2017 Honda CR-V - Redline: Review

- Опубліковано 28 лис 2016
- A complete remake for a very important model. Honda makes very big changes to its best-selling CR-V for 2017. Starting with a new chassis, turbo engine, and luxurious new cabin. With over 4 million sales globally since coming to market in 1997, it looks as if the new CR-V will have no trouble holding its place as the top-selling player in the compact crossover segment. Expect to find it at your local Honda dealer in the US starting in December 2016.

Luxury cars make less and less sense everyday with the mainstream brands starting to step up.
TheHvk
that's what i said. Back then to get leather and memory seat or dual climate control. You would need to get a luxury car. But now even Corolla and honda have them. Heck, Elantra give you rear vent heated seat.
Fequi Simon problem is back in the days 325 used to be 30k now touring crv cost merely 33k

I can understand prices going up beccause technology advances quick.
+TheHvk That's because car manufacturers are running out of ideas for features to improve the Luxury brands, and mainstream brands have caught up.

True that. I'm surprised Toyota still making Avalon since feature wise there's not really much differential from tech wise
Just purchased the 2017 touring model a couple months ago. It's everything I thought it would be and more. I was in a very violent collision with my Honda Element last year (activated driver's airbag AND side curtain airbags) and came through without a scratch! I figured a company that made a vehicle with protection like that, deserved some more of my business. Thank you, Honda.
William Burr I’m currently in the market for the 2018 touring model. How was your experience with ownership over the last few months?

Wow, 18 years ago we bought home a brand new 1998 Honda CR-V.... how it has changed. It didn't even come with standard cassette player. Now it's like near luxury amenities. One thing our 1998 CR-V had that 2017 doesn't have is a built in picnic table.
I actually used that more than once!
We used to have a 2001 C-RV (same generation). We loved it, the built it picnic table was incredible! Sadly, it got totaled when a drunk driver slammed into us.
Jam Slam our CRV is a 2001 model and we never used the picnic table idk why but I like the new one
The iconic picnic table, maybe they'll bring it back someday
the best review for a honda crv so far

The longest review Honda CR-V I never seen
Nice car I look forward to see at dealerships
I sold my 2015 Audi A3 cabriolet and got a 2017 CRV. My experience: crv gave me PEACE OF MIND. I miss only the convertible top and a litle bit the Bang and Olufsen sound. The interiors ARE very Good. Turning in curvy roads is surprisingly good!! Had civic Si and this mom grocery getter mall rated ute DOES the job! Of course is not a blast to drive. But don't disappoint. Nice in long trips, nice in backroads, nice all round commuter. I'd rather buy a second fun car and keep this Does it all and does it good instead of a having a different car . I love this suv.
Given your limited access to this vehicle, you still pulled off a good review. Thanks for posting what amounts to the ONLY real review of the 2017 CR-V on UA-cam so far.
I'm really liking your videos, let me say that right off here. Your style is straight forward and no nonsense, I appreciate that. I can also tell your a car guy as well, keep up the good work and I'm staying subscribed!
Now about this SUV...Honda is on a roll! They remind me of what Mazda started doing a couple years ago and that is fresh, beautiful designs and in Honda's case, fun to drive, what a concept! I bet when they redo their minivan, it too will be really nice!
We always love being as honest as possible in every review we do. Glad you enjoy it! A new Odyssey is right around the corner, Honda should be showing something in Detroit, most likely.
Redline Reviews what's next after tuning nob? Bro
Any update on when the new Accord redesign will be unveiled?
I can barely focus on the car because of all the beautiful scenery.
***** meh it's not that bad.
Marin County! My home-- this is right around Mt. Tamalpais
+Chase Wray Are you sure it's Marin County? This looks more like somewhere south of San Francisco, perhaps in San Mateo county?
The video was shot south of SF. The map in the car shows him driving on Old La Honda Road.
He said he was in Monterey.
