Hey everyone! Thank you for your patience, unfortunately we had a monumental tech failure last week, which meant (for the first time in over a year) we missed the regular cadence as it was a real pain to sort - problem solved, here we are, hope you enjoy!
Calories aren't calories..microbes are everything. You dont make chutney or Kim chi, and that's why you're tiny.
@@sasquatchrosefartsor maybe because he runs and burns so many calories😂
I lost too much weight while training for ultramarathons a couple of years ago, its not easy to maintain. This video has made it quite clear I was under eating after the huge long runs. Trying to gain some weight back now with a more hybrid approach to training. Cheers!
same here
Eating is the hardest thing about fitness imo
Honestly I run 25-30km a week and even that is hard to eat enough alongside weight training and a intense job so much food so little timeeee
Killer content as usual good sir! I am really enjoying the animations - very nice touch.
My favorite UA-camr by far, love your videos lad I always look out for them 💪🏼
Loving your videos Fergus. Do you do any stretching/mobility work when not running or lifting? Would be good to see some of that in a video if you do! Keep up the good work!
This video came at a funny time as it arrived on the same day as a Body Builder who competed in the Olympia did a full day of eating. What I find fascinating is the difference in expenditures with the Hybrid Approach as opposed to the size approach. That said, I'm moving into the Hybrid realm with a BJJ competition and half marathon coming up this year which has my activity WAY up but wanting to make sure I don't under eat. This gave some great insight as well as your other video. Thank you for sharing!
Great work mate and very useful advice for not underfeeding also really enjoying your podcast too 👊
Hi Fergus, just to let you know that you posted the nutritional info for the entire veloforte chew pack each time you had 2 chews (out of 6). 2 chews are ony 56 calories & 13.6g carbs :)
Wicked intro and structure 👍
Thanks Fergus great info as every, and great video
Brilliant video!
Recognised the path along the Esk on the way to Musselburgh :) Nice coincidence as I'm watching for the nutrition info.
Came for the fitness, stayed for the doggos. Wholeheartedly agree on the lidl pizza bases, unreal!
Great content. ❤
Still watching but that toaster edit was SEAMLESS
@ferguscrawley in your longer nutrition video you mention the additional calories should come mostly from carbs...do you aim for a specific macro breakdown that's different than your daily macro breakdown?
Thank you so much for sharing! How much time did it take you to adapt to eating large amounts of calories during the day?
I work out about 12/14 hours a week. Split between 7 hours of gym and 6 hours running (50/60 km a week including trail running). My problem is when I try to eat about, let's say, over 3500 calories a day, I feel terrible. Probably I'm eating too clean, and almost all my macros come from sweet potatoes, quinoa, oats, and high-fiber food. Protein is something similar, chicken breast, tuna fish, tofu, protein powder, etc.
Thanks! and your content is amazing!
Great video man¡¡ how many times per week are you running and weight training?
Hi Fergus. Which road Altras do you wear? Just switched to a pair for the trails and loving them so far
underrated channel
Thanks man, appreciate it!
It was 65 and sunny for my run today down in the goof ol state of Georgia
What running shoes you wearing for this Fergus?
I'm new tp your channel great stuff btw i'm a aged sawn off hybrid ..10 k 3 times a week one 13 Mile and 1 tempo run ..how often do You lift and do You only power lift or do a bit of body building?
Im not an ultra runner or triathlete but I found this video really interesting
How many calories and protein would you recommend for a 110lb distance runner, trying to maintain muscle too?
Hi, love the vids! Currently training for a half marathon, and was wondering how hard I should be training on my leg days?
How do you think a hybrid athletes; Nutrition, training periodisation, and lifestyle compares to that of a high level sports athlete (eg football, basketball, rugby etc.).
Thanks 😁.
Sriracha and mayo. Delicious!
It can be especially challenging with things like running because they can severely impact appetite, at least in my experience
Why a 4hr long run? I've seen recommendations for 1hr to 2.5hr. Do ultra athletes tend to go for 3-4?
Man with culture watching Friends🤌 6/5
What MacBook do you use bro?
A proper Badass!
how is the 4x4 challenge going?
How do you plan the route for your long runs? Would not know where to start in my area, its very small!
Simply run where you want. Explore.
What do you think about when you run?
How comes your base is only 2500cal? For 90KG and for the amount of muscle mass you have that seems like more of an agressive cut just to shed the weight of quicker? Love your videos btw, very informative especially. I like watching them all as mental prep for the Edinburgh marathon, seeing how hard the stuff you do makes me feel like it will be easy ahah
Not necessarily. My kcal intake to maintain weight is not much higher than 2500 and I am 92kg. I lost 15kg a while ago and had to go to 1700kcal at some point for further progress.
Living the dream eating two pizzas for tea!
You remind me of Adam Rickitt the actor.
You don't track the butter/ marg?
Hello I ask myself is this healthy ? To eat 2 Pizza and then Ice Cream. When I eat so much in the evening I cant sleep and got stomach pain.
I’m currently marathon training with 5 runs and 3 weight training days per week. I’m eating around 3200 calories every day pretty consistently. And it feels like I’m only maintaining. I’m really struggling to not lose strength on this journey and it’s sad. (for context I’m 20 and 72kg) any tips?
I wouldn't worry about lifting too much. Run 6-7 days per week. But it depends on what your goals are.
I did about 10 miles a couple of weeks ago fasted. I want to start eating while running to help fuel my body. How big of a difference does it make?
I just started focusing on this if I run anything over 15km, and it is a GAME changer!
What work do you bro?
🙌
Great video! In regards to not eating enough calories to allow the right results, can not eating enough calories increase likelihood of injury (recovery progress etc?)
Yes it truly can, highly recommend reading about RED-S
What is the minimum duration of exercise that you would take onboard calories during?
For me, it's a marathon or longer
How do avoid lack of energy due to sports? I exercise about 5x per week and some of that happens in the morning. Then often I feel totally down the whole working day.
How is your sleep? 8+ hours per night? How is your nutrition?
@@MrJanja93 sleep is ok (~7h) but with interruptions due to a 3 months old child. Nutrition is quite good in regards of protein, I only try to eat garbage at sunday 😛 but sometimes already it starts at saturday with that.
@@dsd6538 In terms of recovery I'm a totally different person on 7 as I am on 8-9, maybe try to sleep a bit earlier if thats possible and see what it does for you.
@@SUPER8ALTERN8 yes I may have to try that actually, maybe that is the problem
@@dsd6538 Don't beat yourself up about it either you have a 3 month old child - its a lot easier for a full time athlete to handle recovery and stress. Good luck!
How many 20 milers per week do you do?
How do you deal with Garmin GPS inaccuracies in your run? If you end up running an extra couple miles how do you account for that in your training volume?
Do you use ALTRA running shoes?
I do
Imagine that! A man from Scotland eating oatmeal! 🤪
That tash is so very very quaffable ! Bijingo
What was your average heart rate during your run?
Yay got the first view haha
🤝
I get the company gives you money but, alcohol free larger? Why would anyone bother. Drink larger or don’t. Nobody drinks larger for the taste. That’s like smoking thc free weed. Pointless.
That breakfast 🤙
