    We have a 2017 CR-V Touring, which we chose over the RAV4 because of the styling (exterior+interior), the tech, the ride, the space, and the near-luxury feel (fit and finish). Re: the fake wood, I can tell you that it meshes well with the black interior. It doesn't seem like an imitation, more like an artistic interpretation of wood, rather than a simulation. Does that make sense? Anyhoo, we love it. No regerts. ;) Great comparison btw.

    Die hard Toyota fan. They're solid and hold great value. But Hondas design is pretty nice and those led headlights are so luxurious looking on the road. Also the honda has cool rear turn signals. Very Volvo like

    We updated to a 2017 Rav4 Limited Four wheel drive from the 2010 model Rav4 Limited, It is a must for us as we live in northern state. We love the included TSS. It took a bit to get used to. The lane deviation alert is a bit more sensitive then expected. The radar controlled cruise control is a delight it makes highway driving very relaxing faithfully maintaining distance between you and the car ahead, braking and accelerating as needed. There are a few annoyances like the Nav controls but nothing is perfect. Overall love the vehicle.

    It's amazing to think that there was a time where American family cars were primarily V8, RWD sedans. These commuters need to start demanding personality in their cars again before all we're left with is 7 different flavors of Ford Escape.

      Yeah, let's demand clunky, unreliable, polluting, inefficient crap. Screw progress!

    • @doctorferdinand1003
      @doctorferdinand1003 7 років тому +5

      You're an idiot if you think progress necessitates blandness. 90s cars were far less polluting, far more reliable and far more efficient than 70s cars and they were a lot more fun and the car market was more diverse.
      Today, people consume cars as an appliance and are willing to accept poorly made, uninspired, unexciting crap. The issue isn't progress, the issue is an apathetic consumer.
      Also, in many ways these cars aren't progressing technology. Engine head design on many cars is becoming less advanced now than it was 10-15 years ago because companies don't want to spend the money on R&D when a cheap, old solution is available with turbo chargers. Cars from the 90s were far better made and more reliable than the beta test in progress junk you're buying today.

    • @muzegames
      @muzegames 5 років тому +1

      @@doctorferdinand1003 "90s cars where more diverse." ...Yes. That's why the market was flooded with rebadged versions of Mercury, Plymouth, Eagle, Oldsmobile, Pontiac and Saturn vehicles. Real original.

    Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with both vehicles~~ Both are great picks and some of the most well-known and popular in their class. I've owned this generation RAV4 for 4 years, and I can say that it is a great vehicle, very simple and easy to drive and use, and overall great vehicle. Toyotas are like tanks, so maintenance is not going to be an issue. But again, both the CR-V and the RAV4 are probably some of the best choices when it comes to this class of vehicle.

    The Honda CR-V is the better choice hands down. It looks better... However due to the changes Toyota made to the 2018 Camry & how the 2019 Avalon is going to look, I can see Toyota stepping up the Rav4 for 2019 & shitting on the competition... We should all watch out for future Toyota models cause they ain't playing anymore lol

      @@christianuy5791 This is very true, I bought a 2017 CRV with that shitty CVT and I had nothing but issues, would just stall out on me doing 75 to 80 mph down the interstate, and I bought it new, and I'll be dammed if right at 26 k that shitty CVT went kaput it was fixed under warranty, but as soon as I got it fixed i traded that pos in for a 2019 RAV-4 the last model year to offer the 6 speed auto and I am so satisfied. I've been a loyal Honda owner since I bought my new Civic in 2005, and my first car ever was an 89 Prelude Si. CVT transmission and Turbo and Direct fuel injection are no go's for me. Huge costs coming if you keep it past 50,000 miles. You cannot rebuild CVT's, you have to replace at about $5600 to $6000.

    Informative and comprehensive review. I went with the CR-V and love it. While you can't really go wrong on either car, the tech on the CR-V and more modern styling is well worth the difference in price, if there is any. I have the Touring, since I like the all-LED and rain-sensing features and Touring styling. While the seats in the RAV4 may be comfortable for some, I find the snugness of the wrap around design to be a problem. The seats, ride and power of the CR-V are great. Nice job on the review!

    The Honda’s turbo and CVT are question marks for me as far as reliability and future maintenance cost is concerned. Plus I’m not a big fan of the CRV’s touchscreen on the EX and up. Otherwise the CRV’s features are better than the RAV4.

    •  Рік тому

      The new engine does away with the old timing belt which requires an expensive preventive maintenance job. The new engine uses a chain, which lasts as much as the engine will, with no replacement required. Definitely a move in the right direction, plus the turbo is dialed in to provide for better fuel consumption as you will see when you compare it to the RAV4.

      How is your car doing rn?? Have you had any trouble with the turbos, oil dilution?? We also bought a rav4 in 2018 and it’s doing perfectly fine

    • @MBTUE
      @MBTUE 4 роки тому +1

      @@MiguelLopez-fh7vx It's fine . there was a recall that was done one it to prevent the oil dilution problem.The car overall is fine . Nothing to write home about , we find the quality is lower than the Accord line. I think because it's based on the civic chassis. Fit and finish is just ok . trim is lower quality than the Accord . I personally wouldn't buy another one but it's my wife's car . I drive a Toyota Tundra and it's amazing !

    The 2017 CR-V was the best redesign Honda did lately. It looks very premium (LED turn signals in the headlights and tail lights) The turn signals in the rear are very Escalade-like.. This back looks like a Volvo and a Lexus RX... Why couldn't Honda make the 2018 Odyssey and Accord premium looking like the CR-V, since they are the more expensive models?

      My friend complained Rav4 slow acceleration for uphill drive.

    Probably not the fairest comparison given the 2017 CR-V is a new model and the RAV4 is essentially a 4 year old platform. I reviewed the CR-V last week and I have to say there really wasn't anything much to criticize. My review car was the top of the line VTi-LX (at least in Australia) and it was loaded with an extraordinary number of active safety systems, which for the target "family" market safety is a major selling point. I believe that there is a tech upgrade scheduled for the RAV4 later this year which no doubt will add several active safety features to bring the Toyota closer to the Honda.

    Toyota will redesign the Rav-4 using their TNGA design which I think will curb stomp the CR-V. Until then, I think the CR-V is a better car.

    It's not really fair to the Toyota since it's on an old ass platform and engine while Honda updated everything on the crv. There is a reason CR-V is best in class at the moment.

    • @khalidcarrillo1132

      Probably because it's an old platform and it can't compete with a car that's on a new generation. The CRV will have less discounts since it is a new gen.
