I make this recipe in my bread machine all the time and it turns out great. No need to proof yeast. Just add ingredients in order specified by bread machine (i.e. liquids first, then dry stuff and yudane, and yeast last). I use the French Bread setting for a 1 lb loaf with light crust setting and it's perfect.

I’m pretty sure all these problems are because Japanese bread flour is a lot different than flour here in North America. Different ash content, protein content, etc.
As someone who made a lot of bread on my college course, when making bread its best to continue kneading the dough instead of adding flour it will slowly get less sticky and result in a nicer bread overall. It could also be why it didn't rise properly. Hope this helps :)

Your recipes always look so easy. When I try them I find that they are so easy. Often the only precious ingredient is time. This one looks so good because it is a cube. Thank you for all your wonderful recipes which are all so international but can be made with easily obtainable local ingredients.
The first one is a method kinda like making a sour dough, but in this case to increase the softness of the bread. The final result would not be that springy, if you just add the ingredients.
This is a pretty common technique in baking, particularly in bread making. In the west, in English, the smaller bit of dough is usually called the "sponge," and a its similar to the idea of using a starter in sourdough breads. Breads using a sponge tend to be softer, lighter, and don’t go stale as quickly. Brioche instantly comes to mind as a bread where the sponge method is almost considered mandatory among bakers.
Wow, thanks. Sour dough was the first thing I thought of but that just didn't fit here because there's no long fermentation process or use of wild yeast. I never knew about this technique or have made Brioche. Very interesting. I'm now going to have to go find out why and how it works. Thanks again, both of you. Edit - My bread making "specialty" is in pizza dough and pan cooked flat breads. Baking is a complex art as a whole. I haven't mastered any of it really but it's interesting to learn even if I never dive into a particular type of bread or pastry.

Some people like it but I miss proper bread from my home country. This bread is good for French toast though
@@SquirrelYouSmokeWith Yes, it’s good for toast, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, grilled cheese, slathered with butter. The texture is awesome, and even the Crust is good to eat
Probably because its closer to cake than to bread
@TheMacel66 yeah, that's what I do often
Your recipes always look so easy. When I try them I find that they are so easy. Often the only precious ingredient is time. This one looks so good because it is a cube. Thank you for all your wonderful recipes which are all so international but can be made with easily obtainable local ingredients.
Yay, now I can finally make my own milk bread! :D
I KNEW I WOULD FIND A HAIKYUU FANN 😃
Pfft yesss
THE KING 😍
I had a feeling I'd find you here
oikawa my beloved
Two slices of those with peanut butter. Nutella, and banana slices fried in a pan next to glass of milk sounds pretty phenomenal.
Tbh I'd go with just buttered toast. Cos the bread already taste good
“Shokupan” literally means “Eating bread”(noun) or “Eat bread” 「食パン」
It could also be “cooking bread”
Hi, can you explain to me the difference between 食 (Shoku) and 食べ (Tabe)?
Because of persona 3 I know for a fact that pan means bread
@@n1rvanna_chaos is lotta easier in Brazil, because it is called almost the same way
@@n1rvanna_chaos same here in the Philippines
"Which bread do you want?"

What is the purpose for making two separate doughs to then combine?
❤❤❤BEST BREAD IVE MADE IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!! It was soooo soft even after storing for 2days! I made this recipe into dinner rolls and each one was soooooooooo fluffy!!!!! I couldn't stop myself from eating them all myself🤤🤤🤤🤤. THANKYOU SO much for this WONDERFUL RECIPE and the technique as well✨✨✨

I love how proper everything she does is
Pro-tip: this bread also makes for an absolutely amazing grilled ham-and-cheese sandwich. Especially if you made a big loaf and it becomes a bit stale, using it for grilled sandwiches is a great way to use the rest.
but the bread's sweet though, right? isn't that weird for a savoury sandwich?
@@cherrybomb3098 I thought so too at first, but was pleasently surprised! It's not *that* sweet. It's more a buttery flavor which goes well with a savory sandwich.
wow i see, thanks! I'll have to try it soooon : )

Why does everything in Japan look so perfect
Process of elimination by immense societal pressure
@@pr.dr.nachtigaller5154 Sad to think that is the genuine answer.
Process.
Almost everything in Japan is about perfection... just like Germany and... Sweden?
