That was one of the best cinema 4d tutorials I've ever seen! Alone with this video I've learned like 30 new things you can do which I didn't know before. Really good video 👍😉
I do not know how to thank you EJ!! I am learning a lot from you. I do support your channel and appreciate your effort in these tutorials to teach us new skills in C4D.
For Cinema R21, before Dress O Matic, in Caps Type put Regular Grid, and display > on the left of Caps Type to insert the size and tick Quad Dominant :D
A few days ago I saw a tv commercial and it had 3D balloons in it. I was wondering how to make those balloons easy, and BAM you did tutorial. Keep surprising me! :D
This is so good!! i didnt understand why th dress-o-matic was snapping off whenever i clicked anything after i completed the tutorial.... and then you covered it with the set button! Thank you so much!! Amazing and fun tutorial as always!!
PLEASE HELP! I am new to C4D. I have R23 version and at 3:27 (create single object button is not where you show it to be, because I can't find this button by the time I get to make the circle editable it turns the circle into a spline instead of an object. I have even tried to add a connector generator aaaand you guessed it....still turns the circle into a spline. What do I do? where is the "Make single object' option under the extrude properties in cinema 4D R23 please. Thank you for taking the time to read.
I'm yet to watch the video but just in a greatfull mood; so thank you all very much the C4D gods(EJ is the zeus in this case, just fucks around and gives us the greatest tuts.)
Love the tutorial, big question I am using the demo cinema 4D and was wondering if there was another way to do the HDRI rig without having to buy it since I am a broke college student?
Thanks! and yes there is, just create a Sky Object and create a new material, in the luminance channel you'll want to find an HDRI image and load it up in the luminance, then apply this material to the Sky Object, add a Compositing Tag, check off "Seen by Camera" and viola, that's the manual way to create this type of rig!
So hard to follow this because the UI you have is so far out of date to what's on there now. Missing things like "Regular Grid" @ around the 4 minute mark. Would be great to have a new one.
Please make a tutorial about Cinema's cloth system and cloth simulations. Like I imagine that it can do a lot of Marvelous Designer stuff, but it's hard to understand how.
Thank you very much for the aweresome tutorials. If I don´t have the HDRI GCGorila plugin how can I see in the render the reflections? what do I have to do? thank you.
Hye EJ..I follow all your steps but it's not working. Only effected on the side polygon. Not include the cap. wonder how you can make that cap and side polygon shrinking together. Is there is any setting that I overlooked?
Thanks for watching! For complex characters you may want to just sculpt the little seams, but if the character is fairly simple and uses simple geometry, you could use this method.
Hi there is there any chance you can create these balloons but use a deflate to inflate animation on it? May sound like a stupid question but just need to know if it’s possible to create this animation on these style of balloons
Amazing tut: clear, fun, useful. How would you make a mylar balloon out of some lips for example, or an object that has extra seams right across it? Thanks again!
Hello, I'm Brazilian and I like your tutorials, I think you could start to list the shortcuts you use in the image tutorials, so we who do not have fluent English would be able to get better results so that it would be better. I used Google translator to write you this, hug!
Awesome tutorial. I really love it EJ. I press like before i see it ;p Question: I have made a fish mylar with the tutorial but what about texturing. The Spherical projection not work well. I try cylindrical but same bad result. Any tips;
Hey there! This tutorial is giving me so much understanding!! How exactly do i go about getting the presets for the HDRI and lighting setups? thank you in advance :-)
Hi EJ really good tutorial thanks, I really love the effect; a lot. I would like ask you a question about it, cause every time I apply the result is always thin; doesn't looks like yours. I'm doing exactly as you do in settings with the cloth, but when I click dress o matic the result is super thin and I don't understand why. I tried different settings about steps and width but nothing change. Hope you will see the comments and help me about it cause I really love the effect but is not easy find the solution on the web. Thanks
I have a question, if I want to use force tag to show this as a shrink wrap would it work? If no then what would be the best way to do this? I'm aware of the shrink wrap tutorial but I want a look similar to a proper shrink wrap, not just the circular all round shrink wrap. Thank you.
Hello, cool vid, but i don't know why, but whene i select the side of my object, add cloth and dress-o-matic, my selection compress imself and the front + back don't move. Can you help me ?
Just the tips I provide in the video, make sure the letters aren't too skinny or you won't get a good result. Make sure they're nice and thick and follow the tutorial and you should be in good shape!
Hey Dear EJ I have a problem that I'll thank you if you explain it to me. I have created an "M" shape with a pen spline. also, I've changed the sharp points to the smooth ones with the chamfer tool. but when I do Drees-a-Matic, my M shape goes to the jagged one. It seems to be very crumpled. every time I changed the based parameters such as Maximum Length on subdivided and also Width on the type of Extrude, this jaggies problem is also is there. how can I make a perfect M shape?!
First of all, thank you for your awesome tutorials! I tried to follow your tutorials step by step but I found that I couldn't find Cloth Engine. Is it because my cinema 4D is a different version? I just got stuck on that step... if you could help me on this, I would appreciate it!
I'd make this balloon with dresser cloth and then use softbody dynamics to inflate & deflate! Check this tutorial out to learn how! ua-cam.com/video/sC6bW0FHc50/v-deo.html
hi sir how are you? this is great tutorial but question is how to make this balloon in C4D r21 ? because i was try but proper make this balloon please help me

