Before I make an ass of myself, could you explain the numbers in your results. They seem low for someone who hasn’t trained or ran a marathon. Do those times include stops and walking? I’m trying to train for a 5k next month and I’m a slow ass runner averaging a 12:30 mile. At the moment I’m focusing on distance and endurance not speed someone recommended it.

I'm doing my first ever race, a 10k, in about a month and I'm both excited and nervous, haha. but slowly increasing volume over past month has shoved amazing progress, you'd be surprised how much you can improve in the beginning. it will probably slow down, but it's still a great feeling. and yeah, don't make my mistake and don't push too hard. like, if in the last week you've done 5k, don't go for a 10k, even if you feel it in you. trust me, your body WON'T be thankful for that, haha. I've done that while running with a friend, felt good, wanted to impress him and then has to take a few trainings off because of the soreness and pain. gradual increase is the key

A 1h57 half marathon is not too shabby! For my first ever half marathon, I trained for months and completed it in 1h55. I weigh a lot less than you do too. It's just that beyond the 21.1km mark, it takes something special to keep running.
I learned about nipple chafing and groin chafing during my half marathon training, so incorporated that for my first ever marathon. For me, vaseline and surgical tape over my nipples works best. Glad that you made him lube up right at the beginning of this.
As a sub 4 marathon runner, I would have been mildly upset if he had met his goal... My aim for my first marathon was sub 4 and I made it with 16 weeks of training. Fast forward and I'm now a sub 3h30 finisher.

I’m running my first ever race… a 15k in preparation for my first half marathon. I just completed a 15k run in 1h 23min in my training… I’m looking forward to finishing that 15k race, and then doing my first half marathon, I hope to do it at around 1h 55min :) anyone doing a half marathon under 2h is considered a pretty decent runner, so my respect to Sam.

Just done that few weeks ago and its no problem doing marathon with no training as long as you dont have to hit any specific time

I recently ran a marathon after 1 week of training after 8 weeks of no run due to a hip fracture, half was fine but the rest was a slog and Barcalona was hot

Sam's moustache reminds me of the old pugilist photos of the early 20's, and Sam seems to be made of the same stock. Good on him for sticking it out!

Completing a marathon with no training is definitely achievable but not many can run the entire 26 miles with no training unless you are into some other sport or fitness regime. Fair play to anyone that does it though. I've run over 100 marathons and still struggle without any training but its all about goals and what you want from the experience

    Welldone Sam
    You are my Hero 😂
    Great video guys
I trained for 6 months specifically on cardio before my first 1/2 marathon and at 42 years old i ran it in 1:53
I ran 5 organised half events and then a few longer training runs before running my first full marathon in 4:32 at age 44
At 57 years old my half pb is 1:43 and my full pb is 3:57 after many years of running
To run full with virtually no cardio training at all is very brave
    Welldone again
    🏃‍♂️👍
