Before watching: I buy 90% of my games physically cause, A: I can return or sell them if I choose to do so for whatever reasons, B: installing a game off a disc if I remember right is a lil faster than storing a whole game on your memory and also I believe less space???, and C: I like to display them (Especially my Zelda collection). Not to say I wont buy digital games (steam and otherwise) but only if thats the only option to buy that game (steam again being the main thing but there are other reasons) There are games that come out digital only then get a physical limited edition later where since I already bought the digital version on release and the physical has no extra stuff I'll just stick with the digital version.
B is completely wrong. Installing off disc can be slower, depending on your internet speed, and the install size is the same, as the disc is too slow to run the game off, so a full install is required.

You definitely covered the pros and cons of physical vs. Digital. I like on Digital, I can easily switch to a different game in seconds. Can't do that with physical. Like you said, though, it's nice to have a physical disk, too to hold and have in hand, trade, etc. Hopefully, we'll always have an option for physical. Great video.
With the country I stay in, buying physical games is extremely expensive, which is why I have joined the digital band wagon and wait for those discounts to buy several games digitally with gift cards. Since owning my Ps5 (disk version), I do not own any physical games.
I’m always a physical games person due to the main reason being the price savings in the longer run. 1. I can buy a used game for a fraction of the price. 2. Even if I bought a new game, after beating it, I can immediately sell it for not much depreciation. I’ve literally spent only $5-$10 dollars in lots of games because I buy it for $70, beat it, and sell it for $65 or $60. 3. I just beat Baldur’s Gate 3 and I’m sad I can’t sell it because it’s digital. It’s just sitting in my digital library catching digital dust.
I think digital games are the reason why most people don’t finish backlogs because they can just switch games without effort and have soo many at their disposal that they always want more without finish what they have
You nailed it for me with seeing a physical game on the shelf and deciding to play it. I always find titles in my digital library list just get forgotten about, much like a watch later list on netflix.
I love physical. It holds sentimental value as well as a good feeling of pride and ownership of your games and never lets the novelty run dry and you can never get bored of the console
Its a catch 22. Since I've had the PS5, I've downloaded more digital games than purchasing physical copies. But I still prefer to buy the exclusive games so I can resale them once I completed them.
When it comes to buying games at a lower price, I prefer purchasing physical discs. For online games, I compare prices between disc versions and digital formats to choose the cheaper option. Therefore, I'd opt for the disc version of the PS5, as it allows me to enjoy both physical and digital games at the best possible prices, BTW great and very informative video mate. Keep It up, Cheers!.
Both great points, the main advantage of Physical is defiantly the resale value or borrowing from your friends, for me. I recently swapped the Miles Morales spider man for the 2018 spider man, 2 games for the price of one
Gaming is Awesome. Awesome video Spawn! I am forever and happily a physical games player. I love going to the store in the morning, purchasing a game whether i preordered or not, taking off the plastic, hold the disc in my hand, the smell of the case just everything! I feel like it’s a losing art that will be sorely missed when it’s really over but for right now and as long as i lived there’s nothing like it. Digital is nice too because I got HZD as a free gift during the pandemic and it’s cool to flash back to it plus the demos we download that I enjoy too. I prefer physical games because I can sell them to others who can't afford the full price once I'm done playing. This way, I also get to enjoy the game for less.
For real, if the game is being resold for multiple times in its lifetime, you are literally the god of physical copy to us. I don't mind building u a shrine in minecraft just to worship u and be thankful for your blessing.
You can buy a small bag for discs that you can put near the console to put in games you play actually. Makes it a lot easier. If a game is done, put it back into the game case. I do the same with Switch Games and a Switch bag.
Why do they bother with making large capacity Blu-ray disks if the data they hold doesn’t matter, you can’t play the game on it, you still have to download it… so in the end the disk is just a glorified license, which is why I think physical games only make sense on the Switch since the game is stored on the cartridge and can be played immediately and not take up storage. Any PC user would make this argument I feel…
I live near my local library where you can borrow some games, whether its XBOX, PS, or Nintendo. Having a disc version of the console lets you borrow and test these games before buying.
The fact that companies like UBI-Soft have said, "players have to get used to not owning their games" is why I preferer to own my games physically. That's why it's a hard pass for Assassins' Creed Shadows for me. A game bought digitally could always be taken away.
