I'm a guy. I started watching this video simply because... well to be honest I thought Cammie was pretty and clicked the video. However, I started using this method a couple of weeks ago and stopped using any other products I had. My skin is not terrible but not great either. After about two weeks I noticed a major improvement. I would never have thought a video like this would be relevant for me... but it really was. Damn. Thanks Cammie. I guess I have to subscribe now because I feel like I owe you one.

Okay what i'm about to say is gross but beneficial to people that have cystic pimples. When I got on cystic pimple it didn't have an "exit" so I just squeezed as hard as I can and eventually it popped but teared through layers of skin. When it stopped bleeding it kinda left a hole in my face and was so painful and sore and wouldn't stop bleeding for about an hour. After a couple of weeks I had a major breakout around that spot and that's because when the gunk was tearing through my skin some of it got trapped in the layers of skin, therefore causing me to have a majorrrrr breakout. It wasn't pretty and when it cleared up after about 2-3 weeks it left a horrible scar that looked like I got stabbed in the face, the scar is gone now though. Moral of the story... Do what Cammie said and don't pick cystic pimples.

I have used this method for several years. I cleanse with castor oil, rice bran or camellia oil and tea tree oil (for antiseptic properties). I do it twice daily and rarely have breakouts. I follow up with a low pH cleanser like CeraVe or Neutrogena Deep Clean oil free. Then toner, serums and a moisturizer (modified Korean multistep skin care program).
My skin has made a 180 degree turn. Far decreased oily skin, fading of hyperpigmentation and no painful cysts. I am so happy.

I swear, oil is like one of the wonders of the earth!! It is good for almost anything like removing makeup, hydrating the skin, treating dry hair, improving hair growth, homeopathic remedies, massaging, aromatherapy, and like you said also, treating acne. There are so many out there for different things, it's a guarantee you'll find a lot of oils that can benefit you. I recommend tea tree oil for a lot of uses. I'd put drops of it in my bath for relaxation, hair shampoo and conditioner for hair treatment, facial toner to refresh my skin, candle warmer for aromatherapy, and spot treatment for acne. You'd be surprised how well oil works for so many things. You can practically have only oil for your entire skin care routine. Another thing I love to do with tea tree oil is put it in a humidifier. Sinuses cleared almost instantly when I was sick. Mother nature has everything we need lol.

I'm glad it's worked for her, but some of the oils she mentioned aren't necessarily the best for acne prone skin (other than the castor oil) for acne or acne scars, try oils such as Tamanu, Sea buckthorn oil, or Hemp oil. Always make sure they are organic and cold pressed. You can use them as moisturizers as well, and they will not break you out.

I'm 45 and have worked in a spa for ten years. I make an oil cleansing blend of 80%castor oil, 10% jojoba oil,5% rose hip seed oil, 5% jasmine oil and my skin has never looked better. I massage a tablespoons worth onto my skin and then wipe away with a warm washcloth. FYI pick up a 3 pack of microfiber washcloths from your local dollar store. Spa and salon secret we use to remove all traces of makeup and it miraculously removes hair color from your scalp. Enjoy!

Slime Love this is really late, sorry! If you don’t already have hair growing around the mustache area, then no, this will not make hair magically appear. If you do, yes, it will probably make the hair grow a little faster so you might have to remove it more frequently(if you want to remove it at all), but it’s not like you’ll wake up with a full blown mustache every morning 😊

I am waiting for my oils and I am excited to start making my own skincare and I was just looking up what cloths work best with OCM. Do you feel like the microfiber cleans all the oil off? I hate microfiber usually because I feel like it doesn't absorb water. I am going to be making my cleansing oil close to your concoction but I am going to use grape seed oil instead of jojoba. There are some neat sites that sell peptides, actives, antioxidants, and preservatives. I am looking forward to making serums for my friends and family.

Oh my gosh Cammie our skin stories are SO similar! Benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid both irritated my skin like crazy and made my acne so much worse, on top of drying my skin out. I have finally gotten my acne under control after years and years, but I have always been SO CURIOUS about oil cleansing! I'm definitely convinced to try it out now!
Also, I wanted to say I am so so so excited for you and your new channel! I LOVE it so far! I adore you and Shannon together, and now not only do we get to see another side of you, but we get a bonus video every week as well! Can't wait to see the new videos to come! xoxoxo

I don't have acne on my face. It's combination type. I've been using the oil cleansing method for quite some time now. It leaves my skin super soft and smooth and I totally love it. You could massage your choice of oil(s) on to clean skin just before bed and leave it as is. Wake up the next morning to super soft, smooth, plump and firm skin! Continue your morning skin care routine and you're good to go!

