Why are you refraining from eating eggs …. They are not technically dairy products as they have no milk by products. It is just a function of retail classification that eggs are considered dairy - not their specific genus.

@@trentlandis7601 I can understand the if you do not want to eat something based on your individual idea of morality pertaining to food source, but the cholesterol comment was factually incorrect. Cholesterol in itself is not bad for you. Breast milk and prior to breast milk a woman produces colostrum, which is made up of nothing but fat and cholesterol. Colostrum is extremely healthy and vital to a baby’s health. Healthy fats and cholesterol from pure sources are not the issue. Type two diabetics and those on the verge on becoming diabetic have change the course of their health by eating health fats and consuming good cholesterol while getting rid of processed carbs and unneeded sugar along with daily exercise.

Plant based diet is the only way to go. I went full plant based two years ago and I feel the best I have felt in 25 years. I’m 42 and in the best shape and health of my life. As a triathlete I've also had a food intolerance test done a couple of years ago and also cut a lot of foods that were part of my day to day diet. I've since discovered that if you are eating a lot of the same foods you will develop an intolerance to that food. Just by reducing/cutting back the intake of these foods will rectify the intolerance problem.
What I'm trying to say is just because you're intolerant to certain foods doesn't mean you'll always be intolerant.

    • @runnerX007

FYI food intolerance testing is not accurate and typically are based on measuring IgG antibodies which should be present by anybody after eating whatever food they are flagging.
Sadly, there is no "test" for intolerances [if only it could be so simple!]--the only way to identify an intolerance is through trial & error or elimination/reintroduction.

Oh, as a gluten and lactose malabsorbant, I need to comment on this one.
Lucy, you might be in luck: you likely can eat dairy provided it doesn't contain lactose.
That means you can probably eat eggs. Also, choose lacto-free milk, butter, etc (look out for Arla produce). Not all dairy contains lactose, which is what you're likely to be intolerant to. It's worth experimenting because eggs are too good.
For gluten-free breads, the only 2 brands that aren't powdery and act like "normal" bread are Warburtons and Schar.
Pizza tip: White Rabbit. 100% gf and vegan. They use substitute cheese with MozzaRisella. It tastes good also.

@@kjml129 For some people certain food intolerance could be so clear they don't need any test at all. I am intolerant to milk (even lactose free milk is not too ok). When I have it, I get nausea, severe stomach pain attacks and passing soft stool or diarrhea. I only cut out milk from usual diet and the bad effects stop. Occasionally I think it could be just a coincidence or it's just my imagination, so I try milk and I get sick again. Maybe the whole thing is still psychological (which can cause physiological problems) and I am really not intolerant to milk, and I should do a blind test or something. Then I would have to see some kind of specialist psychologist to cure me of this reverse-placebo (something making me sick for no medical reason) effect to milk. It's easier to just cut out milk.

Butter has such a small amount of lactose in it that people who are lactose intolerant often find they can tolerate it. I always wondered why i couldn't tolerate milk and most cheeses but was fine with butter. I did some research and that clarified things.
Added to above is the fact that you'd need to be eating tonnes of butter in one go to feel any side effects because of a lactose intolerance.

As a Vegan, and Triathlete, I found this very interesting indeed; and not from the aspect people would think. I feel it's super important if people are not feeling great to go get themselves tested. Food intolerance can cause so many issues if not diagnosed and understood. Seems Lucy can be a Flexatarian and eat some meats if she wishes but has to be careful on other things. Mixing plant based foods is a fantastic way to balance overall health; though yes I myself would prefer people to adopt a full plant based/Vegan diet. when you say you are intolerant to certain foods, it could be intolerance to how that food was processed, as most foods are heavily processed in US. but if you could find organic naturally made foods, your intolerance may go away. also gut biome is something to consider. this is a new field where they have found that for some reason (could be antibiotics) some people lose some of their bacteria that help breakdown food and as a result they can't break it down anymore, and the body doesn't produce them anymore. they say c-section also causes babies not to receive these healthy bacteria from their mothers and become intolerant as well. I myself have been intolerant to dairy and gluten for years. funny thing is, it gets better at times. milk still makes me sick, but I could have other types of dairy. also pastries and bread used to make me bloat, but for the last few years I have moved to middle east, and their flat bread doesn't make me sick at all. so I have doubts about gluten or even lactos to be the real cause.

    - Alpro has two oat milks made to taste like milk. There's a 3.8% and 1.8% version, and I find them really great in tea since they taste like milk (and in my opinion they taste like what milk wishes it could be!).
    - Veganz is my favourite brand for any cheat-y foods. Specifically, their vegan coconut chocolate bar (decadent), lemon cookies (amazing), and any of their pizza (not bad for vegan cheese!)

Therefore oats can be contaminated with a small amount of gluten. @@jamiefuhrman403 Well, as most of the science is done on men most of the recommendations you would normalöy get are referring to mens bodies. That is why Dr. Sims is doing research with women - to complement the knowledge we already have and incorporate women.

Hey if you were looking for milk that is lactose-free but tastes like normal milk. give lactose-free milk a try it tastes the exact same. I'm actually lactose and gluten free and I drink that and it is not an issue for me and I am a competitive swimmer and that doesn't affect my training whatsoever

Arla lactose free milk is a game changer! Tastes just like skimmed milk, without the lactose. Tesco and most other supermarkets also have their own lactose free milk options too - much better for teas and coffee than oat/almond/soy milk

In the UK Pizza Express is a good spot to get Gluten Free pizza with vegan cheese. They also have vegan gluten free desserts carrot cake was amazing!
Something else you can try if you still want beef is wild game meats like boar, venison, or moose. I found duck eggs to impact less than chicken eggs if you still want eggs.

I'm interested to know how the blood test works. When I did an intolerance test to fructose it was a breath rest with a week long prep. I had to eliminate all probiotics a week out and the day before I could only eat meat and eggs ie no fruit, veg, grains or dairy, then I had to fast from dinner the day before. It was so horrible I never went back for the dairy tolerance test. With such involved prep I have to wonder about the blood test. Did you get assurances it was accurate. Seems a lot easier.