This only works for offline games though, which is fine if you play alone but most the world plays with friends and most games support multiplayer. Physical copy won’t save you from being able to play online with others unfortunately.

I've been thinking about that for a long time - physical should come with at least a single use download code. If you want to sell the disc or it breaks you still own the game that way.
@@rsolsjo yeah I think that might be the problem. People can just sell the game and still keep the code. Essentially getting a free digital game. But that could also be easily fixed by having the PlayStation recognize the disc and its serial number and deactivate the digital code on any other PlayStations
I think it's hard for them to do that, if that's the case I could just buy one disc and borrow my friends for download and all of them don't have to pay
@@clements41 yeah and like I mentioned in the reply, they could have some kind of serial number on each disc so that when you put it in a console it knows that that disc is being used by another PlayStation (or psn account) and would just just disable or delete the digital copy on the original PlayStation. If that makes sense. Basically the disc is linked to one psn account or console
I got into digital when the pandemic hit. Still rocking the OG Phat PS4. Im in my early 40's and having physical disks are still great. Hopefully both options will still be available in the future.
Gaming is awesome! Personally, I've bought digital and physical games, and both formats have pros and cons. I think for at least one or two more console generations, we'll see physical games still being sold.
Physical, as much as i actually don't like to get up and change disc everytime i want to play a new game. I still enjoy keeping physical copies, to either trade with friends or use to decorate my setup.
When I used to play my games on my ps4 I usually bought physical games only but since the era of PS5 digital games have become something else entirely and have only created much confusion of going physical or digital. Personally even if i complete a game digitally which I love I would then again wait for it to go down a bit and repurchase it physically just to have it displayed in my collection which fills my heart with Pride and nostalgia. ❤
I used to prefer physical but am a convert and now prefer digital media. This is mainly due to a lack of storage space, but also due to the many deals on digital games which often make them cheaper than physical. My only problem with digital games is that you technically dont own them. Overall it is down to personal preference. Great video.
This was a great video, bro!! I personally prefer physically owning them for collecting purposes but digital is also cool i just dont enjoy the game as much digitally for some reason
I like both but if had to choose it would be a physical copy. I have PlayStation plus so I can get games included which are really good. I get monthly games as well.
Another thing to note about buying physical. Once you play and complete a newly released game and sell pretty early on for a good price, very often the game will either come out on PS Plus or game catalogue later down the road so you literally have had the best of both worlds and can replay at a later date digitally anyway. I've lost count of how many times i've bought a game and got the platinum, traded in and a few months later it comes out on game catalogue.
most of my games are digital PSN monthly games for a big reason but I won a giveaway from you for the PlayStation store and managed to cash out in a sale on digital games, Last of Us Remastered, CoD MW, Jedi Fallen Order Deluxe
Digital for the sake of my planet. Every little helps. Also the storage of physical games together with potential damage turns me off. We are in 21st century lads!!!
Gaming is awesome and so is owning a physical copy of the game. There’s just this awesome feeling of holding the game which you can’t describe. Although I absolutely love the convenience of digital games too. So I hope both forms stay as it is in the future as well.
Physical wins simply because you actually own it. However I wish physical copies of games came with digital codes like movies do, for convenience's sake.
@@SpawnPoiint Gaming is awesome. Although one caveat with game sharing is that while my friend across the country can play my digital games... my wife on the couch next to me can't unless she's signed into my account. This is because my friend's console is now the primary. Another reason why I'll go for disc first, but often double dip if the digital version goes on sale.
I still remember When GTA 5 was sitting on my couch in front of the main door on September 17, 2013. A moment I won’t forget. I still have that physical copy.
For me I like digital just because of the space I have my wife and I don’t have a lot of extra storage space so having digital allows us to have more space in the house for other items of importance but I do love physical games because of the art and the collection aspect but I think there is place for both! At the end of the day we all wanna enjoy games!
Physical for me with two reasons, u can get alot of games for the price of one digital game and when a game gets removed from the store fronts (Forza Horizon 2 and Project Cars 1 as a example) u have the option there and to be honest, digital only works well for indi titles due to a smaller budget in most cases
I'm about to get a PS5 and had to make the choice between digital and disc. I also have a gaming PC and am used to Steam, but there's something nostalgic about grabbing a disc and sliding it into the drive and getting comfy on the couch. However, the kicker for me was the ability to trade games and also get discounted games second-hand. A few I was looking at getting are less than half the price second-hand at the local games store (when compared to the PS Store).
