There used to be a series on CMT called Crossroads; I happened to catch the one that paired Pat Benatar with Martina McBride. Two diminutive ladies with huge vocal abilities, and while Country isn't my 'thing', I loved this pairing. There are now numerous channels on UA-cam that are about folk's reaction to music outside their normal listening zone; they don't strike me as authentic music lovers, whilst Jamel does. Her album "Crimes of Passion" has always been in my rotation for the last 30 something years. She was also the second music video ever shown on MTV when MTV came on the air with her cover of "You Better Run". Her song "Precious Time" is my personal fave, Neil Geraldo's guitar work is phenomenal on that song....
In a world of poseurs, Pat was no damn poseur. Pat can sing the hell out of anything. Pat, the Wilson sisters (aka Heart), and Linda Ronstadt made sure women were properly represented in Rock in the 70s and into the 80s.
Trust me on this one......’One Love’ by Pat Is incredible. The message is absolutely beautiful and perfect in these days where hope and strength need a louder voice. She can rock with the best of them. But she can open eyes when it’s needed. Much respect to you my friend. Keep filling my days with your musical journey, I’m with you every step of the way.
Pat Benatar is a classically trained opera singer, who ruled the rock world for a minute when I was in high school. She married her guitar player, and they are still rocking. Her first two albums, Crims of Passion and In The Heat of The Night were killer. By the time of her third album MTV had come to exist, and she launched the whole first wave of bad 80's fashion.

I am so glad you are discovering one of the greatest voices in rock. She has no match as far as I'm concerned. I was a teenager during the 80s, so I'm thankful I could experience all of this growing up. I'm so glad you are discovering what actual singing is and what true rock and roll is keep it up. Promises in the dark is another one of my all-time favorites of hers. I think it shows her vocal range probably the best.
Pat Benetar's "You Better Run" from her "Crimes of Passion" album was the 2nd video ever played on MTV back in 1981. The entire album is solid with multiple hits. One of my favorites in that era. Her husband, Neil, is a phenomenal guitarist!

His dreams probably come complete with soundtrack (as do my own); hope he continues his musical odyesy. Peace.
"Invincible" is my personal favorite! Used as theme song for the movie The Legend of Billie Jean
That's a killer band right there...Pat's husband Neil Geraldo is a fantastic guitar player (he played the cool solo on Rick Sprinfield's song...Jessie's Girl), and the drummer..Myron Grombacher was one of the best ever....Yes Jamal...You are essential!!!...
So many great songs by her: Love is a Battlefield, Hell is for Children, Invincible, Shadows of the Night, Promises in the Dark, We Belong. There are a ton to choose from!
Treat Me Right also was a hit, released the year after this one.
@@dawnbt1d110 Yes! Forgot that one. My dad was a huge fan, so he had all of her albums. Been listening to Pat Benatar since I was a kid.
Crimsonams it was a great time for music! I just started high school when “Heartbreaker” was released. I feel both old and young when I watch these reaction videos 😊
I love all of her songs. Fantastic singer. Get Nervous, Promises In The Dark, Little Too Late and You Better Run. (2nd video ever played on MTV.) Her last name is pronounced Ben a tar= Benatar. Can’t believe she hasn’t been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame yet. Shame on you RRHoF
I would like recommend another tune titled "Fire and Ice."
Great song..!
Promises in the Dark showcases some of that range, too!
Love fire and ice, one of my favorites!
Pat Benatar Promises In The Dark. Her vocals are unbelievable!! You will not regret it.
I always remember the drummer being that way, very memorable drummer
Her album "Crimes of Passion" has always been in my rotation for the last 30 something years. She was also the second music video ever shown on MTV when MTV came on the air with her cover of "You Better Run". Her song "Precious Time" is my personal fave, Neil Geraldo's guitar work is phenomenal on that song....
In a world of poseurs, Pat was no damn poseur. Pat can sing the hell out of anything.
Pat, the Wilson sisters (aka Heart), and Linda Ronstadt made sure women were properly represented in Rock in the 70s and into the 80s.
She was huge in the 80's. Love is a Battlefield, We Belong, Invincible are some of my favorites.
Other pioneer women of rock: Lita Ford andJoan Jett...you already covered Heart a little!
And the Pretenders.
It astonishes me that so many of the huge acts from the late 70s to early 80s appear to be totally unknown to the current generation.
Drummer is Myron Grombacher, he is a bit strange but a solid drummer.
I remember having the live VHS tape from 82 (I think?) and watching him drum while standing up and skipping around just blew me away.
He always looks away from the cymbal he is hitting
Her husband is the guitarist. At 5’2, Pat was a powerhouse.
I dying to know who he through sang this
This song kicks ass. As for Pat, big love.