This new touring crv has more premium features than my 2017 Acura RDX. Acura really has to step up its game
Andy Kitusa it's now a marketing scheme. lol.
Andy Kitusa But I still prefer the v6 in the rdx.
Andy Kitusa cause acuras are warmed over luxed up Hondas. But also consider a lot of mainstream cars are getting luxury items. Even the civic, elantra, Mazda3 and alike. proliferation of technology. that's what customers want
Why did you buy a RDX in the first place... wasted money
Average that's very true. The suspension and engine are much better
I've watched alot of other reviews and yours are by far the most detailed and best. Keep it up sir.
When the CRV looks more truck-like than the Ridgeline
Minivan like!
The back resembles the Honda pilot to me in some way
Ashton
min
It drives more truck-like as well than the Ridgeline.
Honda has really stepped up their game in terms of design.
Donnie Augustine not really.. It's big, bulky, and awkward. The Mazda is the best hands down
I feel like Honda puts more effort in Honda models rather than Acura models...the tech is better and styling is more interesting in Honda over Acura. Honda even made Jewel LED headlights available which is good for Honda but bad for Acura.
Well, with respect Acuras are mainly sold in America, where as Hondas are sold all over the world. Hondas are more important to the conglomerate than a brand that is only available to 1 country.
There’s no Acura here in Japan, it’s all Honda. I’m driving Honda integra right now lol
All acuras are hondas overseas for the most part.
I agree! I remember having a Honda legend and was confused at first when I came back and noticed it was an Acura.
IKR I feel like Acura biggest competition is Honda itself.
Great job on the review!
I'm the market right now and glad to see Honda updating the CR-V. This is just the segment I'm investigating; compact crossovers. I've test driven more than half a dozen vehicles so far, so I'll add this one to the list when it becomes available. Love the styling, utility, and updated interior. The 1.5t I think is appropriate for the segment as well; average offering and power, give or take. Totally agreed with you on the comment about torque! Hondas just don't usually have any, lol...Can't wait to test it out!
Thanks!
Redline your Reviews are for Me ...The Absolute Best !
" it looks like an octopus to me" i died.
This CR-V is certainly dominating the airwaves at the moment - and rightfully so. Great video - you really pointed out the crucial features of this terrific SUV.
Thanks for another great, comprehensive review. Definitely my go to source for reviews!
I have watched dozens & dozens of car reviews. You are hands down the best. In fact I am disappointed when there is a car i want to review and you haven't driven it! Thanks!
My parents bought me 2003 CRV for my first car and its fun great for taking my friends out and smoking pounds of weed
Pounds... you must be plastered!
I have a 2001 CRV, accurate.
One of the best 1st cars and they last forever.
НАТО в шоке, США обосрались Nice! All I want is a used 80's Camaro and a nice Porsche.
That's beautiful ... a session with the homies in a Honda lmfao
-litlife
Cwalk my fkin nigga
The front is a civic, rear is a Volvo XC90 with escalade turn signals. It's ok.
The rear looks more Renault Espace to me.
the rear looks like shit
cybertroy2 it looks better than the previous model lol
my thoughts too, lol.
and the body looks a bit like the current 4th generation crv.. just wider.
Can’t believe I sat through this entire video lol. Good job.
Your videos are actually enjoyable to watch man. Nice work!
Just wanted to add that I love how when you criticize you offer constructive criticism and mention how to improve on the faults.
its either this or the '17 mazda cx-5 which is GORGEOUS
spartyon89 Cx-5. this one doesn't look like it will age well, design is not very appealing
spartyon89 This CRV it has more features for the money and is all new while the cx5 only got little changes.
spartyon89 Honda will hold value better plus reliability but the Mazda does look nice
spartyon89 go with Honda
spartyon89
Same here
Touch choice for me too
I like CX5 interiors and rear tail lights.
But front not so much .
CR -V I like front look but rear not so much, crv have more room and very reliable car too.
