Gaming on a TV vs. Monitor

- Which do you prefer, gaming on a TV or monitor? For me, playing PS5 games like TLOU and Spider-Man are great on a TV, but FPS games like COD are awesome on a monitor setup.

Yeah man I'm really happy with my Hisense
Yeah man TVs have come a long way for gaming. Mine even has ALLM and VRR support, freesync and also boosts the frame rate of older games that have low framerates.
But many of them are not real 120Hz TV they are just 60Hz TV which use Backlight strobing to create an illusion of 120Hz and it's Hertz not FPS for Displays
@@prathamkalgutkar7538 120hz allows for 120 fps in games, same difference lol
@Pratham Kalgutkar but many of them ARE 120 hertz, so I don't see your point.
TV + PS5 as I'm in my early 20s and I've predominantly worked from home all of my professional career so when I'm at my desk I just associate it with work so I can never fully detach from work and immerse myself in a game despite having a gaming laptop which is essentially now just a glorified secondary work laptop. So it will always be a TV and PS5 for me, plus consoles are just so simple, and I could sit or lay day after work followed by lifting and then boxing. And yes I can use an extra room in my house as my office but it's just so convenient to have my computer desk in my bedroom plus I do have a larger bedroom. And I don't play any competitive games like Cod.
Damn that has to be one of the biggest monitors I’ve ever seen lmao

Man if I try to game on a couch/bed, I'm asleep in 5 min. I work too hard for all that. Gotta be at a desk to stay focused and awake 😂
😂 My gf hates that, we'll sit down to watch a show and I'm out. If i stop moving after work I'm done for. I usually gotta end up getting a summary of whatever show we're watching cause shes like, ive watched this episode 3 times now, were moving on. 😅
If I work too hard I can't sit on a desk as a pc gamer I play fod with mnk and dark souls in bed. I hate desk that much it reminds me of working.
@thefirstone4864 yeah well it sounds like you have a desk job. Not physically demanding, so you aren't as tired, and I understand not wanting to sit at a desk after doing it all day at work. I work a trade, and it's fairly physically demanding so if I try to play a game laying in bed I can't stay awake. I'll pass out while playing. And I don't sit at a desk all day so for me doing it for a couple hours while I game is no big deal.
Just reading the comments it plays a dozen times. 6 for my typing.
I completely understand this man lol.
Just ordered a 65" C3 for my PC! Excited!
Sounds like a terrible idea to use a 65” for a pc.
I have a 65” TV, and 27” and 24” curved monitors for PC stuff.
On a 65” your head moves a lot doing any task, while on the smaller monitors only your eyes move.
But to be fair, I use PC for work not gaming. So I’m not sitting on a couch a fair distance, I’m writing software and need to see words and the cursor.

After a big day at college and an evening passed at work. I much much muuuuch prefer gaming with a TV may it be story driven game like god of war or fps like overwatch. Just sleep then. Your body needs sleep more than you need gaming.
Maybe it's just my long PC gaming background since the mid '90s, but that sensibility carried over for me into the PS3/360 console generation. I loved the convenience of having both my PC rig and console hooked up to a monitor setup long before streaming culture was a thing. I didn't transition back over to couch gaming until the latter stages of that era and then went back to using a monitor for the first five years of the PS4/XB1 gen. Towards the tale end of that gen is when I got back into couch gaming from a TV viewing distance. Thanks to the advent of TVs like the excellent LG G Series of OLED, which narrow the gap between smart TV and PC monitor like performance, I've been content with console gaming from my couch or bed while relegating my PC gaming and content creation to a monitor. This is the first console generation where I didn't kick things off with a monitor, but I wouldn't be surprised if I start using one again with the types of models coming out.
Yea I have a pretty solid gaming monitor at a desk in my basement. Have the series S set up on that currently. I use my C1 upstairs in the living room with the PS5 bc the picture is just so good with the combo of the two of them for movies/shows. I want to play shooters on my monitor but I can’t pull myself to take my PS5 away from the LG 🤣
@Eddie0102 Haha yeah same here.
I play on my 55 LG CX and it's amazing. Both PS5 and Series X look incredible. 4 hdmi 2.1 inputs, 120 vrr, dolby sound & video, 4k resolution. Best TV I've ever owned!
Makes sense. I like both options.
For comfortable gaming I lay in bed playing on my tv, for competitive gaming I use my desk and monitor.
I prefer sitting on my couch, kicking my feet up, and play on my TV. I'm at my desk all day for work. I play to relax
Definitely. Because what moniters are very annoying that you gotta sit next to a chair with your legs and it hurts.
when I first bought my console i liked to play on a big tv and sitting on the couch and since I switched to desktop setup it’s actually good especially when you play story driven games.
That chair is such a flex.

