The Bandit Killer

- Second Lt. George S. Patton, accompanied by eight soldiers and two civilian guides, approaches San Miguelito Ranch on a foraging mission near Dublán, Mexico, in May 1916. He positions two carloads of soldiers and a guide at the southern wall around the hacienda and its two gates. He and the remaining two soldiers park their car northwest of the compound. As they make their way east along the low north wall, heading toward the big arch of the main gate, three horsemen dash out of the hacienda into the courtyard and head southeast, running right into the Americans stationed there. The Mexicans wheel around and charge toward Patton, but Patton shoots one rider and wounds another, who later dies at the hands of one of Patton’s guides. Patton shoots the third rider and kills him. The shoot-out gains international headlines, and Patton is dubbed the “Bandit Killer,” paving the way for him to accompany Gen. John “Black Jack” Pershing to Europe the next year in World War I. Patton made his mark in World War II as a general in North Africa, Sicily, and Europe. #wildwest #history #cowboy

Shame on you Patton NEVER carried a pearl handled Colt. His pistols were ivory handled. He is quoted as saying "Only a New Orleans pimp would carry a pearl handled gun."
I think one of his pistols was pearl handled. I think it was the .32 he wore in his waste band in ww2
@@flhxri waist band? Patton? No. Pearl - definitely not
Patton was an Olympic shooter. He placed fifth in the 1912 Olympic Games Pentathlon event! Pistol shooting, fencing, cross country running, swimming, horse riding; all the things a military messenger needed to know how to do.
Thanks, that was a Patton fact I never knew. I have read before that he was uncannily accurate with a handgun.
A couple of points for you Josh. George S Patton Jr. never had a pearl handle on his revolvers , they were ivory handled. Also General Pershings had several cars, none of which was Ford model T. The cars were from the REO Car Company. All else that you stated very entertaining and possibly correct on George's mind. The Germans in WW2 called Patton " ruthless" one hell of a fine compliment.
Love these podcasts
Man, glad you put this one back out. It is fantastic. As others have said, don’t sweat it brother. Family comes first.
Recognized the picture instantly. Like him, love him or hate him, he was something else. A very interesting person.
Love what you're doing josh. Don't get worked up worrying about us. We'll be here when they come out. Family comes first bro. Much love.
This is most definitely one of your best.
Josh you are one hellofva story teller! Keep 'em comin.'
Gracias
Thank you so much, Josh. You rock!
You rock
Enjoyed this as I enjoy all. My grandfather was his personal body guard during the war.
I always thought Patton was a lot of mouth, til I hear this story. He was a gunfighter, who learned his experience, like no one else could from CW veterans.
Great content. I play your podcasts in the car while driving my mother around running errands. She likes it as much as I do. Keep up the good work!
It's nice to be spoiled, as always thank you very much for your time and effort. Peace
Love these I’m currently binging all episodes
I just got off work, the timing g was great
No worries. Be safe and stay positive. Enjoy that little girl, they grow up quickly (but they will always be daddy’s girls no matter the age).
Josh, you are a great storyteller! I loved this episode! Thanks.
Great story. Always told with a passion. Thanks for taking us there. Take care. Great job again.
Great one for sure!
Thank you so much for your videos. You do an awesome job.
Thank you
No worries. Keep’m coming
10/10 making a dnd character inspired by this
There's no such thing as a single shot revolver. 😖
*action
Yeah, I cringed when I heard it! I meant to say single action.
@@WildWestExtravaganza I'll forgive you this once. Next time though, you'll have too send nudes..
I think George C. Scott did such a good job in the movie Patton that whenever I think of General Patton, George's face pops up in my mind. "Thank the general and tell him I have no desire to drink with him or any other Russian son of a bitch."
Know what I love most about your channel Josh?
Sometimes you dont nail it perfect. Your more story teller than staunch history recounter. But you get it close enough we know what you meant.
Im currently trying to watch all your videos and not wanting to get to the end of any of em.
Patton talking about how he was probably a Roman soldier threw me.He was still a great general.
George S. Patton, was a born soldier. And one of the few men I'd admired in my youth. He was a true American hero, that deserves remembering.
I'm stating the obvious, but this is really well-written.
Thank you!!!
"Who wasn't really all that young"
That's, "Single ACTION Revolver." Years ago, the History Channel did a re-creation of this incident on a series called "Shoot Out," and it was pretty Damn good too. It's definitely worth watching, and I highly recommend it.
Awe-ite!
Bloody Beaver rides again!
Wonderful!!!
Many thanks!!
Wait, there are more episodes than what I see on UA-cam? ***Sudden panic /excitement***
Ah no, I did hear it before - but it's a great one, worth listening to again! Cheers :)
Dear Sir, Thou art a flippin' poet. I perfectly adore yore art!❤😊😂
Wow, thank you
I’ve heard Patton’s musings on past lives before. Is it true? If it isn’t, it ought to be
This is a great one Josh.
I got excited when. I noticed it was a 5 hour old post like I do on current event type videos. Then you gave a shout out to David Allen my il man's name we both looked at eachother mouths wide open but we agree it was most likely to another David Allen however that's two shout outs we thought was someone in our family. Lol Amy Rachelle is still waiting on hers!
Dam Colonel that shit was deeeeeep
Ivory grips on that Colt. Only Bourbon St. Pimps would carry a pearl handle pistol.
I dig that about Culloden and the House of Stuart :D my mother is a Stuart and my old grandpa used to tell me stories of Scots history
Damned good little story
Can you do more on natives bro you are the goat at this man
Tragic and frustrating to look back at the advice and strong opinions that Patton had during WWII and was ignored. Costing many thousands of lives when ignored. Market Garden being one big terrible mistake. A mistake Patton tried desperately to argue against. No surprise that part of his wisdom and willingness to sleep on the ground with his troops came from being exposed to some of the old western wise men.
I was looking for one last night. All good though
Single Action Revolver
Yep, I messed that up
It was a fun one!
ivory handles only for Patton
Correct, I messed up
Was he really "all that young"?
Thought the Corona gotya
God bless Texas and Rest in peace Patton.
Single shot revolver? Huh?
I mispoke?
Yeah Cowpoke. In the first minute or so, you said single shot revolver@@WildWestExtravaganza At first I thought it might be one of your lame jokes (which I love) because you seem to be knowledgeable about firearms, so I could not believe you would really believe a revolver could be single shot, or you actually meant a single action revolver & misspoke. Later, near the end of the video, you did in fact say single action, but I had already written my response.
I am new to your podcast. I found you when I was trying to find out about Brushy Bill. I really enjoy your style & your sense of humour, so I subscribed & have been going through all of your videos, one by one.
I am an interstate truckie in Australia, who really was born way too late into this world. I would have easily fit in the wild west time period, so enjoy your content. It is great listening to you while driving these endless highways.
Also congratulations on your daughter. I have twin daughters who were also born prematurely & spent nearly a month in NICU
What is a single shot revolver
Loved the passion in your story of going back in time analyzing Great men.
Hug your wife and kiss the baby.💯
Patton would Not Carry a "Pimp" Pistol Lol get them details Right Beav, C'mon Man 🤠
My bad
Any chance you would attempt an episode dedicated to Teddy Roosevelt?
Absolutely