So I'm still debating
Please give me your opinion
Thanks
I love your reviews, your the main reason I bought my 2014 Fiesta ST, 44,000 miles and going strong 💪🏼 keep up the great work. Fiesta Flash. ⚡️
This has to be my favorite channel at this point lol addicting videos great presentation
I'm considering getting this. Looks like Honda has really improved this. Love the way it looks now. Past generations were just too frumpy looking. Has nice engine options, better interior materials and more power.
Always watch all your reviews! Could you guys start adding a portion the reviews specifically talking about highway driving with the economic cars you review. Mainly in regards to the vehicles ability to pass on the highways. This is always my main concern with the lower powered vehicles. Especially here in western Canada, alot of road trips here involve single lane 2 way roads and lots of hills and you really need a good motor and gearing to pass with out a long stretch to reach some speed.
Great overall review with actual driving over winding road Thank you, Rich,
I just bought a 2016 for my dad, he loved it I feel so proud of this purchase
The Canadian model gets a Panoramic sunroof, Heated rear seats, and a Heated steering wheel :(
Great review! I cannot wait until you can get a lower end trim of the CRV and possibly compare to the other competitors, in a long term run/review! Keep up the impeccable work!

"The Quest To Record The Best!"
A car that has come a long way. Great review.
I love my 2009 CR-V... great review of the gorgeous new one!
Love cars, but I enjoyed the view at the beach more than looking at the CR-V.
Easy to do when you fly over the cliff, Holy FK. California usually overprotects their people but no guardrails there.
This new CRV looks really nice, I'm impressed with all the features. Ball is in your court Toyota, let's see what you got in store for the next gen RAV4 in 2018
Really enjoy your reviews. One thing that would be nice, and I'm sure I'm far from the first to say this, is if you could start reviewing more base level to mid-level trim packages. Although you do a good job of describing the differences verbally, I think a lot of buyers (certainly myself included) would benefit from seeing how those packages look and feel. I'm sure there's good reason -- from the manufacturers' standpoint -- that you always wind up in the premium trims, but from a consumer standpoint stepping it down a notch would be beneficial. Thanks
Amazing review, definitely the best review of the new 2017 Honda CR-V so far! CORRECTION: Panoramic sunroof for the Honda CR-V 2017 is available EXCLUSIVELY to Canada!!!
Very comprehensive. Nice job. Very informative.
chiparooo liking this comment just because of the profile pic
Honda should throw the v6 in there. Give it some balls
tommieboi707 it's a women's car, they don't want no v6
Anonymous they want balls tho! did that come out right?
tommieboi707 like Toyota did with the rav4 before
One could only wish. In fact, the thought of losing the V6 Accord is already scary. A 1.5 Turbo hauling around 3500 lbs just doesn't sound as appealing as the 278HP in a V6 with normal gears.
It's called the RDX.
The best review ever see for me, great job Sofyan, the camera, the illumination, the colors, all HD, the ONLY is speak a little bit fast, but is ok. ^^ Super....!!!!
Really thorough review! 10/10!
How have these been holding up? I can’t believe the combination of the CVT and 1.5 offers great longevity. Interested to buy a compact or midsize that will last 200k miles without problems
The car looks good but the rims are horrendous.
Very precise review and thorough thank you I am halfway into my savings for a new car and thinking CRV.
love the channel man! keep it up! have you ever done any base models of vehicles (no leather and base tech)? some users don't go high end with the trim unless they are used vehicles and more affordable. either way thanks for sharing your vehicles!
I bought this car on Monday, really nice and comfortable to drive.
Hows it holding up??
I still think that Honda should put bigger & more powerful engine on these CR-V models.
2.5 L turbocharged will be nice
Excellent review, as always!
I'm actually thinking about purchasing this car.. I almost went with Hyundai but I see I get more for my money with this minus the cooled seats and heated steering wheel.. thank you. Keep up the good work
man if they added the 2.0 T into this thing for the 2019 version it would be pretty nice.