For Cinema R21, before Dress O Matic, in Caps Type put Regular Grid, and display > on the left of Caps Type to insert the size and tick Quad Dominant :D

Excellent tutorials! In R17 you don't have to hit "set initial state" you can just delete the cloth tag.
just in R17 and below?
PLEASE HELP! I am new to C4D. great technique! Before that I used Skulpting to make it "balloony" but this is very very faster and much easier! thx a lot
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
Great tutorial! For some odd reason, the vertex map is not working for me and I am in r20 using octane render material.
Thats what I call a tutorial! thanks!!
That's what I call an awesome comment! Thank you!
You're the best!
appreciate it! :)
So hard to follow this because the UI you have is so far out of date to what's on there now. Missing things like "Regular Grid" @ around the 4 minute mark. Would be great to have a new one.
My new God 🙌🏻
Thanks for watching!
wow awesome !!👌👌
Thanks, Akshay!
Please make a tutorial about Cinema's cloth system and cloth simulations. Like I imagine that it can do a lot of Marvelous Designer stuff, but it's hard to understand how.

Hye EJ..I follow all your steps but it's not working. Only effected on the side polygon. Not include the cap. wonder how you can make that cap and side polygon shrinking together. Is there is any setting that I overlooked?
having same problem
great tutorial!... but is there a way to animate these balloons with soft body without breaking them?
Thx! Learned a lot.
Thats what I wanna hear! Thanks for watching!
WELL DONE, MUCH APPRECIATED
Thank you so much for sharing !How can I use this method better for character images?
Thanks for watching! For complex characters you may want to just sculpt the little seams, but if the character is fairly simple and uses simple geometry, you could use this method.
You're right! Thank you
Good luck!
Amazing tutorial
Glad you think so! Thanks for watching!

6:09 SO COOL
Awesome tutorial. I really love it EJ. I press like before i see it ;p

i64.tinypic.com/2ll0orb.jpg
Hey there! Looks like the image isn't working? Can you please post again?
Hey EJ. The link of the image not working on mobiles, i dont know why but on a computer works.
very cool tutorial! thanks man!
P.S. on the reflection channel for the balloon, I would add some fresnel ;-)
For mylar ballons, theyre almost like very shiny metals where there's a super subtle amount of Fresnel so it wouldnt make a huge difference.
Well It's hard to guess whether it would be okay to use it in a Soft body with my skills, it's incredibly cool anyway. Thank you so madly!
You can do it! Thanks for watching!
Hey there! This tutorial is giving me so much understanding!! How exactly do i go about getting the presets for the HDRI and lighting setups? thank you in advance :-)
That's a HDRI product from Greyscale Gorilla!
Thank you!

This is a really great tutorial! I tried doing this technique with a letter but it didn't work out. Any tips? Thank you and I love your stuff!
Just the tips I provide in the video, make sure the letters aren't too skinny or you won't get a good result. Make sure they're nice and thick and follow the tutorial and you should be in good shape!
Ooh I missed the step of making the intermediate points subdivided! No wonder it wasn't working. Hahaha thanks again!
is there a updated version of this?
the technique shuold be the same in newer versions!
Hey Dear EJ
I have a problem that I'll thank you if you explain it to me.
I have created an "M" shape with a pen spline. also, I've changed the sharp points to the smooth ones with the chamfer tool.

If you dont have Cinema 4D Studio version, you won't have Cloth unfortunately!
you're like santa, but better because you're real.
Hahhaa...shhh...maybe there are some kids on here who haven't found out yet!
You rock homeboy
Cheers, thanks for watching!
Is there a way to inflate/deflate the balloon using this method with the dresser attribute?
I'd make this balloon with dresser cloth and then use softbody dynamics to inflate & deflate! Check this tutorial out to learn how! ua-cam.com/video/sC6bW0FHc50/v-deo.html
hi sir how are you? this is great tutorial but question is how to make this balloon in C4D r21 ? because i was try but proper make this balloon please help me
amazing!!!!
thanks man!
Great ! It's possible make the same for 3DS MAX ?
No idea, I have never used 3DS MAX!