She was so talented. This is fully realized when you hear someone try to cover one of her songs.
I have a request " Frankenstein ", by Edgar Winter. The one where they play inside a studio or room.
You want the one from The Midnight Special
@@matthewshropshire71 that one will do also, theres another one where they perform without an audience, but its good.
I would LOVE to get his reaction to that! Do it dude! Edgar winter will blow you away!
But he has to show the live 1973 version when you can see Edgar playing all the different instruments. He’s amazing!
@@sallyvandevoorde9575 Yes!, talk about multi tasking. He will see it done on that performance!!!!
She was classic trained opera singer and she married her guitar player
Pat Benatar is a classically trained opera singer, who ruled the rock world for a minute when I was in high school. She married her guitar player, and they are still rocking. Her first two albums, Crims of Passion and In The Heat of The Night were killer. By the time of her third album MTV had come to exist, and she launched the whole first wave of bad 80's fashion.
I hear ya, same here in HS, ultimate rock chick!! After getting out of the serivce, was going to college, like 10 years later, then she came on the Electric Lunch, playing the older classic rock, then they played htis...was like NOOOOOOOO, knew I was getting old!! hahahaah....Was some great music.....
I love this great song from 1979. Love how the band plays so well. Love your reaction too.
I am so glad you are discovering one of the greatest voices in rock. She has no match as far as I'm concerned. She now opens the door for so many contemporary singers, and they owe her a hell of a debt. I grew up listening to Pat Benatar and many others of her generation back then. I was a teenager during the 80s, so I'm thankful I could experience all of this growing up. I'm so glad you are discovering what actual singing is and what true rock and roll is keep it up. Promises in the dark is another one of my all-time favorites of hers. I think it shows her vocal range probably the best.
Please do " Hell Is For Children" by Pat Benatar
YES
Be a good little boy, and you'll get a new toy.....
@@2869may ...tell Grandma you fell off the swing...
Pat Benetar; You should check out...
Love is a Battlefield
Hit me With your Best Shot
6:33 Leg warmers! You're talking about LEG WARMERS! I had a pair back in the day. Then the '90s hit.
Pat Benetar's "You Better Run" from her "Crimes of Passion" album was the 2nd video ever played on MTV back in 1981. The entire album is solid with multiple hits. One of my favorites in that era. Her husband, Neil, is a phenomenal guitarist!
Love this song. I also must say I really like how respectful you are and how you can express yourself without using foul expletives. Thank you for that, and thank you for great reactions.
When you think of tasty guitar solos of rock songs, Heartbreaker by Pat Benatar is not the first song that comes to mind, but damn it that guitarist can shred! And I love how the solo closes the song out... very creative and riske
I would love to see you review "At Seventeen" by Janis Ian. From the Midnight special live performance 1976 . Not sure if it will be allowed. Such a sad and beautiful song from an incredibly talented woman.
I recently download this song, I had loved it years ago when I was teenager. I'm a Scorpio and an introvert so this song was perfect LOL
Yes, please!
I saw her on tour a couple years back, she still has wicked pipes.
Listen to “Promises in the dark”
Yes
The drop into the chorus to this day is still absolutely dope...and the bridge with that operatic power harmony is pure gold! Benatar is a rock legend!
Pint sized, powerhouse & with opera training....killer vocals & absolutely beautiful. Pat Benatar💕. She is one of the reasons MTV was huge. She was on constant rotation in the early days of MTV.
"Dont let it show" is a great song by Pat
Myron Grombacher is one of the most underrated drummers in rock music. He's solid AF.
Ahhh, yes, Pat Benatar. Amazing singing voice. "Promises in the Dark" is another good one of hers, I'd check that out if I were you. :D
Dude Pat Rocks! Her vocals are crazy. She’s a professionally trained opera singer that’s why she can hit those high notes! 🤘🏻🤘🏻💓
Another great female voice in rock! Not the longevity, or prolifity, of Heart, but she does have some great songs!
When are you gonna do more of her? Hell is For Children, Promises in the Dark, the title track from The Legend of Billy Jean, & if you really want to hear her vocal range, Wuthering Heights.
We on the badass rock women right now? Runaways: cherry bomb or Joan Jett bad reputation
Yes! Please, some Joan Jett.
Wendy O. Williams and the Plasmatics. She was bad in a scary kind of way.
Oh yeah, Joan Jett and Blondie too.
Pretenders
Heart.
I got to see her in concert many years ago. I would like to request "Shadows of the Night", and "We Belong"
So many great Pat songs. Hell is for Children, Promises in the Dark, Fire and Ice, Precious Time, Painted Desert & Outlaw Blues... to name a few.
IMHO, the greatest female Rock n Roll female vocalist to come out of the 80's.
My 16 year old daughter is in awe (as I remain)