I played only on TV since I was young. Around 5/6 years ago I purchased a pretty standard AOC monitor from Game knowing completely nothing about specs. But since I’ve gone to monitor I could never see myself playing on TV again. I now own a Samsung Odyssey G7 and personally love it. I now use the AOC monitor on a mount next to my Samsung for UA-cam purposes but looking to upgrade that to a 1440p monitor.
Does it matter about 75HZ 200HZ
@@coreywise07 It’s the speed in which your monitor refresh’s so the picture is smoother.
I prefer gaming in my 1440p LG monitor even though my 3080ti can push 60plus fps on my C1. If I am just relaxing and playing story games like Horizon dawn or god of way then I prefer the C1. I returned my 55inch for the 48 inch due to this fact so if I ever want to I can still plug in the hdmi n have a fun time. I mostly got the C1 to watch ufc events or other mma and it absolutely delivers. I had to upgrade to a sound at because the stock tv speakers weren’t that good imo I picked up the Bose tv speaker n it does well for a 300$ sound system l, also looks really clean

I used to always prefer tv just because I didn’t want to spend money on speakers, but after awhile I realized living in the barracks I had my headphones on whenever I played anyway so that definitely helped me make the switch. It looks a hell of a lot better and I stopped getting headaches from gaming too long. Probably just because my tvs always sucked but eh either or
bro's monitor is my tv💀
Always been playing on TVs, that’s the norm
I'm doing a completely different setup, with a TV this time around. I haven't completely settled on which TV but leaning towards the LG G4 or Sony Bravia 9. (OLED still makes me nervous lol)
Kicked my desk outta my room, the gamer chair is gone too. Got a rolling table with specific legs/design to roll right over my bed. Puting a L shaped VESA stand at the foot of my bed, and planning on probably going with a 65" TV model. Pretty straight forward, game in/on my bed, why not, it's a bed it's supposed to be comfy lol.
Transitioning out of OTR trucking after tens year, and to local work, relatively soon. Gonna be going ham with this build. Only thing I'm really missing is the TV and the guts for my Case I have set aside.. Waiting for all the next gen stuff to launch first though. My laptop can carry me till then. Probably see about catching a good deal on a TV soon though, got the holiday season round the corner.
Probably gonna be a bit before Zen 5 X3D and Arrow lake launch, and who knows when RTX 5000 will launch exactly. Typical release cycle though, rumors abound.😅

Ahaha
- monitor is better for the FPS games
- sits at a desk in front of the TV
(I know that that’s technically a monitor, but it’s like 43”, so looks kinda funny)
And also K&M would be great for FPS
Love your videos
Hey man, will you cover the Odyssey Neo g7 ?
There’s a big disadvantage on playing on a big screen than a smaller. So I have a 65” TV, and a 24” and 27” both curved monitors. What I have noticed is that the bigger the display the longer the distance your eye perceives between points on the screen, so moving the reticle from let’s say one target to another is much faster and more accurate on a smaller display than big, because how how your eye perceives the distance and effort to travel the distance.
Try this on a big tv and a smaller monitor. Point with your finger one one point on the left and then move to another point on the far right. You’ll notice on the big tv, you move your arm too and it feels longer whereas on small monitor the same distance, you only move your finger and it’s much faster from A to B.
Conclusion:
For slow paced games, big tv. Fast paced, smaller monitor. IMO. And TVs typically have slower response time and refresh rates.
Pro tip most pro gamers use a 24.5 inch or 25 inch monitor some pros use 27 inch very rarely though If you want to take your gaming to the next level don’t get a 32 inch monitor or curved monitor

Gaming and watching movies e.t.c. on a TV is great, especially a 3D TV like mine. However I have just recently bought a overhead projector that you can set up so that If you have a big wall in your house , flat or whatever you have you don't have to worry about wires coming from your TV, because the screen where you play your games or watch movies are on the wall. Only wires are with your overhead projector and there is less wires with overhead projector.
I have recently bought a overhead projector to try it myself eventually, but I have seen various other people using them to watch movies / TV and playing games on that overhead projector that have rececomend me to purchase.

