- Today we're taking a look at a custom keyboard that I've been patiently waiting to build. The Ikki68 Aurora R2 from Wuque Studio! This mechanical keyboard comes with an overwhelming selection of options to build with. Down to how many gaskets you want to use!
I'm building it up with the ever popular Gateron Oil King linear switches except for a single Gateron Box Ink Black (Lubed and Filmed) on the space bar. I also picked up an FR4 plate to use along side the included Polycarb plate giving us even more options to try out, and landing this mechanical keyboard in a sweet spot right between thock and clack!

How to pick blueberries? I GOT YA ! Place a cluster of blueberries in your hand and simply tickle them with your fingers. The ripe berries will fall of the stem. Hold the branch with one hand and with the other gently pick the berries off of the stem and into your palm.

I thoroughly enjoyed the intro and B-roll! Seeing all the options still makes this a great beginner board to tinker around with. Sound-wise I preferred the PC plate with no silicone, but now I'm wondering if that would be too flexy for me, too.
Thanks so much! I really liked the alphas in that config, but I just couldn't get over how empty and thin the spacebar sounded, and it was wayyyyyy too much flex for me even in just normal typing. I'd love to see more boards with this many options around though. There's really something in it for everyone.
Definitely a great board at the price point! If they had this in a standard 65% layout with a usb c daughterboard, I think I would have bought it. There don’t seem to be many polycarbonate boards in this price range (though plenty made from ABS). Really enjoying the content and your commentary! The legend of zelda sound for the FR4 plate killed me 😂
I like how it stands out a little from most 65%s honestly! Definitely wish there was a daughterboard though. Thank you so much! I appreciate you watching. After I finished filming I knew immediately that the LoZ chest sound was perfect for my discovery 😂
@@thesurgeonkeebs9857 Totally fair on the form factor, I think it’ll appeal more to some! For me, I just prefer a more compact layout, but there’s also so many 65% boards out now nobody’s hurting for options! If I hadn’t went in on so many gbs this year, I’d be all over the seemingly recently released portal array (65% gummy o ring in a polycarb case with a weight).
@@ImOnMy116 you can never go wrong with a gummy o ring mount! I just picked up the Freebird 75 a while back and I'm super excited for that to ship out!

does the fr4 plate help in making the board less flexy? also does it also make the board sound deeper compared to PC plate?
The FR4 plate definitely removes some of the flex. It almost made the no dampening setup useable for me. It doesn't make it deeper, though. If anything it makes it slightly more clacky, but it really just adds a more full bottom out sound that I really like.
I really like that keyboard layout, but honestly really do not like the look of the badge on any of the Ikki68's I've seen.