Impressive review. You cover a ton of details, which is appreciated by potential buyers like me.
Excellent in-depth vehicle review.
Very nice car Excellent review. You know your stuff!!! Sofyan is the best auto analyst I've seen anywhere.
I like the new look. Dual exhaust makes the CRV looks more sporty.
Looks great
Rav4: 6 Speed Auto, 360 degree camera, Drivers Assistance Tech (Standard On All models)
CR-V: Android Auto/Apple Carplay, Turbo, USB charging ports
jasen ratnam pretty much so.
Excellent review as usual. Will be trading in our current CRV when the new model arrives in Australia.
Great review ! We're buying the ex-l but you did a well informed job. Thanks
Wow. The CR-V is going to be his first 1M+ video
1.3M views now.
I love it, but why all the black empty space on the center screen?
Michael Henville yeh, looks like Honda budgeting didn't allow for 9-10 inch screen at this year model to compete with BMW, only enough money to bring the volume nub, he-he ;-),.
I'll wait for a diesel Mazda CX-5, unless Honda leaked out the heated steering wheel and 9" screen for 2018 upgrade ...common Honda you can do a bigger/better screen for sure or WV will...
Exactly
Fantastic review. Thank you.
Excellent review as usual. I'm looking forward to you testing a 2017 CX-5 to see how it compares to the Honda.
No way, Honda brought back the volume knob lol
Tuning knob by 2019 lol.
Ben G and picnic table from 1998 crv in 2030 crv XD
Ben G lol
this is going to sell well
Love that vehicle, want one. Best review so far.
A very good review: thorough, and detailed, with opinions. After watching reviews from England of similar vehicles, they regard the CR-V as being less than sporty, whilst in the US it's pitched differently. I also noted that the steering seemed to be a bit laggy - when you were wafting it through the bends, I thought you were turning the steering wheel about a quarter-second early to negotiate the bend smoothly. And as far as cooling functions on seats and heated steering wheels, these are on the CR-V's Korean competitors from Kia and Hyundai.
Would've been nice to have the 2.0 in the CR-V. Simplicity doesn't always have to come with less power. Sometimes simplicity can be preferred.
I like that Honda seems to be getting more consistent. It's know it's not a big deal, but I hate when manufacturers mix L.E.D with non L.E.D front and taillights. If you're gonna offer it on higher trim levels, just have the entire set L.E.D. It bothers me when L.E.D lights are mixed with non-L.E.D's. It looks off to me.

What a great review for the brand new CR-V. I currently own a previous gen Honda CR-V 2012. I bought it immediately when it came out. It might be a good time to upgrade.
Excellent review of the 2017 Honda CRV! Thumbs Up!
finally............. a volume knob :D
Great review, I'm loving the new CR-V style and the new tech. I'm so interested in how the Drivers alert system works.
HondaPro Jason i was curious about that too. It munitors how often it you drive over the lines. Nit monitors your driving and not you per se. It doesnt know if yourneyes are closed. Im more interested in the traffic sign reader tech
Bought this car in 2017. I can’t believe how extremely reliable it is. I’ve taken this vehicle to Colorado twice and Las Vegas once from Dallas. Currently has 111k miles on it and runs very smoothly and over 34.5 mpg. Had no issues whatsoever. Very very dependable vehicle.
Thanks for the review, I Just brought my 2017 CRV home, all of the safety features, comfort, interior size, and quiet ride will really be helpful once my husband is able to come home from the hospital. He was just hit by a large vehicle while riding his Harley, and sustained a major TBI... it will be at least a year before he can even try driving again, but the accessibility, and technology in this vehicle should make that process much easier!
Kristela Sprouse hello , I am planning to buy EXL AWD one question on the mpg is it matching the estimated mpg ? I see some of the reviews mentions that the car didn't match the estimated mpg.
