The Last OUTLAW | The Manhunt of Harry Tracy

  • Considered by some to be the last of Butch Cassidy’s Wild Bunch, Harry Tracy blasted his way out of prison in the summer of 1902. What followed was one of the most desperate man hunts in all of U.S. history. Over the course of the next two months, Tracy would lead hundreds of lawmen, including the National Guard, on a deadly game of chase that would see at least 7 men gunned down. According to the papers of his time, “In all of the criminal lore of the country, there is no record equal to that of Harry Tracy for cold-blooded nerve, desperation, and a thirst for crime. Jesse James, compared with Tracy, is a Sunday School teacher.” But who was the real Harry Tracy? Where’d he come from? What started him on a life of crime? And did he really ride with Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid? #history #wildwest #truecrime

Your voice is identical to a friend, a guy from North Carolina, that I was a peer for 8 years. No talking about accent, I mean your voice is identical. I heard him often on conference calls and live when we were at Corporate for meetings.
He lives close to Winston Salem and is a really great guy. Married, Dad of 3 sons/grown now, and back in the day he would have a drink of whiskey or 5 and a cigar.
A fine Christian man by any Southern Protestants standards and a big heart.
      Good man.
I'm going to share one of your videos/audio's with him. (Mike Jeffries, in case ya get a msg.)
You guys should talk to each other, it is hands down amazin'!

Good piece. Been watching your backlog of late, was pleasantly pleased to see Tracy pop up. I was raised in Lincoln County, long hearing the stories of Harry Tracy. As a teen, we camped regularly in the cave Tracy is said to have hid out in for a couple three days, on Wilson Creek, South of Almira. He supposedly bummed food off the local rancher, I think then it was the Peter McKay family, though the ranch is known locally as the Kiner Ranch (KII actually). He IS a challenge to research, have taken a couple pokes at it over time, fighting the complete crap stories was a battle. The whole Wild Bunch attachment also eluded me, no matter where I scraped around. Love your work, could happily choke you occasionally on pronunciation, but you at least do the leg work! Keep up the good work. Don't let nitpicking A-holes like me bum ya out! heh heh heh

What you said about him forcing his way into peoples homes being traumatic. Leaving the men With the feeling of inadequacy... hits home with me. When i was deployed to iraq. when we would do a raid on a house. Looking for Local Al qaeda fighters... you can see it in the mens eyes. This deep inadequacy of being tied up in front of his wife and kids. After the enemy storms his house And he couldn't do anything about it.. i would never want that to happen to me. Knowing you couldn't protect your family. Or worse your family knowing you cant protect them. i fear that more than death.

Hi Josh excellent and fascinating video. What gets me about the old west is the offbeat asides to stories like is the home of gunfighter Ben Thompson still standing in his birthplace of Knottingley West Yorkshire over here in the UK and did Butch Cassidy on his way to South America with Sundance and Etta Place come over to Liverpool for him to visit his relatives in Preston,Lancashire. Loving the channel Josh. Very best wishes. Jim Harrison. Cheshire UK.

A man breaks into my house then sends me to fetch him 2 45s.. I'd get em. I Do believe however I wouldn't give them to him butt first. Tracy was sneaky and mean but sometimes that doesn't matter when your family is threatened. I can be sneaky and mean too. Shoot Josh, I may have curled up in a ball on the floor crying like a baby. ☹
Morbid people. Crazy what they do to get a piece of him. I was in Baxter Springs KS today. Went to the area where Quantrill raid happened. Baxter.. A lot of history around here. Shoot, Bonnie and Clyde hid out in a house in South Joplin. It was on my paper route.
Never really know what one would do when in danger. Great episode. Hug the wife, kiss the baby.👊 Happy Thanksgiving ! And the Boys will probably lose.

We have prison channels that are convicted, drug dealers, strong arm robbers, break & enter thieves, car thieves etc etc but they don't hurt women even though they have 1/2 dozen family law court cases. But they tell good war stories so ppl believe they are "Good Thugs".

The lady working the desk thought I was a guy they had kicked out the previous week, although I had never been there. And I was put in handcuffs one time, due to falling asleep in a parking lot across from a bank, Not in the bank parking lot. Just beside it and the lady opening the bank called the police.