Cammie, you make me so happy! My friends didn't believe me when I told them I was putting oils on my skin to get rid of my acne, but it really works!! I started oil cleansing 2,5 years ago and my skin has never been better! I think no one benefits from the harsh chemicals in common products and should really try this relaxing treatment. Nowadays I do it once a month; and I'm just using regular olive oil! It's so nice to hear that it worked for you as well! Hopefully it will help lots more now that you've shared your story :-) Thank you and good luck with your new channel! X

  • @crystal.matter
    @crystal.matter 9 років тому +9

Yeah, that's the answer always even though it sounds silly: if you have oily skin and you want to get rid of it = put oil products on your skin! If you have oily greasy hair = same thing!
Because your skin/hair produces those oils because they're actually too dry, so if you put these products in them, they can stop producing excessive amounts of oil and grease themselves. Unfortunately many people who have oily skin or hair don't know or believe that their hair/skin is actually too dry.

Many questions. 1) how often do you do this? Is it ok to do it twice a day? You said you only do it twice a week so what do you do wash with the rest of the time? 2) you said you do it before you shower. In the shower is it okay to get your face wet? Or does this get rid of all the oils you just put on? 3) how often do you put your wash cloth I'm the washing machine? 4) where is your necklace from?

I started cleansing with lemon essential oil and castor oil in the evening and using only jojoba oil in the morning. I make sure to use soap and a foam cleanser (Origins) to make sure ALL the oil is off my face, and then I use a moisturizer. I know some people don't remove all the oil, but I prefer to remove it all because if there are any impurities trapped in the oil, leaving it on the skin can irritate and cause breakouts. I have been doing this for about two weeks now and this has really worked extremely well for me. As someone who has struggled with acne for over a decade, I finally feel like I have found something that works (which for a very long time I didn't think existed). I have oily skin, and used to have severely clogged up my pores, and with a tendency to get oily throughout the day. But within a few days of using the OCM i noticed it lifted out 90% of my blackheads and whiteheads! Initially I thought the oil was breaking me out when my skin got bumpy, but it was doing the opposite! Also the lemon essential oil helps with my severe acne scarring that I got from trying to clean my pores by pinching my skin which is a terrible idea but its hard to resist when you notice how bumpy your skin is. If anyone wants to try this out (lemon oil + castor oil), PLEASE BE CAREFUL with the lemon essential oil, as it should be diluted properly, using too much and being exposed to UV light can cause skin damage. Thats why I only use the lemon essential oil during the evening, I mix three drops of lemon oil with a teaspoon of castor oil. =)

Firstly, cammie well done, I just feel like you should know that I can see how much effort you put into that video and it's great. You really thoroughly explained everything.
Secondly, I have a couple of questions. 1. Did Shannon help you film this
    2. Will you ever tell us how your teeth are so white, even though you say you're a coffee addict (which if I'm not mistaken stains your teeth)
    3. This isn't really a question. But just wanted to say you and Shannon are the highlight of my week and now that I get two videos I'm sure all of the fandom will be sooo happy! When you were telling the story about your acne, I could have cried...I dealt with the exact same thing!! That was such an intriguing video and you could tell you know your stuff because you've put that time and effort into battling the acne. So I will definitely do some research and try this method out. Thank you thank you thank you!!!! Mid 20's acne is hereditary in my family. I had perfect skin throughout my teens and when I was finally smacked in the face by cystic and regular acne I had not a clue on how to go about making it stop. I'm on my 7th day of the oil method which I found out about through you! I think I've found the ratio that works for me and I am so happy! My skin is finally clear enough that my scars actually have time to heal without new blemishes popping up. In fact, it stopped a cyst dead in its tracks the third day in... It disappeared.... WHATTTZZ?! I'm used to those bitches lasting at least 2-3 weeks. Crazy. The purge period was really short and minimal for me. I'm blown away. Thank you thank you thank you for sharing. I can't wait to tell everyone.

this is great, sweetheart. thank you for sharing :D skin issues are so sensitive. i had BAD acne from age 12 to about 28. (i'm 14 years older than you) i FINALLY figured out the routine that works for me, around age 31. i too have overly oily skin, but i'm the opposite of you in that the ONLY thing that works for me is a strong benzoyl peroxide. and funnily enough, after trying everything under the sun, the only one that does it for me is the walgreens knock off brand of clean and clear acne treatment gel! its a little stronger than clean and clear - and kills pimps DEAD on me. then my moisturizer is an ultra hand moisturizer! the combo works - and i havent had a real breakout in years, just little stress or poor diet spots, occasionally :D can't wait for your next vid! xoxo

Wow that sounds a lot like my skin. It's not as bad anymore but it's still not completely clear. I've actually been doing the OCM for maybe a month now, but with hemp seed oil, and it hasn't seemed to change my skin. It hasn't gotten worse but it hasn't gotten better either so I am trying to do more research. I'm wondering now if maybe I should mix castor oil with the hemp seed oil.