What are your thoughts on this? Is it the end of physical games?
I have Physical games but sometimes I have Digital games like I have Xbox Series X console since November 2022 in Christmas present

But that could also be easily fixed by having the PlayStation recognize the disc and its serial number and deactivate the digital code on any other PlayStations
Polymega is the only console ik that does this, but I can see why because it's for retro games.
Physical all the time!!
Gaming is awesome! Personally, I've bought digital and physical games, and both formats have pros and cons. I think for at least one or two more console generations, we'll see physical games still being sold.
Physical games are like vinyl
I appreciate the physical copies, but recently I’ve been using my PS portal and having them all on the go is pretty cool
Physical, as much as i actually don't like to get up and change disc everytime i want to play a new game. I still enjoy keeping physical copies, to either trade with friends or use to decorate my setup.
Sounds like laziness
Gaming is awesome. Also what headphones do you have in your desk setup
Thanks for watching. I’m using the Astro a50 x
I’m digital my friend and i share my account so we go halves on the games we both want. Half on PlayStation premium too.
Physical disc 💯
I used to prefer physical but am a convert and now prefer digital media. This is mainly due to a lack of storage space, but also due to the many deals on digital games which often make them cheaper than physical. My only problem with digital games is that you technically dont own them. Overall it is down to personal preference. Great video.
both tbh but physical games like sp2, rdr2 i want them physical
95% of my games are digital but it's nice when you can have both
I enjoy physically changing my games!
Last physical game I ever own was for the ps3, I’ve been team digital throughout ps4 and 5
I thank you for making this videos you are a honest person
👑PHYSICAL👑
This was a great video, bro!! I personally prefer physically owning them for collecting purposes but digital is also cool i just dont enjoy the game as much digitally for some reason
Thanks dude.
Physical any day !!!!
I like both but if had to choose it would be a physical copy. I have PlayStation plus so I can get games included which are really good. I get monthly games as well.
Physical all the way.
I love that frame you have for vice city, where can you buy those?
GAMING IS AWESOME
Let's gooo. Thanks dude.
That diss on Foreskan was awesome lol
Hear me out. Digital game codes inside a physical case. 😂😏
I want this so bad it would be so convenient
As someone who buy his games in the digital form physical games are absolutely the winner!🎉
Physical is the best
Another thing to note about buying physical. Once you play and complete a newly released game and sell pretty early on for a good price, very often the game will either come out on PS Plus or game catalogue later down the road so you literally have had the best of both worlds and can replay at a later date digitally anyway. I've lost count of how many times i've bought a game and got the platinum, traded in and a few months later it comes out on game catalogue.
I love digital media, no dust, no noise, no risk of breaking, no taking up space
most of my games are digital PSN monthly games for a big reason but I won a giveaway from you for the PlayStation store and managed to cash out in a sale on digital games, Last of Us Remastered, CoD MW, Jedi Fallen Order Deluxe
I very much prefer physical games, but digital is much more convenient for me and I often end up buying digital game
What is that standing desk at 8:15?
Digital for the sake of my planet. Every little helps. Also the storage of physical games together with potential damage turns me off. We are in 21st century lads!!!
If you don’t like owning your own games and their better ways to help the planet
That would be cool
@@SpawnPoiint Gaming is awesome. Although one caveat with game sharing is that while my friend across the country can play my digital games... my wife on the couch next to me can't unless she's signed into my account. This is because my friend's console is now the primary.
Another reason why I'll go for disc first, but often double dip if the digital version goes on sale.
Then you would complain that physical costs more. You wouldn’t want to pay for the game twice.
@@Khloya69 No, considering I just said that I've bought the same game multiple times.
@@Khloya69atleast in my country most physical games are the same price or less
I still remember When GTA 5 was sitting on my couch in front of the main door on September 17, 2013. A moment I won’t forget. I still have that physical copy.
Physical All day
Yes man
For me I like digital just because of the space I have my wife and I don’t have a lot of extra storage space so having digital allows us to have more space in the house for other items of importance but I do love physical games because of the art and the collection aspect but I think there is place for both! At the end of the day we all wanna enjoy games!
The video game doesn’t care if you have it on disc or not. Digital is just so much more convenient.
Currently playing FFXVI and ZAU. Such a coincidence they were in this vid. Now I don't regret bingeing 😅
I like opening the discs