Tv with ps5 but I don't tend to play shooters. When I used to, it was PC at a desk all the way
I try to play all the games I don’t need mouse and keyboard for on the console, just because of the seamless experience and optimised gameplay
I hate how I'm always behind on response time and probably at this point it's just that I need to go from console to cpu instead, but even so, nothing beats the enjoyment I get when playing on 65" LG G3 oled tv sitting on the couch at the other end of my living room (about 10ft away) and looking at those big images. And I am someone that plays hard-core competitive on Halo 5 and my number one joy in there is doing snipe head shots. I just wish there was a tv capable of keeping up with high competitive fps gaming
I own a 55" Philips TV that I use personally for gaming because I can't afford a dedicated PC setup which I plan on getting sometime down the road. So far it's held up for the past 4-5 years and probably will keep going for another few before it bites the dust.

I play all my games on my 60 inch 4K
Google TV it has everything I need like Dolby, Atmos and Dolby Vision with HDR 10 I have My switch, OLED, my PS five and my series X all hooked up to it and it’s a flawless experience
idk about for consoles but for pcs there is a huge difference between the 2. so first things are that with 60fps for example on a tv for pc it will look smoother but you will have tons of input delay, so for that you should do story games. but for using a monitor on pc (using 60fps as example) the difference is that you get no input delay making your aim away better for competitive games and fast paced games. but the camera movements wont be as smooth looking as a tv. monitors are just more raw feeling so what i recommend is that if you want a smoother more cinematic gameplay use a tv for story games. and if you want less input delay and better aim use a monitor, the camera movements wont look as smooth even though youll have the same fps but your aim will be way better. so for a final answer for what to use with a pc, it depends i guess
Always had a TV I just sit close to it when I play FPS or other multiplayer games to focus
Same here I’m right by the screen
As an owner of a 48” C1 for my series X and 42” C2 for my pc gaming, they’re both phenomenal TVs. Although I will be upgrading to a 240hz monitor soon
Being a main console gamer, the obvious choice is tv, but owning both a console and a pc I play on whatever games is on the related system; pc games on monitor, console games on tv.
If you get a cheap race rig (~$500-1000), a 55" works great if you have them as close as possible. Samsung QLEDs are resistant to burn-in.
I mean if I want to play FPS game on a monitor sitting on a chair then i pretty much use the mouse and keyboard rather than controller. The main point of the controller is that it's allow you to NOT SITTING ON A CHAIR IN FRONT OF A DESK to be able to play game, to me a controller gaming session is when i am too tired from working on a desk for the whole day and just want to lie down on my bed or couch.
TV 100 percent, nothing beats coming home from a long day, ripping the bong, and kickin back enjoying games on a big flat screen TV
first time I've heard the acronym fps get given the meaning fast paced games
TV for me! Suppose its easy for me to say while sitting in front of my 65'' LG C1....its amazing!
I like sitting on my sofa and just cooling it and being amazed by the colors and the motion. TVs are the best comforter
Exactly as the video described. Story games on my playstation on the couch, online/fps on pc at my desk
I have a 55" samsung tv with VRR & 120hz so sitting back at the right distance is perfect for me with all types of games. Plus having a proper surround sound around me is all that more immersive than wearing a headset for hours
Bro why tour setup looks so clean
Tv because they usually are larger but when your sitting 8-10 ft back it's comparable roughly to a monitor that's 32 inches or under to about 24inches. That's saying if you have a 55 inch or larger. I'm assuming. And so to me I'd rather the larger TV vs a monitor on a desk.
TV, but something I still do since I was a kid, in Session Skate Sim for example when I couldn't land a trick, I had to lean forward right up and landed the trick firat try lol.
This is a pretty decent method. I prefer monitors because I mostly play competitive games.
For me it's a Tv all day, but at the end of the day it's completely down to personal preference and what you like; and i respect anyone's preference that works for them.
I use mine on a 32-inch samsung g5 monitor, but I can always sit back and relax with spiderman 2
no matter if it’s single player or multiplayer, i prefer a monitor. it’s more personal for me, i can be in my own world.
you have such a clean setup
No!! It's filthy dirty that setup 😆
Not having a keyboard and mouse takes the entire purpose out of sitting at a desk it would feel so weird to sit at a desk with a controller in my hand
I have a 27 inch smart tv for UA-cam and twitch but a 4k 120 hz 27 inch monitor and it's just 👌
Both! I have a desk with monitor for competitive games or games that are best with m&k.
For singel player games like God of War or racing games I sit in my coach using controller with my 65"
I mean today TVs and monitors are the same thing just one has a tuner in it.
Yes there are differences in panel types, resolutions, and refresh rates that are available for both but you can get the desk experience with a TV as well if you sit closer and if you want something to rest your arms on you can use something like a TV dinner try table thing.
The real issue I have with using a TV and sitting back on a couch is if there is anything I need to read, and it does not have to be subtitles either. If I can not read the UI or my inventory then it is not going to work for me.
Though I am a PC gamer so I have a desk set up anyway.