I also had pretty similar skin, I started using 1/2 olive oil and 1/2 castor oil with a few drops of tea tree oil. It's the only thing that's cleared mine up. I still get a pimple or two around my period, but they are super small and quickly disappear after putting a tea tree + witch hazel + aloe Vera mixture on them

Maybe try removing all the oil with soap and a foam cleanser after doing the OCM. Leaving in the oil and only using water to clean it can leave behind impurities trapped in the oil (water doesn't take off all the oil). Ive been doing OCM but I remove all of the oil afterwards with soap and water, and then use a moisturizer. hope this helps!

It's very important that the oils you put on your face is non comedogenic (aka pore clogging (aka do NOT put coconut oil on your face)).
Oils that are good to use:
(0): argan oil, hemp seed oil, mango butter, shea butter.
(1): rose hip oil(my fave), castor oil, pomegranate oil.
(2): almond oil, avocado oil, jojoba oil, olive oil.
(The comedogenic index is from 0-5)

K I just want to say something. I heard her talk about this method back in November of 2014, and since I struggle with acne, I tried it. I had my acne already mostly under control with benzoyl peroxide, but regardless, I wanted to try this. After a week of using this my acne got to be the worst it has ever been. I was covered in pimples and developed terrible skin. It took me months of benzoyl peroxide treatment to get it under control, and I am still struggling with acne scars a year later. I really respect this UA-camr, but she had very little acne that wasn't serious at all so this method works for her. She is also allergic to benzoyl peroxide, which is why acne treatments didn't work for her. If you struggle with acne, I recommend a gentle cleanser, 2.5% benzoyl peroxide treatment, and a gentle moisturizer. Please do not try the oil cleansing method if you have an actual acne problem. Benzoyl peroxide is the most commonly used acne treatment method because it works, and this is coming from a girl who struggled with serious cystic acne. If you struggle with acne and want more information, visit acne.org. It recommends drug store products to buy or you can buy their products. Hope this helped someone.

I absolutely ADORE you Cammie, and I think you have so many great things to say on your channel; I watch religiously. I'm a huge fan of you and Shannon, @nowthisisliving, and I was so excited when you branched out to your own channel. Especially when I found this video 6 months ago. I was intrigued about the OCM and excited to do more research and try this out just from seeing how much you love it. It clearly seems to work for you, so I was hoping this would be the treatment to take my skin to that final level of 'perfection'. Oh how I was wrong. While initially performing the OCM left my skin feeling very soft, it ultimately wound up clogging all of my pores, and resulted in a terrible skin rash that left my sensitive skin with an abundance of dark spots. This was the worst possible thing that could have happened, as I had spent the better part of a year on antibiotics, brighteners and skin bleaching for dark spots to get my skin to the level it was prior to beginning the cleansing. I had really hoped OC would be the key to capping off all the progress I had made, but it did the exact opposite, leaving me with a skin rash, new dark marks, and triggering my acne after almost a year. I am now in the midst of what might be the worst breakout of my life.
I'm not here to bash the OCM by any means, but I do think it's important for people to know that the OCM is not for everyone. If it is something you are interested in trying, DO YOUR RESEARCH. One thing I found difficult to pinpoint by any source was exactly how often you should perform the OCM. Without this information, you run the risk of under or overperforming the method, the latter of which can do more harm than good. It's possible I may have fallen victim to overperformance, as someone with sensitive skin like mine should probably start very slowly or avoid the process altogether. While it could have been the number of times I was performing the method, the combination of oils used, or something else, introducing the OCM into my routine subsequently ruined my skin. Again, I am not bashing the OCM or trying to lay blame for my horror story -- least of all on Cammie or her video. If the OCM works for you, that's terrific. I just want to send out warning to anyone who might be interested in starting the process -- know yourself, know your skin, do your research, and just know that at the end of the day, it might not be right for you.

I suspect you used it too often-more than once every 2 weeks or with oil high in pore clogging properties. Use low score comedogenic oil like Argon; Mango or Shea butter with hotish- steaming washcloth after-no hard rubbing- and finish with splashes of cool water and a good lotion with A. D & E. Also, different oils may lead to different results-find one your skin likes
