- Some people may live in palaces and some in caravans but regardless of wealth or title everyone wants their own wedding day to be absolutely perfect.
On Friday - exactly a fortnight before Kate and William say I do - a very special wedding took place in Peterborough between Irish Travellers Mary and Paddy. The 23 year olds who have been together for three years are the stars of the brand new one off special My Big Fat Royal Gypsy Wedding which will air on Channel 4 at 9pm on April 28th -- the day before the Royal Wedding.
No different from Kate and William the couple had set ideas about what they wanted for their day and like most brides Mary confessed she has been dreaming of her wedding day for years. Making the day special for the couple was job of dressmaker Thelma Madene and her team. They were tasked to pull off a Big Fat Gypsy Wedding that would rival the Royal wedding in the glitz and glamour stakes.... in just three weeks.

@Tadoow11 I didn't even think gypsies were still around. And while this show may not show them in their best light, it does make Americans more aware of their existence and problems. And I really love those dresses.

@atareg Haaa, that is funny, cuz I was raised in Newark, NJ. Gone forever now though, especially after I got robbed while on leave years ago.

In the USA nearly every person who is not the first generation living there (an immigrant) has mixed ancestry, even "gypsies", who may be less mixed than the average U.S. person due to many of their attempts to keep the bloodline from mixing, but still are not 100 percent from the same ethnic group.

1. "Publicy" isn't a word.
2. "Wife neglect" is when you bed someone out of wedlock, then refuse to help raise the child. This happens most often in big cities.
3. Every other thing you said is a stereotype; an exaggeration of the worst that a culture has to offer. It would be like me calling all frontiersman murderous, cattle-russling, bloodthirsty indian-haters. Most of them were just ordinary dudes trying to make it through life without starving to death on the prairie.

I'm just going to say it, I really love those dresses. Sure, they look like they could kill you if you stepped on the him. And sure, they look kinda ridiculous, but still, they look pretty damn hot.
@atareg No offense taken here. I have been living in the south by way of the military (Ft Bragg, NC and many other places in the south). I tend to think I have lost most of my accent until someone mentions it. Newark, New Jersey is my hometown and I love the life I had, however to stay there is like going back to Iraq or Aphganistan because you have to always be on alert, not to mention around the clock guard duty on my car. You gotta love it or hate it.

You're right to say that every human community has its dark sides, because every human community is, and will be imperfect, but refusing to acknowledge the good in people will only make you miserable.
P.S.: I think they're abused here just because they're different.

Wow Gypsies ... are those blonds Gypsies .... I've never seen them looking like this. In my country they have darker skin ,hair and eyes.... USA got better gypsies than other countries! :D
