbeatable.
Sorry for the stupid question, never ridden dirtbikes but avid mountain biker and off-roader . Do you generally downshift at all during the course of the hill? I get the need for momentum and speed and I’m guessing that’s always preference #1 and that perhaps allows you to maintain one specific gear the whole way up but do you ever drop gears lower to gain torque during the course of the climb? On a mountain bike obviously you’d drop gears once on climb but could either build speed and momentum before or just slowly torque your way up. In my off-road vehicle I don’t ever need any momentum as I just drop down to 4lo and crawl my way up. Do you ever do the same on a dirtbike, that is, drop gears during the climb at different points, weaving your way up and gaining torque and traction where you can or is it simply just get into a gear before the hill and build momentum enough to throttle up it?
Most new bikes have four or six handlebar positions, 2 or 3 holes and eccentric cams. My question is, on steep hills when I want to pull my body from seating to standing position, which handlebar position would help me?
If it's a bumpy hill climb would you recommend starting from a standing position or at least a squat with your butt off the seat? I'm a new rider at the age of 42 and we have a lot of similar loose dirt/hard pack hills where I ride but a lot more bumps and undulations that make sitting tricky.
The more you can stand up the better just make sure you are keeping your weight forward on an uphill. It’s really easy to get pulled back and start to wheelie when you are standing up.

My tip is just put your bike to second gear and pin the hell out of it
Works on any cc bike
That's the best way to do it.

Damn! Cool hill. Haha I live in the prairies so we don't have any of these here hahaha.

It depends on your height but as a general rule of thumb between 0 and +1 is a good position to start from.

we have same plate number
I love it 👍🏻
Is that a hill? I seen higher speed bumps then that!
Oh I'm sorry, I didn't see this is a beginners course.