To me the interior looks more upscale than the RDX, they really need to step up Acura. Also, I still don't get why they give the Hondas dual-exhaust tips, but not the Acuras (aside from the NSX, sorta)
Honestly, given the other competitors of CR-V, even there there is no reason to chose an RDX except for it's v6 engine and premium looking exterior. Inside is a disaster. They could've improved the dual-screen functionality but it screams 2012.
pochoun33137 I agree. The only thing is the TLX offers SH-AWD. If Honda offered the accord in AWD even on the top touring trim only they would easily outsell all their competition. The only family sedan in it's class that offers awd is the fusion. And fully loaded it cost 37K. If Honda sold a touring AWD accord for 36K I would run to the store and get one.
My TL-s has quad exhaust tips
Honda has a winner.
Sof, I would love it if at the end your tag line was "catch you all at the Redline"
Very impressive Review! Thank you!
I love your work. Great job.
A very appealing SUV. Honda have done a great job with the new CRV.
it looks more like Acura made a new suv and called it honda
They are the same company
i know
thank you, thank you honda for prioritizing styling that was a major reason why i wouldnt buy a 2016 crv but this 2017 looks really stylish and this is THE CAR i would buy new over any other vehicle in the market
excellent review always enjoy watching your review👍👍👍love this new crv. dont you think this crv is underpower????
Great review! I just bought an off-lease Touring, but I agree with you on the wheels; I prefer the EX-L wheels. All that extra chrome and the faux wood aren't my favorite, either, but the entire package is nicely designed. Tip for Touring owners with the kick-motion-activated: if installing a tow hitch for bike racks, etc, the sensor will have to be moved, so carefully consider who installs it for you. I've always driven a manual, so the CVT messes with my brain. WHERE ARE THE GEARS??? (I know the answer)
The seats looks similar to the Cadillac CT6 seats as far as design.
How come the Canadian version gets panoramic moonroof and USA doesn't?
A very detailed review! Thank you! I wonder how this new CR-V will compare to the 2017 CX-5.
Thank you for your time and input
looking at this, I'm afraid how the next gen accord will look like.
I'll be honest with you guys, the wavy camera motion while you're presenting is distracting and borderline nauseating. It just seems very unnecessary for the informative style of videos you guys put out.
xpinchx We appreciate the feedback. We are currently in the process of trying out different techniques based on feedback from you guys. It'll help us when it comes time to upgrade our equipment next year. We'll be sure to keep what you said in mind.
+Joe Manning Ya nasty
xpinchx it's not that deep
Thank you for this review! Better than I expected. I like my Dad's 1997. I thnk 15 and 16 is the best.97-01 are one my second favorites. 12-14 in third. 07-11 fourth. I think 02-06 are the worst even though I think all CRVS are awesome in their own way. This is growing on me in a hurry.
Great review! Do you know when the 2018 model will be coming out? Will there be any changes? Thanks
From the audio, the car sounds very noisy. A friend who bought one confirms that it is indeed noisy. For me, that in itself would justify buying a luxury brand. Most people don't seem to care -- little attention is paid to noise level in most car reviews. Opinions from buyers?
Drinking game challenge: Take a shot every time he says "now" in the beginning of a sentence. Get ready to get shitfaced.
Honda keeping up with tier 1 brands! Good job!
a very good review. thanks sofyan
Standout Feature: Volume knob.
Mad Pistol 😂
I like everything EXCEPT those awful rims
DimachkaS and the CVT instead of a 8 speed auto or something better
JC4 is not a bad cvt unlike the Nissan 2013 cvt
What a joke. As if those wheels were the heart of the styling problems with this car. No one in America is going in to be buying this car for the styling. The reviewer should just skip over the entire subject.
I'm an owner of a 2016 civic...the brake hold button, push and pull handbrake button, touch sensitive volume button, google play option,LCD screens back up camera etc are some of the most convenient features available...plus this CR-V interior resembles a lot like the civic 2016 interior.....it's futuristic...totally!!
